Guest Reviews
- Gregory (10/5): Great accommodation in a convenient location for walking and cycling holidays. - It was in a good location for our cycling trip.
It was clean and cosy. It was well maintained and well furnished to a high standard. The frying pan wouldn’t work with the hob, as it wasn’t the right type for the cooker.
But all the saucepans worked fine.
- Alexandra (10/5): Stylish, affordable base - Great location just outside Coniston village. The rooms were all good sizes and the whole house nicely decorated. Check in and out was seamless and we were kindly allowed to check in early. Excellent stay for an affordable price that is hard to find in the Lakes now. We just about managed to fit two cars on the drive one day, but it was a squeeze! Some extra info about where to park on the road would be helpful. But a small thing in an otherwise lovely stay.
- Ane (9/5): Great stay - Beautiful cottage, very nice views.
Very well equipped and comfortable.
Short drive to Coniston village. Awkward parking at the front, loose gravel and on a slope.
- Mark (8/5): Very good - Location and views Dishwasher error
- Abi (3/5): Wouldn’t recommend - Nice location and views Property needs some serious TLC it was generally grubby and lots of things are broken, beds are advised as large but are standard doubles in need of new mattress’s. I didn’t contact the host but messages were ignored.

- Judith (8/5): Lovely house in a great position for walking - Very spacious inside. Lovely position. Very easy to go for walks from the Cottage. It is advertised as having two car parking spaces. What is available means it’s really only easy for one car to park. A wood store has been placed in the small parking area which would be best placed elsewhere. This makes the limited space harder for the second car to get in and then hang out part onto the road. We walked every day and did not move the cars, but others may find this more difficult.
- Suzanne (8/5): Spacious well resourced house - Nice location It took a while for the cottage to warm up.
Parking not really suitable for 2 cars
- Suzanne (9/5): -
- Donna (9/5): Lovely location half a mile from Coniston - All of it Had trouble finding the instructions for appliances and 24 hours until response from owner. Instructions are in basket on top of fridge.
- sonya (10/5): Loved the cottage, loved the location, host very helpful. Cannot wait to return -
- Helen (8/5): Peaceful relaxing - Good location
Beautiful quiet cottage Coniston was a little disappointing itself
Small village
Quite Poor pubs with same menus and average / below average food
- Rachel (10/5): Perfect location, lovely peaceful cottage. - The cottage was perfect, it had everything we needed. The peaceful location was ideal.
The walking distance to Coniston lake and Coniston village was just right. Nothing

- Sue (9/5): Fantastic location, great views and spacious property. - Location, view , size Only one full bathroom plus a seperate toilet, not two bathrooms. Little bit dusty.
- Matt (9/5): A blissful stay in a place that felt like home - Beautiful location and homely feel Nil
- Staci (7/5): Good - Smooth check in
Lovely garden and views
Great location
Fab bathroom with great shower
Good communication
Clean and tidy
Very spacious
Good selection of cooking equipment Unfortunately we found the main bed and sofa quite uncomfortable
- Joelene (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location and facilities. Lovely garden to sit in. Very comfy beds. Walks straight into the mountains from the doorstep or to Coniston. Everything worked and hosts were very communicative.
- Joanna (10/5): Beautiful well looked after cottage, excellent location - Fantastic location for Coniston Water. We were competing in a swimming event and the location was perfect.
- Iain (6/5): Enjoyable family break. - Location, size of the property and facilities. Could do with a little TLC, which would enhance the experience.
Wi fi was unavailable throughout our stay, while this was outwith the owners control, we weren’t advised in advance. Despite messaging the owner we had to call to get an update. No additional updates were shared by the owner. Poor customer service.
- Emma (9/5): Superb -
- Eleanor (9/5): Great base for exploring Coniston and the local area - Lovely location, lots of room and places to sit/relax, comfy bedrooms and good facilities in kitchen, friendly and helpful owners as well.
Located next to some public footpaths so easy to get places without driving as well.
- Jenny (6/5): Amazing location but not luxury accommodation. - Location was perfect- 10 minutes to the nearest pub and 20 minutes walk to Coniston. Coniston is a gorgeous village! The beds were really uncomfortable. There are not enough comfy chairs to all have a sit down together as a group. But price does reflect that it’s not amazing quality. Maybe we’ve been spoiled with other properties.
- Philippa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gaz415 (8/5): Lovely cottage, really well situated close to Coniston, would deffo visit again - the arrival booklet sent by bookings.com wasn't to be opened so we didnt have the key safe code to get it, thankfully we messaged the owner and they gave it us and we got it with no problem
- Guest (9/5): Superb -
- Sean (10/5): Perfect location and lovely cottage - Very spacious and perfect Location for walks and a 20 minute walk to Coniston Nothing , was spot on for us !
- Rachel (9/5): Very enjoyable. - Spacious enough for six prime to fit in comfortably and in a convenient location. It took a while to warm up, but the mini heaters worked well.
- Robert (9/5): Superb - We had a great time and Taryn was really helpful.
- Diana (10/5): Beautiful location and great walks nearby - The cottage is in a great location. Perfect for walking with our rescue dog, as quiet. Also a short drive to Coniston with elderly parents for lunch and dinner. Very relaxing, spacious with great views N/A
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (9/5): Fantastic stay in Coniston - Fantastic view
Great furnishings
Cosy and warm
Proximity to coniston and access to walks Na
- Ben (8/5): Great - Location and house... great Directions to be clearer. Couldn't work out how to use hob. Big Lights in tv room didn't work
- Stephen (10/5): An amazing getaway with many great amenities available by car. - Very spacious and comfortable.
- Melanie (10/5): Amazing 🤩 - Amazingly peaceful could have stayed forever looking at the views.
Our dogs had the best time too xx N/a
- Olivia (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was amazing, sparkling clean and well organised. The location is really good if you wish to visit Lake District. There was nothing that we disliked
- Jay (8/5): Beautiful location and on the whole lovely house with a host who communicated well through the messages on the app. - Beautiful location and well maintained house in general. Great open fire place and enclosed well kept garden. Only one sharp knife made cooking difficult.
The lights in the main living did not work which did impact our evening and the lock broke on the bathroom - had there not been multiple people it would have left someone stuck in there!
- Matthew (10/5): Amazing - Everything Nothing
- Chris (8/5): Excellent, highly recommend. - Loved the style of the cottage, especially all of the wooden furniture. It was a bit further from Coniston than we expected although there is a path into the village (when not flooded). It rained a lot during our stay so we spent much time chilling out in the two reception rooms which are very comfortable. Radiator in master bedroom needs bleeding and ceiling lights in sitting room where not working. There is only space for one car outside the door, we parked our other car opposite on the lane. Parking in Coniston is expensive (£5 minimum per stay) and it is a 20 minute walk into Coniston along a bridle path so may not be suitable if mobility is restricted.
- Shelagh (10/5): A peaceful and beautiful cottage - hidden gem of a find! - The cottage was absolutely beautiful, even better than the photos on the listing show! We loved the open fire on a rainy evening after a long walk and the seated area in the dining room is lovely for an early morning read overlooking the garden. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need for your stay and the dining room was well stocked with various crockery and glasses. Everything was spotless when we arrived and having shampoo and bodywash provided was a bonus... the rainfall shower in the upstairs bathroom was amazing!
The cottage is in the perfect place to explore the coniston area (there is even a hidden pathway to coniston without having to walk down the roads) and was so peaceful with it being set back from the road up a little lane.
You are alway at risk of getting ticks if you're out walking in the lakes (I found that I'd picked up three while we were out one day) so I was very impressed that the owners had even thought of this and had a basket stored on top of the fridge with tick removers and other useful items for both humans and pets. The boiler stays on for quite a while after the hot tap is run and is extremely noisy if you're in the smaller of the two double rooms but this just gave me the excuse to use the twin room and get a bed to myself!
The hob took me a while to figure out and we could not get one of the provided pans to work on it, despite the welcome booklet giving instructions - although we did eventually find a manual on top of the fridge for any future visitors who aren't used to the technology.
The driveway is a little difficult to manouevre into and is initially quite steep so my reversing alarms were having a field day, so plan for this and kick your passenger out early to guide you in!
- Gorst (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful place to take a break or holiday in an ideal location in the heart of the lakes. Rustic charm, gorgeous garden and views, waking to the sound of the stream next to the cottage was bliss. It was immaculate, well presented and well equipped with everything you might need. Beds were lovely and comfy with good quality bedding. Rooms were spacious the dining room was a lovely space for eating and doors onto the garden. Thank you so much for a really lovely stay at a reasonable affordable price. Will definitely return five stars. Parking was a little tight for two larger cars.
- Z (10/5): Peaceful, relaxing, spacious and beautiful - The property was lovely, more spacious than expected, well furnished and well equipped - we had everything we needed were very comfortable and both close enough to town to get there by foot but far enough away to feel like we had our space and privacy.
- Michael (10/5): Amazing views, lovely accommodation, will rebook in the future! - Beautiful cottage with stunning views. It’s well cared for, can’t find fault at all. Nothing.
