• Koushik (9/5): Amazing home-style stay in mountains - Amazing hosts - very helpful and kind. It requires a 4X4 to travel from the Theth village centre to the property and the hosts helped with that without any extra charges. Great food at a reasonable price and in a very homely setting. The rooms are clean and beds are nice.

Ni una pega a este alojamiento. Fui con un grupo de amigas y quedamos todas encantadas. La única pega es que está un poco alejado de la población. Todo fue perfecto aunque está un poco alejado del pueblo.

• Florian (10/5): Wonderful hosts, delicious food and a beautiful traditional home stay in the mountains - Is located already higher up on the hillside, be aware that the place is NOT accessible with a standard car, so you‘ll be picked up by the owner from the town center. It has a beautiful garden with amazing view! The hosts are wonderful and the food and drinks were delicious! Everything perfect, only downside is that clothes can get a bit smoky due to a open fire place in the house.

Not only the family in charge is lovely and very helpful, but the food was also amazing and different from all the other meals we had in the mountains. The place is also very beautiful and cosy. • Luca (10/5): Best guesthouse in Theth - We had an amazing stay at Bujtina Shkambi. The family running the guesthouse is extremely kind and does everything to ensure you have the best experience. Dinner next to the fire pit and breakfast were delicious and copious. A special mention to Alesio, whose driving skills will be very helpful on the 2km off road that brings you to the guesthouse from Theth center. Everything was great, I don’t know how it could have been better!

Man kann ihn aber nicht mit seinem eigenen Auto erreichen. Man muss sich in Teth-Center abholen lassen. Dieser Service ist kostenlos. Es gibt keine Beanstandungen.

Alessio und seine Familie sind überaus gastfreundlich und empfangen ihre Gäste mit liebevollen Details. Angefangen bei der Abholung im Tal, über das unfassbar leckere und lokale Essen, die netten Gespräche bis hin zu Tipps zur Umgebung, es war rundum traumhaft! Unsere Hütte im Garten war toll und wir wachten mit direktem Blick auf die Berge und das schöne Grundstück auf. Vielen herzlichen Dank für die Offenheit und Liebe, mit der ihr eure Gäste empfangt. Wir hatten eine überaus erholsame Zeit und sind sehr wehmütig aus Theth weggefahren, dafür mit wertvollen Erinnerungen an diesen besonderen Ort abseits des Tourismus im Tal.

Away from the village, nestled in beautiful surroundings, this is a perfect place. The hosts are really welcoming, the rooms are spacious and cosy, the food is amazing. It really is a special place to put on one’s itinerary!

Entorno excepcional en medio de los Alpes albaneses, vistas increíbles, personal increíblemente amables y simpáticos, son fsmilia (abuelos, padres e hijos) Èl desayuno exquisito. Cenamos allí, una cena riquísima, la preparan con lo que recolectan de su huerto, hacen el vino, los licores, mermeladas. Imposible que haya algo que no te guste.

The evening meal on the lawn was outstanding, we ate here every night and it was such a great way to end a day of hiking. I highly recommend this special place, we didn't want to leave.

A true favourite - If we could rate our hosts’ kindness and the warmth of their welcome out of 20, we would have given them 25/20. This guesthouse is run by the most delightful family we have ever met, on any of our travels. They are adorable, attentive, helpful, genuinely interesting, and their children played with our daughter. The place itself is fantastic, right in the mountains, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The old stone house, the large garden to relax and enjoy meals, the vegetable patch, the animals… everything is just perfect. The meals are exceptional – the best we’ve had in Albania, whether breakfast or dinner. Absolutely everything comes from their farm: fruit and vegetables, meat, and even the wine! The portions are huge, for a price that’s far too reasonable. This was our favourite spot in Albania, and in fact our favourite discovery in a long time of travelling. Thank you so much :) /

• saaabrinal (9/5): Toller Start- und Endpunkt für die Peaks of Balkan - Sehr nette und freundliche Gastgeber. Hervorragendes Essen und ein tolles Ambiente. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Zimmer in den Obergeschossen waren einfach, aber uns hat es an nichts gefehlt. Das Zimmer im Erdgeschoss war ein bisschen eng fur 4 Personen.
• Lara (10/5): Beautiful farm stay in the mountains - This farm stay is run by the sweetest family, who are so attentive and helpful. Set up in the mountains a little out of the town of Theth, the grounds are absolutely divine — there’s fresh vegetables and fruit growing everywhere, and cows wandering around. Idyllic! It’s just off the valbona to theth trail, so if you’re doing the hike make sure you put the address into maps before you get to the theth side (it comes up quickly — and we accidentally walked all the way into town and then slugged it back up the hill, don’t recommend doing that haha). Or alternatively, if you’re arriving in theth town - don’t fret as the lovely family also give lifts in and out of town as needed (otherwise it’s a 40 minute walk) And the food is GLORIOUS! A beautiful breakfast is included in the price, while a glorious 4 course dinner is extra (15 euro vegetarian/ 19 euro with meat I believe) it’s out of this world and worth every cent! All food is made with ingredients from the farm, including the carafe of wine, which the grandpa makes himself (it’s delicious!). We ate there both nights and had two of the best meals we’ve had on our whole trip. This is a must stay!
• Dale (9/5): Quiet location for great hiking - The location was perfect if you wanted to get out of the town and do some great hikes so it was ideal for us. If you want to be in the middle of things probably stay closer to the town. The food was outstanding. There was plenty and tastes delicious. The family were very accommodating, helpful and friendly. We loved it here. There was nothing we didn’t like about it at all.
• Filip (10/5): Heerlijk verblijf bij de meest gastvrije familie van Albanië - Niets is teveel voor deze gastvriendelijke familie. Ze hebben ons echt in de watten gelegd: Alessio is ons 2 maal komen halen met de jeep uit het dorp. Ze waren zo vriendelijk om mijn t shirt uit te wassen nadat ik zelf vergeten was er meer mee te nemen. Ze maken heerlijke Italiaans geïnspireerde diners voor hun gasten, een echte meerwaarde Bij een late aankomst op de 2e dag kregen we nog een dessert aangeboden. Dit alles doet ons besluiten dat het een wonderlijk verblijf was met prachtige gastvrije mensen die echt wel de extra mile lopen om iedereen zich op zijn gemak te laten voelen. We voelden ons echt in een top vakantiemodus!!! Bij twijfel, niet doen en gewoon boeken!!!! Airco zou nog een meerwaarde zijn. Misschien voor de toekomst?

Maar deze lieve familie is zeer gastvrij om je beneden op te halen als je auto het niet redt. Met een 4x4 is het prima te doen. Heerlijk ontbijt en heerlijk diner. En ook de wijn en de raki niet te vergeten. Ik wil eigenlijk nu alweer terug. Echt geen enkel minpunt gevonden

• Liina (10/5): Gem in Albanian Alps, totally recommend! - This is such a gem and will be a highlight of our Albanian trip. Family that runs the place goes above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. They are so helpful and welcoming. Breakfast is abundant and fresh and they use their own grown produces. Definitely get dinner there too, it's an extra, but totally worth it! We were still longing for the food served there while we were in other regions of Albania. :) Since the accomodation is up the hill, you get very nice views of the mountains in such a peaceful setting. You can just sit back and relax in the garden, with cows mooing in the distance (or sometimes very nearby) and take in all the nature. You will need 4x4 to get up to the bujtina, otherwise its a 30-40min walk up the steep rocky hill, however the family will provide the transport to and from the Theth village with no problem, if you just let them know.

• Joe (10/5): Beautiful guest house, wonderful family, delicious meals. 10/10 recommend! - Beautiful guest house, wonderful hospitality, delicious breakfast and dinner (four courses!) in the courtyard. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Nothing! The guest house is situated a bit outside of Theth (30-40 minutes walking), but the family will drive you to or from Theth in their 4x4, and the location is actually perfect if hiking from or to Valbone—just off the trail.

• Mareike (10/5): Traumhaft schön mit paradiesischem Essen - Es könnte nicht schöner sein: Eine wunderbare Familie, die teilweise seit Jahren in Florenz lebt, dort in einem Restaurant arbeitet und den Sommer in diesem wunderbaren Landhaus verbringt. Das Essen ist fantastisch, der Service freundlich, familiär und unaufdringlich. Die Zutaten für das üppige Frühstück sowie die Menüs für den Abend (sehr sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis) kommen überwiegend direkt aus eigenem Anbau. Es gibt Kühe, ein Volleyballfeld und eine Schaukel. Die Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und schön. Der Familienvater holt einen unten im Dorf ab und bringt einen hoch. Die Anfahrt mit denn eigenen Auto ist absolut nicht zu empfehlen. Er spricht italienisch und albanisch und ist sehr sympathisch. Die Kinder und seine Frau sprechen auch Englisch. Insgesamt eine tolle Familie! Super kinderlieb und die Extras für die Kinder wurden uns nicht in Rechnung gestellt. Wir haben uns wie im Paradies gefühlt. Tausend Dank! Einen schöneren Aufenthaltsort hätten wir nicht finden können. Die Kinder wollten gleich die restlichen Ferien bleiben.

Jedzenie wspaniałe - jedne z najlepszych w całej Albanii. Obok domu rosną piękne drzewa i znajduje się warzywniak, z którego były przyrządzane potrawy. Nic.
• Lauren (10/5): Such a special and unique place! Do not hesitate to book. - Wow.. What an experience. This absolutely gorgeous and super special guesthouse was about 10 min above Theth village. It required 4x4 transport back and forth which added to the uniqueness and charm. The family that runs the guesthouse are all absolutely AMAZING. Some of the kindest people I've met in all of my travels. The food, made by the mother of the family was so insanely good and she was so lovely to cater to my gluten free diet. They even threw me a birthday party while we were there! Can't say enough great things... I feel bad even commenting on this because it did not take away from the experience, but since the guesthouse does not have AC, it was a bit hot, being the middle of summer and in a heat wave. If they were to purchase a few more fans, that should do the trick. Also we didn't have hot showers most of the time. Also not a huge issue for us, but just a bit unexpected.
• René (10/5): - A little peace of heaven. Thise place is a MUST STAY when in Theth!!! Unfortunately we only stayed one night but loved EVERY second of staying in this place and with this truly amazing warm friendly and hospitable Albanian-Italian Shkambi-family. It’s actually difficult to describe in words how amazing this place is and how great it makes you feel. The family welcomes you with a kindness and hospitality that we have seldom experienced. The relaxed and easygoing atmosphere and vibe is simply wonderful. The food served is beyond every thing else we’ve tried in Albania and at at price that’s extremely reasonable. On top of all this is the fantastic location with amazing views of the mountains and the Theth valley. Situated up the hills from Theth it’s perfectly relaxed and nice. When we needed to leave Theth from the town center the father of the family drove us to the bus in the jeep which is needed to go all the to and from the location. Coming from the Valbona-Theth trek it’s VERY easy to turn off the path near the end of the path and walk just 400 meters directly to the house on the hills. There’s a sign showing left to ‘Bujtina Shkambi’. Perfectly located when coming on foot from Valbona. THANK YOU Skhambi-family for one of the best stays of our lives - We will for sure come back! Love to you! Our very best recommendations.

Elképesztő minőségű, és megehetetlen mennyiségű profi, mégis igazán házias vacsora, illetve reggeli, előbbi hihetetlenül jó ár-érték arányban, utóbbi pedig az egyébként is nagyon kedvező szállásdíj részeként!

• Eva (10/5): Beste guesthouse van Albanië - Absolute aanrader! Wat een ongelofelijk mooie plek is dit! Het huis en de prachtige tuin (inclusief grote moestuin) wordt met zoveel liefde verzorgd. Verder werden we ontvangen door een hele lieve familie, zo warm en gastvrij! We sliepen in het houten huisje, met prachtig uitzicht op de bergen, en een heerlijk bed. En het eten is ook voortreffelijk, het beste van heel Albanië! Met zoveel liefde bereid en alleen maar verse producten van het land. Kortom: twijfel niet, boek!
• Sebastian (10/5): - Śniadanie było po prostu zapadające w pamięci. ciepłe mleko prosto od krowy, masło własnej roboty, warzywa z ogródka który jest za płotem na zboczu góry. Po prostu coś niesamowitego. Warto wrócić chociażby dlatego aby kolejny raz doświadczyć śniadania w takiej scenerii i takiej jakości. Warto uważać na dojazd - jest wymagający. Kwatera znajduje się około 300m nad Theth. Droga dojazdowa jest w mojej opinii bardzo wymagająca - stroma, kamienista i z kilkoma stromymi serpentynami. Wjeżdżałem motocyklem szosowym i mi się akurat udało dojechać ale koledzy na motocyklach adv się poddali. Do kwatery można spokojnie dostać się pieszo, jednak spacer pod górę może potrwać 1-1,5h) warto też skontaktować się z właścicielami przed wyruszeniem pod górę, nam chętnie pomogli zjeżdżając po kolegów którzy zostali na dole autem terenowym, przewieźli bagaże, a po pobycie odwieźli na dół, za co jeszcze raz dziękujemy :)

• lyanne (10/5): Lieve familie, heerlijk eten en top locatie - Super locatie als je de Theth-Valbonë hike doet. Ze brengen je voor niets naar het centrum als je er heen wilt. Of regelen vervoer voor je naar de Blue Eye. Het eten is echt geweldig! Meer dan genoeg, vers uit eigen tuin, goede prijs en erg lekker net als de wijn. Super romantisch ook met de bergen als uitzicht tijdens het eten. De kamers voldoen ook aan alles. Het beste is de familie zelf! Super behulpzaam en flexibel. -

• Nadine (10/5): - Wow, wow, wow, incredible! This place is like heaven on Earth. We almost do not have any words about the friendliness and hospitality of this family. Their house is perfectly located to start or end (in our case) the Valbona-Theth hike. It's up on the hill hidden between trees and bushes so lots of quietness and relaxation is guaranteed. To go to Theth the family is happy to give you a lift otherwise it is a 30 minutes walk. My partner is vegan and Violeta was able to cook the best and freshest food in all its variety and there is more than plenty of it being it for breakfast or dinner. As a non beer drinker I especially loved the red wine that was served for dinner. It felt like the nicest treat. Besides, we were happy that the family is Italian speaking as this gave us the opportunity to have good conversations with them and learn about their lives and history of the area. We were sad when we had to leave as they made as feel like part of their family. If you like Raki have a glas with the nonno as he seems to enjoy some company too, heartwarming. We'll hope to come back some day but than stay longer to enjoy this beauty and kindness to the fullest. Grazie mille per tutto! PS: maybe put some hamacs in the garden and paradise would be complete...

But the dinner was something else, five or six courses with all the vegetables and herbs fresh from their own garden, everything was so delicious and so tasty, I've eaten at michelen starred restaurants that weren't this good. We only stayed one night, wish it had been longer :'(

• Guest (10/5): - If you're looking for tranquil accommodation in an idyllic setting above Theth – look no further! Sometimes it’s hard to believe all the glowing reviews, but this place is an absolute gem. The family who runs it are the kindest people – they took amazing care of us (we had the best food in all of Albania, enjoyed warm and friendly conversations, and they were incredibly sweet to our kids). The house, the garden, and the entire setting couldn’t be more beautiful. We were initially a bit worried about the location – it’s up the hill above Theth – but it turned out to be actually better than staying in the village! The family’s son, Alessio, happily gave us rides up and down the hill whenever needed. In the end, we were so glad we didn’t stay in the busier, more touristy part of the village below. I truly can’t recommend this place enough! After three nights, we were so happy that we were able to extend our stay for another night. If we didn’t have to catch our flight home, we would probably still be there (and about 10 kg heavier thanks to the incredible cooking skills of the women there!). THANK YOU!!!

• BB Bunny (10/5): Great choice - It is rare to stay somewhere that exceeds our expectations but our four night stay at Bujtina Shkambi was better than we had imagined. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. The family who operates this establishment went out of their way to make us feel at home. Located about a 20 minute walk from the town of Theth you immediately feel at peace from all the tourists when you arrive. The property is absolutely lovely and is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Theth NP. Our cabin was comfortable, clean and spacious. The food was delicious and plentiful with our hosts happy to cater to our dietary needs (lots of veggie options). Everything served was grown in their garden or produced by their cows. Lots of hikes available from the property. Strong wifi connection. The guesthouse is located in a small village just off of the Theth to Valbonë trail so it's a perfect location for hikers. We wished we had stayed longer!!!!

Excellent family and exceptional food - The family, (Gjyshi, Gëzim, Vera, Griselda, Arben) welcome you in their century old stone home and make you feel like family. I’m Albanian and the food was outstanding! My husband and I had such an amazing time and left Bujtina Shkambi with the best memories and can’t wait to return. The Bujtina is also close to the trail to Valbona which is a plus as it saves you from hiking up from the bottom of the village. I’ll add that most of the food you’ll eat is grown in their garden and picked fresh every day. Their livestock provide the milk and protein you’ll consume too. Griselda is an excellent cook and in true Albanian hospitality you’ll be served with so much food and so many options all made from scratch. 10/10 recommend!

Las cenas están buenísimas (sin carne 15€/per incluido vino de la casa fantástico). Si necesitas te bajan a buscar al pueblo ya que está en una zona un poco elevada ,que por otro lado le da su encanto. Los coches que no son 4x4 no pueden subir. Las almohadas las mejores del viaje. En resumen, la familia hizo que nos sintiéramos como en casa y nos reímos muchísimo. Son muy animados. Creo que es uno de los mejores recuerdos que tendremos del país. Por decir algo, el baño como todos en Albania no tiene cortina.

The room was very spacious and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. We were also offered an amazing diner for a very reasonable price. The owners had excellent homemade wine and raki. And last but not least, the surroundings are very green and quiet. If we could give a 12 out of 10 we definitely would, as this was our best stay in Albania.

• Erik (10/5): Amazing family and great food! - The family of this place is just amazing! Very kind, very willing to help and their meals are seriously the best I ever had in a guesthouse! When arriving in Theth, be aware that you can reach the place only on foot or by car if you have a 4x4. There is free parking down the mountain and the family is very willing to pick you up with their 4x4. It is doable to walk, but it will be 30 minutes of climbing. The food is really fantastic and the portions are big. Calories you need for a long hike! As a vegetarian, it can be quite challenging to have a proper meal in Albania. Everything that Shkambi serves is home made (even their raki), very tasteful and prepared with great care! Breakfast is included, but you should definitely have dinner there too (it's an additional 15 euro's, but worth every cent). You can pay an additional 5 euro if you want some meat with it. I was here in September and the weather conditions were relatively rainy and cold. During the evenings we were welcome in their living room, where there is a cozy fireplace that kept us warm. And don't forget to ask if they can teach you some traditional Albanian dancing :-) There is no WiFi signal in the outside, wooden cabin. However, the mobile connection (4G/LTE) is quite good in this part of the mountains. So no WiFi is not really an issue if you have a local SIM.

The location of the property is great for the view, but it is quite a distance up from Theth, a 30min hike. Also the directions given on google maps is wrong, and you should follow the trail to Valbona and then cut across to the accommodation.

Die Familie ist unglaublich aufmerksam und hat versucht, uns jeden Wunsch von den Augen abzulesen. Außerdem wurden wir an einem Abend mit einem Menü bekocht, wie wir es noch nie erlebt habe. Wir können einen Aufenthalt nur empfehlen und würden hier jederzeit wieder buchen.

Heerlijk gegeten van de zelf bereide ontbijtjes en gerechten! Moeilijk bereikbaar met een lage auto maar de familie haalt en brengt je met plezier van en naar het centrum van Theth.
• Laura (10/5): - Fantastische guesthouse van een superlieve en warme familie. Wij verbleven in de aparte cabin die heel proper, comfortabel en pittoresk was. Het domein is erg mooi en super rustig gelegen. Met een gewone auto geraak je er niet, maar je wordt zonder probleem van en naar het centrum van Theth gebracht met hun 4x4, wanneer je maar wil. Het eten was fantastisch (!!) en in overvloed. Alles vers en huisgemaakt. We konden er onze bagage achterlaten tijdens onze hike van Theth naar Valbona, en weer terug van Valbona naar Theth. Op die terugweg, op enkele kilometers van Theth, viel een andere hiker en brak haar kuitbeen. Bij gebrek aan respons van het noodnummer contacteerde ik Bujtina Shkambi, die zonder aarzelen met een paard de berg kwamen opgesneld om haar naar beneden te halen en naar het ziekenhuis te brengen. Ongelofelijk!
• Nobue (10/5): 現実とは思えない素晴らしい滞在 - 夢のような３日間でした。 家族のメンバー皆で協力して施設を運営しているのが印象的でした。そこにいたゲストも含め、すべての人が親切でした。 食べ物は自家製。野菜や果物はもちろん、牛乳も搾りたてです。 少し標高の高い場所にありますが、申し出ると下の村との間を車で送迎してもらえました。 ８月のアルバニアの主要な観光地は、どこも旅行者とゴミで溢れウンザリしましたが、ここにはまた戻ってきたいです。 帰りのシュコダルまでのミニバスは、偶然オーナーの弟さんの運転する快適な車でした。体調を崩した夫のために、次の宿泊施設まで送り届けてくださり、炎天下の町を歩かずに済みました。大変感謝しています。

Przepyszne, bogate śniadanie przygotowane z użyciem warzyw z przydomowego ogrodu oraz miodu z własnej pasieki. Na terenie ogrodu boisko do gry w siatkówkę. Wieczorem bardzo nastrojowe oświetlenie i muzyka, była też możliwość zamówienia kolacji. Dojazd raczej pojazdem terenowym.

• James (10/5): - We had such a lovely stay here. The family were so wonderful and welcoming, it felt like we were visiting family. The place itself is gorgeous with a great view over the valley all from the comfort of a stunning garden. We ate dinner there on the second night and it was stunning, would highly recommend. It's about 20-30min up the hill from the "town", but the vibe and food is way better at the accommodation so no need to go in unless already there.

• Mia (10/5): Incredible guesthouse, a highlight of our stay in Albania ✨ - The guesthouse was beautifully set in the mountains, right on the start of the Theth to Valbona trail. The hosts were lovely and made us feel very welcome, and cooked amazing breakfasts and dinners (very healthy portion sizes!) each day with fresh food from their garden which is perfect after days of hiking. The views are beautiful, the room was comfortable and clean and there is lots of hiking nearby. Highly recommend for several days in Theth. Tip: Call the guesthouse on WhatsApp when arriving into the centre of Theth to be picked up in their 4x4 and driven up to the property.

Está algo separada del pueblo pero ellos siempre se ofrecen a llevarte y a recogerte. Cenamos los dos días allí. La comida es fantástica y abundante. El.ambiente que se crea en la terraza con el resto de huéspedes es fantástico. Muy recomendable en todos los sentidos.Me llevo un gran recuerdo de esta estancia. Nada. Todo es genial.
