Guest Reviews
- Marley (10/5): Loved it - It was very clean. It still feels new. Bed was good and large and comfortable. Interiors were super nice! Vibe of the place was sooo good. We felt safe. Aircon was working well. The owner was very nice. They allowed early check in which was amazing! Few stains on the sheets but it was acceptable. Few bugs coming from outside but understandable coz there are a lot of plants outside.
Location is a bit far from the center of Ubud. From the main road, you also need to walk through an alley to get to the griya.
- erika (10/5): - Ari and his Father are very welcoming.room is comfortable and clean.pool was also clean and beautiful.
- m (10/5): - I absolutely loved Griya Tropical! It was really amazing! The room was really big and clean. The shared common space in the kitchen/cooking area was well stocked with everything you need. Plus the fridge was not one of those little ones. It was a full size fridge which I really appreciated. The wonderful pool outside of the rooms is beautiful and well taken care of. Griya Tropical is an excellent place to stay because it's so nice and clean and just a few minutes outside of Ubud city center so it's really calm and quiet. They rent scooters which are new. If you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle but be close by, it's the place for you! I will definitely go back to Griya Tropical! The owner even gave me a scooter ride to help me find a place I wanted to visit on my stay. Thank-you Gus Ari! See you next year!!!!!!! I can't say anything I didn't like

- Mustika Larasati (9/5): Very pleasant and accommodating - The property was spacious and very comfortable during short stay. I think it would be nice for a longer stay as well. The location is a bit far from central Ubud, but if you want somewhere more quiet I think Griya Tropical is ideal.
- Isabela Angela (10/5): -
- Kris Anne (10/5): Great stay with great hosts - The location is not within central Ubud, probably 10-20 mins by motorbike or car. With this, the place is really quiet and perfect for relaxation and unwinding. The room and place itself are really lovely, clean and well-maintained. Ari and his father were great hosts. They were very kind and accommodating with our requests. They even helped when we were unable to secure food before Nyepi Day. Overall a great stay with great hosts :)
- Myles (10/5): Amazing!! - I loved everything about it! Cozy, clean, quiet, and peaceful. Complete amenities with kitchen, balcony, pool. I loved our stay. Super comfortable. The bed was amazing. My sleep was great there. Ari was very accomodating. They had scooter rental there already as well. Will definitely recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful stay. Will go back to Ubud and bring my family here! Wouldn’t change anything!
- Konstantina Anna (10/5): Beautiful jungle vibes homestay! Calm and peaceful - Our room was spotless clean, natural jungle views, quiet and relaxing. The mattress was super comfortable and large. The pool is beautiful and well maintained. Mr Rai and Ari made our stay unforgettable with their kindness and their hospitality.
- Bridget (10/5): Beautiful room. Private and really comfortable and secluded ! - Rooms were private , comfortable and homely.
Quite and peaceful. Quite remote

- Kuanyshkyzy (3/5): - Staff First of all, I want to warn that this place is not exactly in Ubud, but on the outskirts. It’s better to stay closer to the Monkey Forest area in central Ubud. The rooms need repainting, the walls are dirty, and the bathroom has some mold. The sink is also dirty and needs a proper cleaning — I honestly felt sick when I first saw it. I don’t even understand why the reviews are so good. Yes, the people are friendly and welcoming, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s dirty here.
The kitchen — oh my God… the owners really need to renovate it, add lighting, at least get a microwave, and replace the old utensils with new ones. Also, there are no hand towels; the bath towels are dark, so it’s hard to tell whether they’re clean or not.
Wifi wasn’t stable, that’s why I needed to spend some time and money in coworking (but I asked owners before booking about wifi)
I stayed for 2 weeks — and it was 2 weeks of disappointment. I almost fell into depression, but it was already too late to move because I didn’t want to spend extra money.
- Jeevashini (7/5): Nice - The staffs were really nice. The distance is a bit far from the centre. But accessible by car.
- Orkhan (7/5): -
Piękne pokoje, zadbane przestrzenie wspólne i basen. Przemiła obsług - Wszystko było znakomicie, mały, kameralny hotel, zero chałasu ulicy i spalin. Miła i pomocna obsługa, która świetnie rozmawia w języku angielskim. Dodatkowo można wypożyczyć skuter. Basen i cała przestrzeń wspólna nowa, zadbana i czysta. Kuchnia dobrze wyposażona. Jeśli chodzi o lokalizacje według mnie idealna. 10 minut skuterkiem do centrum Ubud.

- Gunes (10/5): Lovely host, beautiful, clean and aesthetic place ✨ - Everything was perfect—the pool, the room, and the overall aesthetic were so pleasing. The staff were incredibly lovely and helpful, always making me feel welcome. For the value, it’s honestly unbeatable.
Just a little reminder: you need to book at least two nights here. If you see no availability on Booking.com, try searching for 2 nights instead (don’t make the same mistake I did 😅).
Highly recommend this place ❤️ -

- Alexandra (10/5): Loved it, great host and a great deal for how clean and nice the space was to stay in for 6 days :) - We loved our stay here and would highly recommend, a short 20-minute scooter into central ubud which was nice to be on the outskirts of Ubud. Best host, well taken care of, and a very clean and nice room :)
- Cathy (9/5): Lovely property, tucked away from the busyness of Ubud - Lovely quiet place, only 10-15 mins to centre by scooter (used Grab app) view from top floor overlooking other villas, trees. Nice pool & shared kitchen. Good warung about 5 mins down the road Bathroom small but serves the purpose!
- Rao (10/5): It’s very good and cozy stay. Convenient to go any where as it’s nearby 10mins and I was looking for activities I couldn -
- Vivien (10/5): Cozy villa in a small tropical paradise - This place truly has it all! Super comfortable rooms with amazing interior, a well equipped shared kitchen, ideal setup for work (fast internet and working stations), a nice clear pool to cool off - everything in a tropical environment! Not to mention that the owner family was very kind and supportive. Probably my favourite stay in Asia. Thank you for that! I can only recommend it!
- Jolene (9/5): Easeful, comfortable and very pleasant! - Homely feel, very clean, lovely and helpful staff There were a few loud talkative neighbours very occasionally - closed doors and windows let in any talking by the pool and kitchen (my room was next to both). But it was not a big issue at all as it didn't happen often and I only had to tell some guests to keep it down one evening when they were up quite late. The staff helped to tell them as well when I informed them about the issue one evening. Overall it was beautifully quiet most of the time!!
- Stephenson (7/5): Good -
- Katarína (10/5): Peaceful oasis just outside of Ubud center - This place is a hidden gem in Ubud. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, clean, and comfortable. The room design was super cute and made me feel right at home. The owner is such a kind and welcoming person, always helpful and full of good energy. The view from the upstairs room was breathtaking, especially at sunrise. I also loved the quiet garden and the pool, since there weren’t many guests, it felt really private and relaxing.
The location is just outside the busy center of Ubud, so it's very peaceful, but still really convenient, just a 10 minute scooter ride to town. The road to get there is a bit narrow and hidden, but I had no issues at all with motorbike access or Grab pickups.
Would definitely come back :) such a special and tranquil place!
- Jan (7/5): Good - The view of Batur was nice. There was also a pool, which we didn’t use in the end, but it looked quite clean. The bed was high and comfortable. Breakfast was included and they brought it to our room (we couldn’t eat outside because of the flies). The road to this place is only possible from the south. You cannot come from the north, and the owner should tell this before. I cannot imagine someone wanting to come from the north. The towels could be cleaner, and there could be one more for the feet (I forgot to ask for it). At some times, there are many flies outside, so you cannot have breakfast outside. You must close the doors quickly to keep flies out. But this is normal for this area, and the owner cannot change it. It is the same at other places nearby. It is good to have insect spray and a plug-in repellent with you.
The price could be lower for the value you get.
- Rachel (9/5): Awesome stay for those wanting some distance from the Ubud chaos - Lovely design with serene balconies on the upper level. Comfortable and quiet rooms. Use of kitchen and water tap. Quite far from the sights and restaurant areas, but still an urban setting (lot's of houses, businesses, traffic). No food service.
- Dorothy (8/5): highly recommend the place :) - The staff was very friendly and helpful. I loved my room, which is very affordable and clean. As the number of people who stayed in Griya were small, I could also enjoy the swimming pool fully. Highly recommended it, especially for those who work from there or travel alone :) Just one thing... I found the sink to be slightly too high, which made it a bit inconvenient.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - Cozy villa, very friendly and helpful host. I'll definitely come back here again!
- Kaisa (10/5): Would definitely stay there again if we come back to Ubud! - We stayed in Griya Tropical for 16 nights and couldv’e not asked for a better place. Kindest staff, always so welcoming and helpful. Super quiet location and even the narrow street going up to the Villa wasn’t a problem with a scooter, just a few minute walk from the bigger street anyways. The whole place was always kept clean, which made it nice to spend a few days by the refreshing pool. Also they have a kitchen area, perfect for making yourself a nice breakfast.
- Paula (10/5): Don’t think twice if you want to book this place is just amazing! - The place is absolutely beautiful—peaceful, clean, and surrounded by lush greenery. What truly made our stay unforgettable was the warmth of the hosts. They kindly share their culture with us, even including us in their Galungan celebrations, which was such a special and meaningful experience. It felt like more than just a stay—it felt like being welcomed into a home. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic, serene, and heartwarming stay in Bali! N/a
- Makam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jan (9/5): Overall, the stay was pleasant and I would gladly return. - The accommodation was quiet and pleasant. There was a nice pool. The internet was good. The owner was friendly and helpful. During our stay, we had free access to snake fruit. We found a few cockroaches in the room, but considering the location in Ubud, it can be expected.
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Prokhor (10/5): Perfect Stay in Ubud – Highly Recommended! - I had an incredible experience staying at this hotel in Ubud! Everything was absolutely perfect – from the peaceful atmosphere to the outstanding hospitality of the staff.
The location is ideal, surrounded by lush greenery and just a short distance from Ubud’s main attractions. The room was spotless, beautifully designed in a Balinese style, and very comfortable. Waking up to the sounds of nature was truly magical!
The hotel’s pool was amazing, offering a relaxing escape after a day of exploring. WiFi was fast and reliable, which was a great bonus.
The owner went above and beyond to make my stay memorable – always friendly, attentive, and ready to assist with anything.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, beautiful, and well-managed hotel in Ubud, this is the perfect choice! I will definitely be back. 🌿✨😊 At first the road to the place was a bit tricky but the owner resolved that issue quickly and now it has no problems to worry about.
- Dmitrii (9/5): Peaceful, quiet and chill stay with quality you don't expect from Bali - Very cozy and well maintained guest house for only four rooms. Quiet and calm vibe, very responsive and helping host. Shockingly clean kitchen and common space with the pool (compared to other guesthouses in Bali).
The ACs are new, well maintained and positioned in such a way to avoid blowing on the beds.
Wi-Fi has enough speed and reliability for video calls or watching videos online.
Two rooms on the first floor feature a calming view on the rooftops, palms and clouds. Two rooms on the ground floor feature fast access to the swimming pool. The street this guest house is located on pretty challenging for the bike ride (and impossible for a car), keep this in mind.
The place is a bit away from restaurants and groceries in favor of being quiet.
- Jay (10/5): A peacful oasis where you can truly rest in comfort. - -Amazing sunrise view
-Clean Room and Bathroom with Hot Shower
-Beautiful Pool surrounded by Plants
- -Like other reviews say the small alley road is rough, but if you’re a semi-experienced rider and can locked in its nothing major (See last pic lol)
- Wifi would go in and out on phone, but worked fine for laptop!
- Maria (8/5): Very nice accommodation near Ubud - Very nice accommodation with a kind host, clean pool and nice rooms. Some of the bedroom walls could use a little refreshment paint and the bathroom sink and ventilation shaft could be cleaned better. But these are minor inconveniences.
Otherwise everything felt very comfortable and clean there.
- Carlos (9/5): Superb - The facilities where great and in a very quiet area The last 100 meters to the property was a very marrow alley with unstable pavement and difficult to get by scooter.
- Mohamed (2/5): Very poor -
- Maan_hang (10/5): Highly Recomended 💯 - Room is very nice and clean. Very quiet and peaceful. Really enjoyed my solitude and the owner is very nice and accomodating. Will definitely come back again 😊
- Ines (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brock (9/5): Superb -
- Mariia (10/5): Hidden gem in Ubud - - Very friendly and attentive owner of guesthouse
- The common areas like kitchen and pool are lovely - plants everywhere, style is awesome - harmony between authentic Balinese home and western apartments
- Room is new and clean
- Peaceful and calm atmosphere - The location is a little bit far from Ubud city center - you always need to order taxi or own scooter to get there, but still, it's also a benefit, because you get authentic experience and no traffic around
- Kahraman (10/5): I really enjoyed - Property manager is very friendly and everyday asked if we need anything. Property is very clean. Location is far from central. You need transportation and the route is very narrow.
- Nagaraj (9/5): Superb -
- Zavertailo (10/5): Exceptional - We loved everything! The host was an embodiment of kindness! He was so friendly and caring! It isn't a spacious hotel, but we had everything we needed! We loved the idea of having our own kitchen to cook sth. The room was clean and it was a sheer bliss to spend 4 days there!
there was a beautiful rice field right on the left of the hotel. not touristic one, which sweetened the pill! location is pretty far from the city center, so you have to splurge on Grab daily to get to more or less popular sights and destinations.
- Sara (10/5): Rai, the owner, is an exceptional person. He is incredibly helpful, kind, and always willing to assist. He was also wond - Rai, the owner, is an exceptional person. He is incredibly helpful, kind, and always willing to assist. He was also wonderful with our children. The house itself is fantastic, beautifully designed with a local, stylish touch. The neighbourhood genuinely makes you feel like you're in Bali. Don't expect a Western-style area catered to tourists; instead, it offers the authentic beauty of Balinese culture. The neighbours are fantastic, and you can take a walk in the rice fields right behind the house, without needing to visit the touristy ones. N/A
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent guesthouse. Very nice rooms. Great value for money
- Margo (10/5): Calm place and recharging your life batteries 🏄♀️ - The host Rai was always so hospitable. I srayed there for 2 weeks and I liked.
Highly recommend to visit Nusa Penida and its Kerlingking clif and beach. I went down there by tricky stairs but a lot of insights got.
Mom's kitchen is a fine warung near, where you can eat tasty and cheap food. I work remotely so I chose places on Bali with the fast Internet. During my trip to Bali I worked in evenings from my laptop. And sometimes, espin tge evenings, the Internet was unstable, but even when no rain. For example, the signal wasn't enough to make a video call by Google Meet. The room was on the 2d floor. No ideas why. This was the only one inconvenience.
Also the water in the pool was too cold to swim.
- Samuel (9/5): Superb -
- Alexis (10/5): In LOVE with Griya Tropical 😍🌴 - Things I LOVE about Griya Tropical🌴:
🌴 The location. 15 minutes from Ubud center by scooter. Peaceful among the Bali locals.
🌴 The design. This place is a beautiful blend of modern & traditional balinese design. I was IN LOVE with my room and the surrounding facilities.
🌴 The view. The view from the upstairs rooms of the local bali rooftops and treetops is BEAUTIFUL. I loved sitting on the balcony and taking in the gorgeous space.
🌴 The wifi. The wifi worked great 100% of the time. Never any problems. This is huge!
🌴 The shower. The water pressure was great and I always had enough hot water. So good!
🌴 The owner. Rai is very helpful and kind. It was always good to see him smile as I came and left the villa.
- Līva (9/5): Superb -
- Maxim (4/5): Disappointing -
- Katia (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was soooo amazing, rai the host is such a beautiful soul. Just go there
- Kevin (10/5): Relaxing - We life near the locals and just 10 minutes away from central ubud. It was bery quiet and peacefull. The room is really clean. The property is in the alley, so there is no parking spot for cars. Only just for bikes. If you using car, u will park it in the street which is 100 meters away from the property
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jesse (4/5): Disappointing - The property was very cute overall, although it seems they prioritized cuteness over functionality. The bed itself was quite comfortable, but the room was not soundproof and we could hear a lot of noise from other guests in the morning. Although the host was nice, I felt the property was overpriced and was honestly expecting more. I personally wouldn't stay here again, because of how difficult it was to access. The other reviews joked about the driveway being narrow but it was much worse than expected... in fact, it's a very narrow concrete alley around 1 meter wide that's shared with several other homes. It's so narrow that you can't even turn your motorbike around if needed, and the property only has parking space for around 3 motorbikes or so total, so it's quite the process to deal with every time you leave or return. It goes without saying that taxis, Grab or Gojek deliveries are all but impossible too, as the main street is also very narrow so there's no place for them to stop and wait. The location is simply terrible for making a hotel business, but at least they could have reduced the number of rooms and increased parking space. There was also a large family staying there, and they used the only small kitchen/sitting area constantly (next door from our room) so it just felt kind of crowded. The bathroom doors are also so "cute" that it's quite difficult to actually get in and out of the bathroom.
- Jens-uwe (10/5): Amazing place with attention to detail. Very quiet, without the hustle and bustle of Ubud. I had a very pleasant stay. -
- Svetlana (10/5): Very nice place to stay in Ubud - Very lovely place, I stayed for 9 nights. I rented a motorbike in Denpasar and traveled to Ubud with hand luggage.
The place is very calm and clean, host is super friendly and helpful. The price for such a clean and modern place is very good. There is a swimming pool and kitchen where you can easily cook your meal if you are tired of Ubud food (I was not tired :)). Griya Tropical is just 10 min away (driving) from a very popular place - Yoga Barn, so I was waking up quite early for my yoga classes. So, I do recommend this place for staying. Entrance to the place from the main road is pretty steep.
- Alfred (10/5): Exceptional -
- Agunda (9/5): Superb - Hard to get your luggage- can’t come up there by car
- Ignas.sm (10/5): Exceptional - The place was excellent all arround!
The host can be taken as an example for other hosts how to treat their guests. He was really friendly, helpful and even helped organizing scooter rental, tickets to tradional dances and gave a huge amount of recommendations.
The rooms were spacious, well equiped and comfortable. The envirovment was really cozy and "Balinese"
A perfect place all around! -
- Callan (10/5): Amazing, Rai was so helpful & friendly. - Amazing property, friendly staff & great location. Nothing
- Aaron (10/5): U.S. solo traveler - From the moment I walked in until the day I left I was treated with absolute kindness! The owner was so kind. The room was beautiful with a look into the pool! I highly recommend! N/a
- Grimbeek (10/5): Hidden paradise with no tourists and very friendly people - Very nice and hidden place! so quiet and beautiful!!
Would 100% book again
