Santosh was simply the best, always around, trustworthy and forthcoming with his pricing, working to make sure the trip was good. He arranged for a day trip to nalanda and rajgir for me and also a tuktuk transfer to the airport. It is slightly away from the temple region but nothing that’s more than a 50-100 rupee tuktuk ride away so all was good!
- Luke (10/5): A place where you can feel comfortable and welcome - Shangrila Stay is clean and comfortable. The host, Santosh, is also incredibly kind. He can help you arrange taxis to and from the airport and answer questions you may not know if you're a first time traveler. You can order food through Shangrila Stay if you want/need as well. India is a very foreign place to me and I was very happy to not only have stayed somewhere that was clean but to have Santosh as a host too. I loved my stay in Bodhgaya and being able to have somewhere to retreat and sleep that I actually felt comfortable at made a huge difference in my trip

Cela a permis aussi de faciliter l'accès à mes diverse demande auxquels Santosh à accéder avec grand plaisir. Cela n'est pas dû seulement à la langue française mais à Santosh lui-même qui est vraiment une personne accessible et présente pour ses resident. Il est flexible, arrangeant, soutenant et sont énergie est vraiment agréable. D'ailleurs Shangrila guest house est lumineux très propres et je me suis senti comme chez moi. Ce qui reflète beaucoup la personnalité du propriétaire et de ça famille présente dans les lieux. Vraiment je conseil le lieu car vous trouverez ce que vous réservez et conforme à celle-ci. Et en plus vous rencontrerez Santosh, ça familles et Moubarak qui pour ma part mérite d'être connues, car se sont de belles personnes.

But that is only if you are coming ming by your own car. Car needs to be parked outside in a small lane and I felt little unsafe.

- Quang-Khoi (9/5): Super sauber und ruhig gelegen. In Indien wirklich eine Perle. - Es ist wirklich das sauberste Hotel, was ich bis jetzt in Indien erlebt habe. Man kann barfuß im Hotel herumlaufen. Bemerkenswerterweise gab es im gesamten Hotel keine einzige Mücke, obwohl sie sich draußen getummelt haben. Der Besitzer ist wirklich nett und zuvorkommend. Man konnte zum kilopreis sehr gut und günstig waschen. Die Kleidung war danach auch sauber und das weiß blieb weiß. Man kommt innerhalb von 10 min mit dem Tuktuk in die Stadt. Mit uber kostet das 61 Rupies. Somit ist es auch schön ruhig gelegen. Genau was wir gebraucht haben. Uns hat es weniger gestört, aber in allen Badezimmern gibt es einen kleinen ca 10x30cm Schlitz zur Belüftung. In einigen Zimmern geht dieser in einen kleinen dunklen Innenhof, zu dem keiner so gelangen kann, aber es kann sein, dass man jemand anderes hört, wie er gerade in seinem Bad sein Geschäft macht. In einem Zimmer ging dieser Schlitz ins Treppenhaus, was etwas unangenehmer war. Das Hotel selbst ist leider etwas von einem anderen Gebäude versteckt und kann nur durch einen schmalen Gang erreicht werden. Aber innen drin ist es wirklich nett und sauber.

We looked forward to our breakfast on the rooftop terrace every morning. Shangrila Stay is walking distance from all the sites we visited in town. The room is very clean, comfortable and quiet. Shangrila Stay is located in a small town India with all the typical sights, sounds and smells as expected.

- Mark (10/5): Paradise, like a lotus rising - We had the most amazing stay. The hotel has a wonderfully spacious aesthetic. But the jewel is the owner Santosh and his lovely wife. Santosh speaks numerous languages and having lived in france and running a tourism company knows how to help, giving options, advice and great value. He's a gem, and never pushie. His relaxedness permeates the problems that can arise in India, and so shangri-la stay becomes an oasis of safety and sanity. There's also a lovely roof terrace where you can get a great breakfast, and along the road is Santosh'es shared lotus leaf resturaunt, which carries santosh'es, spacious attention to detail. I can't wait to go back. That you so much for making our stay exveptional.

- Nicholas (10/5): Friendliest and most helpful hotelier in Bodhgaya - The owner, who lives on site with his family, is what makes this place so special. Santosh is multi-lingual speaking English fluently but also French and Japanese! He has a background in the travel industry and has a great network of contacts. Our trip became a bit complicated for various reasons (Nepal border closed due to elections for one thing) and Santosh helped us sort out changes including booking trains & flights. On top of all that he is the chillest, most warm hearted guy! No complaints

The staff was kind, welcoming, and readily available. There was a large menu with many different options and the food is brought to your room or to the roof. Lots of hot water and great wifi access too. You are just a short drive away from the Mahabodhi temple and shopping area.

- Sonam (9/5): The hotel is neither far away nor close to the temple so its a peaceful place. - We cooked our own meals at the kitchen located on the rooftop top. Kitchen cleanliness can be improved. Other hardware items ( non kitchen items ) can be kept in a different room. The hotel is new so it’s very clean . The staff and the proprietor is friendly, very proactive and ready to help. The footpath leading to the hotel from the road needs to be improved as it will be muddy in summer. The sign board needs improvement. It can be little biiger and one on the roof top for better visibility.

- Sandado (8/5): quelques problèmes mais essais de solution rapides - Grandeur des pièces (chambre et salle de bains) Emplacement, excentré, mais très proche de la rue principale qui est facilement accessible Santosh et son équipe Solutions apportées rapidement aux problèmes rencontrés : il faisait très froid dans la chambre et j'ai eu une couverture supplémentaire ainsi qu'une mini chaufferette et parfois 1 bon thé bien chaud; le wc a été très vite débouché (dans l'heure) et la prise près du lit réparée le lendemain Eau chaude OK mais il fallait la laisser couler très longtemps avant qu'elle soit à bonne température et je trouve cette perte d'eau vraiment dommage. Chambre très, très froide (à cause de la saison) et chaufferette beaucoup trop petite par rapport à la grandeur de la chambre La porte de la terrasse n'était pas étanche ce qui laissait passer l'air froid Mauvaise insonorisation et donc on entendait très fort les bruits et les claquements de porte des clients indélicats

- Schreiner (10/5): Exceptional - Great place for great money, we stayed twice already. Rooms are spacious, decent and very clean. The place feels very peaceful. Santosh is very friendly and provided great hospitality, helped with everything we needed from calling a taxi, managing our train tickets to managing a hot bath for me when the electricity was off. Highly recommended.

There was one incident when I saw our door handle being turned, twice, and when I went to investigate he was there. He told us our breakfast was ready, but why not knock. Other guests or friends of the owner were often very loud.
- Evelin (10/5): - This place was perfect for exploring Bodh Gaya, away from the chaos and noise, but a short walk from the temples and points of interest. The room was spacious and comfortable for two people, with the option of room service. Our room was clean (except for a small rug) but much better than in other places in India, and they also cleaned it during our stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful with anything you need. The value for money is good; I highly recommend it.

Cute rooftop terrace where we could relax, enjoy coffee and tea, and freshly made breakfast. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly, helping us with getting laundry cleaned, a taxi ride to nearby sites, and ordering dinner from their restaurant. Pierwszy raz spotykam tak empatycznego i serdecznego człowieka, do tego włada biegle angielskim i francuskim i ma świętą cierpliwość nawet do takich nieogarniętych turystów jak ja. Standard pokoju jest niesłychany jak na Indii jest najzwyczajniej w świecie wygodnie, duży pokój z dużymi oknami, balkonem, w środku, duża, nowoczesna szafa, duże lustro, bardzo szeroka pólka, którą można potraktować jako blat, czajnik w pokoju, można zamawiać różne potrawy. Łazienka na europejskim, wysokim poziomie z ciepłą wodą. To nie jest żadna opinia na zlecenie w obiekcie nie znalazłam naprawdę żadnych uchybień, a cena jest atrakcyjna Dla niektórych może to być minus, że dosyć daleko od Mahabodhi Temple, ale z drugiej strony nie ma szumu ulicznego , Tuktukiem 15 min od Mahabodhi Temple. Obiekt znajduje się w pobliżu dużego klasztoru buddyjskiego Nigma

Un excellent accueil de la part de Santosh, qui a su me donner de bons conseils et m'aider à chaque fois que j'en avais besoin (Merci encore !!!). L'atmosphère est sympathique et familiale : on s'y sent bien. J'ai particulièrement apprécié le logement, propre, bien entretenu, et très calme. Il n'est pas au "centre", mais à très bonne distance pour pouvoir apprécier à la fois le calme et les environs (très beaux), mais également très accessible des principaux points d'intérêt. J'ai passé un excellent séjour et je recommande vivement. Pas grand chose. C'était très bien.

- Maria (10/5): Это определённо лучший гостевой дом в Бодхгае! - Из всех мест, в которых я останавливалась в Бодхгае (а их было очень много), это однозначно лучшее! Честно говоря, и не ожидала встретить сервис настолько высокого уровня. Комната была с современной мебелью, отличным дизайном и ОЧЕНЬ чистая! А ещё было тихо, что редкость в этих местах. До Махабодхи я быстрым шагом добиралась за 20 минут, если хочется быстрее, легко поймать тук-тук и добраться до храма за считанные минуты. Я однозначно буду останавливаться здесь снова и снова. Огромное спасибо хозяину за то, что теперь в Бодхгае есть место, где можно качественно отдыхать! Такого не было, всё идеально.

- PAWANKUMAR (10/5): I would highly recommend this by place and it’s super reasonable . - The room was superb , very clean with all amenities. There is no coffee maker but the electric kettle was there which sufficed . Santosh Ji the Owner takes extraordinary care , and the caretaker Mubarak make me the best coffee ever . It’s a25/30 minute walk to the Mahabodhi temple but the staff organises rickshaw with ease I liked everything !

- Rahul (9/5): Excellent - Shangrila stay was an excellent clean and pleasant host in Bodh Gaya. The principal highlight was owner Santosh, who was readily able to accomodate every request, from kettles to phone chargers to taxi arrangements. Travel in Bihar can be risky at times and having a trusting local host is an enormous relief. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was simple (omelette toast) but more than sufficient. This hotel was, in my experience, the first in this class of hotel. The only issue I encountered was that the water pressure was a little low, but this may have been my own fault and had I raised it with the manager at the time I am sure he would have found a solution. The location of the hotel is a little out from the central Mahabodhi Temple. While this has its advantages in peacefulness be aware there is about a 20 minute walk down the main road to the location.

- Barbara (10/5): Lovely, quiet and clean stay in Bodhgaya! - This is a very lovely stay, Santosh, the owner is superkind! It feels really homey there. The room was spacious and everything was very clean. There is a small desk, enough place to put your belongings. The wifi works very well, the bathroom is nice. There is a roof where you can have breakfast and meditate/chill. The area is much more quiet than the center of Bodhgaya, but still not far, easy to get a tuktuk to go around. If I had any questions or requests, Santosh helped immediately. Thanks a lot! Everything was very good!

Location of the appartments could not be better. Still close to the bodhi temple but luckily still enough far away from the busy and loud action going on directly in the surroundings of the temple. The apartment was very clean and having breakfast in the morning at the amazing roof top terrace was the perfect start of my day!

The property is in a great location, close to the main temple area but in a side street so it’s a bit quieter. The room was great and had a nice little balcony too, and awesome shower with great heat and water pressure.

- Kaj (10/5): Fantastic homestay - The room was amazing. I had the deluxe version &n it was fantastic. Very spacious, very clean, very new hotel. It's a Homestay & the owner makes sure everything is nice for the visitors. The owner is just amazing. We had many laughs, he is very helpful & always make sure things are fine. All in all, great stay. Highly recommended. The property is very quiet due to being off the main road which is great again, but is a bit of a walk to the main attractions. I take the compromise 10/10 times, for some it might be a bit far. But autos will take you to the centre in no time.

Très soucieux du bon déroulement du séjour, il fera de son mieux pour vous aider à trouver des solutions a toutes vos attentes. Santosh a travaillé comme guide, il est de très bon conseil et saura parfaitement vous aider à organiser vos journées de visites autour. Il y a aussi un rooftop agréable. L'hôtel se situe un peu en retrait de la route, c'est assez calme. L'hôtel se situe a 15-20 minutes à pied du Mahabodhi temple (ou 5 minutes en tuktuk pour 50Rs, très facile a trouver). Il y a un splendide temple bhoutanais en construction au bout de la rue (on le voit depuis le rooftop de l'hôtel). Climatisation, ventilateur, petit balcon... Tout était conforme à l'annonce. Beaucoup d'interrupteurs dans la chambre, j'ai mis du temps à comprendre qu'il y en avait un pour "allumer" l'eau chaude. Tout comme il y a un interrupteur pour la télé. Une fois repéré la fonction de chaque bouton c'est ok (c'est une tendance générale en Inde, il faut juste le savoir).

- sally (10/5): A luxurious, clean and very comfortable stay - We’ve loved staying here, the rooms are so comfortable, and the The beds and pillows are soft and luxurious. When it’s so hot outside, and the aircon is on, with the bed it feels like a 5* hotel. Santos is such a welcoming, helpful and friendly guy, who has done so much for us to make our special stay in Bodhgaya easier and more relaxed. The rooftop is an amazing place to hang out. The food we had was delicious. When you walk out of the alley, on your right, next to the shop, is a couple selling one of the tastiest samosa and chai I’ve had in a long time!! There isn’t anything negative to say.
