- Adi (10/5): A Perfect Stay in a Perfect Location - From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. Rob was always available and incredibly helpful with any questions we had, which made everything smooth and easy.
The lodge is beautifully designed and very comfortable, with great attention to even the smallest details - nothing was missing. The bed was very comfortable, and even our dog, who slept in the living room, felt completely at home.
The location is perfect for exploring the area, with everything conveniently close by. Rob also recommended a lovely pub within walking distance, where we ended up spending every evening - a great tip.
All in all, a fantastic experience. We would definitely come back.
- Tarpin (9/5): -
- Vanya (10/5): Exceptional lodge in a beautiful nature spot - Gorgeous location, quiet and private. The kitchen was really well equipped and we had plenty of living space and outdoor space, which was amazing on the sunny weekend we stayed. The shower had great water pressure and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The whole place smelled amazing and you could just tell that someone had thought of the little details like having reed diffusers. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. Honestly loved everything.
- Zara (10/5): - Clean and has everything you need, owners are very helpful. Short walk to the centre of Callander and walks nearby. Very dog friendly Nothing
- Emma (10/5): Beautiful lodge in a beautiful location - The place was amazing and the facilities were amazing. We booked this place as we got married in Callander and it was a beautiful place to stay for the wedding. We loved everything.
- kirsty (10/5): We had a relaxing stay and would definitely book again š - The house was clean and cosy š Close to the town centre and nice walks do the dog There was nothing we didnāt like
- CC4x (10/5): - Everything!
- Amanda (10/5): Super stay. - Super 3 nights at Westmains Lodge. Immaculately clean, warm and an extremely comfortable February stay
. Great location for exploring the area. Lovely and quiet but only 5 min walk into the village. Thank you to our hosts Angela and Tom
- Kathleen (10/5): Loved it - Absolutely wonderful cottage with everything that you need.
Warm and cosy, excellent facilities. V comfy bed.
Walking distance to bars and restaurants.
Loved it.
Would definitely come back. Nothing. Just perfect.
- Norma (10/5): A brilliant stay in the beautiful wee house. We had a great time away with a short walk into town. - The location of the house was just fantastic with marvellous views. The bonus was the surroundings with squirrels in the trees and ponies in the field to keep us entertained š. Our stay did us the world of good. Our hosts were marvellous and very friendly. They made sure we had everything we need and then left us in peace and quiet to enjoy our stay. The house was immaculate and very well supplied for our needs. Absolutely nothing that our hosts could do anything about ie the rainy weather during our stay but you need the rain to get the beautiful views. We loved it all; wet or dry.
- Chris (10/5): Home from home plus. - Not applicable as self catering however, you had every utensil to make your own. The deer only visited the garden twice during our visit.
- Ali (9/5): -
- Hughes (10/5): Great place to stay. We'd love to go back. - Great location. Easy to find. Within 5 minutes walking of town centre. Spacious, clean, comfortable, well furnished. Great views up and down the vale. Great dog walking meadow across the lane. On site parking. Smart tv. Good WiFi. Decking and access to adjacent green space. Nothing.
- Gardner (10/5): A lovely short break in the land of my mother. - The property was spotless and well equipped. The location was quiet and pleasant and perfect for a short stroll into Callander.
It was also just opposite the river which was a perfect dog walking spot.
For me, it was also ideally located for all my favourite visits: Dumbarton; the waterfall in the forest by Go Ape, Aberfoyle; Crieff; Aberfeldy, Killin Couldnāt find a poo bin! So used the public one just down the road.
- Blair (10/5): - Lovely location and spacious living area of the apartment. The couch could maybe do with an upgrade. Other than that everything was great š
- Anne (10/5): - Very clean, extremely roomy and comfortable accommodation in lovely surroundings on outskirts of Callander. We didn't meet the owners but they communicated well by text. The weather when we were there was atrocious so we were unable to do planned autumn walks but as there was a Music Festival on we enjoyed some great live music and food in the very nice Callander pubs. We hope to return for the walks and would have no hesitation booking West Mains again. Nothing
- nicola (10/5): -
- Clive (10/5): Delightful! - Great open plan kitchen/lounge/diner with covered terrace for enjoying the rain! Large SmartTV. Short walk to town (with very friendly shopkeepers) and waterfall walk. Short drive to Loch Katrine steamship and scenic walks. Lovely grounds/view.
Owners were very hospitable, thanks!
- HEIDI (10/5): So enjoyable hosts lovely, so near to local shops and cafes. - It was fabulous, stunning location and scenery. So modern comfortable and just so lovely. Nothing negative
- Dianne (10/5): SUPER 2nd STAY !!!!! - This was our 2nd visit to Westmains lodge and won't be our last. Lodge is spotlessly clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Set in a beautiful location in lovely surroundings, it has a peaceful countryside feel even though it's only a five minute walk into town. Met our host Tom who was very friendly, chatty and accommodating. Don't delay.... book today, you won't regret it. Nothing to dislike.
- Manon (10/5): Fantastisch - Geweldige ruime lodge van alle gemakken voorzien. Met heerlijk overdekt terras. Super schoon. Prachtige ligging met uitzicht op de bergen. Zeer hondvriendelijk. Niets
- Lorraine (10/5): Fabulous accommodation - Great location.
Excellent quality fixtures, fittings and furnishings.
Nice added extras - tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper as well as washing up items.
Well kept garden.
Lovely and friendly, helpful hosts. Nothing not to like, this to me is the perfect accommodation.
- Malcolm (10/5): - Could not be better. Perfect location within 5 min walk into town, yet feeling of being in the country.
Lovely spot and beautifully presented.
- Carol (10/5): - The apartment was amazing, the host is a lovely person, very kind and super friendly and the location is just stunning. Will come back for sure!
Volveremos.
- Jos (9/5): Mooi appartement, midden in de natuur. - Mooie ruime woonkamer, met terras met prima uitzicht. Alles in Callander op loopafstand. Prachtige natuur met veel wandel en fietsmogelijkheden.
- Gritt (10/5): - Sehr gut ausgestattetes, sauberes, komfortables Ferienhaus in sehr schƶner Lage mit sehr herzlichen und ƤuĆerst hilfsbereiten Gastgebern.
- Karine (10/5): A truly peaceful stay surrounded by the sheer beauty of nature - Great location set out of the town centre but within a 5mn walk. Lovely covered decking area affording stunning views over the surrounding fields, meadows and town. This was our second visit to West Mains lodge and hopefully not the last. This is a very spacious and comfortable accommodation perfect for any length of stay. Spotlessly clean and with a very comfy bed and powerful shower We canāt think of anything we didnāt like. Perhaps a minor suggestion, but with the weather getting hotter, maybe the addition of a fan in the bedroom to get the air moving? We slept with the windows open and were never cold, but light sleepers may find the wildlife too loud š
- Inken (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely holiday home, beautiful view and very kind and helpful hosts. We loved to stay there! At present there are no light blocking blinds on the windows in the sleeping room so it was a little bright in the morning. But our hosts hang towels in front of the windows and that improved our sleep :-).
- Louise (8/5): We had a lovely stay and the ponies were the highlight in the field beside us area full bag of carrots from us - Location was amazing and the interior was gorgeous. The couch needs gone asap. Itās like sitting on a bench ā¹ļø the bedroom is stunning but if you get woken up easily take a sleep mask itās so bright in the morning itās like a 1000 watt bulb waking you up
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Geoff (10/5): Exceptional - Immaculately clean, very nicely furnished, helpful owners, well equipped. Nothing to dislike frankly
- William (10/5): Had a great long weekend there with my wife and our dog. It was very quiet although only a 6 or 7 min walk into the vill - Location, peaceful, close to village,
- Christine (10/5): Peace perfect peace :) - Beautiful views and setting, peaceful & close to nature. Loved watching the horses in adjacent field. Property itself warm & comfortable & immaculately clean. Range of essentials such as tea/coffee provided and much appreciated. Excellent value for money and completely met my needs. Loved it! Dog loved it!! No negatives.
- Allan (10/5): No word needed āļøāļøāļøāļøāļøāļøāļøāļø - Nothing to dislike gorgeous location.lovely people the lodge is awesome and is absolutely spotless. The thing I will say is a couple of usb sockets would be good. So make sure you take a plug usb. The out side decking is just nice to chill out and which wild life. Tom thatās not unusual.šš
- Siubhan (8/5): Very good - Peaceful location
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional - The lodge was very cosy, spotless & had everything you need. The owner was very nice and checked on us to see if we needed anything.. Great location about a 10 min walk into the town where there are plenty of shops & restaurants, coffee shops . Would definitely book again Nothing
- Henry (9/5): a break in Callander - very clean and decor was to a very high standard, lovely location it was very cold on entering lodge, no one at booking.com had informed owner we were coming, so completely understand why no heating was on when we arrived, must say I was surprised when owner informed us that they did not know we were coming, guess that's all down to booking.com
- Alistair (9/5): Superb - Beautiful accommodation. Located perfectly for our short break.
- Simon (10/5): 10/10 - peace and tranquility in style - Glorious views, well decorated & furnished, a well-equipped kitchen, lovely garden, powerful shower, mattress firm but not hard⦠great location for a break in amazing surroundings. No curtains ! Luckily I always travel with an eye mask.
- Chris (10/5): Perfect. - Everything. Home from home Nothing
- Linda (10/5): Ideal spot for a couple chill out. - Very spacious , modern & clean apartment
- Alison (9/5): Superb -
- Dianne (10/5): WONDERFUL WESTMAINS LODGE - A beautiful lodge. Exceptionally clean, comfortable, cosy and spacious with a modern homely feel, set in a peaceful and relaxing setting which created a perfect stay.
Super comfy bed, lovely bathroom with great shower.
Great covered outdoor decked area overlooking horses in the field.
A short walk into town to local amenities.
Would happily return and highly recommend. We agree with a few other reviews that the sofa is not the most comfortable. There was also no baking tray provided but we just bought disposable ones.
- Mary (9/5): Comfortable Stay - Loved where the accomodation is situated beautiful views nice and quiet.
Everything you need nice and comfortable, bed comfortable slept well. Dog friendly good enclosed area for our wee West Highland Terrier.
Nice warm welcome from Tom.owner of the property and if we needed anything just to ask which was great.
We where so lucky with the weather it was great and made our stay even better enjoying the sites and scenery around the area. Wasn't anything I didn't like. We had a lovely comfortable stay.
- Terry (10/5): Exceptional lodge and great location. - Nothing. All was excellent.
- Lorraine (10/5): Exceptional accommodation - The lodge was finished to a high standard, it was in a beautiful, peaceful setting, less than 10 minutes from the amenities There was nothing to dislike
- Alexandra (10/5): Exceptional! - The Westmains Lodge is hands down one of the best places we've ever stayed!
The lodge is spotless and impeccably tidy. Tom, the host, is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and down-to-earth, he shared some great local recommendations with us.
The beds are super comfortable, and the large bathroom features a fantastic power shower. There's a lovely deck on the side of the property where you can relax with a drink while watching the horses in the nearby field (we named them Whisper and Little Sergio).
The kitchen is well-equipped with all the utensils you could possibly need during your stay. The lodge also offers a strong Wi-Fi signal, a large smart TV, and plenty of books and games to keep you entertained.
It only takes around 5 minutes to walk into Callander and makes a great base for traveling to nearby area's such as Sterling, Doune, Aberfolyle etc. Would highly recommend and look forward to staying again in the future! Everything was absolutely superb!
However .. as other reviews have mentioned, and (to be very picky) for longer stays, a washing machine would be beneficial.
- Nicola (10/5): Absolutely perfect relaxing, local to village, beautiful view - Absolutely loved it! Spacious, exceptionally clean, had everything we needed, games, sit outside under cover area, warm, fantastic shower, comfy bed! Fully equipped with everyday basics, coffee, tea, sugar, dlishcloths, washing up liquid, tea towel needed to bring nothing but ourselves!!
The owner was absolutely lovely, even played some bagpipes for us as we headed off to a wedding. Offered us a lift to it too !! was such a warming man! Kept us updated ion any information x There was NOTHING!! To dislike only we didn't stay long enough .
- Shona (10/5): Very spacious, modern, comfortable and clean accommodation in a great location. - The accommodation was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The outside decking and garden was beautiful to sit in. The location was great. It was a 5 minute walk to Callander and there were lots of lovely walks nearby. Tom was an excellent host. Nothing

- Andy (10/5): Excellent hosts, excellent location, exceptional cleanliness, plenty of walks nearby. - Location location location A washing machine would be a good addition, apart from that the property is exceptionally well serviced .
- Lisa (10/5): Lovely apartment close to town and walking trails. We really enjoyed our stay! - Spacious and close to walking trails. Very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We needed to do laundry, so a washer would have been deluxe!

Nothing we didn't like very comfortable we slept very well great for our Wee Westie Hamish. Loved our stay lovely Lodge .
- Cinke (10/5): excellent apartment and 5 minute walk to town , 3rd time here and booked again for July. - The size of the living room and kitchen space and the outdoor patio is a bonus
- Christine (10/5): We had a great time and would happily stay again - Excellent property with everything you could possibly need. Clean and fresh with great shower and comfy bed. Walking distance to town and plenty dog friendly walks. Private garden space with covered decking not fully enclosed but our dogs don't roam. Quiet and peaceful with ponies in adjacent field. Met Tom who showed us his lovely garden and bar. Other houses on the site but hardly saw anyone. Sofas could be a bit more comfortable. We went in June and heating was off (as expected) but it got a bit chilly in the evening. A cosy throw might be an added bonus. But typical scottish weather!
- Hewison (8/5): Luxurious. - Top location. Fitted the bill. Perfect size for the two of us. So much choice of local walking. Perfect
- Lynne (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning location, beautiful apartment that had everything you would need. Large living area and outdoor space including covered patio area. Very comfortable bed and large bathroom with shower. Immaculately clean. Having to leave
- Gail (10/5): Exceptional - Spotlessly clean with everything you need. Spacious living space. Comfy bed. Fabulous location with beautiful views. Hopefully will be able to visit again in the future š
- Will (10/5): Exceptional - The location is absolutely beautiful, much bigger accomodation than we were expecting. Felt like a true home away from home. Great for couples
- David (10/5): Lovely place to stay a short walk from Callander - Great location - spacious

- Anonymous (10/5): Would defo come back and stay here and Iād recommend it anyone who wants to stay in Callander. - Iāve never written a review before but I feel like I have to as it was such a nice stay and such a friendly couple to welcome me and make sure I was comfortable.
I came up for a wedding and all my friends stayed in the centre. This location was just outside the centre (5 minute walk in). Glad I stayed here as I had a great view and a place to myself. Plenty of room, comfortable bed and all the facilities I needed.
Very peaceful and healing place.
Thank you Tom and Angela. And also thanks to Tom for playing the clarinet and showing me your awesome place. Iād be searching for things to find that I didnāt like.
- Francesca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tony (10/5): Most enjoyable private peacefull stay in a well appointed modern unit rural but 2 mins to town. - Immaculately presented. Spacious, private, comfortable, deck and view to countryside and can hear the owls calling in the evening. Own parking, 2 min drive into town. Modern, new, bedroom separate to lounge so great for minimal disturbance. Tom and Angela are the most hospitable hosts. A highlight of our trip was Tom, a talented musician, playing us our national anthem and the Scottish anthem on our departure. Pure delight and brought a tear to our eyes. That we didnāt stay longer.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stuart (9/5): Superb - Great location very handy for the town centre. Very quiet on a night. We'll be coming back.
- Susan (9/5): Superb - Beautifully appointed practical apartment in a convenient location close to the town. It was spacious, warm and comfortable with a nice outdoor seating area, under cover, where we could put our bikes. It had a lovely outlook which could be enjoyed from the large swivel chair beside the picture window.
I liked that it had a separate upstairs bedroom and bathroom, less common in accommodation for 2 people. Also, the little hallway was a good place to hang outdoor clothing and footwear.
Our friendly host was just next door, incase of any problem, which there wasn't.
If you like hill walking and cycling, there is more than enough to do in this beautiful area. I'm sure we will be returning. The stools for the breakfast bar were too high for the counter top, making it an awkward place to eat meals. My preference would be for a small dining table and chairs instead of the 2nd sofa and coffee table to the side of the kitchen area.
- Mhairi (10/5): Very relaxing, treasure of a find - Location was excellent. Short walk into the Main Street absolutely nothing could have been better. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming There wasnāt one thing that we didnāt love about this property.
- Angelika (10/5): Exceptional - The host was very kind and helpful. The location is perfect especially if you have a dog. Lots of beautiful walks. Many dog friendly pubs and shops.
Loved having the garden and the terrace. We had quite bad weather but it didn't stop us from having a great time. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace that has got a roof and drinking a cup of tea and listening to the rain.
I can highly recommend it. Very quiet location. Perfect if you just want to relax . Walking distance to the pubs and shops.
Thanks a lot to Tom and Angela for having us. Can't think of anything
- William (10/5): Fantastic, recommend to all friends. -
- Denise (10/5): The accommodations - The lodge was absolutely superb, very tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. Our hosts Angela & Tom were exceptionally nice and friendly and made us feel very welcome. We will be sure to recommend the lodge to family and friends and we will definitely be back, hopefully in the near future.
- Chris (10/5): Truly perfect in every way - The lodge was spotless, everything possible was provided with all home comforts and more.
Beautiful location, easy walk to town, perfect parkingā¦ā¦..
We will be going back soon. Having to leave.
- Anonymous (10/5): Clean and simple, well equipped, great location, nice hosts and nice views. - The property seems to be a really nicely converted garage with an open plan living room kitchen downstairs and a bedroom shower room upstairs. The property is very clean, situated in great location, the hosts are really friendly, thereās nice views of the hill and itās very spacious. To be pernickety the bed was firmer than what we were used to but other than that, everything else was great.
- Francesca (9/5): Perfect place for hiking and relaxing - The house was situated just outside the town centre, at 5-10 minute walk. There was no need to drive anywhere because several walks/hikes started from where the house was. The town centre has anything you might need, as well as many pubs and restaurants if you don't fancy cooking. The house is surrounded by a beautiful field and forest. We were able to use a 20m lead for our pet from the outside veranda, so she was able to roam safely, and enjoy the outdoor.
Tom and Angela were splendid hosts, and were there for us whenever we needed something or had a question. A very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We will definitely go back.
- Cinke (10/5): Callander get away - This is 5 minute walk to the town centre but you feel like your miles away, it is so peaceful and relaxing the outdoor seating area which is undercover is an excellent space.
The lodge itself is immaculate and has all you need for a comfortable stay.
We had a great relaxing week away from all the hustle and bustle from everyday life.
Will definitely be back , this is a little gem of a place.
Iain & Helen We loved it all
- Karine (10/5): Excellent, clean accommodation surrounded by nature on the edge of a charming town - Perfect location right on the edge of town, within a 5mn walk to all amenities (great choice of pubs, cafĆ©s, eateries, independent shops etcā¦) but far enough to feel secluded. Beautiful and quiet setting overlooking the hills, fields and woodlands. We spent a lot of time sitting in the covered decking area just watching the world go by.
The accommodation has been finished up to great standards and is spotlessly clean. The main living area feels very spacious and offers plenty of seating (including a very comfortable reading chair by the large front window, overlooking town and the tree-covered hills.)
Upstairs is the bedroom with en-suite bathroom (great shower!) The room is light and bright and feels very spacious. As I am a light sleeper, I always travel with a sleeping mask and had no issue sleeping through the early morning light.
If you need anything, be it advice on places to visit or any additional items for your stay, Angela or Tom are always on hand and more than happy to oblige.
- Harriet (10/5): Perfect lodge to explore everything the local area has to offer - Location is perfect, a really good base for a range of walks and activities. It's literally a 5 minute walk into Callander town centre and 6 minute drive to Loch Venachar.
Hosts were so lovely and friendly, really made us feel super welcome and our Cavapoo loved them too!
Very peaceful area, spacious, clean, modern. Definitely exceeded our expectations!
- Kate (9/5): Very clean, comfortable and quiet - totally chilled. - This property is the perfect size for a couple or a party of 2-3 who don't mind sharing the upstairs bathroom and one person sleeps on the sofa bed (which I did and was fine with!). The property is immaculately clean and very comfortable, with all the desired facilities available. We particularly liked the little outdoor area to the side where we could have a drink in the evening and watch the horses in the next door field. The location is a stone's throw away from the centre of Callander so very easy to walk in but is a lot quieter than staying in central Callander. We would stay again, it was lovely, as we're the hosts who were very friendly and helpful. At present there are only light coloured blinds on the windows so it was a little bright in the light summer mornings - we have suggested that some darker coloured curtains would be a good addition (to benefit anyone who is a light sleeper and is woken up easily by the morning light!).
- Jane (10/5): Many thanks to the owners Tom and Angela for a relaxing stay. - A great find. A lovely comfortable property, immaculately clean , with a countryside view. We enjoyed sitting outside on the decking having a meal in the evening while watching the horses in the adjacent field grazing. Very relaxing. Nothing - enjoyed it all!
- Worth (9/5): loved our stay at West mains lodge and would return - We went Self catering. Lovely peaceful tranqil location, ideal for a relaxing and unwinding, great area with lots of places to visit locally. Callander is a lovely place with ,friendly people. great location for dog owners as walks direct from lodge.Hosts Tom and Angela were welcoming, helpful and assured us to let them know if we needed anything.Totally enjoyed our stay ,
(good showewr , good bed ) and would highly reccomend Westmains Lodge. Nothing to dislike
- Drewaps (10/5): Exceptional - If you're looking for the perfect base for exploring the Trossachs, this is it. The property is located in a lovely rural area on the edge of Callander. It is an easy stroll into the village and nearby walking trails. The apartment was spacious and had everything we needed. Tom and Angela were great hosts! Nothing, we were sorry to leave.
