Guest Reviews
- Anita (8/5): We all enjoyed our family break to celebrate a milestone birthday - A lovely cottage in a stunning location with Llamas in the field opposite. It was warm and cosy even though unable to use log burner.
Caroline was very a good host and communicated with us brilliantly.
The cottage was clean and comfortable.
Wellies tea room is worth a visit a 3 minute drive away. The upstairs carpet was very worn and needs replacing. Also first bathroom shower pressure is poor, en-suite bathroom was perfect.
- Paul (5/5): Disappointing and badly prepared - Spacious and clean, comfortable beds Kitchen had watered down washing up liquid, no dish washer tablets, no cloths or scourers and no bin liners. Outside bins were full to overflowing. Poor info on where to park. WiFi around 1 Mbps. Bedrooms short of mirrors, bins and power sockets.
- Fiona (1/5): Awful - avoid at all costs - Good location Do not stay here. We had a terrible stay and left early. I sent all these issues to the owners to give them a chance to respond first, and received no reply.
1. Mosquito infestation. My daughter is on antibitotics and steroids from an awful mosquito infestation in the cottage. My family had a terrible night and everyone got bitten a lot. They are most likely coming from the pond in the garden. For this reason only I would avoid the cottage at all costs.
2. Cleanliness. The cottage was not clean. I hoovered up dead flies on arriving
3. Fire safety. The cottage does not comply with fire safety regulations. There needs to be a smoke alarm in every room. Firefighters shouldn’t be left next to the fire
4. Electrics. Everything in the kitchen fused when using the washing machine. Including the fridge and the freezer.
5. Kitchen equipment. The kitchen was wet poorly equipped. Eg no wooden spoons, no serving spoons, no salt and pepper, no serving dishes.
- carolyn (10/5): Brilliant! A charming property providing comfort, character and a taste of country living! - A delightful property with lovely countryside views, and Llamas! The cottage is charming. It has been beautifully refurbished retaining its character while also providing modern conveniences to ensure a comfortable stay. It was light airy and spacious but with a cosy feel which suited three generations perfectly! It is conveniently located for trips to the seaside, places of interest and pretty villages often with pubs serving excellent food! Nothing to report, as we loved it all!
- Jill (9/5): Great! - Great family garden and very cute, unique property! Nothing! ALL the mugs in cupboards were filthy and not even rinsed with coffee stains. A hand wash from us cleaned them so just warn the owners of this so cleaners are aware!
- Michael (10/5): - Lovely location, with ample room and a lovely garden to socialise. Road out front was a little busy at times. Thankfully no kids or pets to worry about.
- Ian (8/5): Great location for three generations of family to enjoy a weekend in the beautiful South Downs - The property was in a great location for us to attend a wedding at the Weald and Downland museum and would work equally well for Chichester, events at Goodwood, or just exploring the beautiful South Downs. The cottage has lots of character, including a lovely secluded garden, and the layout was perfect for a family weekend, with three generations of guests (although older people may need to take care on the old cottage stairs). The bathrooms and electrics have obviously been recently upgraded and the showers were all nice and powerful. The property has parking for 2 cars, which was easy to locate and adjacent to the property. The Sky satellite signal didn't seem to be working and the internet into the property seemed very slow (under 2MB/s, despite rebooting), which irritated the teenagers in the party, but wasn't a great problem for a short weekend. The kitchen could have done with a few more facilities, such as a few tablets for the dishwasher and the cracked cafetiere mentioned in a previous post hasn't been replaced. Addressing these issues would be relatively simple and upgrade the overall experiecne to a 9 or 10!
- Jacqueline (9/5): Wonderful secluded cottage, perfect for our short family stay. -
- Gulwan (10/5): Exceptional - The location is perfect, so peaceful and quiet. The garden was lovely. There was a group of 8 staying here with 4 dogs and there was plenty of room for everyone! We had a great time
- Georgia (10/5): Gorgeous retreat, perfect for relaxing and spending time as a group. -
- Jill (9/5): Cosy, comfy and stylish accommodation that has plenty of room - we had a party of 7 adults and it was perfect - Beautiful location, the house is really lovely. Highlights are the big kitchen, gorgeous living room with long burner and crisp white bedding on comfy beds. Very good communication from the lender too. The garden looked lovely but we didn’t use it due to snow. It was difficult to use the digital controls on the radiators and I couldn’t find any instructions. However the cottage was warm when we arrived in the evening and we lit the log burner in the morning.
- Olivia (7/5): Pleasant clean and warm property in a beautiful location but needs equipment and facilities review. - Beautiful location close to nature reserve walking distance from the property. Easy drive to Chichester and beach/ harbours. Very clean and warm; it was a real treat that logs were provided too!
We had a water leak on arrival and the owners were quick to rectify the situation and kindly delivered some champagne to make amends, thank you.
We would love to come back if slightly better equipped and facilities reviewed (see below). These things are easily rectifiable:
The kitchen is minimally equipped with limited serving dishes and only 1 baking tray which we found a challenge when trying to cater for a large family meal.
The cafetière is cracked (found in under-stairs cupboard) so we made coffee in a saucepan.
The dishwasher needs a service as it doesn't wash properly (we tried multiple settings and multiple washes but resulted to washing up by hand as the silt residues and dirt coated everything (we cleaned the filter first).
The loo seat in the large bathroom is broken and slips off when sitting on it so needs mending.
The shower in the large bathroom was unfortunately out of action due to the leak.
There was no safety glove provided for opening/ closing the woodburner in the living room which gets quite hot.
- S (8/5): A huge house, very comfortable, lovely open fire and beautiful setting. - Lovely cottage in a beautiful place. Peace and quiet … mountains of room and pretty garden. The bedrooms were large, very clean and comfortable. The only tiny quibble was we couldn’t find a cafetière to make coffee…but that was a very minor thing in a very nice house. Nothing else was an issue at all.
- William (8/5): Very good -
- Stuart (9/5): Very comfortable, well maintained and clean. we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. - It was in a quiet location with a lovely outlook and the garden was kept beautifully. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable and clean and the living area very suitable for us all to gather and relax in. It is in quite a remote area and we only founds shops and local pubs that we would have had to drive to but our stay was for a family wedding for a couple of days and this didn't affect us for a short stay.
We found a couple of things to mention in that there wasn't a microwave in the property, not enough tables mats and lacking mirrors in the bedrooms, but very minor points to mention.
- Noel (10/5): Overall a incredibly nice place to stay and plenty of parking which was very handy with us being a group of car enthusia - Very clean and well presented, the views and location were stunning! Overall an incredibly nice place to stay!
- Nick (9/5): Beautiful cottage in a great location - Wonderful cottage in a great location and spotlessly clean Nothing
- David (10/5): Great place. - We liked everything! Clean and comfortable with real character. Perfect place to get to Goodwood Motor Circuit. No bedside lamps and my elderly father struggled with the steep stairs.
- Jo (10/5): Wonderful, relaxed break with family and friends in beautiful surroundings. - Location, furnishings, garden, house in general was amazing. Nothing.
- Zoe (6/5): We had a pleasant stay but with a little more care it could be exceptional - Loved the location. The beds were comfortable and spacious and linen and towels good quality. Very easy to get to Chichester but also felt remote enough to be relaxing. Good size dining room which worked well for family meals and games . Liked the open fire. Well kitted out in terms of crockery, cutlery, games etc Some rooms weren’t all that clean. Lots of dead flies in window sills and inside drawers on the upper floor. Bathrooms not that clean either
The oven writing has worn off so it’s basically unusable as you have to guess the function and temperature. After a morning of burnt pastries for breakfast, we ate out the rest of the time.
We booked primarily because of the secure garden for the dogs and it turned out there was a gap under the gate high enough for our dogs to get under, some holes in the fence and also two ponds. This was manageable on lead as it’s winter but would have been frustrating in the summer if we wanted to sit outside
- Javier (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful cottage in South London. Newly renovated and everything was nice and clean.
Could not be better. We had a great time
