The attention to detail and ambiance are fabulous. Nice touch with the art-deco style. Even has a high-end stereo system with great selection of CDs. Breakfast was great - nice choices. Very clean and tidy. Very warm with both fan and gas heating. The location was great for our needs. The property is lovely. Our host was very friendly. Nice having hens about too. We loved the stay. Nothing to complain about.

Easy drive to Hobbiton (perfect location especially if you are doing the Evening Banquet tour). The whole experience completely exceeded all expectations.We loved our stay and just wished we had booked more than 2 nights. N/A - we loved everything!

• Julia (10/5): Wundervoller, individueller Ort, an dem sich ein mehrtägiger Aufenthalt lohnt. - Tolle Ferienwohnung auf einem ruhigen, etwas abgelegenen Anwesen mit unfassbar schöner Aussicht und Umgebung! Man seine eigene überdachte Terrasse mit Garten. Die Lage ist großartig, um die umliegenden Städte wie Matamata oder Cambridge schnell mit dem Auto zu erreichen. Auch Hobbiton ist nur 10 Min entfernt, man wohnt also praktisch schon in Auenland, die Landschaft sieht auf jeden Fall schon genau so aus. Auch Rotorura und die Ostküste sind mit dem Auto in ca. 1h zu erreichen. Wer eine anonyme Standardunterkunft sucht, ist hier sicher falsch. Für mich war es genau das richtige und eine tolle Abwechslung auf meiner Neuseelandreise.

• Kaitlin (9/5): A little piece of Paradise - What a beautiful haven in a glorious part of the world. We stopped over here on a longer drive and could have stayed for days - glorious grounds and gardens, spacious super private accommodation, incredibly thoughtfully appointed with everything you need for brekkie or a quick cook up at your fingertips. The decor is fabulously quirky - a mid century tongue-in-cheek kitsch fest, but comfort is key. You can hang out on site and take in the green serenity or make the easy drive to Matamata and local attractions - great location. Our host Syd could not have been more welcoming. A lovely, individual experience. Thank you, Syd!

From the first moment, when we opened the door we felt like home and very welcome. There are such a lot of details making this place unique. The view in the morning from the bed, the view in the evening over the valley seemed not to be real. And the the owner Syd - helpfull, kind, also unique and such a positive person. • Alice (10/5): Amazing stay with a lovely host and the greatest views ever! - Sometimes, while travelling, you meet people you instantly fall in "like" with. That was the case with Syd- an hour after my arrival we were already drinking prosecco at the pool. Syd and I were basically sentenced to each other for 12 nights because of my work schedule, which made both of us a bit nervous, but it worked out great- we cooked together a couple of times, had a glass of wine to decompress, and I even came back later in my travels for an additional night with my husband, just so he could meet Syd and see where I spent two weeks working. The stable itself is also lovely- it is a not-so-tiny house (about 60m2) far away from the main house to give you lots of privacy, especially since you have your own terrace and garden (with plenty of citrus trees- fresh orange juice every morning!). The chickens give you fresh eggs, and there are plenty of bird and bird sounds. The house itself has a very comfortable bed, one of the best showers ever, and a full kitchen, dining area and living room. The washing machine and salt water pool (very special!) are up at the main house, but you're free to use them whenever you want. And the location and views are amazing- the house is located on top of a mountain, at the end of a very long, private driveway. Very quiet overall, and the walk to the main road is perfect for an early morning walk. You'll even get to pet the cows, sheep and horses if you're lucky. Overall, a lovely stay and hope to be back some day! Absolutely nothing!
• Duaine (10/5): A fantastic break from the pace of modern life. - Booked this property as it was very close to Hobbiton movie set (10mins) and also close to hot springs, Hamilton and also a reasonable drive to the coast. The reality is that it was such a sanctuary from modern life that apart from Hobbiton we stayed at the property for the entire stay and would have stayed longer. Apart from the house belonging to the host which isn't visible from the bedroom or living room there are no other properties around and the road in is a private road so there are no vehicle sounds. You wake up to the sound of birds and can see them flying about along with an occasional rabbit. This is the perfect place to get away and switch off with a host who is extremely accommodating. Pop over for a glass of wine and a chat in the evening or settle in on your own for some privacy and relaxation. Syd the host also left a selection of useful food and drink items including a loaf of bread and half a dozen fresh eggs from his 3 chickens which were very tasty A super comfy bed and a fantastic walk in shower with hot water and great pressure. Plenty of space inside and private garden outside with a covered patio area. Also open plan garage area for your car so you can load/unload in the dry if it is raining. The pool was a delight and the stables are so beautifully unique. There was nothing that could have been better. Staying only one night would be the only regret.

Sharing your love of your home and its beautiful surroundings made our visit extra special. Our accommodations were clean and comfortable. Syd is an incredible host – so friendly and welcoming, with inspiring stories about how he built it all. Now that we’re back home, we still miss the peace, quiet, and beauty of Shargmor. • TriciaMRM (10/5): Fabulous accommodation - Do not be deceived by your first view of this accommodation. You step through the door into a gorgeous property with a lovely view. Very spacious but very homely. Syd, the host, has furnished this property with the same love & attention to detail as his own home. The bed was very snuggly & comfy, especially when the electric blanket was turned on a couple of hours before bed! The property is only 10 minutes drive from Hobbiton- The movie set. A must visit attraction. We could not fault this property & definitely recommend for a couple. Leaving!

• Stuart (10/5): Stay with Syd ! - Lovely spot on top of a hill and such a fantastic space more of a private lodge than a room with big lounge and outdoor space not to mention a rain shower big enough for a baby elephant. Soft towels, some home produce left for us and the covered parking make this a 5 star stay and that is before you meet the enthusiastic and very helpful host Syd . Nothing other than needing a road sign on the drive up (but Google maps gets you right there )

The host Syd treats you like an old friend and does everything to make sure you enjoy yourselves while at his place. A brilliant choice to stay if you are visiting Hobbiton, which is only 15 minutes away (I recommend the second breakfast tour)!

Room had a full kitchen and stereo system. It was tastefully and eclectically decorated and furnished. Use of salt water pool was available. Bathroom had an abundance of towels and amenities. The host was very hospitable and friendly. Nothing worth mentioning.

Best part was our handsome debonair host with the most! He made us feel like family, gave us day trip agendas, and filled us up a bag of fresh fruits from the orchard. His taste is impeccable and he was so fun! Stay here!!!!! It was perfect! I have frequented b&b’s in the past and this is the best so far!

The location, the decor , and the whole setup of the cabin (we will call it) were just amazing! From the stereo to the TV ,to the fully appointed kitchen and one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in. Syd was a very generous and most welcoming host who added to this experience.
