Guest Reviews
- Devendra (8/5): - The room was. Clean. Easy stay. Fair price. Hot water. Hand-wash. Lizard in the bathroom, that window could be sealed with mesh. Only one ceiling fan, that does not suffice during summer. Should add AC if someone wants AC.
- Poojary (4/5): -
- Guillaume (8/5): -
- Archana (5/5): Was comfortable but washroom could be cleaner. - There was place for parking Washroom
- Sheila Silvia (8/5): - Betten waren sehr bequem... personal super nett, lage auch toll... war 9 nächte in dem hostel Kühlschrank und mikrowelle wären super.
- Sandesh (10/5): Worth it - everything nothing
- saurabh (9/5): -
- Hari (5/5): For the budget, it's okay but not good enough - Cocogreen is often projected as a budget stay, but based on my experience, there are a few important things to keep in mind before booking.
Pros:
• Priced at around ₹523 per day, which may look attractive for backpackers.
• Located close to the coracle ride and a couple of popular spots in Hampi, making sightseeing convenient.
• The surrounding area is naturally beautiful, though expectations should be kept modest.
• Easy booking via Booking.com and other platforms.
•The host is friendly and provides basic guidance about the area.
Cons:
•The property is very small, basically a two-room setup: one dormitory and one room with three beds.
•AC is switched on only during full occupancy, as mentioned by the caretaker/host, which can be uncomfortable otherwise. They've shown the image of AC in Booking.com which in my opinion is misleading and will become difficult for traveler's staying here during summer season.
•There is no common area, balcony, or view, so no space to relax or socialize.
•Bathroom is common and poorly maintained. The toilet seat was particularly unclean, which was a big letdown. I’ve stayed in several hostels in the same price range (₹500–₹600) with much better hygiene and facilities, so this was disappointing.
•Very early checkout time. Guests are expected to check out by 9:30 AM, and extra charges apply if you cross this time, which feels quite restrictive for travelers.
Overall opinion:
While the price suggests a budget stay, the basic facilities—especially cleanliness—fall short for what is being paid. Hygiene is a deal-breaker for me, and because of that, I wouldn’t personally consider this a value-for-money budget option.
This place might work for travelers who prioritize location and cost above everything else, but I’d recommend others to manage expectations or explore better-maintained alternatives in the same price range. Bathroom is common and poorly maintained. The toilet seat was particularly unclean, which was a big letdown. I’ve stayed in several hostels in the same price range (₹500–₹600) with much better hygiene and facilities, so this was disappointing.
- V (1/5): Bad experience - Worst experience canceled room as soon u reached the location Worst customer experience never trust
- abhishek (8/5): Great stay - Great Location and it is good value for money. Host is amazing he will guide you through everything. Drinking water chargeable more than mrp. Bathroom can be more clean
- Will (10/5): - Cocogreen is set among rice fields and boulders but close to everything you need for a comfortable stay. It's also great for exploring the temples and natural beauty of Hampi's north side, and Sanapur itself has nice restaurants, shops, bike rental and bus connections. Immanuel is a wonderful host - who genuinely cares for his guests and is very friendly and helpful. Thank you!
- Punit (9/5): - The landscapes arround They do not have good drinking water facilities.
- Vivek Gangishetty (10/5): - “Great stay! Rooms were clean, service was good, and the host (Immanuel) was very caring. He even helped me get to the hospital when I fell ill. Truly appreciate the hospitality.”
- Zanata (10/5): - I feel like at home, thanks my friend Lock 🔒 was closed
- Hemant Parmar (7/5): Mediocre - The property owner was very friendly and he ensured that you stay comfortable in your stay. He shared an itinerary to explore Hampi and guided me as to how can I go about exploring given my time of stay there. The property location is amazing very close to the mountains and the paddy field. Great to step out and get a beautiful view!! The place was not clean at all. I was under the impression that it would be like a proper hostel. But it turned out to be a make shift one. It was just a small row house with the most minimal space. The AC was not working and the kitchen was stuffed with some items lying arounds. The overall look of the place made it very unpleasant.
- Jahnavi (5/5): Avoidable - Greenery outside. Decent sized bed
Secure and safe Only one washroom for 10 people - not even a separate toilet and shower
No water bottle given or included
Emmanuel barely shows up and then if he has shown you the room - he actually tells you to show the other people who come late. He does not host at all. I mean why should I tell others how it works? I'm not staff! Emmanuel is always in a hurry and busy with other things.
Location is not great either - it's a bit far out from the main town area and attractions.
- Akshay (10/5): - Had an amazing stay at Cocogreen. Emmanuel is a great host.
- Mohd (8/5): Location is very convenient but facilities need some improvements to make guests experience more worthy. Some rules shou - Location of the property was quite convenient and the surroundings were quiet and peaceful. There’s only one bathroom/toilet and with many guests one has to wait for the turn sometimes longer. Also a functional kitchen would be an added advantage. Also very importantly, guests must be made aware of respecting space and privacy of others as during my stay there were some insensitive and inconsiderate guests who would talk loudly until 2 30 am due to which I couldn’t sleep at all.
- Arun (8/5): -
- sparsh (2/5): - Not at all like what is advertised in the photos. No common area, pretty dull room, no drinking water, no lockers, nonchalant host
- Vanessa (8/5): Stay in between mystical hills and rocks - Friendly and helpful host. Basic facilities in good condition. Location is perfect for hiking, bouldering and enjoying the river. Small shops, restaurants and travel agency nearby.
Be aware in monsoon time the ferry to hampi south is maybe not in operation. Nevertheless the longer ride through villages, agricultural fields and next to magic hills is really enjoyable. There is no common area available.
- Nidhi (9/5): Superb - The surroundings are very peaceful and beautiful. The host Imanuel is a wonderful guy & super friendly. He went out of the way and helped us. I went for a weekend trip with my mom,it was a wonderful stay.
- Hattiholi (10/5): Exceptional - Mr immanuel is a very knowledgeable person with the surrounding area with good welcoming nature and a very friendly person, it was a great stay in hampi wish to come back here again.
- Lukas (10/5): Exceptional - Great Stay in Northern Hampi. The Host is very friendly and can help you with Transport, Scooter Rental, Travel Tips, Washing clothes and anything else. Highly recommend staying here!
- Venkatachalam (6/5): If u are a solo traveler u can go - Very basic, but ok.. Ok
- Navya (1/5): No hygiene, no fan, no proper electricity, not corpotative - Ummm nothing The facility firstly there was no wall fan there was a table fan provided, literally there was no inverter when there was no electricity, all the insects can on my bad and the person who was there did not even gave mosquitoes repellant, he just dusted those insects and told me to close the light. Also the property was empty all the best were empty still he did not allow me to check out 1 hr later.
- Shahane (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was nice Everything
- Vinay (8/5): Very good - The location was really peaceful, close to the Tungabhadra river bank, can experience the fresh Breeze and blissful sunrise/sunsets. There are few cafes close by so we can manage food within a few metres of a walk. Everything is good for me, except for a few suggestions, maybe the property could have made some free drinking water instead of selling bottled water in the property. And not a big issue but a thing to be considered just in case before booking is the location is a bit far from the main humpi by road, there is ferry service available at a distance 3-5 kms from property.
- Yakkaladevara (8/5): Very good -
- Chandrakant (8/5): Good place for solo travellers - Host Immanuel is a great help, He helped us visit lot of places around also he was always available for quick helps here and there. They are managing it pretty well but the space is little smaller an upgrade in size will really help them.
- Akash (7/5): Good -
- Bharath (9/5): Clean place, Nice location, Good host. -
- K (8/5): Very good -
- Idan (8/5): Good value for money, nice room, friendly host - Comfy room, good hot shower, clean, nice area, friendly host Room is very small, almost impossible to open your luggage if you're with 2 people.
- Carly (8/5): The host was lovely, super helpful. Doing really well considering he only opened in April. - It was quiet despite there being cafes nearby There was no outside seating to chill and my bed was a little uncomfortable
- Vishnu (9/5): Superb - Nice view from outside of the stay
- Vishnu (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly Staff and Comfortable beds No charging point near the bed.
- Chinni (10/5): A memorable stay with an amazing host. Strongly suggest for anyone looking for a hostel in Hampi. - Peaceful location with hill view and easy access to sunset point, Sanapur lake and anjanadri. Host, Immanuel is amazing he explained all the things to do during our stay in and around Hampi. Nothing
- Pratik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kaitlyn (9/5): Superb - The property owner was kind and helpful. It is an easy walk to the lake and river. You can rent a bike nearby and ride over to the ferry for Hampi. The area is very beautiful.
- Singh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abigail (8/5): Great location, very basic room but low in price, and friendly owner. - The location of the property was fantastic. Very close to surrounding restaurants, shops, the Sanapura lake and also to the river. It was also very close to a fantastic view point, Bala Hanuman Temple.
The view from outside of the property itself was incredible - surrounded by farms and paddy fields.
The owner, Immanuel, was very communicative, and helped me arrange my arrival and departure Auto transfer.
The dorm room was basic, but had everything you needed, and for the price, was good value due to the location. You could also use the shared kitchen and balcony seating attached to the private rooms, just a couple of minutes away. Wifi worked well. I stayed in the shared dorm. It was a very basic room, although I feel that the price reflects this. The room had everything I needed and I enjoyed my stay. However, there are a couple of things for future travellers to be aware of:
- The fan in the room only has 1 setting, and so when it is turned on, it is very loud.
- There is no lockable storage area in the room.
- There was no hot water when I was there, which I personally don't mind too much, but the owner said this was getting fixed.
- The mattresses on the beds are VERY thin. Again, not a huge problem for me, but something to consider.
- Although you could use the shared kitchen and seating facilities attached to the private rooms, it might be nice for the owner to consider putting a a couple of chairs on the patio outside the dorm room.
- Alexia (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice and helpful owner, clean AC room It is a bit far away in north hampi, so if you want to see the ruins you have to take a 300 roupies to the ferry point, and then take the ferry to make it to the bazar
- Kiran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Midhun (6/5): Pleasant -
- Subhadip (8/5): Very good - everything
- Rachamalla (10/5): Exceptional - Iam solo traveller and this is my first time visiting Hampi. I have stayed for 2days in dorms which was the best choice I made. This is an ideal spot for solo traveler within the budget with hot shower and AC.
This place is located across mountains and paddy field which you can view from the window. And it is very close to Sanapur lake which is a great for a pretty evening walk with the sunset view. Surrounded around some good cafés where you can chill at nights with perfect live music.
Immauel, the host welcoming was great and ensures you are comfortable throughout the stay.Highly recommend this place..!!!

- Subarno (9/5): Superb - Clean and very well maintained highly recommended for people looking for something good in a affordable price
- Vivek (8/5): Very good - The owner was very friendly and helpful. He was there whenever you needed anything. The washroom needs a little improvement.
- Vaibhav (9/5): Great place to stay in Hampi under your Budget. Awesome owner and equally good facilities. - Amazing owner, he really made sure of everything we needed. Good wifi speed and even the AC. Beds and Linen were clean. Overall a really comfortable and a Nice stay in Hampi Breakfast not available and no hot water.
- Pranay (7/5): Good -
- Jerome (8/5): An enjoyable and comfortable stay in a beautiful property. - Amazing stay in this property, located amongst beautiful landscapes. Comfortable and clean facilities, and Immanuel, the owner, goes above and beyond to ensure an enjoyable stay at his property and in Hampi. He will guide you in everything you need. Will definitely stay again if I ever visit Hampi again. Nothing I didn’t like.
- Nagesh (10/5): Exceptional - The hostel is very clean and well maintained
And also very close to the mountains and green fields and the hostel owner is very friendly and helpful person 😁
- Jessica (10/5): A really pleasant stay! - This was a really lovely room with a nice comfortable set of chairs to sit and relax with a view. I also loved the terrace. And there are some great cafes in walking distance and so much to do in the area from yoga, climbing, coricle boat ride and more.
- Mukunda (8/5): Very good - Thi is an ideal spot for solo backpackers! It offers a cozy, budget-friendly stay with a welcoming host who ensures you're comfortable throughout. The nearby cafes are great for grabbing a quick bite or settling in for some relaxation. The natural surroundings add to the peaceful vibe, making it the perfect escape for nature lovers. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a friendly, affordable, and scenic place to stay! Hot water not available
- Singh (10/5): Exceptional - A Nice place staying for solo travelers, budget friendly, arround nice nature, paddy fields & mountains, and also very close to sanapur lake , sanapur waterfall, baala Hanuman temple for sunset point one of the best sunset point in north hampi ,wifi also very good ,recommended place ,
- Ninjaryo (10/5): Exceptional - cheap and local restaurants are not far.
The room is large, bed is also comfy. It's a bit dark at night.
- Rohan (4/5): Disappointing - Open terrace, isolated, not many guests so you can have quiet time Dead vibe, extremely small rooms
- Lakshmi (10/5): Exceptional - Stay has a good vibe and a nice ambience. Very friendly host, helped us through our whole trip. 💯 recommend this stay for hampi travel.
- Pampapathi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lakshmi (6/5): Pleasant -
- Stefaan (9/5): Great stay - beautiful views - Very nice and new homestay in Hampi! The room was very comfortable and the owner is super helpful and friendly. It is located in the beautiful and quiet rice fields near Hampi but there’s still quite a few nice restaurants nearby. We really enjoyed our stay here. Unfortunately there was no wifi and running hot water at the time. But the owner just started up the guesthouse, so it should be up and running soon.
- Sreeram (6/5): Pleasant -
- Priya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fabian (9/5): Nice stay with view on rice fields - We spent 3 full days with Emanuel and he was really welcoming. The room was cozy and clean and Emanuel can help you arrange pick up, tours or scooter at fair prices (we found out later that even people living there do not pay less). Moreover, you have access to a roof top terrace with a 360 degree view into the amazing landscape. The homestay is placed in a beautiful scenery as it's surrounded by rice fields.
Very close there is a super nice and chill restaurant "Serene Boulders" which was perfect for breakfast and dinner.
The whole village has a nice, chilling vibe. Unfortunately, there is no bridge to Hampi and the ferry was suspended due to the high water during our stay, which made us driving 45min to reach the historical sites of Hampi. You might check with google maps whether it's open again, if it's important for you to get to the main archelogical sites quickly. Unfortunately, the WiFi was not working during our stay. If this issue is fixed, it's a 10 next time we visit.
- Bhaskar (10/5): Serene Retreat: Discovering Hampi's Hidden Gem - My recent stay at Cocogreen hampi, hosted by Immanuel, exceeded all expectations. Located amidst lush greenery and easily accessible, this homestay offers both dormitory and private room options, and I opted for the dormitory accommodation.
Immanuel, our gracious host, made the experience truly memorable with his friendly demeanor and impeccable hospitality. From the moment I arrived, he ensured I felt welcomed and comfortable throughout my stay. He was always available to assist with any queries and went above and beyond to make sure all guests had a pleasant experience.
The dormitory itself was well-maintained and equipped with all necessary amenities. The beds were comfortable, and the common areas were clean and inviting. Despite being a dormitory, there was ample space and privacy, making it ideal for both solo travelers and groups.
One of the highlights of my stay was the beautiful surroundings. The property is nestled in a serene location, surrounded by greenery, which provided a peaceful atmosphere perfect for relaxation and unwinding.
Overall, my experience at Cocogreen hampi was outstanding thanks to Immanuel's hospitality, the comfortable dormitory accommodation, and the serene surroundings. I highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a welcoming atmosphere and a memorable stay in a picturesque location.
I look forward to returning to Cocogreen hampi and experiencing Immanuel's warm hospitality once again. Nothing to dislike
