Guest Reviews
- Eva (8/5): - Room was very nice, clean and spacious Room was not equipped to make a tea or coffee...which was possible everywhere else. I cannot recommend to have dinner there, quality is not fantastic, it is overpriced and served in paper containers.
- Brice (8/5): -
- Regiane Marques (10/5): Ótima - Tudo Nada
- BEVERLEY (10/5): Perfect - Beautiful views, lovely hot tub experience
- Aryanne (10/5): -
- Briony (9/5): -
- Eleftherios (9/5): Great and as described -
- Wilson (10/5): -
- Kyle (10/5): Great, would stay again - Location No robes for jacuzzi
- Adil (9/5): -
- Nicole (10/5): -
- Georgia (9/5): - The room was very spacious that was a pig advantage. They provided many bathroom supplies (even hair conditioner which is something I haven't seen a lot). The staff was extremely helpful to anything we needed as well! I would definitely recommend.
Also the food truck was very close when needed, the food was fantastic!! We don't have anything negative to report really. We only stayed for a day, so we didn't get to experience much of the activities around, so we can't review that part. The only thing to have in mind, is that if you want to use the hot tub you can book a room with one included, other wise you will have to book your time slot in the common used one. So if you want to use it at a specific timing, be aware to book in advance.
- Headteacher (8/5): Comfortable place to sleep - Spacious room.
Comfortable bed.
Excellent shower and bathroom.
Coffee machine and mini fridge. Lack of proper eating facilities on-site.
Comfortable chair in room would have been a bonus as there was space.
- Emma (10/5): -
- Eaton (6/5): - Location. Room not serviced
Lack of tea bags on arrival
Light above bathroom mirror and bathroom fan not working
Room poorly light
Pot holes on drive in could be fixed.
- Jean Gali (10/5): -
- Mueen (10/5): -
- Veronika (4/5): Happy to leave. - The walk up onto the highlands behind the golf course. New building, still smelled of paint and such. Hot tub not set up. Noisy. Could hear every move of people who rented the room above us.
- Christine (8/5): Overall very nice. - Large spacious clean room. Nice grounds and nice helpful friendly staff. Our suggestions included a need for improved lighting especially in the closet section (which was quite large and contained the coffee setup. More hooks to hang towels in the bathroom; a table and chairs; a second luggage stand; wall decorations. Mostly though, the hot tub would not get hotter than 37 degrees Celsius which is about body temperature and not satisfying.
- Sally (8/5): Lovely and relaxing setting with a nice large room. - The room was very spacious and the landscape and walking trails lovely. Decor was minimalist. We aren't golfers so we did not take advantage of the golfing activities. Food truck has minimal choices and restaurant options lacking.
- Danielle (10/5): - Huge room in a house on a beautiful estate. Nespesso coffee machine was a nice touch. Would definitely return.
- Naomi (10/5): We were on a very strict budget for our holiday and this property exceed expectations. - We had an ensuite room in a house where the other rooms were also let out to other guests. There was a delicious food truck at the main reception serving local seafood and a well stocked honesty bar. The views from the room were gorgeous and the hot tub was a great bonus after long walks around the area. We also made use of the electric bike hire to explore the Caledonian way and had a lovely day.
- MEHR (5/5): - Clean No insulation for noise. You could hear the people above coughing and moving and talking all night. The floor was making sounds o. Every step. No hair drier. Had to go to bed with wet hair. No water or small welcome snack. Not a good value for the price.
- Aneesh (9/5): - Straightforward and smooth check in. The friendly staff at the reception and bar and the food truck nearby were the highlights!!
- Nyjide (10/5): Nig and bb touring Scotland. - Warm welcome. Very friendly owner, just wanted to make sure we had a great time. Loved the location, the views are amazing and the studio apartment was big and had everything. Super clean and well kept. The guys are professional and paid attention to the details. Can't think of a single thing we didn't like.
- Anne (10/5): -
- Ryan (10/5): - We liked the location of the woodlands it is in a beautiful location beautiful place room was perfect staff were amazing We did like that there wasn’t enough lights going up to the house so if u wanted to walk from the reception to woodland house it was really dark and couldn’t really see more lights round about would have been better
- Urquhart (8/5): - The bedroom was large, clean and comfortable. Friendly staff.
- Shelley (8/5): Lovely spot and would return but felt misled on some things - The bed is maybe one of the comfiest I've slept in. The estate is beautiful and the tea and coffee facilities tucked into the cupboard with the fridge was brilliant. High quality toiletries and an amazing location. Staff were also lovely and attentive. Being in the hot tub under the stars was incredible I felt it was odd that my room was next to a massage room and across from an office. Especially with me having a dog. Also the food truck was closed for November but I didn't find out until I got there and there's no way to prepare food on site. The food truck had formed part of my decision to book so this was disappointing and I feel should have been noted somewhere pre booking. Next, it says the room comes with hot tub but that's not strictly true. It comes with access to a hot tub as you need to book and you need to leave and walk around the building to get to it. Saying room with hot tub leads to an impression that you have exclusive access and that it is possibly accessible via your room. So I was also a bit disappointed by that. Even though all in all it was still good value for money and I didn't even use my entire hot tub slot due to having the dog. Tho at one point people walked around and saw me just chilling in the hot tub 🙈
- Turner (10/5): -
- Michelle (6/5): - Lovely quiet and peaceful
- arnold (8/5): 9/10 would have been 10 only for water pressure - Clean and tidy, excellent decor / fixtures and fittings Water pressure in shower. Possibly need to fit a power pump to incoming supply / monsoon pumps are great
- Michael (7/5): -
- Benedetta (9/5): Molto rilassante - Abbiamo alloggiato a woodland house.
- MEHMET FAZIL (3/5): Avoid, it's cold - warmer places exist - Location is not bad It was freezing in Woodlands 5. We asked several times for the heater to stay on, but they kept turning it off at night “for economy,” even though it was snowing outside. We barely slept, had to call them in the middle of the night to switch it back on, and it was still not enough — so we decided not to stay another night.
- James (8/5): - Everything but hot tub needs a decent paved area with shelter over it and light outside Hot tub no lights outside and needs paved around hottub with shelter
- Patricia (6/5): Used for a stop over to get to Further into Scotland - Location good Bed dipped towards middle
Show leaked
- Kirk (10/5): -
- Neil (4/5): We understand our stay wasn’t down to staff and management but problems caused by a storm - Beds comfortable
Bathroom modern Because of the storm no hot water, heating and lighting
- Steve (5/5): Expensive room for what we received - The location was fine close to Glencoe. Also the food truck was nice, good food and a cosy room with bar to eat your ordered food There was no heating in the room. We made the remark at the reception any we were told somebody would have a look but spend the whole night and morning without heating. Not nice if you want to dry your wet clothes. Also noise heard from the rooms next door and above.
- Ian (4/5): Potential but the owners don’t have a clue - Nice grounds (if you book the right apartment!)
Staff were friendly and sorted a problem
Shorty walk from some excellent walks up the dragons tooth etc Wow so if you are reading this and are going to book the woodlands house with hot tub, DO NOT DO IT
To the owners - for god sake take this property off the ability to book!!
I booked this room with en-suite expecting a self contained room in a block with 1-3 other rooms
What we got was indeed a clean room with en-suite but what they don’t tell you is it’s upstairs in a building that’s 70% used as an office and staff accommodation!
We checked in and the place was generally nice, where we got to the building there were various gentlemen in fleeces hanging around the building , particularly at the front, there were what looked likes golfers also half in the property with these guys, when we opened the door your greeted with a series or doors that say ‘private’
One is an office full go guys in polos and fleeces working and the others are staff permanent accommodation, when we go to the room we could hear all the business guys lauginh and joking and below us the staff who clearly live there laughing shouting etc , slamming drawers and well just living.
And the hot-tub pfft is this a joke! It’s just whacked on the side of the house which means you have to go around the business and the private accommodation to get to it and there’s also no cover or privacy when you’re at it so anybody could be walking past and see you in it, for me and my wife it was just completely unusable or even the idea of it being that you just have someone walk up on you from the business or otherwise, and I know the owners will say well. You could use it after 5 pm when the business goes home, but that’s just not what a leisure guest wants to hear or do.
This accommodation was called Woodlands house.
- David (4/5): A complete mixture of good and bad. - Hardly a restaurant....it was a food truck. However, the cook and food was very good. Having a radiator that didn't turn off after 6.30pm.....and a toilet which took more than an hour to refill to be able to flush again.
This was also borne out of a low water pressure as both the water feed to basin taps and shower was low.
The hard floor everywhere and lack of soundproofing means nosies all the time from elsewhere.
- Kamryn (10/5): Quick one night stay so we could go hiking next day, with wonderful accommodations! - Check in was super easy and staff was very nice. Breakfast sandwiches and coffee were amazing as well as the guy running the food. We had a maintenance issue with one of the rooms and Dan came out real quick and got us taken care of.
Not to mention the hot tub was just what we needed and the beds were by far the most comfy we’ve had our whole trip. Would stay again! Honestly we were only there one night but we didn't have any complaints!!
- James (9/5): Excellent - would come again - Very friendly welcome, good evening meal from the food truck. Room was superb - clean, warm comfortable. Good kettle, coffee machine and fridge with fresh milk provided Nothing. We knew we would leave before breakfast so brought our own
- Trudy (7/5): - The room was spacious and had everything you need. Staff were friendly and helpful. Mountain view room wasn't what we expected and paid for, you couldn't really see the mountain. Room overlooked woodland more than mountains. Also construction work going on outside. Blind needed in bathroom window, shower wasn't very powerful and soundproofing needed as the noise from the people in the room above walking around was really loud which spoilt the serenity of what we would have expected in such a quiet area and the cost of the room.
- victoria (8/5): Expérience correcte ! - Le personnel, la vue de la chambre, le foodtruck disponible pour les repas.
La possibilité des massages en add Verres, tasses et couverts à disposition dans la chambre sales.
- M (9/5): -
- Weaver (9/5): Excellent stay. Really enjoyed it Will return. - Incredibly comfortable mattress! Would have liked a small table and extra chair in the room.
- Robert (3/5): Classic miss selling! - The location is good.
There are fabulous shepherds huts by the river with private jacuzzis.
Staff friendly.
The massage was great. Just what I needed after a week's hiking. Masseuse was very nice and professional.
Having a jacuzzi.
Lovely freshly decorated room.
The food van onsite.
Good activities to choose from.
Hotel with bar and food short walk away. Woodlands house is so disjointed it left me discombobulated! It's a house standing on its own that is used as an office block and staff sleeping quarters. You walk in feeling like you're in the wrong place. Nothing inside to say where you are just lots of doors with 'private' written on them, some with numbers. This is where you have a massage too, with again nothing to guide you to the right door. I had to ask someone from an office where I go. There is a seat outside the number 5 room (a treatment waiting area I guess) which turned out to be my room. On the ground floor with no views to impress. Not what I would call a garden view. Plus had tiled flooring not carpet as described.
Jacuzzi.. I was furious about this, I don't know if it's booking.com or the resort, but the description does NOT say anything about it being a shared one that you must book a slot online to use. This I strongly feel is miss selling! I found this out just after I booked. I asked if I could cancel on that basis of it not being what I believed it to be.. a room with its own jacuzzi. I was denied this so went reluctantly. Not a great start to something I'd treated myself to for my birthday!
Luckily no one else had booked it out so I could enjoy a relaxing time in it which for me was why I chose this place. But! To get to the damn thing i had to on exiting my room walk past the treatment waiting area, go outside onto gravel in the robe and slippers provided which was painful on my feet, walk past the main office being watched by staff, going around the back of the house. Not ideal is it?!! To add further embarrassment I couldn't get back into my room (4 digit code needed but instructions don't say you need to press C before numbers) so had to knock on an office door for help.
Finally the cost.. before my discount being a member with booking.com this room was £211 per night. I expected something a LOT better and finer experience for that money!
- Aimee (8/5): - The shower was exceptionally fantastic, we loved that we were able to use the pool for free at another hotel. Surrounding area is fabulous and a great starting point for exploring Glencoe/Fort Williams. They give you a lovely leaflet and map of the area which was very helpful. We paid for a mountaim view room however the view is quite obstructed. There was no door on the shower so the floor got very wet in the bathroom. Floor above us was quite creaky and you could hear the movement of everyone around you. Room was quite bare and echoey.
- Likith (8/5): -
- Erwan (9/5): -
- Yi (9/5): -
- sabrina (4/5): - Position, room size, bath with a window and high level bath products, high coffee quality Not so clean
Too expensive compared to the service and the building features
We booked the hot tube included in the room price choosing from the timetable proposed by Booking but, since It was after checkout, they didn't let us into
I will never book here again mainly because very expensive and not so confortable
- João (6/5): Meh... - Pleasant room, nicely renovated. Comfy bed, shower was fine. Areas in general are quite nice to wander about. Food truck had decent food even though they seemed to run out of food before the closing time, which would have been a massive problem for us on a sunday. Eventually, they were able to fix us something. Luxury add ons are: extra bed 25£
Early check in (from 3pm) 15£
Late check out (until 11 am) 15£
For whoever stayed in many hotels before, nothing more needs to be said.
Quite dirty under the bed (pics attached), which is frankly appalling when you charge 300£ a night. Old receipts from other customers there, too. No view whatsoever. Check-in had to be done in reception (far) when it has a PIN code for accessing the room? Why? We were in the building and trying the PIN that was provided to us by booking.com in every room as we didn't get our room number on the booking confirmation (why?). Turns out the PIN was wrong, so we had to call reception for them to tell us the real PIN and our room number
. Not the best!
- Bathiya (8/5): -
- Marcel (10/5): Top - Seh ruhige Lage Leider ohne Frühstück, aber hat einen Foodtruck auf Platz
- Joseph (10/5): -
- Keng Tee (6/5): -
- Majella (8/5): Very good -
- Hazel (8/5): Friendly staff, great location and lovely hotel to relax and see many main attractions in the Highlands - Great location and a wide range of facilities and activities for all the family. Also being able to use the pool of the nearby hotel. All good - if anything I would widen the choice for breakfast eg expand offer to include cereal, juice etc
- Geoffrey (7/5): Good -
- Chelsea (7/5): Good -
- Kirstin (8/5): Needed it adhoc was a lively surprise & staff was super friendly & helpful - Very clean & spacious rooms Shame you had to pay for the hot tub
- Julia (10/5): Beautiful relaxing stay in Gleancoe - Beautiful spacious and comfortable room, great coffee/tea corner. Views from the window were breathtaking and the location was perfect (if you have a car). There is a food truck next to the reception with delicious menu. We enjoyed a relaxing weekend in the area as a result. Nothing to note.
- Jordy (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful views and location, stunning room, my other half loved it, put me in the good books for a good while 😃
- Cari (9/5): Quiet Haven - The room, bed and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful and made for an easy private stroll. Everyone was friendly and the food truck was delicious! All in all a welcome haven on our first night in town after 20+ hours of travel. Wish we had stayed longer! The hot tub area was nice but no where to stash robes and towels during the rain.
- Govindan (5/5): Very good environment and generally good service. - The environment was good - the lush greenery, There was a small 9-hole golf course within the property.
Most of the people were pleasant and helpful.
The gentleman who runs the food truck, Jim was outstanding in service orientation. He added much to our staying pleasure both in the food he prepared and in the conversations we had with him. There was a lady (Lauren?) at the reception when we reached there who was more interested in looking at her handphone than listening to us. Did not offer much help when asked how we could spent out time as we had reached there very early. She was very adamant that the check-in was at 4 pm. She could improve in her service orientation.
- Joanne (8/5): Beautiful stay for scenery - The room spacious and outlook and grounds outstanding We booked. Twin and one bed was a double the other a rollaway
We are older travellers and for the size of the room I feel a second single bed could be part of the furniture .
- Cori (10/5): Exceptional - We loved our stay here! It was such a quiet property, and the rooms are spacious and beautiful!
- Jem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shona0909 (9/5): Woodlands House Ballachullish - The room was amazing with views to die for. No restaurant facilities were available which we knew but there is a plethora of local hotels that catered for us. The food cart morning rolls were very tasty and the cook was definitely on the ball.
- Chantelle (10/5): Wonderful, peaceful and had everything we needed. Will stay again when back near Glencoe. - The estate where the property is located is beautiful! The property itself was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The staff were lovely throughout our stay and the facilities were great. Wonderful location. Overall a very peaceful/enjoyable stay. Nothing, everything was spot on.
- James (7/5): Good -
- Gordon (8/5): Very comfortable - Spacious and clean
- Katrine (10/5): Would definitely come again but not in the midge season! - Beautiful place Midges! Sadly we couldn’t enjoy sitting outside
- Julie (8/5): Very good -
- Dan (9/5): We loved this place! - Beautiful grounds set on a golf course. We loved the setting! The hot tub has to be booked and it is set next to the building around the side so there is no real view of the gorgeous surroundings.
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Corcoran-snowden (3/5): Poor -
- Monteiro (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful place! In the middle of nature, with beautiful landscapes.
- Darren (7/5): Good -
- Tom (10/5): Amazing stay - Beautiful scenery, amazing staff and the riverbed Lodge was superb
- Potter (4/5): wouldn't recommend - It was clean and the food truck was great Much too expensive for what we got. There were no surfaces for luggage and no furniture other than a bed with side tables in a big room. Shower was tiny with weak water pressure The shared hall was dirty.
The worst accommodation we stayed in during our 2 week visit to Scotland.
- Jason (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (9/5): Very nice.would recommend - The location. Very beautiful scenery Na
- George (10/5): Short stay at Woodlands House. - Loved the location, tranquil, beautiful location and the room was very comfortable and absolutely massive. Good facilities within the room. Added bonus, the sun was shining all day. The food van outside 👌 Leaving!!!
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thijs (10/5): Great place to stay - Amazing location
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Megan (9/5): It was a clean and comfortable stay with beautiful views. - The room was clean and modern and the food truck was a wonderful addition I wish there were more usb plugs & that the sauna was closer
- Zoe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zaynab (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kritzinger (3/5): Poor -
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good - Spotlessly clean; big room, bed and shower room; lovely bedclothes, very comfortable bed. Good recommendation for eating at the Holly tree Room had but one hard chair and no comfortable chairs despite plenty of room; no clothes hangers. Considerable footsteps and creaking from people walking in room above; Not clear at arrival at the site where reception was (well signed on way out!). TV had a million channels but no bbc
