Guest Reviews
- Fernando (9/5): Confortable place to stay - This is a lovely hotel with lots of historical details. The bedroom was nice and confortable to sleep in. The owner was super sweet and helpful. We had an issue with our car and he helped us with it, and even let us use the bathroom to clean up later because we had to change our tires.
- Dini (9/5): Fun - Atmosphere. Very unique experience
- K (9/5): -
- Travis (6/5): An experience - Old rustic property Squeaky hard bed
- Peter (2/5): -
- H. Bolz (5/5): - Extrem laut durch die Straße. Zimmer war sehr hellhörig
- JoAnne (8/5): - The historical ambiance of the hotel We were close to the intersection with lights, so we heard the traffic stopping and starting.
- Carey (8/5): - Fantastic staff and historic building full of character. Not a lot.
- peter (9/5): Cool old hotel - Right downtown The bathroom was quite dirty.
- Josenio (1/5): - Nothing to like, Scary, you are by yourself in the whole building, no elevator, unsafe inside and out of the hotel. Drug users and dealers in the area.
- Harries (10/5): -
- Henry (8/5): I enjoyed it. Would stay there again. - Great historic location - more interesting than the usual plastic motels. Didn't eat breakfast there. Room had good natural light. Heating system was rudimentary, soap & shampoo provided pretty low quality.
- Maria (5/5): -
- Dave (5/5): Will seek other accomodations elsewhere next time - It was in the right geographic area. Lot of money for a marginal facility, I suspect they do well to get a guy off the internet and mostly they have local long term A LOT CHEAPER than I paid, I paid what I paid in order to avoid such a stay so dissapointed in that regard, the hot water in the shower took forever and was reversed so difficult to get right, the shower head was like needle pricks and not really controllable. Shower experience, poor. Shampoo, cheap single foil packages needing a knife to open and no knife or scissors available. Noisy. Marginal.
- Gareth (7/5): Historic hotel - We enjoyed the quirkiness and character of the building. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Your room choice will affect your review!
The first room we were given was dark and gloomy, without any proper daylight. Thankfully another room was available which was so much nicer. Toiletries are basic.
- Evangeline (10/5): - Very clean
- Kennedy (4/5): Don't stay with kids or if you want to get up early. - It was clean staff friendly. The Pub stays open until 2am. The entire building shakes from the music. The hot water takes an hour to get to your room.
- Trista (10/5): -
- Tammy (3/5): -
- Amber (9/5): - Perfect location
Clean
Helpful staff
- Nathan (10/5): Comfortable and friendly - What an amazing place to stay. Even though i only stayed one night, i felt part of this wonderful town and was made to feel very welcome and homely. Lovley staff and charming hotel.
- alexander (6/5): -
- robertson (8/5): - It is 120 years old. That being said the rooms have been remodeled and everything was clean. Would stay again 3 flights of stairs and the hot water takes a bit to reach the room
- Mary (9/5): We will be back - We loved the atmosphere and the history of the place. The menu on the website was extensive and beyond reasonable, we were very excited. The real up to date version dinner menu was not as impressive but our meal was good. The breakfast was a treat with a very unexpected twist of a robot serving our meal.
- Debra (8/5): Looking for something good - Our server at the pub in the evening was ready to serve breakfast for us at 8am. ALEXIS made our stay for sure. Full of history and stories. The hotel itself was full of nostalgia. The beverages, the wings and waffle fries were amazing...we loved the poached egg breakfast. The voucher they gave us covered everything but $2. What a surprise. Be prepared to haul your luggage to the 3rd floor. We were able but not everyone would.
- Laurie (8/5): -
- Rona (7/5): Nice, clean, but a lot of stairs! - The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable with no mattress sag. The floors were laminate, not carpet (much more sanitary). Lady at the desk was friendly and helpful. AC is quiet and works well. No elevators. Steep stairs. I was on the third floor, so it was a lot to get my luggage up.
- Shelley (8/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful We were planning to have dinner at the resturant but it closed and hour before the posted time on the door. Had to go to the bar and have dinner. There was a very rowdy bunch of people playing pool and it was not the best place to have a nice dinner.
- Cole (10/5): -
- Tamara (8/5): -
- HAYLEY (6/5): -
- Guanqiao Wang (10/5): Clean room, great bar, and loved the free hot breakfast. - The breakfast is hot breakfast and free! It's 18 dollar voucher for the restaurant. The food portion was huge and tasted great!
- Ni (10/5): It is a great place to stay overnight during your road trip - The location is very good. The amount of their breakfast is over my expectations. The owner is very friendly and helpful. They had some good suggestions.
- Brianna (10/5): -
- edwards (10/5): - Kind and friendly hosts, Lucky the dog gorgeous. Gracious old school hotel, great shower, excellent breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed our Merritt experience. Steve and Elsa, New Zealand Nothing
- Sam (7/5): A decent stay. Good breakfast - Good location and good breakfast Quite basic
- Judy (10/5): Good loved the pub , Ali was amazing, felt like I knew her all my life , she’s a keeper - Everything , the history , the uniqueness, the vibe Well too old for stairs but beautiful just the same
- Sharon (10/5): - A historic building
- Ashley (7/5): - Excellent breakfast. Great location.
- Diana (6/5): Ok for 1 night - Staff helpful
Clean Old and smelled of smoke
Breakfast options limited
- susanhuffman (10/5): -
- shawn (8/5): - It was like being transported back in time to a cowboy hotel. The place is old with oddly sloping floors. It is replete with large oak trimmed bar and Chinese restaurant. The breakfast was the best we've had in North America. Beds were a bit too firm for our taste.
- Karen (7/5): -
- Karen (6/5): - breakfast was excellent. Rooms still under renovation.
- Susan (8/5): - Superb breakfast included Early closing for dinner
- Sascha (7/5): -
- Mark (8/5): Excellent value for money -
- Beata (5/5): I would avoid Merritt - Comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Free parking available Wifi didn’t work. The hotl is very worn out with nasty smell.
- russell (6/5): - Lovely building and very old. We were delayed at breakfast due to staff not putting order in. We asked after 50 minutes and the lady had forgotten to input it. We had gone to breakfast before showering as the water was freezing. Water eventually warmed up. The whole experience delayed our checkout by 1 hour.
- McAllister (8/5): A nice hotel to stay at. - We were offered an upgrade on our room on arrival which was a much more spacious room. We had to pay about $10 extra for breakfast despite the offer that cooked breakfast was included in the price we paid.
- Joanne (8/5): Excellent stay….will be back! - Had a few drinks and lunch at the Coldwater pub…food was really good and the menu had a lot to choose from. The service in the pub (Brian) the bartender was exceptional. Great breakfast at the restaurant…really awesome ladies serving Sunday morning. Thank you.
- Hristov Veselin (9/5): -
- Chaudhari (10/5): - Cleanliness and quick response
- Tobia (7/5): - Ibterni da istrutturare. Proprietaria accomodante e disponibile. Occhio alla colazione solo... parzialmente...inclusa!
- Heinz (6/5): -
- G (5/5): Barely adequate for overnight stay. At the best: it was clean & safe, - Location, ac alternative provided w/out asking, alternative access to locked hotel main entrance provided in most helpful & congenial manner, free parking immediately beside main front & rear of building. Nostalgic appearance maintained ( no lift/elevator - prepare to walk up&down to 2-4th floor rooms.
Interior halls have musky odour, near claustrophobic sensations despite 2m wide halls ( could alleviate stillness of air with ceiling & floor fans). Bathroom & shower stall appeared to be finished by non-skilled worker as transition btwn walls & tile appeared hastily sealed (jagged & uneven application of sealant), shower curtain overlap on stall floor may lead to tripping hazard on entry/exit.
Restaurant in hotel , large sized portions, robot food delivery that still required verbal request of lone wait staff for condiment… novel delivery w/obvious limitations. See above; quirky appearance of full sized fridge in cramped kitchenette, portable clothes hanger in bathroom next to shower stall, missing bedside table & lamp on wall side of bed. Infrequent appearance of hotel reception… note to call this number if needed help.
- Amy (10/5): - Staff were lovely and extremely helpful after we had some delays due to road closures. Room was big and comfortable. Breakfast voucher included, with lots of options. Excellent value for money.
- Pat (10/5): We had a wonderful time. Had dinner at the same location! - Best breakfast ever Our stay was amazing!!!!
Leckeres
Frühstück mit faszinierendem Serviceroboter :)
- Christina (8/5): Enjoyable and the breakfast was really good! - Interesting and historical No elevator and we were on the third floor. Not a problem for us but could be for some.
- Allister (10/5): Exceptional - The beds were had very hard mattress
- Denise (7/5): Good -
- Nguyen (8/5): Very good -
- Doug (8/5): We enjoyed the country music history downtown and the character of the pub a few blocks from the hotel. - Historic building downtown. Lots of character. Very unique room in the turret.
- Joe (5/5): Passable -
- Margot (8/5): Coldwater Hotel is the Place to Be in Merritt - Friendly, clean, and quiet. A terrific value in a neat place. Nothing
- Bernadette (9/5): Well worth the extra 5 minute drive off the #5! Wonderful supporting the real local economy. - Great people and very clean and comfortable. Wonderful history of the Coldwater Hotel and a great breakfast at the restaurant! Nice change from the normal “free” breakfast! Highly recommend 😁 Not a single complaint 😁
- Alba (8/5): Very good -
- Kym (8/5): We had fun and we had never been to Merritt before so we enjoyed the history as well. Plus, we met a dog on the roof ha - The history and breakfast was fantastic No fan in bathroom
- Ak (8/5): Very good -
- Marissa (7/5): Good -
- Bs (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yang (8/5): Very good -
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Marcell (9/5): Excellent stay I was pleasantly surprised. - Very unique heritage hotel with a great restaurant, great pub and comfortable rooms all in the heart of downtown.
- Burden (8/5): Very good -
- Jollymour (8/5): Very good -
- Shelley (8/5): Very good - the bed was amazing!!! I want to buy that mattress!!!! I will come again to stay in the same room! The breakfast was good too. I liked watching Rosie! The wifi on the 3rd floor was poor as I could not even download Netflix movies for my trip, and the tv kept buffering. Please put in more wifi routers.
- Connor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lindsay (8/5): Comfortable thoughtful accommodations - The breakfast was just fine. We were impressed by the attentive and friendly service. As we are a couple in our 70s the front desk clerk immediately carried both of our cases up to the 3rd floor as there was no elevator. Service was thoughtful and attentive at their Chinese food buffet too. As it was a Saturday night in a small town and the hotel has a pub even though we could not hear any noise from the pub at all, when it closed at 2am people were then noisy out on the streets upon leaving.
- Katie (6/5): Nice central location - The property was interesting and staff was amazing. The location was great! Bed was really hard and the pillows were really soft.
- William (8/5): Very good -
- Geoff (9/5): Very entertaining and enjoyable in a classic old hotel - Breakfast was substantial and good choices. Parts looked worn but this was a classic hotel
- James (2/5): disapointing - Breakfast was excellent No hot water for shower. Only cold water.
Television did not work.
Restaurant closed at 7 pm.
- Kieran (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jones (7/5): Good -
- Mike (2/5): Very poor -
- Mary (4/5): Disappointing -
- Oswald (6/5): Great location but very grubby. - Very central and great parking. It is an old property and has a lot going for it but needs a compleat refurbishment. Very grubby and there is no lift. Need a lot of work done to it and it would be fantastic. It can be noisy.
- Jenny (10/5): A great stop on our way thru BC - This is a beautiful historic building. It has it's quirks but makes it a unique place to stay.
The pub dinner and included breakfast were great - Big enjoyable meals.
We had no problem with noise from the pub below.
A good stop on our way through BC We were on 3rd floor so a few stairs - not a problem for us but something to be aware of.
- Sverre (10/5): The Coldwater Hotel is a welcome change from cookie-cutter hotels/motels. - If you're looking for something that's a welcome change from cookie-cutter hotels/motels, then the Coldwater Hotel is for you. It was quiet and a bit quirky, which was good. The photo shows the classic fridge. The restaurant is great, especially with the $15 coupon - beats hotel buffets hands down. The attached pub also came in handy after a long day's driving. The managers were very solicitous. This is the second time I've stayed here and I'll come again.
- John (5/5): One night stop not to repeat - This is a very old hotel and it's age and probably many owners shows . There really was not much to like about it, and I would never recommend it to anyone. The bar staff were friendly and advised on what was best not to eat on the menu The bed was old, and the springs squeeked each time I turned over. There was no bedside light. The rooms were dated and tatty . You get a breakfast voucher, but even when having a basic breakfast, you have to pay more
- Illes (1/5): One night stay. - Location.Good communication from the hotel. The room floor was secure. This hotel uses real keys! Breakfast was awesome and delivered by a robot. Did not get the room we booked. the room door did not lock properly, missing cabinet door, and sink would not stop dripping. Compare the Booking.com pics to actual room. The online room worth the $148, the actual room not so much.
- Paul (9/5): Great value for money and nice people - Very responsive staff
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Sun (10/5): Worth to stay - The hotel is a historic building. Owned and operated by a Chinese family. The owner is very nice, friendly and helpful. You can't expect it's a fancy hotel, but it's warm and clean.
