Guest Reviews
- Parkes (1/5): Unpleasant to stay in, should not be rented to the public in this state. - It was difficult to find the way into the property, not realising that the property was split into two residences.
Both apartments had an overwhelming smell of mould and damp, downstairs apartment was terrible.
Mould on every curtain.
Outdoor staircase to main apartment the handrail fell off, the steps were green with mould and slippery, the safety gate was broken.
Mould in many patches of the ceiling.
Shelves in both kitchens were dirty.
BBQ unusable, thick with fat and dirt.
Downstairs toilet gave off strong smell of urine constantly despite cleaning it.
TV downstairs could not be plugged in because the plug was covered over.
Heating inadequate, only a tiny bar heater downstairs and oil heater upstairs. House was cold to be in during a cold snap.
Owners belongings laying around all over the place, mattresses propped up against wall downstairs.
3 chairs broke when sat upon by a small woman.
Smoke alarm upstairs not working.
Light in upstairs double room not working, no bulbs available to replace.
Windows were in such poor state many could not be opened.
Doonas were stained and filthy.
Gutter leaking onto the deck, probably backed up and causing mould on ceilings, could not see and no ladder available to check.
Laundry full of owners junk.
Stains down internal walls.
Washing machine needed a peg to depress the power button. This house is unsafe and unhealthy. It should not be rented to the public again until major works have been completed upon it. The mould is absolutely disgusting through both apartments. General state of repair is dangerous.
The house was rented by a charity doing disaster preparation works in the area, it was embarrassing to me to take volunteers to sleep in such an unhealthy and dangerous house.
- Hamish (10/5): Exceptional -
- Naven (1/5): Learn customer service. - Location Booking.com gave confirmation and calypso didn't clean the place. We had to look for another place after last minute. Very poor arrangement.
- Paula (7/5): Overall was good stay cleaners didn’t dust however once I spoke to the office they fixed this issue straight away - Location Stairs
- Camillo (9/5): Great value Great place to sta - Nice location plenty of room clean comfortable and great value for money
- Kylie (7/5): Great verandah and fabulous dog friendly space. - This area of Hawkie is lovely and this property is perfect for dogs. Comfortable living area and great fenced yard which is beautifully shaded.Fabulous trees and birds. The veranda is terrific and has a huge slide out shade awning.
If you don’t like going up stairs it’s not for you, however there is a 2 br self contained ( albeit unrenovated) flat underneath. Great shower head and plenty of comfortable outdoor furniture. It was a tad warm and uncomfortable inside upstairs and the provided floor fan was pretty poor. I’m thinking
( having had an association with the place for 63 years)..with global warming, …holiday property owners at Hawks Nest are really going to have to start getting ceiling fans and/or air conditioning. I also think when one is paying $2500 for the week, it’s not really good enough to get the feeling that you’re lobbing in on someone’s holiday house. Ie the kitchenware, china ( it’s a case of more is not always better)…and furniture ,cushions etc needs an overhaul, particularly the dining chairs which appear to have lost all their spring support. It may be ok for a families holiday house but not a commercial rental.
PS a seriously low toilet.
- Griffin (1/5): We did not stay once we saw the property and would not recommend as a family option. - The staff listened and responded very quickly and efficiently to our concerns about staying in this property and arranged an alternative location. The photographs are not representative of the property as we saw it in reality. The description does not mention that some of the bedrooms can only be accessed by an outdoor stairway. The front door access is blocked by internal furniture. Linen must be hired at a cost of $22 per person.
- Deborah (6/5): Other than the above it was enjoyable - N/a Maybe ceiling fans as the house was very hot and the old fans were useless in humid weather. BBQ was very dirty and we had to clean before using.
- Donna (8/5): we had a wonderful time to celebrate my sons birthday. The staff are wonderful, friendly and helpful at HN Beach Realty - we liked the size of the property, the number of beds and the location. the water pressure and shower head in the upstairs shower was not great and there was limited cooling options so we were lucky it wasn’t too hot.
