Guest Reviews
- Luigi (10/5): -
- Chad (10/5): Excellenct hostel experience - Raymond the host. Wow what a great man.. Cooked us hot pot on one of the evenings and had some wonderful conversations. Loved it all
- Imbeau (10/5): Relaxing, convenient, social. - I can’t recommend the Echo Guesthouse enough for solo travellers looking to enjoy their time in Hakuba. It’s a great location near restaurants, izakayas, and bus stops. Raymond went out of his way to make sure I was set for skiing with the right busses and recommendations for renting equipment. Thank you for the great stay!
- Lachlan (10/5): -
- Dylan (10/5): - Awesome location, smack bang in the middle of Echoland with restaurants and bars surrounding. Raymond was an excellent host - very accommodating.
- Ella (9/5): Great location, comfy beds and great people! - A lovely little guesthouse ran by a great host Raymond. As a solo female traveller I found this place awesome to meet others, the beds are insanely comfy, amenities were nice and a great location in Echoland. I will definitely be back! That i had to leave! Also the breakfast is a lighter meal, which might not suit everyone but it was good!
- Nathan (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Great cozy hostel in center of Echoland - Right in the center of Echoland main street which, in my opinion, is the best area for nightlife and socializing in Hakuba. Convenience store across the road. Located on top of a small restaurant. Only 4 rooms, so it's cozy and not overcrowded. Comfortable beds with a large locker each, and well setup dorm rooms. Dry room. Small social area, which is awesome for meeting other guests and hanging out compared to large hostels. No kitchen but there is a microwave and a communal fridge.

- Zoe (10/5): Vibey hostel to connect with people and enjoy the slopes! - Choosing a place to stay in Hakuba is a difficult choice with so many locations and options, but I arrived on this one because of the raving reviews about Raymond. And to my shock, he succeeded these expectations. He is so accommodating and has made a cute little home away from home with this space. Fantastic area to meet like minded people and connect, and of course hit those slopes all day every day. Loved it! Only recommendation.. maybe some curtains on the beds ☺️
- Benjamin (9/5): -
- bishop (10/5): - Raymond is awesome, couldn’t be nicer and more accommodating. He has laundry facilities, a restaurant on site and the location is perfect (if you want to be near restaurants/nightlife/ski resorts)
- Nyssa (10/5): Great time and a great host! - Raymond is absolutely fantastic! He goes above and beyond for everyone. Echo Guest House is in a great location, particularly with the bus stop right out the front. The ramen restaurant downstairs is also very good.

- Nikolas (10/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): Value and location can’t be beat. - Raymond, the host, is absolutely amazing. Has the bus routes for the entire area totally memorized, and can tell you how to get anywhere. The location is perfect, walking distance from anything you could possibly need. And the room and bed were just right. The value, location, and hospitality of this place simply cannot be beat. I will be staying here again in the future for sure.

Rooms are so comfortable, chill area (common area) perfect space to relax after a long day on the mountains, meet others. Raymond the owner is a great man. Breakfast included is delicious. I even extended for a further 2 nights. Highly recommend and will be back Nothing at all was really perfect. Even bedrooms equip with many many hanging hooks.

- Matthew (10/5): -
- Mahony (10/5): It was fun, affordable and in a great location - It was in such a good location and a great way to make friends and have a good time. I only stayed there for 7 days
- Lachlan (10/5): Unforgettable experience, amazing people, great value. - This place was a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Raymond was phenomenal host, creating an incredible atmosphere where I met amazing, down-to-earth people from all over the world to snowboard and hang out with. The value for money is unbelievable, and I can’t wait to come back next year!
- Heather (10/5): Awesome - Everything was perfect Nothing
- Kyle (10/5): - Great location. Raymond was a great host.
- Kayla (10/5): Exceptional stay - fun and homely vibe, a social hub, great location, and the best host! - Superb location, lovely & accommodating host, and great breakfast provided. Raymond was always making sure all his guests had everything they needed, going above & beyond to ensure we all had an amazing experience. He even kindly drove us to the bus terminal at the end of our stay when we had just asked him for directions. The hostel was such a fun & lively social hub, as there are only ever 16 guests in total it really facilitated everyone getting to know each other. Fantastic vibes, very clean facilities, the rooms and beds were very decently sized too. Raymond also offered a free laundry service for his guests which was incredibly helpful. We would definitely stay here again! No complaints at all!
- Dan (10/5): -
- Jessica (9/5): - The host was incredibly helpful, comfy beds and breakfast provided. Great location close to multiple bus stops and lots of bars and restaurants. Space was a bit small but made up for it with all the other positives.
- Riemenschneider (8/5): Friendly atmosphere and a very helpful host - The location was very close to the buses and the slopes Our clothing smells like the Ramen shop that is in the first floor
- Mackenzie (10/5): - Raymond was such a lovely host, offering to drive my brother and I around if needed. Very friendly and always open for a great conversation. Defiantly would return to echo house again.
- patrick (10/5): Great location within walking distance to everything you need with a legend of a host. - Everything you needed in a good location with an awesome host Nothin
- Will (10/5): One Aussie to another - The people traveling through were friendly and down to chat, Raymond is an absolute legend/mate. Would recommend he's an encyclopedia of knowledge around the hakuba region. Figuring out where to go at first can be deceptive, walk straight through the restaurant simply put.
- Arjun (10/5): Amazing stay, couldn’t have asked for more! Great breakfast cooked every morning, and a 10m walk outside to the bus stop - Amazing atmosphere and hostel environment! Nothing!
- Jack (8/5): great location and fantastic owner !!!! -
- Courtney (10/5): A wholesome snow experience at the heart of Hakuba - My friend and I absolutely loved our stay with Raymond! We stayed 5 nights for a ski/snowboard trip. Initially we were unsure about booking our stay as there were minimal reviews, however this is only because this Guesthouse has recently opened (December 2024). The Guesthouse was reasonably priced considering we booked very last and everywhere else in Hakuba was booked out.
We stayed in a four bedroom mixed door. The room had lockers for important belongings, although I didn't feel we needed to use it. The room was cosy and had heating. The beds were very comfy for a bunkbed set up. Each bed had x2 USB cables and a reading lamp. There is a 10pm no noise policy. Everyone respected this and those who wanted to party, left at this time whilst others were able to rest up after a long day on the mountain. The age of guests ranged between 17 - 50+ years.
Each morning Raymond prepared breakfast. Breakfast was basic and consisted of boiled eggs, toast with spreads and tea/coffee. I found this perfect before hitting the slopes, however may not be everyones taste.
Location is absolutely perfect. The Guesthouse has a Ramen restaurant downstairs (it is delish). The Guesthouse is central and within short walking distance to all the restaurants and bars. It was also a short 5 minute walk to Shakespeare's which is the only place in town that offers yoga classes. There is a bus stop right outside the Guesthouse, which made it very convenient to get the bus to all the main mountains in Hakuba. Thursday nights Raymond prepares Hot Pot for all the guests. This was included with our stay. This was a wholesome evening which brought everyone together.
The Guesthouse did not feel like a hostel, but a family home. Raymond is very accommodating and made us feel safe and welcomed. Raymond supported with all our transport queries, luggage and dropped us off at the train station after our stay. I hope to return to Echo Guesthouse in the near future. I would have preferred a curtain for additional privacy, but did not overly necessary, more personal preference.
- yen-po (10/5): - 住宿離雪場接駁車超近!位置很讚!Raymond人很好,把民宿氣氛營造的很溫馨,期待下次有機會再入住。 無
- Daniel (10/5): Convenient hostel with an amazing host - Clean accomm, amazing location (close to shuttle buses), 10% discount on ski rentals at spicy, Raymond was an amazing and accommodating host, giving lifts to Happo-One Bus Terminal and giving us extra food/drinks Initially difficult to find - it's on top of a ramen shop, but once you know the location it's fine
- Joel (10/5): -
- Gibson (10/5): Amazing hostel for a solo traveller - I'm so glad that I booked Echo Guesthouse for my time in Hakuba. It's located on top of a ramen restaurant so was a bit tricky to find at first, but the other guests were so welcoming and I immediately met people and ended up snowboarding with them for the whole 4 days I was there. The owner Raymond is super relaxed and friendly, and he even put on a hot pot dinner for the guests on a night when the restaurant was closed. The location is super central to everything you need in town. Would 100% recommend. The rooms and lounge are small but very clean.
- Bo-Han (8/5): highly recommend - The host was super nice, willing to meet all the guests request.
The stay is simple but clean. The location is super convenient, you can walk to the bus station which connect to all the ski hills, also there are los of restaurants around the corner. Breakfast is included!! There are eggs, meat, and toast. For drinks, there are coffee or tea. The bathroom space is really small.
- Georgia (10/5): Great for Adventures in Hakuba - Raymond is an incredibly helpful and friendly host, even going out of his way to assist me in getting to the bus station at the end of my trip.
The included breakfast is simple yet perfectly suited for fueling up before a day on the slopes. The bus stops are conveniently located just 50 meters from the front door, making it easy to get to the ski areas.
The downstairs area serves as a restaurant in the evening, which I unfortunately didn’t get to try, but it smelt amazing. Despite this, it was always quiet in the room. Note that the showers are located downstairs, so if you shower in the evening, you’ll need to pass through a small section of the restaurant.
I’ll be enthusiastically recommending Echo Guest House to any friends travelling in the area!
- Amy (10/5): Wholesome and fun! - The rooms and facilities were clean and comfortable but the best part about this accommodation was Raymond (the host). He was professional, friendly, and went above and beyond to create a fun and safe environment. I would 100% recommend to solo female travellers like myself.
- Ming Yi (10/5): As comfortable as home - Raymond the owner is the most friendly and helpful guy I’ve ever met on a solo trip. He truly made my stay felt like at home. The guesthouse is very new and well-decorated. All the amenities are well-equipped. I stayed comfortably for 7 nights without any issue at all. The location is perfect. It’s at the centre of echoland, very close to bus stations so it’s great to catch the early buses to the ski resorts. Thanks Raymond for making my ski trip so wonderful! I’ll definitely come back!
- Oliver (10/5): Best guesthouse I’ve ever stayed at! - Best guesthouse I’ve ever stayed at! Raymond was the best host, amazing vibe and great location! 11/10
Will definitely be staying there next time
- Dylan (10/5): -
- JUAN MARÍA (9/5): Para repetir - La ubicación y el personal.
- Riku (10/5): -
- Le (10/5): It’s greaaaaaat to stay in echo guest house in our Hakuba trip, we really enjoyed our ski vacation!!! strongly recommend - Raymond, the property, is really cool who makes friends with everyone in his house, introduced clearly facilities when we checked in, also provided as much information about Hakuba village tasty foods, ski rentals and resorts etc.
In addition, the breakfast he prepares every morning is so good to enjoy a whole day skiing/snowboarding. Usually when we woke up, the breakfast is available already. In this case, it’s super good to take the earliest shuttle bus to the resorts.
Also, Raymond highlights the shuttle bus stop near the house to different ski resorts. No more than 100 meters we can take the bus to Goryu, Hakuba47, Happo-One, Tsugaike etc.
Hope we can stay Raymond’s house again next year for our ski trip!!!!!! Everything is good!!!
- Henry (10/5): - It was extremely cozy and very comfortable to stay in. Raymond, the owner was exceptionally accommodating and nice. He got me from the train station, helped figure out rentals, and cooked breakfast. Can not recommend this property enough!
