• Nicholas (9/5): A place worth staying at for warm friendly service with comfortable rooms and great food - Excellent and comfortable Inn style hotel with great food anbd a cosy bar and restaurant with lots of locals eating and drinking. Probably the best omlete I have ever eaten for breakfast. I will stay there, up in the hills in a quiet town location again.

• Wendy (10/5): Incredible place to stay, with an excellent breakfast and really helpful staff. - The room and facilities were superb and the staff were incredible- so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent- best cheese omelette I’ve had along with great coffee, fresh orange juice and toast. We ate a tasty simple meal in the restaurant one evening and cooked in the kitchen on our first night. We parked in the street and it was safe and close to the room. Absolutely recommend it! I really can’t think of anything!

Habitaciones grandes, muy limpias, con vistas increíbles y muy tranquilas. Las camas muy cómodas. El desayuno fantástico, y las cenas que hicimos en el bar del hotel muy buenas también. Un sitio muy recomendable para visitar Euskadi, tanto por calidad-precio como por ubicación.

Koupelna pěkná a čistá. Pokoj s koupelnou vypadají jako po čerstvé, precizní rekonstrukci. Ubytování je součásti restaurace, kam chodí místní. Byla tam příjemná atmosféra a dobré jídlo. • Zara (10/5): Stunning - We only stayed one night and we regretted that because it's worth staying in this hotel for a few days. Our bedroom was incredibly beautiful, comfortable, and clean. It's modern and it was easy to carry our big bags to the top floor (where the bedrooms are) because it has a lift that only guests and staff can access. The staff are the nicest!! Guests have access to the first floor as well where they have a kitchen and a living room... but we didn't have the chance to use it so I can't comment on this, but the fact that you can use a kitchen to cook your own food outside your bedroom is a great idea. The hotel is in a little village called Altzo, 30 mins drive from San Sebastián/Donosti. It's close enough but away from all the big city noise and tourists. Altzo is very quiet and beautiful. It's not really a bad thing, but some people may find this info useful: Although it was easy to find with a satnav, we arrived quite late at night and the road is a bit narrow and very dark, so if you're not comfortable with this, you may want to make sure you go there during the day. But we got to see a hedgehog crossing the road, which was lovely.

• Stephen (9/5): Superb - We booked this hotel for just an overnight going from Burgos to San Sabastian and I was so disappointed we couldn't have stayed more. It is just off the A1 but a million miles from the hustle and bustle of livelier places. The room was really comfortable and clean and just so relaxing, I was in bed for 10 and didn't wake until 8. The huge selling point for me was the location. The village is basically dead after 9 but the hotel does have a restaurant and bar (closed Tues the night of our visit) but the views from room and the terrace are superb it felt like we were in Switzerland. In the morning we were enchanted by the local nursery/ toddlers group playing in the square opposite. The breakfast at €6 was never going to be great but it was adequate (see below). About 10min drive away just as you come off the A1 there is a cafe/restaurant called 'Route 33 Gourmet' where you can stop for snacks/ drinks bottle of wine etc Nothing it was just great and without doubt if I'm ever in the area againI will be staying here but for longer just to unwind. However just an idea, not a criticism with breakfast possibly offer two choices the simple and something more involved.
• Megan (10/5): We will be back. - What a gem of a place! The hotel looked very traditional and ordinary from the outside, but the bedroom was very modern, a good size with really comfortable beds and a lovely big en-suite shower room. There is a lift to the upper floors. We were welcomed warmly in Spanish as we don't speak Basque, and the lady (manager? owner?) only had a few words of English. We decided to eat at their restaurant, and were greeted by name by the chef/owner, and the waiter was excellent, very friendly and pacient, even though the restaurant was quite busy. A first for us: we could choose our own time for breakfast which was served in the bar. What a lovely experience in a lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. That we could only stay for the one night.

This time we only had a short stay during our long journey through Spain and France but it would definitely be a perfect place for longer stays as well! The hosts were so very kind and friendly, going above and beyond in hospitality. They showed great flexibility in meal arrangements and taking care of our lost items. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
