- Laura (9/5): - Very Clean. Private toilet for female. Kitchen facilities. Pet friendly ❤️. Close to hunter valley (very convenient if you going for the wine tours or hot air balloons). Very affordable!. I would stay there again! Don’t bring high expectations, this place is simple but clean and complete! You get what you need: a place to sleep that is convenient depending on your plans with free parking, and complementary tea and coffee ☺️🫶🏻. I’m not used to leaving reviews but this place deserves it.

Schön eingerichtet, sauber.
Bei 40 Grad hat uns die Klimaanlage gefehlt, aber es gab einen Ventilator.

- Nolan (9/5): Khartoum Hotel - Beautiful historic hotel in Kitchener 5km from cessnock. Perfect for a weekend getaway or travelling through. Good bistro food , dog friendly, Chris the publican made they stay easy had good music with friendly locals.
a hotel you could hang out and enjoy or a base to visit the wineries and local attractions.
- Cameron (10/5): Friendly service, old style hospitality with nice basic homely community vibes. - The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the room was very clean. The showers were shared but excellent with decent products to use. The food at the pub was well priced and the vibe was nice and friendly. Excellent to have access to the fully fenced beer garden / grass area all night to be able to let the dog out to stretch its legs and toilet in a safe clean and well lit space.
- liana (9/5): Great place to stay - Beautiful old Australian pub
- Hayden (8/5): -
- Melona (10/5): - Excellent area
- Christopher (8/5): - The size, nice balcony, clean A tv wouldve been amazing. Wifi had difficulties with accessing it through the QR code.
- John (9/5): A place with fabulous Australian character, very comfortable and friendly. - This is a classic Australian Pub with a great local community. If you are a traveler who enjoys meeting and mixing with the the locals of the area you are visiting it is a great Australian local hotel with excellent facilities, great food and a wide range of good beer. Located close to all the Hunter Valley attractions it also has good walks with great bird life not far from its front door. I came expecting the basic comforts you get in a classic Pubs and found much more than that along with a very friendly staff. So as long as you dont bring expectations of private guesthouse luxury then there's not much to dislike.
- Sarwan (10/5): - Excellent property and great safety. staff members, as well as very helpful
We are very happy to stay in over night
- Dave (9/5): Great little country pub & excellent value for money. - Great country location, friendly easygoing staff (Chris). Had all we needed. Nothing.
- Simon (8/5): A little gem for those willing to explore options. - Where else in the hunter valley could you stay for $100 per night and get more than you expect. I don't normally book at this price point but decided to select on ratings and this little gem appeared. We seemed to get exclusive use of a great bathroom. The owner Chris was very friendly. Wasn't an issue to us, but remember there is a hotel below which makes noise.
- Hong (8/5): -
- Daria (10/5): -

- Julie (8/5): Very good - Remoteness

- Brenton (9/5): Fantastic place to stay, will come again! - Beautiful country pub in a very quiet location, comfortable rooms, very well priced, and had a great welcoming vibe, and was very welcoming of pups 🙂
- Thelmarie (10/5): Family orientated - Nearing the end of Day 1 # Brisbane - Kitchener
With the sun dipping low and painting the sky in soft hues of orange and pink, we rolled into the final stretch toward the old country pub — the one the locals talk about like it’s a rite of passage. Nestled among farmlands and framed by rusted gates and rolling hills, it stood like a beacon of rest and good company.
We parked the bikes out front, boots hitting the dirt as we walked into the hum of laughter, clinking glasses, and the warm scent of pub grub that hits just right after a long day on the road. Farmers crowded the bar, their hands rough from work, their stories rich with country life. They welcomed us in with nods, banter, and that easy-going Aussie hospitality.
Good vibes. Damn good food. Cold beers that washed down the dust and brought the day full circle.
And, of course, just when you think the surprises are done — we meet another bloody South African!!
But the cherry on top? We even scored the manager’s room for the night — a lucky twist that meant a proper bed, hot shower, and a bit of comfort before tomorrow’s ride. No sleeping bags or shared bunks this time, just a warm room and the soft hum of the countryside settling in for the night.
Full bellies, new mates, and a solid roof over our heads — the perfect end to a perfect day. Tomorrow, the road calls again. NA
- Jarka (8/5): Very good - The ambience of the old pub and the staff was great. Should have booked a bigger room. But it was my fault.

- Jim (9/5): Great pit stop for hunter valley - A proper Auzzie hotel well placed for the hunter valley wine experience. The hotel is a part of local history as it was built at roughly the same time as the coal mine in Kitchener which is a short walk away. There was a bistro on site so we could enjoy a lovely meal and drinks in the bar Rooms not ensuite but part of the charm/ history of the place.
- Melissa (10/5): Great country hotel - We had a great overnight stay at this hotel. A short drive from cessnock and just the rest stop we were hoping for. Would definitely stay again!
- Helen (8/5): We loved this place, will definitely stay here again! - We loved the friendliness & convenience, the big verandah, the excellent bistro, the character & characters of this special pub. We missed having an air conditioner in our otherwise very comfortable bedroom. It was hot overnight, despite the big, somewhat noisy fan.
- Ghimire (10/5): Far better than what i expected. Price was so cheap, service was excellent and there is everything that i needed. - Worth the price.

- Donna (8/5): Great overnight stay, felt very safe and comfortable with my children and place was very clean. - Great hotel for the price, local to Cessnock, easy to find, owner was lovely and very helpful, very clean and family friendly. Nothing really, maybe some water for my room to save me making so much noise in the communal area during the night.
