I was surprised we got breakfast included as thats not something i get at other hotels, the breakfast was delicious and fresh. We were warned about the loud noise on the Saturday above our room, i managed to sleep through it but my partner had trouble due to being able to feel the bass through the floor. It wasn't super loud just bassy.

- ShaneMcDonald (8/5): A really nice stay - Really nice hotel in a nice part of the country. Off the grid so this is a bit of a hidden gem. The food was really nice and the sleep was really good as the area is very quet. Nothing comes to mind - one thing I did miss was some museli / granola with yoghurts as an option for breakfast
- Linda (10/5): Gem of a hotel! - Everything! What a gem of a place. Really comfy, clean room, super strong water flow shower, the restaurant serving delish food and a friendly wee pub. Staff were welcoming and very helpful. Thank you for a great stay. Would we stay again? A BIG FAT YES 😊👍 Not one thing - perfect place! Happy guests 🌟

- Mark (8/5): Good value and very comfortable - Nice room, comfy bed and good shower. Nice breakfast and restaurant too. There was a strange advert playing on loop outside the entire night and was really loud. Couldn’t tell if it was the hotels advert or not but it ruined the sleep!

- Valerie (8/5): Nice Hotel - Very comfortable, well furnished, excellent restaurant, good selection of tasty food, the staff couldn't have been more helpful, and were very pleasant There was no air conditioning in the rooms, not often required, I know!
But it was so hot 2 fans barely relieved the heat.
Sadly, the dreadful noise from the other air con and kitchen extractor was unbearable, meaning you couldn't have the window open.

- Ann (9/5): Superb - The rooms were spotless. Beds were comfy and the staff were lovely. We had to vacate the room on Sunday morning by 10am. We felt it was rushed for us as we had a late night after being at a wedding the dat before.

- Roslyn (8/5): Would definitely stay there again. - Friendly staff, place has just been refurbished, comfy beds, good food and very good value for money. The rooms were a bit warm but fortunately we had a fan in our room. However, our family in the other room did not have a fan supplied and felt it was a bit too hot and uncomfortable.
- Kenneth (9/5): OK but don't stay when a group is booked, check up first - Just about everything The very loud group/music in the bar, lasted until 2am could not sleep
- Fleming (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful hotel lovely room and lovely staff
- Ian (8/5): Very good - Very clean hotel with friendly helpful staff The heat pump noise was quite intensive throughout the night
- Allan (10/5): Exceptional - There is nothing to dislike about the Blackbull, excellent staff , great food, good value for money.
- Oldfield (6/5): Pleasant - The room was lovely and clean, great shower! The breakfast was mediocre, not the best. One rasher of bacon, one slice of toast? No offer of more toast, no marmalade or jam. Had far superior breakfast for similar price.
Disappointing, as the food in the restaurant at night was excellent.
Bedroom was lovely and quite.. however, some rooms are above the pub, so very noisy until after midnight. So check.
- Fiona (10/5): Beautiful hotel, exceptional staff team and definitely worth a return visit - Came down for weekend to attend my friend's birthday parties, this hotel is exceptional in every way!, staff are very attentive, food is delicious, your buffet was beautiful, tons to choose from, very clean and bed is comfortable, coming from a person who gets sore easily is great, this hotel is definitely worth a visit, only 15 mins bus ride from Ayr, highly recommend and definitely in my top 3 fav hotels, thank you for making my weekend stay memorable! There was nothing to dislike
- Mark (10/5): A great find - A good find. I was on a touring trip with a friend, and we had seen this hotel advertised. It's the only pub in the village, and is in the middle of an agricultural area. It has a very pleasant bar area, and the restaurant is exceptionally good. nothing
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Made very welcome staff were great 👍
- Mariana (8/5): Very good -
- David (8/5): Very good - Room, hotel great. Breakfast good. Staff very friendly. We expected some noise from the bar below our room when we went to bed. We had been warned but the sound was so loud as to be vibrating in the room. Even when the live music stopped and the jukebox took over it was not much better. They really need to sort out the soundproofing. That was the only negative.
- Alec (10/5): Quiet countryside hotel with excellent food. - The recent renovation now presents pristine rooms and corridors. Well organised restaurant with a very talented chef. Plenty of choice even for picky eaters such as myself and the usual Scottish sized portions, ie large! The "out of the way" location helps if you are a light sleeper, but easy to find regardless. Another bonus for anyone using Prestwick airport would be the 10 minute commute. The only very minor niggle was the lack of a desk, which seems to be the case in all rooms, so with a business trip, don't expect acres of deskspace for laptops, books etc. The host did listen to this, so maybe that will be acted upon as the other guests I met there did appear to be working and not on holidays.
- Preston (10/5): Hotel was absolutely fantastic and the cooked breakfast was perfect.we will definitely be staying here again - Very modern and very clean Nothing. It was absolutely perfect
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jordan (10/5): Was recommended to us as we were at a wedding.in one word exceptional value for money - Was very quaint in a beautiful little village. Room was beautiful comfortable bed with exceptional shower. Great value for money as breakfast was included. We both work in the hospitality industry & would like to thank Sophie who made us feel welcomed on check in even arranging our taxis for us. Will definitely return & recommend to family & friends. The room was rather warm on arrival however good to see there was an adjustable thermostat & a fan outside the room
- Regan (8/5): Very good - Hotel was clean and comfortable and staff were polite and courteous. Small step leading into room should be highlighted to guests. Trip hazard.
- Catherine (8/5): Very good - Newly refurbished, nice decor, comfortable bed. Breakfast could be improved upon
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional - Fab stay at this hotel the staff were lovely room was great food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious would highly recommend
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Nichola (9/5): Superb - Room was lovely, feels like it has recently been refurbished. Great breakfast. Really comfy bed and fabulous shower. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was really good. Only slight thing is the reception desk isn't always manned so took a wee while to find someone to check in.
- Brian (7/5): Good -
- Anoop (10/5): Very enjoyable stay , would definitely stay again - New modernised
Clean
Warm
Characterful building Nothing
- Ray (5/5): Mixed service! - Brand new decor
Great reception and help with carrying bags
The evening meal
Nice powerful shower
The 'booth" seating in the restaurant
Friendly pub next door The outer door was still locked at 08.50 making it difficult to get out as had luggage when going to load car. Had to use fire door, the silver haired lady shouted to use it (grumpily!).
At breakfast I asked for an Americana (black). I got weak, tasteless, instant coffee served in a teapot!
So annoying as behind me was a top of the range Italian coffee machine. Don't think the young server knew how to operate it.
Eggs! One wishy washy with very pale, tasteless yolk (not free range tasting) and my partners yolk was solid. She asked for another and one was brought back quickly.
Miniscule pot holding Luke warm small portion of beans. Tomato on menu but not on plate.
Menu advertised 3 different fruit juices but only orange juice out.
Small bathroom with no room for a toilet roll holder.

Room very small, bed uncomfortable.
