Guest Reviews
- Phoebe (9/5): -
- Marion (9/5): Great homestay and tours around Tetebatu - We spent 3 very nice days at Dira Bungalows!
Rooms and food are great! We also had a great time with Doni, Pablo and Alda that guide us around Tetebatu and show us the waterfalls, rice fields, traditional fighting and handicrafts. A big thank you to you guys!!
If you are looking for a friendly homestay and guides to show you around it’s the perfect place:) Since it’s a bit in the middle of the nature it’s a bit difficult but independent so guided tours are needed.
- Berend (10/5): - Very very friendly staff. Really immersed u in a great experience of Tetebatu.
Rien
- Karen (7/5): Staff and food great;accommodations need a little work - I really liked the staff and the food. I liked the fact that they did my laundry. The staff went out of their way even to the point of picking me up early from an excursion where I felt unsafe. The lighting in my room was very dim. Questionable hot water. There was a little critter that liked to visit my Bungalows’s and he and I just didn’t get along. Very loud surroundings, so I didn’t have the peace and quiet I was wanting. Also, I made the reservation because online it said they had air conditioning and when I got there, it was only a fan attached to the wall.
- Elisa (10/5): - Amazingly authentic location to stay in, and very friendly staff who were helpful and were flexible to any adjustments we wanted to make to the plans made. The best thing about our stay was the tour through the rice fields and to the waterfalls, we learned so much and had a lot of fun! -
- Hamish (6/5): nice place - but alot of noise to deal with - The beds are comfy and the room was nice, with a little balcony to watch the rice terraces.
Nice breakfast. They helped us with scooter rentals.
Owners will try and help with tours/transport, but theres plenty of good options for this in Tetebatu. Noise noise. Hotel is between two of the loudest, evangelical mosques in Lombok. One starts up at 4:30, other waits until 5:00 to pipe up. Both trying to outdo each other for zest! Not the hotels fault unfortunately,
Also....bit of traffic noise from road (not busy but the scooters rip along). Find a quiet location in the price paddies :)
- Lisa (10/5): Amazing People! - The bungalows are as described — in the middle of the rice fields.
They organise tours through the rice fields, the monkey forest and the waterfalls, as well as through the villages to visit the local markets and to see how tofu and tempeh are made. What made the stay so special were the people working there. The tours with Doni were awesome, and in the evenings we all sang and played games together!
- Aimee (10/5): Authentic way to see Tetebatu! - We really enjoyed the tours - the hosts took us for a lovely walk through the rice fields, local waterfalls, and the monkey forest. They also took us to local villages known for different crafts, and learning to craft with bamboo was a special highlight for us! The hosts are super friendly and went above and beyond to make our trip special when they found out it was our honeymoon. The home-cooked dinner each evening was amazing too, and we loved getting involved with a cooking class there. It was a brilliant way to see a lot of the culture and authentic local life in Tetebatu in just 2 days. Thank you!
- Doni RAS
- Rachel (9/5): The perfect place to stay in Tetebatu! - Lovely, welcoming family who make a nice breakfast and can organise day trips around the local villages and Rinjani treks. Comfortable room with beautiful views and good air con. Great restaurant space with hammocks and views across the rice fields.
- Petula (10/5): Top! Niets.
- yasmine (10/5): -
- Biel (10/5): - Super nice family
- Jasmine (9/5): - Very warming staff
They organize nice village tour
Great home-style food Need a renovation but the owner also has another, newer and very central accommodation
- Emanuela (10/5): - Siamo stati molto bene grazie all' ospitalità della meravigliosa famiglia di Edi. Camere pulite.
- Peggy (10/5): Top accommodatie in Lombok !
- alexandra (9/5): -
- Rebekka (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Tetebatu! - Super clean, large room and nice bathroom. staff was super helpful, they even brought breakfast to the room when my boyfriend was feeling sick. All in all a perfect place to stay. Everything was great! Just one small suggestion: maybe put on the website that the gate to the property is closed at night. We wanted to go buy some snacks at a shop at around 22:00 and we couldn’t get out (or find anyone to let us out)
- Hsiao (10/5): Exceptional - The facilities in the room, breakfast and home-cooking meals are great. Very nice owner and family. The staff there are very friendly and helpful, too. The crater rim trekking tour is recommended if you stay longer in Tetebatu.
- Mani (10/5): Exceptional - We had an excellent stay at dira bungalows. The hospitality from Edi and his family was excellent. We did two tours and both were great! Also special thanks to Dira and Doni!! Nothing!
- Alexandra (10/5): Amazing time in Tetebatu - Edi and his family are amazing! Everything was so nice! He took care of me and my friend. Provided for Everything we needed and asked for. Massage, manicure & pedicure, waterfal, ricefield, local delicacy special request snails from the ricefields 😋😋😋, ricewine, cacao, ATM, laundry, special souvenirs, music every night, scooter, .... just ask for it and you get it! And for a reasonable price! The mattrass was the most comfortable i have had in Indonesia. Food was great. Always with complimentary fruits and water. I had an amazing time at Dira bungalow.
I just came back from Rinjani and it was very convenient to have only 2 steps between my room and the restaurant! As my legs were killing me 😆! The water was not quite hot at start but then I told Edi and he sorted it out and I had my hot shower. So no real issue here 😉
It might feel as if they were selling their tour... which i ended taking and which was actually the best choice ever! I had just the perfect day. Doni (guide) tailored everything to my needs and requests. I learned so much! So again.. no real issue! Just take the tour you won't regret it.
- Caitlin (9/5): Superb - We had such a lovely stay at Edi’s homestay! Edi and his family were so friendly and welcoming — they really made our time in Tetebatu special. The views over the rice paddies are stunning, and the bungalow had everything we needed. The food at the on-site restaurant was delicious and great value. We also joined their trekking tour, which was a real highlight. In the evenings, they played acoustic music and encouraged guests to join in, creating a really warm atmosphere. We were there during Eid, and they even shared traditional food with us for free — such a kind gesture. Highly recommend! The only downside was the lack of hot water in the shower, but everything else was perfect!
- Guido (10/5): Awesome to visit Tetebatu - Restaurant in property with good food and the kindness of host
- Susanna (1/5): No WiFi, no a/c, no hot water, nasty owner - I booked this property so after a long day hiking I could have a hot shower and watch Netflix in bed.
But there was no air conditioning despite it saying there would be on the ad which is why i booked the property in the first place. The WiFi was not working so I couldn’t use my phone (there’s also no signal, so the WiFi was important) and I had no hot water either. I was very upset after a long day and it was very late, so he said I could have my money back and offered me dinner as an apology. The following morning he refused to give me my money back and started shouting at me and intimidating me. He told me to sit down and I said I didn’t want to then he slammed the table to try make me sit down. I was very scared and he was shouting, pointing his finger very close to my face and told me to leave. I left very upset and uncomfortable.
Positives: big room, nice rice fields
- Zacharoula (10/5): Exceptional - I loved everything! So lovely, warm, and welcoming people. I loved talking to them. Also, the food was amazing. The tour we had was amazing too, and overall we are satisfied with our stay, we will definitely come back again! Thank you for everything, terima kasih!
- Arjan (10/5): Amazing surroundings and wonderfull staff - Had a brilliant stay here! Loved the surroundings and driving around past small villages, waterfalls and rice fields. But the best part was the very welcoming host and his big family. Always ready to help and entertain with music, drinks and games. Strongly recommend! Nothing ;)
- Emy (10/5): Exceptional - A perfect and lovely week end thanks to the amazing family of Dira.
Amazing food, beautiful and very clean room and a family always available for you and very friendly.
We did a tour in the rice terrace and waterfall that was superb, thank you for your warm welcome and see you soon 🌸
- Tex (10/5): Great stay, lovely people, beautiful surroundings - We had a lovely stay at Dora Homestay! André was a great guide and showed us around everywhere (Tetebatu is beautiful!). Tuan and his family where very welcoming. And last but not least they’re great cooks, we had breakfast lunch and dinner at there place everyday. Also they gave us fresh fruit with every meal. Would definitely recommend and also come back when we’ll be in Lombok again! Nothing
- Cliff (10/5): Peaceful surroundings and close to the waterfalls. - Beautiful location, lovely family, amazing food, best coffee.
- Elias (10/5): Exceptional - We really liked our stay. The family was so kind and we made a new friend Andre. The food was amazing, we definitely will come back!
- Rachael (7/5): It was overall contenting but the staff made us feel unsafe at times - Peaceful and has a good uncover area which was good for when it rained a lot. The rooms were clean Quite secluded from the rest of the town, hard to access other shops and restaurants. Felt a little isolated
- Nicolas (7/5): Good -
- Annika (10/5): We have a lovely time at Dira Bungalow. The food was amazing. I highly recommend to try all of it. The hosting family is - Everything! Peaceful Location surrounded by beautiful rice fields and a lot of fruit trees.
- Simon (9/5): Superb - The staff is very friendly
- Omri (9/5): Superb - Amazing family vibes and great stuff.
I had 3 nights at Dira bungalows. The room itself is very basic but clean with great view to the rice fields. Nice common sitting area and balcony and nice little restaurant with great local food.
The family are amazing people, super friendly and helpful with showing around, they took care about me and shared everything with.me.,after 3 days it felt like being part of the fam.
Staying at Tetebatu was my favourite part of my trip to Lombok and I can't wait to be back ;)
- Laura (8/5): Very good -
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claudia (10/5): I had the best time at Dira Bungalows with the incredible staff. - All the rooms are beautiful and clean nothing
- Kim (10/5): Loved it! - Stayed 2 nights with my friend, both in the comfy bungalow in the middle of green nature. We were warmly welcomed and the next day we went on a tour by scooter with Andre and Rizal to the waterfalls, rice fields and the Monkey Forrest where we spotted black and grey monkeys. Had a wonderful and relaxing day! On the last evening a large group of friends came over again. They made music together and grilled fresh chicken on a campfire. It was so cozy and we met a lot of lovely people! I will never forget this evening! ❤️
- Andreia (8/5): Nice for a one night stay - The location is right in the middle of beautiful green fields, easy to reach and manager was kind and welcoming upon arrival. The bed was okay and the space worked fine for a one night stay. A sugestion would be to have some more light in the room, is very hard to see much at night. The cleaning could be a bit better, I understand is surrounded by nature but there were quite a lot of spider webs mainly in the toilet. The room had no window, expect for a tiny one next to the door. 3 of the rooms woke up at sunrise to watch it from the fields as suggested by the owner, but we were locked inside the property, so we all missed sunrise.
- Carla (10/5): Beautiful - Beautiful location and room with comfortable bed. Incredible views all around.
The staff are kind and welcoming. Very helpful and personally took me around to all of the sights.
I only had 2 nights but could easily spend more time here as there is a lot to see. And also it is very nice just to relax in the gorgeous surroundings. Peaceful and quiet.
I ate every meal at the restaurant and was very happy with the good quality local food.
I highly recommend and will definitely return.
- Matthijs (6/5): Pleasant -
- James (10/5): Exceptional - I have never wrote a reveiw before but this place deserves it!!!
Dira bungalows was amazing. The owner Majidi (eddy) and all of his family were so so kind and they make you feel as part of their family. The room was lovely and so was the food. The surroundings are amazing, its set in the middle of rice fields.I had a health issue while staying and they called out the best doctor in Lombok to take me to hospital were i was treated better than in my own country. I cannot explain how gratefull i am. His wife and sons were so kind and even prepared food at nearly midnight because i was hungry. His son Max is such a nice person and is now a personal friend of mine, they invite you to eat, drink sing and play music all night long with them. An amazing place with amazing people. I 100% recommend it and will return.
- Ainoa (7/5): Insistent owners but nice place - It’s a nice place with new furniture and good views. It’s not for you if you are the kind of guest who wants to explore on his own because since you arrive there, they want to sell you thousands of tours and they don’t tell you that you can do it completely alone. Apart from than, the owner made a homophobic comment so I decided to change my accommodation in Tetebatu for the rest of nights.
- Lucas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Noah (10/5): Amazing! I will definitely come back! - I had an amazing stay and really enjoyed my time at Dira Bungalow! I just wanted to stay two nights at first but extended for two more nights.
The Bungalows are basic but very clean and cozy. The big bed is very comfortable. It is not to hard and not to soft and it has a mosquito net you can use. You got a ventilator in the room (no ac) which i never used because you are next to the mount rinjani so especially in the evening and during the night it cools down by it self to a very nice temperature. They have such a nice view as well. Either on mount rinjani or their own chilli and rice garden.
The food is super tasty. They cook it fresh after you ordered it and it is plenty! I can highly recommend to try the family dinner where they provide a freshly cooked ‘all you can eat’ buffet of local dishes for all their guests. Also very good are the spring rolls which i already struggled to finish and on top of that they served us a plate with fresh local fruit every evening and morning on the house. They shared their snacks with us so we can try them and you can always order a coffee or a tea for free. But we also didn’t miss to try the local rice wine. Sometimes a couple of glasses in the evening. 😉
The owners and the staff are such friendly people. I felt like a part of a big family (maybe because it is a whole family including the son and his cousins) who run the whole accommodation. In the evening after dinner we all sat on the big table and they started making music and we started singing together. Once we were out of breath we continued playing music of our own choice over some speakers and just talked until very late and shared some good laughs. On the last evening we had a little party and we all danced together. We had such an amazing time!
They offer two tours as well. Only a few things that aren’t there fault:
At around 4am in the morning you can hear the morning prayer of the mosques for about half an hour which is quite loud. In the first night i got woken up by it but it was something that didn’t really annoy me because they stop after 20/30 minutes and you can continue sleeping. So i recommend to bring some ear plugs or to drink some rice wine in the evening so you can sleep through. 😉
It is also a little bit hard to reach unless you come with your own scooter. So prepare to pay a little bit for the pick up or a taxi but it is definitely worth it!
And now in the end just two little things that i would have wished for:
The banana pancakes would be even better if you would serve them with a little chocolate sauce/ maple syrup/ honey. (They gave us some on request.)
And also if you could decide how much the tours in the rice fields or the handcraft tour cost without changing the price a couple of times.
- Visschers (10/5): Amazing! - Had the best time with Eddie and his family! We were welcomed very warm with drinks and live music. They really make your stay the best. We got a tour through Tetebatu and saw all the nice things like how tofu and coffee are made and we went to the local market. The family is always laughing, singing, playing guitar. Special thanks to Chank, Andre, Eddie, Dira, Juda & the rest of the fam <3
- Max (10/5): Exceptional - We loved our stay with Erizal and his family! The room was clean and the food Erizal prepared was delicious. He showed us around on a tour through the rice fields and was just a lovely and funny host. We would definitely come again. Thank you for having us!
- Alisya (10/5): A beautiful stay on Lombok. - Beautiful location surrounded by rice fields, delicious food, and a lovely room too. The owner and his family were very kind, organised trips for us and even a birthday party for me.
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay here was truly amazing!
The family is so sweet, warm and helpful. We felt welcome and at home doing the whole stay. We had lovely tours in the surrounding nature, that is so beautiful and pure. They were very flexible, and we were able to eat breakfast and go on tours whenever it suited us best. The homemade food is very delicious with fruit and greens from the homestay’s many gardens.
We had the best evening with bonfire, family and friends playing guitar and singalong.
The room was cozy and clean.
We highly recommend anyone who comes to Lombok to stay at Dira Bungalows!
We definitely want to come back someday.
Thank you for everything!
The warmest greetings
Molly and Sara
- Darija (9/5): Superb -
- Catherine (9/5): Love it! Would definitely visit again! - Amazing hosts, Erizal and Eddie were so helpful and friendly. Erizal took us on 2 awesome tours and in the evenings brought his guitar and drums out for some evening entertainment. The room was perfect, a large room with a comfy bed and had an amazing view for your morning coffee.
The breakfast and food served there was amazing, all sourced locally from their garden and was cooked perfectly. The water for the shower was cold
