Guest Reviews
- Margaret (8/5): - As we were in a top floor room we had a bath with no shower .
The bathroom however was freshly decorated and had excellent hot water.
- Colin (8/5): Really enjoyed this hotel. Great friendly staff, - Traditional Scottish hotel and bar Nothing
- Vanessa (8/5): A very enjoyable experience. We enjoyed it. - This is a lovely quirky place, full of character and a good variety of guests. People, from various countries, were cycling, walking, on motor bikes and in cars. The local people used the bar in the evening and everyone got on really well together. The location was great for going south from either the far north-west or north-east of Scotland. Small menu but the food was good and we could see that local fruit and veg was delivered to the door. I am in my 80's so the stairs with my overnight bag were difficult and the bath didn't have a rail to hold on to.
- Hawksford (10/5): a hidden gem offering real value for money in a beautiful location - very warm personal welcome. Lovely view over the river and railway bridge from my bedroom. very engaging lady in the bar at dinner. good menu choice, beautifully cooked and presented food. easy to interact with other guests. lovely cooked breakfast and social breakfast tables. excellent value for money on all accounts. very friendly farewell. nothing
- David (7/5): The stay was fine for my needs, just not memorable compared to ther stops on my trip. - My room was up top and spacious. I was able to charge my bike and store securely. The staff were nice and l liked the first name welcome at breakfast. I thought the menu was very limited, so set expectations accordingly. Breakfast was OK, but I have had better on my trip.
- Ben (10/5): Cracking bunkhouse with a lovely welcome - Lovely bunkhouse style hotel in a beautiful location. Cheryl and the other staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The castle is beautiful so take five minutes to walk over the bridge.
Food was excellent, and the bar area unique and welcoming. Beer was excellent too.
Room was clean and bed very comfortable. I was in a single on the third floor - great night sleep and very quiet. Plenty of parking too and ideal for motorcycles on tour.
Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Loved the Tattie cake! Coffee was good too.
A bargain at what I paid, will certainly be back! Thanks Cheryl. Nothing.
- Ewelina (10/5): - The host, food and Scotish atmosphere was great.
- william (8/5): A good place to stay - Good value with great staff and excellent breakfast Fairly noisy road in front but little traffic at night
We travelled on heavy electric mountain bikes with full panier bags. We followed the SUSTRANS route for LEJOG and had to carry the bikes down. 2 lots of
Steep stairs on the nearbye railway bridge. Suggest easier to cross the river at Balloch Bridge a few miles away
Not the hotel’s fault.

- Andrea (10/5): Ganz nette Bewirtung, super Küche und Möglichkeit eines interessanten Spaziergangs. Danke! -
- Guest (9/5): Great staff, cosy place with a homely feel you don't get from larger well priced, - Lovely staff, conveniently located off main road connecting the towns nearby for commuting. Priced very well for the overall setting and hotel. Would stay again if I am travelling to the area for work.
- Maja (9/5): Excellent. - Very friendly and comfortable stay for work. And it had dinner availability which was very convenient.
- Dorothea (10/5): Warm atmosphere, fantastic food, great view - would highly recommend! - Lovely place with comfortable seating arrangements both inside and in the garden. I got a fantastic vegan breakfast und the manager was so nice and welcoming. Also a beautiful view from my window onto the Kyle of Sutherland and the hills behind. Wish I had stayed longer!
- beatrice (10/5): -
- William (8/5): Very good - View was great with the castle in the background TV a bit hard to see from the bed
- John (10/5): Skip Lairg and go to Invershin instead! - Great staff - super friendly and kind. Great music in the bar! Great Room, clean and comfortable. Leaving.
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Nicolette (10/5): Great stay in Invershin - This place was fabulous! I was riding the Far North train to Thurso to take the ferry to Orkney. I stopped here to recover from my flight from NY (boarded the train at the Inverness Airport stop). I wanted a night's rest near the train, but I got so much more. It is a few minutes walk from the train stop. I recieved a lovely, warm welcome and I especially liked the tradtional pub that is downstairs in the very old building that is charmingly furnished with all kinds of Scotish memoribilia and artwork (loved the cartoon sketchs). It was great to just wonder around and examine everything! Good food and ale too, and excellent full Scottish breakfast (although I declined the black pudding; I think that and the haggis are an acquired taste :). I didn't see the "bunkhouse", but they have hostel-like accomdations, as well as the individual rooms. I picked a smaller, twin-bedded room as I was traveling alone, but I looked into a larger double room that looked really nice. I would definitely recommend this inn! My bed was too soft, but that's just me
- Patricia (9/5): Superb - View of railway bridge from room
- Bill (9/5): Great place - Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing to dislike.
- Netanel (10/5): Exceptional - Location, the staff was super friendly and helpful
- Maureen (7/5): Room was lovely. - Breakfast was ok but only fry up tea or coffee and toast on offer. Not as good as other places we stayed. Breakfast selection.
- Cheryl (8/5): Very good -
- William (10/5): An excellent service provided by two lovely staff. - Upon arriving at the hotel we received a very warm welcome from Cheryll and Charlotte. From then on they couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Cheryll really knows the meaning of 'service with a smile'. She never stopped smiling the whole time we were there. We had a very comfortable bed which provided us with a very peaceful night. A lovely breakfast was served in the morning and set us up for the rest of the day. If we are ever in that area again we would certainly be staying here. Didn't have anything to complain about.
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff , food was great and priced well. Room was large and very comfortable.
- Kenneth (9/5): Superb -
- Rhodes (9/5): Superb - The staff were excellent. The meals were great. Not a lot of choice, but the choices were fabulous. Nothing.
- Andy (10/5): Best B&B we visited maybe ever! - Its hard to describe how good this B&B is. We were welcomed personally by the host and she made sure we had everything we need. Its the little things like a cold bottle of fresh milk for the evening tea and recommendations on locations to visit in the Highlands. The room we stayed in was great, it was cosy, clean and it had all the necessary amenities. We also had a great view from our room of the bridge and castle. The bar is also really great to have a drink in and the burgers served there are delicious. We would really visit this B&B again if we were in the neighborhood.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (9/5): Superb - Great location, very friendly and helpful. Fantastic pub where the locals are great to talk about the area. Brilliant base for seeing both east and west. Highly recommended. Nothing not to like!
- Mark (7/5): Good -
