Guest Reviews
- Francois (10/5): - Beautiful views of sunrises and sunsets. Apartment is large and fully equipped and has a very comfortable bed. Hosts are exceptional and caring with service far beyond expectation.
- Lesley (9/5): - This lovely home away from home is in a beautiful location and central to many Cape Town tourist destinations.
- A (9/5): -
- Michael (10/5): A very peaceful, clean, comfortable and enjoyable stay with amazing views - Being close to Fish Hoek and the quiet atmosphere, the views are amazing as well. Host was very accommodating and friendly, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The only thing I didn’t like about the stay was the security gate being rather dangerous with the spikes being very easy to fall into, a higher gate would solve the issue to avoid potentially tripping into it.
- Krzysztof (10/5): - Amazing place with soul, stunning views and great location for exploring the Cape. The host Gareth has taken care of us with compassion, making sure that our stay will be as pleasant as possible, giving great travel advices and sharing interesting information.
Exceptional quality of service. I can honestly recommend this place for all types of travellers. Tried to find downsides, yet failed.
- Michael (9/5): Family stay - The room was big and clean, with good facilities.
Gareth is an absolute great host. Gave us so much information and nothing was too much for him. Nothing at all. Great stay.
- Sandile Zwane (9/5): - The location is truly tranquil, offering stunning views of the mountains and the ocean that will make you feel relaxed and right at home.
- Xavier (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Toni (10/5): Superb stay with excellent hospitality - What a superb accommodation. We were more than happy to stay here for four days and would have loved to stay longer. Everything you need is provided. A comfortable bed, a well-equipped kitchen and a great view from the balcony. The daily breakfast was a nice bonus, and Gareth was a very helpful host who even arranged transportation from and back to the train station. Highly recommended. The time spent there felt way too short! ;)
- Flavio (10/5): - Everything was perfect, the location is great, the view from the guest house is amazing. The host are really nice and they are making your stay even better ! We play cards with them and had great talk. The accommodation is very spacious and have everything you need to cook or rest. Plus the breakfast is very good !
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Great view, washing machine and lovely facility. Great hosts. Comfortable bed. No faults.
- Cbeeks7 (10/5): Exceptional - Although the place give the impression that it is small, it is absolutely not the case. It is spacious enougj and very comfortable. Location, friendlyness of owner, view was exellent.
- Khashane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yihc (10/5): Exceptional - The owners are excellent in their knowlege and touring information on Cape Town and its vicinity.
The location has a fine view over the coast and is very convenient to tour various places of the whole Cape region including Cape Town, Cape of Good Hope and winery farms, etc. None
- Bledsoe (8/5): Very good - Views No heating
- Jp (4/5): It felt like we were back in boarding school with all the rules.... - The location was good and easy to find. The description of the property should be better. The word apartment creates an expectation that the facility has more than one room. Traveling with a family of adults makes it rather uncomfortable to stay in one large room with 3 single beds and one double bed. We were not aware of all the Rules of the property and the "fines". R100 for a dirty plate, R2000,00 rand for smoking etc, etc. We were three smokers in our group, and we were not allowed to smoke outdoors on the premises, we had to leave the premises completely and smoke out in the wind and rain. While I respect the host no smoking policy, I found this a bit draconian. We were called on Saturday night and told that we needed to pay a further R100 for the "extra bed" which was quite strange as when I made the booking it was for 5 adults, and I paid for 5 Adults in full. Needless to say, we booked out 1 day earlier.
- Van (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent very need ... best service ever We love everything..it's closed to all the beautiful places ....
- Adéla (10/5): Wonderful accommodation near town and nature - We are so glad that we chose Serengeti Sands! We haven't had better host than Gareth. He was very kind and helpful, we felt like home there. He helped us to plan our trips and answered all questions not just about Cape Town, but about the Garden route too.
The apartment is big, clean and in safe location. Not far from Cape Town, not far from nature parks. We had everything we needed and much more. You can park you car right in front of the house. Breakfast was excellent.
Thank you again, Gareth!
- Shantal (10/5): A piece of serenity with magnificent views and all the comforts you need! - The location was perfect for me. I would rate the accommodation a 5 star! The pictures do not do justice to what I had in front of me, the size of the apartment was more than comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped, and the cherry on top there was a coffee plunger (something I forgot to pack!) There are lights available to use during load shedding, as well as an inverter which keeps the Wi-Fi going during the power cuts.
Amazing views from the balcony. Perfect spot if you want serenity and quiet time.
Gareth is a warm, friendly, accommodating host who was available for any queries. The breakfasts were delightful with one being given a suitable selection to choose from. I would not hesitate to choose Serengeti Sands for my next trip to Fish Hoek. Thank you again, Gareth for your superb hospitality. If you are travelling with someone who has difficulty with mobility, note that there is a flight of stairs to walk up to enter the accommodation. I had no problem with it however older folk may find it difficult to navigate.
- Fawaz (10/5): Exceptional - Gareth was an amazing host who explained everything to us about the apartment. He was helpful, and sadly, our daughter got sick during our stay. Gareth helped us with everything and kept asking about her even after we traveled. Surely, when we return to the town, we will stay with Gareth for several days again.
- Christoph (10/5): Exceptional - I had a wonderful stay at Serengeti Sands. From the breathtaking views to the comfortable bed, to the 5* breakfast. Gareth is an amazing host who will go out of his way to ensure his guests are enjoying their time in Fish Hoek.
- Michrom (10/5): Family holidays down under :) - Hosts hospitality was exceptional - supported us every day in planning our sightseeing.
Apartment itself has been more spacious than we thought based on pictures, but pictures well reflect the space.
Even continental breakfast has been enough for us, and the choice was good for even picky eaters.
- Ilse (10/5): A room with a view - What a lovely surprise..lovely place if you're looking for location between Cape of good hope and airport. Our host wen out of his way to show us the ropes and has a written guide for everything that you might wonder about. We spent 2 nights and was more than comfortable if needed to cook or even do laundry....everything was readily available. This is a great place for a family of 4. The steps up can be great exercise and might be a challenge for older folks but the view is worth the effort. Thanks for making this a great ending to our Cape exploration. We will be back!! Everything was great
- Gerhard (9/5): Serengeti magic - The view the view the view. Day and night. Absolutely beautiful. Situated in a very quite area. The deck is amazing to sit and watch the night life in the evening. And that refreshing cool breeze. Easy to get to aswell. The owner are a very genuine caring person. Just waiting to assist in any questions or requests. Thank you Gareth. Lovely stay. We'll be back!! The large windows at the front cannot open. They have sunblock tinted rollers. But maybe something like a canopy above the windows or even if finance allows, a 80% shade cloth spanning the front balcony area. ( must say we had tempretures deep in the 30 deg. Celsius in our stay that was very unusual)
- Robert (10/5): Absolutely brilliant in every respect! - Stunning views and plenty of room for 4. Breakfasts were also a huge bonus for us. We were allowed to leave some of our luggage there which helped us a lot when we left. Easily the best place we have stayed at in the last 8 weeks Nothing comes to mind. A safe would be a useful addition.
- Timire (10/5): Very Pleasant ! Lovely View of the mountains and sea. - The Unit had everything we needed from a washing machine to a stove. Nothing
- Archimedes (1/5): Bad -
- Dsc (10/5): A place that takes care of even unskilled tourists, I recommend the facility. - The breakfasts were extremely diverse and tailored to our expectations. The owner was very helpful with behavior and choosing places to travel. The breakfasts were prepared by the host very carefully and included: salad with seasonal fruit, cereals and other dairy foods, sausages, fried bacon, sausages prepared in the local style, scrambled eggs, banana or cheese muffins and tomatoes. Everything was beautifully presented, plus freshly squeezed orange juice every day and a huge bowl of fresh fruit. Coffee, tea and Roibos all delicious. The recommended restaurant in "Cattle Baron" is the pearl of the immediate area. Difficult access to mountain paths in the immediate area.
- Joseph (8/5): Very good -
- Tania (9/5): Stunning unit with great views. - The property has a stunning layout and views, although needs to be accessed by stairs (which was not a problem). Although understandable, the R1000 cash deposit was a bit excessive for us, although it was immediately returned the next day. There was also a note above the kitchen basin that a R500 penalty was payable if all the dishes were not washed, and the note at the shower to confirm the cost if the shower door is damaged (I think it was R2500 if I remember correctly). As owners of rented properties, we should be willing to absorb some if the risk if things go wrong.
- Levine (10/5): Relaxing and refreshing - Location was great in the mountains. Everything was nice and neat.
