- esther (10/5): Our second time staying in this building and it was just as good as the last time. - Spotlessly clean, easy to get to by bus at Jose y Mesa bus stops or Santa Catalina bus station (no need for taxi from the airport, just catch the 60 or the 91 from bus stand 5 at the airport and stay on the bus until the terminus at Santa Catalina bus station. Fare was about €2 each, several buses per hour, you can pay by cash or contactless). The view of the seafront and sunset over the distant hills and the new moon over the sea from the balcony was spectacular. Beautifully minimalist decoration made it feel so light & airy. Fall asleep & wake to the sound of the waves. There are some very good tavern & ‘mom & pop’ homestyle restaurants in the immediate area serving well-prepared authentic Spanish & Canarian food and bakeries / fresh food markets all around for churros or picnics on the beach or balcony. Particularly recommend Ohh My Goshh by the entrance lobby run by a Cuban couple (“we’ve been married 40 years”) for excellent steaks, Tasca Malquerida for tapas-style sharing platters and Meson El Campechano up the road towards Mesa y Lopez bus stand with its barrel tables for Andalusian specialties. The lifts are very small - a tight squeeze for two people and luggage. If you have any mobility problems the lifts’ outer doors must be opened manually - despite the ramp at the building entrance lobby it is not suitable for wheelchair or walking-frame users. Fine though if you are fit & able-bodied.
