- Todd (7/5): Nice Homestay with comfy bed in the centre. - Good location and comfy bed Hard to find and get into room.

- Jessica (9/5): - The room was well equipped and a good side
Very comfortable bed
Host was brilliant at communicating and even sent recommendations for my time in Hanoi The bathroom was very hot, could benefit from having a fan installed
There were multiple cockroaches in the stairway
- Imene (8/5): Very good - It was in the middle of the old quarter, Ms Ly was super Helpfull I was always in contact with here and she answered all the silly questions.
I was also allowed to stay till 8 pm for a small fee.
The best part the balcony with view of the Old Quarter I loved it . It's in the Old quarter, the isolation is not good, that means noise noise noise, and as I was jet lagged, the noise lasted till 6 am, it was quiet for a few hours and then back again .
The Homestay is a bit hard to find and there is a self check in .
- Brooke (6/5): Cheap stay with some drawbacks - The host was very nice and attentive, although we never met them in person. Room was spacious. Good location. During our 5 night stay, the shared bathroom was not cleaned at all. It also was not clean when we arrived as the garbage was half full and as you can imagine 5 days later, it was overflowing. This was surprising to us since the bathroom was shared. You do have to walk through a kitchen of a local to get to the stairs up to the apartment. We saw lots of cockroaches and HUGE spiders ( the size of my hand ) downstairs and on the stairs. While it is a good location, with a street view in the old quarter, it can be very loud. Fortunately we only stayed one Friday night and no other weekend nights. When we left for our bus at 5:15 AM, there were still lots of people out drunk and partying in the street outside the apartment. The noise can be heard in the apartment. Bring earplugs. The door to the apartment is very flimsy, if I was a solo traveler I would feel very uneasy because of this.
- Katerina (8/5): Very good - Room was lovely, spacious, fridge and kettle in the room. It is located on the middle of Old Quarter. Has a little balcony where you can see what is going on in the street. Bed is comfy. Aircon works well. Lots of restaurants, caffes etc if that's your thing. Staff was wonderful and good communication over whatsapp. I don't like to complain and pinpoint the negative stuff. But if I have to say perhaps a couple of things. It gets busy as night and quite loud on the street. I don't like to party and go out as I like to feel great in the morning and I like my sleep. I was sleeping well, just bring your earplugs, no problem with noise. There are 2 rooms in this homestay. Toilet is located outside of the room,l which you are sharing with the other room, but honestly, works fine.
- Toby (8/5): Comfortable, Great value for money, Highly recommend - Massive room! Looks just like the photos! Super comfortable bed and a very central location. Great value for money and a cool balcony. Very helpful host too.
Thank you for having us :) The cockroaches in the hallways are massive.
On the first day we had someone try and open our room with another key which was very strange. We were told that it was the landlord checking if we had checked in - but surely you wouldn’t just try and enter the room? Strange.
- Wolfie (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, beautiful balcony, nicely decorated.
- Anonymous (9/5): Tucked away gem - This spot was tucked away down a little alley right in the middle of the old quarter, perfect location. It was a very easy self check in, we never even saw any staff. All communication was with Ly on WhatsApp and she was SO HELPFUL. Sending links to many good spots in town and always quick to respond. We even had a balcony overlooking the main street. Was a nice spot. If you need luggage storage this might not be the place since there’s no full time on hand staff. Also the bathroom is shared with one other room but that didn’t cause us any troubles. Would still stay here again!
- Karina (7/5): Good - Location is perfect, it was clean, pretty new and confi The entrance was scared, after a raining day lots of cockroaches at night on the way but in the room was ok, kitchen and bathroom it’s outside of the room
- Diana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tatiana (10/5): Exceptional - Good location, bed confortable, the owner was so kind Noisy but it’s normal because of its location
- Parth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elena (10/5): Wonderful - Amazing place in a wonderful location. Thank you! Recommended for solo travellers :)
- Mckinley-rooke (9/5): Superb -
- Saran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lesley (6/5): Hanoi stay - It was in a good location in the old quarter. Clean flat and comfortable bed. Shared bathroom but only two rooms so not as bad as I thought it would be. As other people have said access was down a narrow passage and up some very tight steps which is typical of the area. You have to go through the kitchen of a family living downstairs. It was also very noisy but I expect all of the old quarter is. If you want to experience the real Vietnam this is it but you may need ear plugs for night time. Lovely to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by.
- Amy (10/5): Comfy and homely - We had a really nice stay here! The bed was soo comfy and the balcony was fun to people watch. Fridge was nice to keep our drinks cold and there was even a tiny shared kitchen, so we could make some pot noodles!
The place was down a funky little alley behind a restaurant which was cool to see. Great location and easy to walk to everything in the old quarter. Host was really easy to communicate with on WhatsApp even though we never met! (self check in). No water refills available
Check out the hidden gem cafe and the Harry Potter cafe round the corner! Great value for money stay and I’d definitely recommend staying if you’re in Hanoi!
- Rob (8/5): Very good - Cute little Airbnb-style homestay in centre of old quarter. Owner gave us a big list of attractions and good food places (which hold up!) on WhatsApp and was very helpful and communicative.
- Eloise (8/5): Very good -
- Maddalena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dpw700 (7/5): Looks a bit grungy on the way in, but once you get to the rooms, quite comfortable. - Was a bit daunting entering the place. Dark entrance, narrow stairs, but the rooms and shared bathroom have just been recently refurbished so are are quite comfortable. Got a little balcony looking down to the main street. The weather wasn't great whilst I was there, but on a nice day sitting on the balcony having a few beers watching the street action would have been great. Needs a bit of work on the entrance, the initial hallway and the stairs. Its a bit dark and dingy. At the first landing on the stairs there's some unfinished timber work which was a bit off-putting. Just needs a lick of paint and some minor work on the timber work that was exposed and it would look good.
It was my first night in Vietnam and I had wondered what I had paid for until I got to the rooms which as stated above, were newly refurbished and quite comfortable. It was raining and there was a slow leak in the toilet/shower area. Just a slow drip every now and again.
- Daniel (9/5): Superb - shared bathroom
- Ngoc (10/5): Exceptional -
- Millie (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing little Homestay right in the centre of Hanoi! Lovely big room with a sofa and tv, comfy mattress and great balcony views. We loved our stay and will be back☺️
- Lisa (6/5): The room was nice but our overall experience was mixed. - We liked the location of the homestay. The inside of the room was nice, the bed was comfortable. Communication was good via WhatsApp, and we were responded to almost immediately always. We also booked an excursion to Ha Long Bay at a very reasonable price, we haven’t went yet, but looking forward to it. When we arrived and self-checked in for 2pm the room was left from the previous guests, and messy. We informed the owners on WhatsApp and they resolved the issue, informing us it was a busy day and there is only one cleaner. However, we were not able to get into the room before 6pm (and had taken the night bus the day prior arriving at 4:30am so this was very inconvenient). We were able to drop our bags. When it rained, the washroom leaked from the ceiling and dripped on us while using the facilities. The bathroom was shared and was not cleaned before our stay, and went days without being cleaned (used toilet paper in the garbage and the garbage was overflowing). We were discounted 100,000 for the check-in inconvenience.
- Rebecca (7/5): Good - Great homestay to stay at. The room was really comfortable and facilities were fine. Great value for money for being in the centre of the old town. Really helpful staff too via WhatsApp who helped us with storing some luggage. The homestay is well located in the old town and it's great to see the hustle and bustle however music and noise from nearby venues really travelled into the homestay into the early hours.. It could have been a one off but brng some earplugs just in case.
- Lena (10/5): I loved my stay at Amelié Homestay - I had a great time at Amelié Homestay. The room is huge, has access to a balcony overlooking the bustling street, has great storage space, a fridge, AC and a huge comfy bed. The location is great as well, walking distance to cafes and restaurants and even the bus I took from there to Cat Ba Island was just a 3 minutes walk away.
The bathroom doesn't have a separate walk in shower, you kind of just shower in the in the middle of the bathroom, which I didn't mind.
Staff was incredibly friendly and very helpful!
All and all I totally recommend Amelié Homestay!
- Noam (6/5): Not very clean. Unhelpful staff. - Good location. Large room. Quite dirty. We saw a rat under the staircase leading up to the room. Kitchen and bathroom were not cleaned (or maybe poorly cleaned?) during our 4-night stay.
Communication with the staff was bad. We had a self check-in but two seperate people were messaging me simultaneously with instructions and requests. Also, we came prepared to pay in cash (this is the only payment method listed on booking.com) but we were asked to pay via a link that included a 3% service charge (even though the quoted price on booking.com "includes all taxes and fees). When we pushed back on this the staff tried to convince us that it's no big deal and we should just pay it because "it is just a small fee". This whole dialogue continued past our checkout due to poor responsiveness by the staff, and in the end we had to come the entire way back to the property to pay with cash after all.
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yotam (8/5): Very good -
- Jen (8/5): Great location, easy check in - Location was amazing, the room was really spacious, clean and comfortable. The tree decor was a lovely touch! Check in was really easy! Would recommend staying here! Great value for money! Nothing to complain about, just a heads up to other guests -
The room could get noisy at night, however we knew this when booking so I'd just suggest bringing some earplugs!
The bathroom sink is connected to the shower so don't make the same mistake I did by turning on the shower instead of the sink and getting soaked!
- Dario (5/5): Passable - Room was clean and quite ok, communication with staff perfect. Position very good too If you wanna party and go to sleep late this is perfect but if you wanna sleep at "regular" hours there is a lot of noise coming from bars nearby
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location and really nice room. Can get a little loud, but I guess that's the price of being soo central. Didn't bother us too much.
- Megan (10/5): Spacious home away from home - Really well equipped for my week stay - huge room with desks and two chairs, which was great for me as I was working, larhe and comfortable bed with excellent bedding, balcony to watch the buzz, fridge, kettle, microwave outside, large wardrobe, TV, fan and Aircon
Good WiFi - cut out twice for about 20mins but my Viettel SIM was perfect back up so didn't effect Zoom calls
Location is extremely central in Old Quarter and walking distance to most other destinations of note
Super helpful staff on hand seemingly 24/7 for my queries and got me great prices for day tours
Brilliant value compared to other do met paying over double for dingy places
Let me leave my bag after check in I loved it all! Things to note are that it is in a very busy and noisy area of Hanoi, the bed is away from the windows but of course it's still a little noisy. I slept fine but if you're a light sleeper bring ear plugs. The alley way you walk through is small and a little shabby but that's of no consequence to the room and I quite enjoyed it adding to the authentic homestay vibes! The bathroom was perfect, just noting that the shower is on a wall next to sink which I wasn't used to but have since learned is typical of Hanoi
- Marko (10/5): Exceptional - Amelie really puts effort to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Great location, and great view from the balcony. There is fridge in the room, AC. Basically everything you need. My recomendation for Amelie homestay.
- Lockett (10/5): Exceptional - comfortable!! nothing!!
- Na.redo (9/5): Superb - The room is well located by hearing almost no noises it is really very clean air-conditioned they also provide champion, shower gel, towels in addition to the view from the balcony I highly recommend Nothing
- Perez (10/5): Exceptional - very good ! i like it nothing
- Smithlin (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and pretty room! And good price too. Can't deny that i love it ^^ I love all! So satisfied!
- Zalim (10/5): Exceptional - good like noo
- Butch (10/5): Exceptional - hospitality!! nothing!!!!!
- T. (8/5): Mixed feelings, great staff & room, horrible bathroom - Room was exceptionally clean. Location is great. Stella (the staff who took care of us) has such a vibrant personality, and she was very attentive on Whatsapp with excellent English. Room is spacious and very beautifully decorated. Things in the room like TV and AC work as they should. Adequate soundproofing, considering it is on a busy street. Also Stella was very helpful when we were considering Ha long bay cruises, and prices she offered were quite competitive. We changed our plans and couldn't go on the cruise but still she was quite amazing trying to plan it. The bathroom is shared between only two rooms so if you book both of them, the bathroom will be yours. The shared bathroom is tiny, stuffy, moldy, has no ventilation and the ceiling was constantly leaking on our heads. Taking a shower didnt make us feel any cleaner. Also the room itself started leaking from the light bulbs when it rained. We woke up to a semi flooded room in the middle of the night.
- Tara (9/5): Amazing and great value! - Amazing location and room with comfy bed and space to unpack, and a balcony overlooking the busy street. Towels, soap, and shower sandals provided. Ac works very well and blanket is cozy :) Host is SO nice, everything was over WhatsApp but helped with everything I needed to book, I extended my stay twice! No water refill option, but it had a fridge to keep my bottles cold so it was okay
- Karina (9/5): Superb - Smooth and efficient check-in process, all straight forward. One of the best experiences in my travels this year was going on the Ha Giang loop tour and everything's been organized c/o Stella. I also had last minute requests which she was able to sort out particularly about leaving my luggages when I went to Ha Giang. The room was spacious and bed was comfortable; conveniently located in Old Quarter. Small stairs leading up to the room, not ideal for when you have heavy luggages like myself. I suggested about possibly using codes instead of keys so neighbors/non-guests won't be able to access but no major issues.
- Diana (10/5): crazy homestay - It's crazy in an interesting way, come and feel it. Helpful and enthusiastic staff. Across the street is Hanoi's Old Quarter, very convenient. On the first floor is not the reception desk, but the place that sells tofu. They also rent here.
- Idumea (10/5): Old quarter center - A small room located in the center of Hanoi's Old Quarter, the room is on the 2nd floor, the entrance is small, it will be difficult if you have a lot of luggage but I like the balcony. Looking straight down at the bustling, bustling pedestrian street in the evening Young people will like this place more than the elderly because the noise on the street makes it harder for them to sleep and problems moving luggage. Everything is clean, the homeowner did a good job in soundproofing
- Tarun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tracy (10/5): Good location - You wonderful staff. I booked a tour to Cao Bang, exploring Ban Doc waterfall and tiger cave. Perfect trip, memorable vacation. Recommend The bathroom is located outside, shared with only 1 other room so not much of a problem
- Dale (10/5): Great balcony - I love Amelie's balcony, it has a view straight down to the old town. The staff advised me to buy beer and enjoy it on this balcony. I did that all the time The stairs going up to the house are a bit small, the staff replied that this is a characteristic of Hanoi's Old Quarter. It is a reasonable explanation. I talked to Stella, the land price here is extremely expensive, OMG.
- Neil (9/5): Superb - Lovely large rooms, in an ideal location. Balcony is a bonus for watching the world go by. There are only 2 rooms so ideal if you can get both and then the shared bathroom is a non-issue. Remote checkin worked well. It is next to a Mad Monkey so if you're looking for an early night then it's not ideal! But their curfew is at 12 which they stick to.
- Ernestine (10/5): Located in the heart of Hanoi Old Quarter - Walls and glass are well insulated Nothing, Many people feel uncomfortable with shared bathrooms but they are ok for me, I don't expect anything more because the homestay has a balcony and is worth the money.
- Dwain (10/5): Nice homestay with balcony. I love it - I got drunk drinking beer on the balcony, overlooking the old quarter Share bathroom
- Kathryn (10/5): Lovely room in great location - The room was so spacious, clean and in the best location in the Old Quarter! The self check in was super easy and although we didn’t actually meet the staff, they were so friendly over WhatsApp and booked us a really good priced bus to Cat Ba. Would definitely stay again!
- Paulina (8/5): Very good -
- Rudi (8/5): Very good -
- Jacqueline (8/5): Clean and good bed at top location - The room was fantastic. You do not see the owner but all is arranged via what’s app where you get the code to open the locker for the room. Bathroom is separate and small but okay for a couple of nights. Location is perfect for going out as well for just walking around Hanoi. Food is available everywhere.
- Joanne (10/5): Hanoi Old Quarter is wonderful - Explore Hanoi by booking a room in its center, which is the best way for newbies. Lots of services and amenities around. Beautiful rooms decorated with unique drawings, everything is clean and has all the necessary amenities. You will always be taken care of by staff whenever you need it. All information is exchanged via whatsapp Busy outside all day, the room's soundproofing is quite good. For those who are sensitive to sound, it's a shame. The stairs going up to the room are a bit small. The receptionist said it was a typical feature of Hanoi's old quarter, very interesting
- Allen (10/5): Great holiday - Cozy room, nice balcony, comfortable bed, good soundproofing. Hanoi's ancient house specialties. Enthusiastic staff, clean room. The stairs to the room are a bit small, large and heavy luggage is difficult to transport to the room. But it's okay, the room is on the first floor so it's not a big problem. Share bathroom
- White (10/5): Culture of Vietnam - I like it here, right in the heart of the old town, there are many unique cultural features that you will discover. The street is noisy almost all day and night. But I really like Hanoi at night, with many services
- Luis (10/5): Fantastic balcony - drunk and nice sleep ... yeah nothing
- Maas (10/5): Happy New Year - I felt the new year in Hanoi's Old Quarter from the balcony of the homestay. Everything is like a picture. How wonderful. You should come here and see everything from this balcony. Quite deserted and quiet on the first days of the new year here. But after a few days, the services returned
- Deanna (9/5): Good - In the heart of Hanoi Old Quarter, bustling all day, you can find everything for yourself here, discover culture and local dishes, value for money Good soundproofing from the busy outside
- Karen (7/5): Good value, good location and clean - I was able to contact the host on WhatsApp before my arrival, he arranged for me to be picked up at the airport. He responded promptly to my queries. He supplied a SIM card for a reasonable cost.
The room was a good size with a shared bathroom.
There was a balcony and fortunately the glass doors to the balcony were double glazed so buffered the noise from outside.
Great location and clean The room was a bit tricky to find and when I arrived I was a bit confused as to how to get into my room as the host forgot to message me the information about self-check-in. However shortly after I arrived he turned up and was very helpful.
The bathroom was on the small side
The door to the bedroom has frosted glass and light, when on, from outside, shone into the room.
There was a balcony and fortunately the glass doors to the balcony were double glazed so buffered the endless noise from outside.
- Tynisha (10/5): Perfect for what I was after - Perfect location & very cosy. Very good communication from the host, happy & attentive with answering any questions I had
- Iulian (9/5): Superb - The location is top,. The room is cozy and the bed is comfortable. The fact that the bathroom is shared with another room, but it's doable if you're not picky!
- Jeff (9/5): Amazing location right in the heart of the Old Quarter. - Great location right in the middle of the Old Quarter. Fabulous balcony where you can watch the never ending parade of local street culture. Comfy, spacious room. A great experience surrounded by the 24/7 bars, restaurants, nightlife. A little noisy at times but shutting the door was enough to block it out. Kitchen was a cupboard and unuseable as only 1 small saucepan available! Share bathroom a bit annoying & exposed.
- Cong (10/5): beauty room - If you like the busy streets and late-night parties with friends, this is heaven. It is located among the old streets of Hanoi. You can just get drunk, because your bedroom is right around the corner
- Conrad (6/5): Pleasant - Narrow corridors, wall paint rubbed off on clothes
- Jeffrey (10/5): Exceptional - The room was hand-painted by artists in many colors. I guess it's to hide the shortcomings of the houses in Hanoi's Old Quarter. It's ingenious and interesting. I really like the balcony here. At night you can observe everything The entrance is small but the staff told me that is typical of Hanoi's Old Quarter.
- Alan (10/5): Best place - Great location You won't need to meet the staff until you pay, you can leave money in the room or pay by card
- Clayton (9/5): Party by night - The walls are beautifully painted, there is a balcony, the room is well soundproofed even though it is busy day and night General cleaning for 2 rooms, but that's okay.
