- Michelle (8/5): -
- Glen (3/5): Disappointing giving the price of the room. - Great location Property and room were very cold and lack overall heating, had to wait 10 minutes for room to be ready. Not allowing food drink to be brought into the hotel. Rooms very old fashioned and need updating.
- Beverley (8/5): Pleasant stay. Thank you. - Lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. Went out of their way to help us which we greatly appreciated. Very professional and kind.
Hotel lounge looked nice and homely. Comfortable and clean. Very happy with our stay. Although the breakfast was tasty, cooked and presented well, we thought it needed some moisture. Perhaps swap the tomato half for tinned or possibly add some beans? Otherwise, it was lovely.
- Amelia (8/5): - Un hotel tranquilo, limpio, y personal amables, buena relación calidad precio, recomendable
- Joanna (10/5): Will be back.! - Lovely friendly family run hotel… breakfast was ist class.. will be back next time we are up visiting friends

- Paul (9/5): Excellent stay - Really nice clean hotel with good customer service and very friendly staff. Went out of their to provide breakfast early so we could eat before we left on the morning. NA
- lesley (7/5): Was OK, would be better in the summer time. - Breakfast was good, owners were nice & welcoming. Room was a bit chilly, bathroom needs an upgrade.
- Kirk (10/5): -
- Colin (8/5): Hotel more than acceptable for my requirements. - Price reflected my stay and I will stay again.
Food good, staff friendly, location great, facilities were good considering price.
Parking was adiquate and well lit.
Well stoked bar. I did not dislike anything,
- Ann (10/5): A friendly, welcoming hotel with spotless rooms. - Breakfast was excellent - a great start to the day :) staff were friendly and accommodating n/a

- Mags (10/5): Arrived as guests and left feeling like family. - The rooms where very basic howver provided the necccessary comforts for the stay. We as a family new what was provided within the hotel and where happy with the rooms the food the exceptional service from the staff and the personal touches implemented to cater to my large family groups of over 30 people. Can not fault anything. We would like to thank sugath his wife, auntie and their boys and also the bar staff summer who brought the bells in with us. We will definelty return.
- Avril (8/5): Id happily stay there again. - Good location, with car park. Attentive and helpful staff. Nice room. Good breakfast.
- Tom (5/5): - Location is very good we have stayed at the northern a few times in the past and were very happy, but on this occasion We did not get the size of bed we requested and the room window was slightly stuck open, we were constantly awakened by passing lorries during the night, not happy on this stay.
- Martin (3/5): Okay would I again...No - Location It smelt really bad Gad to sleep with window open
- ALAN (9/5): - Wasn't too sure about the location to start with but once inside it became irrelevant. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and welcoming. The decor was very tastefully done with the room being both warm and comfortable. Breakfast though on the pricey side was very good.
- Helen (3/5): Sadly wouldn’t stay again unless updated would happily go for food or drink - The staff were very nice and really helpful the food was good it was the hotel itself that lacked. Very large crack in shower tray poorly repaired
No heat in bathroom in room phone broken plug broken very thin duvet for winter in Scotland used blanket which helped a bit but was stained paintwork and decor grubby needed refreshing bed needs new mattress very uncomfortable we paid £78 a night without breakfast others who booked a after us paid much more but was all that was available locally and was for a funeral the hotel hosted the wake which was very good again staff were really nice we ate breakfast/brunch in the town which was cheaper.
It is a beautiful building and with some investment could be a great place to stay
In future we will try an air B&B or B&B when in the area.

- Mike (7/5): - A quiet comfortable Hotel with good food.8 The Breakfast was lacking and did not match the menu...very little continental.6
- Phil (4/5): Was good once but that was a long time ago now. - Central location Room very tiered Very small and rough. Shower not good broken window and most uncomfortable bed I’ve slept in for a long time.
- Helen (10/5): -
- Gillian (7/5): -
- leadbetter (8/5): - Lovely Staff great location needs updating.
- Darren (6/5): -
- Anthony (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Brechin - Brilliant hosts, they are the best All good
- Jacqui (8/5): -
- Calum (8/5): -
- Pip (5/5): passable - Location is the reason for the stay as limited option shower was filthy
- Paula (5/5): Never eat anything there as very limited and expensive, lost sleep from busy road , wouldn’t return - Not much Noise from busy road, shower basic , out dated , lack of food options
- Ruth (7/5): It was convenient for a family occasion within Brechin. - We enjoyed having the restaurant and bar facilities for ease of meeting with family in Brechin itself. The meals were very enjoyable. At check in the bedroom was very cold and when I queried this it was due to the heating being on a timer. In the evening after our meal it was warm then.
Also one of the single beds ( pushed together which we fine with as it was a bigger room) was very creaky and noisy at the slightest movement which kept on disturbing my husband’s sleep.
- JAGO (10/5): If in the Brechin area look no further. - From the minute we arrived until the minute we departed we realised we were in a special place. Every member of staff treated us with respect and civility and we felt part of the hotel We were there for 5 nights and so got to know them very well. Food was excellent. Recommend the "fry-up" for breakfast. . Bed comfortable. Room very clean as was the whole hotel. Having to leave at the end of our stay. If or when we are in the Brechin area in the future we will not hesitate to book a room here again.
- Marian (10/5): I would happily return - Wonderful breakfast. And staff All good
- Jessica (4/5): Tired and dated property with less than clean rooms doesn't match price per night - Location as needed for working in the middle of Brechin was great as it was very central. The staff were definitely the highlight. They couldn't have been more nice or helpful and were incredibly lovely. The entire property is incredibly dated and tired, which just didn't match the price of the rooms per night. For that price, I've stayed in much nicer properties. Additionally, the bedrooms were tidied but not very clean - there was black mould in the bathroom, stains on towels and hair on the sheets on my bed. My coworker had a similar experience in her room.
- De Gruyther (3/5): Northern wasn’t the ideal stay and was just a night but there really is limited availability in Brechin.staff are friend - Accessible, parking available on site, breakfast ok, staff were friendly. Burn marks in carpet, limited lighting inside. We had a large round room that felt like a porn set to be honest.
- Anthony (8/5): A pleasant stay for the price - Great staff Clean
- Colin (2/5): - No wifi in room. Staff more interested in not drinking any thing not bought there than my comfort
- Reneau (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and attentive.
- Hilary (8/5): - Friendly staff and very clean hotel
- Gaye (7/5): - The staff were friendly. The rooms don't look like the photos, and there was a club downstairs with loud music until late.
- Jacqueline (9/5): -
- Pete (7/5): Needs some updating . Quiet . Good parking - Bathroom very good Bed needs replacing
- Fuhrmann (1/5): -
- Frederick (5/5): -
- chris (7/5): - Welcoming staff. Great shower.
- Hazel (10/5): -
- Ewan (9/5): Friendly and help full staff nothing was a problem good food - Staff were all very helpful and nothing was a problem food was good and plenty of it
Would come back again rooms require a bit of TLC but they have started on them and it all takes time clean and tidy
- Nigel (10/5): - The owner was very pleasent & helpful. Breakfast exerlent as well
Hotel clean & tidy
Will stay there again
Really worth stay there near the Glen Cadam distillery
- Sheena (5/5): - Location Ver tired decor
Soft mattress
Uninviting corridor to rooms
- james (3/5): - Did not have breakfast location was good hotel parking is limited first come first served Attitude to rectify small problems is non existing. Hotel requires a total refurbishment especially the bedrooms they give you two keys to the beedroom door but only one fits we requested two rooms together but got two rooms the furthest points apart and for one of them on the ground floor you have to pass by the kitchen and the toilets from the bar so anyone can acess the ground floor rooms not great for a so called three star hotel.
- Tanyia (10/5): -
- Amanda Dinning (10/5): Great place for a weekend break - The shower was lovely and powerful
The room was very spacious and clean
The staff were brilliant and very friendly
Nothing was a bother Nothing
- Sonja (7/5): -
- Iain (5/5): Unfortunately will not visit this hotel again. - Staff were pleasant and helpful, had a lovely evening meal. Bed, single, was clearly old / broken, mattress was uncomfortable, television didn't work, poor wi-fi network, room quite dated.
- Isla (9/5): Superb -
- Keith (8/5): Perfect for my short stay in Brechin. - Staff helpful and room very comfortable
- Iain (7/5): Good - Good location, simple and clean Noisy on Saturday evening
- Moira (9/5): Superb -

- Irvine (7/5): Good - Staff were excellent, very helpful. Breakfast mediocre
- Michael (8/5): Good stay, great meal - Just off main road to Aberdeen, hotel car parking available. Very hospitable staff had an excellent evening meal (carrot and orange soup followed by Sri Lankan curry) Hotel bit dated,en suite very good
- Wardlaw (5/5): Passable - Staff were really friendly and the evening meal was excellent.
Bedsheets and linen were very clean. The room was very tired as was the walk in toilet come wet room.
- Barry (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (5/5): If your desperate an ok choice - Seved a purpose for us as passing through and needed somewhere urgent to stay. Food actually decent, just as well as nowhere else in town to eat from our search and walk round. Good secured off road parking.Fruenfly owner and staff. Room not the best, place has potential
- Kenneth (9/5): Nice wee hotel well located for exploring Angus - Friendly owner and staff and looks well maintained and welcoming inside. The room was also clean and comfortable. Only slight quibble was the pillows (which seemed to be feather down style,) while initially comfortable weren't very supportive. I did note a spare pillow in the cupboard and I probably could have gone and asked for a different one had I been staying longer but it wasn't practical for one night by the time I realised.
- Lynn (8/5): Very good - Staff were very welcoming. It's a great location and good to have it's own car park in town centre. Large room with a sofa was great.
- Raymond (7/5): Convenient for a stopover on our trip - Convenient. Staff very helpful and dinner in the hotel restaurant was very good The property was very run down
