Guest Reviews
- Jane (10/5): Nice views and good location - Good location easy walk to town and nice walks in the countryside not far away by car. Lovely views from the front and the road in front wasn't too busy. The parking area was small and tricky
- Holly (10/5): Perfect family getaway in the peaks - Had an absolutely wonderful stay at this charming 3-bedroom cottage in Matlock with my family. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The cottage was spotlessly clean, beautifully maintained, and incredibly well equipped with everything we could possibly need — and more.
What really stood out were the thoughtful touches from the hosts that went well beyond the basics — little details that showed they genuinely care about making guests feel at home and comfortable. It’s rare to find a place where you feel this looked after.
We had such a relaxing and memorable time here, and we’re already planning our return. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a perfect getaway in the area — we will definitely be back! Loved it all
- Anggia (9/5): Superb -
- Alex (10/5): Great value for money - Great location
House very clean
Coffee machine
Nicely decorated No coffee table
No mirror in twin room
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - The house was spotlessly clean, comfortably furnished and very well equipped. The study has an excellent supply of books and games. It has impressive views over the valley. The front/side garden had been reseeded and was neat and tidy with a table and chairs, a barbecue and a firepit. The steps down to the road in front have a gate at the top for the safety of guests and pets. The parking area at the rear is not adequate for a large car as the combination of steep, winding, narrow lane and the size of the available space to turn a vehicle makes this impossible . The only alternative would be to reverse down the lane and onto the blind road access. We did it once then thereafter parked on the road in front without any problems.
- Claire (9/5): Lovely Cottage - Clean and well equipped
Spacious living area Tricky driveway to get in / out of
- Suzie (9/5): Lovely cottage. - Lovely cottage, good space, rooms well equipped. Parking - didn't see the issue with parking outside the property on the opposite side of the road where there was space. Obviously the neighbours have the issue...
Recycling - or lack of, there should be the possibility of recycling at the property
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Daisy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional - The Cottage was in an excellent location to visit Chatsworth and Bakewell. It was clean and spacious enough for our family of 6, the cottage also had lovely views. We will be visiting again
- Mandy (7/5): Good -
- Charlotte (8/5): Very good -
- Graham (8/5): Very pleasant and comfortable. - Nicely refurbished property, good sized rooms, comfortable. A second toilet would have been nice
- Sam (8/5): Really enjoyed our stay. The niggles above didn’t spoil it. - The views. The beds were very comfy. Woodburner. Coffee machine with pods. Pub along the road 👍 Terrestrial TV could be easier to use. WiFi very poor. One device only. Need stronger WiFi with booster.
- Ulla (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect stay for our three engineers.
- Suzanne (9/5): Superb - Corner Cottage is a delightful place to stay. We really enjoyed staying there. Lovely decor and in a great location. Super valley views too. Nothing not too like, parking is a little difficult but you know in Derbyshire you're likely to be on a hill. Maybe a bigger TV would be good.
Overall though it was fabulous
- Darren (9/5): Superb - Views, comfortable beds Dishwasher would be great if possible
- Louise (9/5): Lovely little cottage with amazing views! - The cottage was very cosy and comfortable. My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. Everything in the house was straightforward to use, and it was very clean and provided us with what we needed. Check-in was easy, and communication was efficient. The location was very good too. The views from the house were amazing, even on a grey day. The only negative point we had was the parking. The space behind the house is very tricky to get in and out of, especially on a wet day. The off-street parking would be great, but the neighbours are not very friendly and get very territorial with the parking, and some even came across as very rude.
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): Lovely - The property was clean and suitable for 6 of us . Parking outside the property. Close to Chatsworth and Bakewell Center . We had a lovely time There should be a gate at the top of the front stairs and by the bin to stop the dog/small children from leaving the garden
- Michelle (6/5): Pleasant -
- Dinah (8/5): Would definitely recommend - Great location, well equipped, clean and comfortable A little tricky to park on account of the slope!
- Florinel (10/5): Excellent, would definitely recommend it. - Everything was brand new , the view was stunning, we could use the garden as well. The neighbours seem to insist to park next to the shed at the back of the property which I didn’t feel comfortable to climb up with the car, it was a steep hill.
- Lee (10/5): Excellent place. Nice local pubs who are really friendly and excellent views too - Really clean excellent views Wasps nest at the front
- Fred (9/5): we had a lovely time thanks - the views were amazing the cottage was really clean and tidy everthing we needed the cottage had a good selection of games and a good library it was really home from home the parking is really tricky if you were a nervous driver ? and if you were unsteady on your legs the steps are a bit hard but manageable but this is normal for these lovely old cottages
- Claire (9/5): First time in Matlock - Beautiful views from the house. Nicely decorated and clean. Great location with lots of sightseeing activities for young Children. It would have been lovely for our 2 children to be be able to use the garden but unfortunately the grass had not been maintained.
