• Chih-Lin (10/5): Love it! - If you need to de-stress, just book this place. Tauhou Matakana is stunningly beautiful and incredibly quiet. Chantel and the sweet dog Bertie made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The space is super clean, the furniture is high quality, and the breakfast was such a treat. You can really feel the love Chantel and Peter put into their plants and fruit trees. It’s easily a 10/10 for us. Highly recommended! NO
• Deirdre (10/5): Serene getaway - Tauhou Matakana was one of the most beautiful, clean and serene places we have stayed in. Chantel and Peter were such generous hosts and shared kind touches like fresh plums and figs from the fruit trees outside our door. Its the perfect stay for a couple who want to explore this beautiful region of the North island. There was nothing about this place we didn't love

• Vernon_Lewis (10/5): - Wonderful location, the owners have been restoring the grounds to native bush, and the amount of bird life is amazing. It's great just to sit there and watch them. It's a really comfortable and well appointed apartment. The owners are really friendly and helpful, and Bertie the Labrador is the cutest. No complaints about anything.

• Zuhayr (10/5): Peaceful, private and lovely - The owners have really gonna fabulous job here. The studio is very well built, with excellent facilities. We were able to cook a full three course meal with kitchen implements better than ours at home! Despite it being up the road from the main property, there is a decent sense of privacy. The grounds are lovely to wander round, with some paths marked out by the owners. And our morning breakfast picnic in the gardens was one of the highlights of the trip. nada

Very spacious accommodation and fantastic grounds around the property to explore. Our hosts were excellent and provided advice and knowledge of the area. We had one of our best meals at Rothko Restaurant a few kilometres away, highly recommend

• Eddie (10/5): Love it! - Our stay at Tahou Matakana was nothing short of amazing. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. One of the highlights was the guided walk around the estate, where we got to see the stunning native plants, trees, and an abundance of birds—plus their lovely, friendly dog! The variety of fruit available was impressive—peaches, apples, pears, mandarins, and more (I honestly lost count!). The accommodation itself was spotless, with a well-equipped kitchen featuring high-quality cutlery and utensils. Everything felt brand new, and we’re so glad we took the leap to stay here. If you're a nature lover, this is an absolute must-visit. The peaceful surroundings, fresh air, and thoughtful hospitality make for a truly special experience. I’m already looking forward to returning!
• Justine (10/5): Absolutely Wonderful and a Must Stay -Just WOW - We LOVED this accommodation. What a lovely way to end our 5 week adventure. Chantal was a very friendly and accommodating host. The studio is so large and airy! Exceptionally clean!! Great mattress and bedding. Loved the outdoor space. We felt very welcome and comfortable. Great location for days at many beaches. Can’t say enough great things about this place. Oh and the kitchen-everything you would need. Dishwasher/oven/stove/full fridge all the supplies you would ever need. Bread, butter, milk, homemade jam, cookies, teas, yoghurt, wine. JUST FABULOUS. Well done, excellent space and design. We will return -Thanks for the visits Bertie!! Just WOW—oh and the many birds and wildlife and thanks for all the info on them-oh and a great shower and luxurious towels. Having to leave-this is just a wonderful place to relax.
• Yelena (10/5): Blown away, loved it so much we extended our stay. Great hosts and great location. - We loved our stay at the Tauhou Matakana studio so much we decided to stay longer. Upon arrival it was immediately obvious that Chantal and Peter had put a lot of thought, care and attention to detail into creating a beautiful, tranquil, high quality space for guests. Chantal's homemade plum jam made a yummy addition to our breakfast. The delicious muesli was so fresh we wondered if Chantal roasted it herself on the morning of our arrival :) Everything in the studio was in its perfect place, very clean and of high quality, making our stay comfortable and very enjoyable.
