If you want sleek, slick, and modern then this is not the place for you. However, if you want the BEST location in Sawtell right on the estuary’s mouth, the last residential property before the headland in a character filled original old-skool cottage then we highly recommend staying here.
Lobster Cottage is cosy, spacious, comfortable, well appointed, and convenient to all points of interest in Sawtell and surrounds – cafes, restaurants, bars and boutiques abound - all a leisurely 5–10-minute walk from the house.
The river beach at your back door offers safe swimming and wading, and watching the tide ebb and flow from the deck was our constant entertainment - at low tide you can practically walk across the creek to the national park reserve. A short walk up and over the headland leads you onto the spectacular Sawtell surf beach. Breakfast at the surf club at least once is a must where the food and coffee are excellent. Getting around is easy without a car, as buses run frequently on major routes, and taxis are readily available throughout the day and evening.
The view never gets old.
The property managers were accommodating of our special requests, and communication was excellent. The cottage is maintained to a hygienic standard, with cleanliness clearly being a priority for the housekeeping team. However, as is often the case with older homes, additional care and periodic "micro" maintenance are essential to preserve their unique character and ensure ongoing comfort. In particular, the floorboards and other surfaces would benefit from a more thorough refresh that goes beyond the regular cleaning routine currently in place. Implementing a periodic "Spring clean" would address most concerns and is especially warranted given the high cleaning fee associated with the property.
Introducing an area rug around the sofa would create a cosier atmosphere and help to visually anchor the living area, making it feel more inviting and comfortable.

- Clare (6/5): Location excellent - Location excellent and everything we needed on hand for a comfortable stay. The house needs some work to be used as rental accomodation- rained three days that we were there and roof leaked badly in 2 bedrooms resulting in wet suitcases and floors
Also we mopped the floor on leaving and the house, spare blankets and couches could use a deep clean.
