Guest Reviews
- JamesMWh (9/5): - Wonderful little cottage. We had a small issue with the place when we arrived, but it was fixed rapidly and professionally. We'll be back.

- Christopher (9/5): Little Hillside cottage is a little gem! - Location was fine. Good base for walking, and travelling around. Nothing that we didn't like.
- Jamesmwh (9/5): Superb - Great view and location. Very comfortable accommodation, even if it is a little 'cosy' and a charming owner. All good!
- Sunshine_stephie88 (10/5): Would recommend, very cosy and great little house! - It was a lovely little house and very cosy, the kitchen was well equipped. The owner was very responsive and left us a beautiful little selection of essentials. Would definitely stay there again. The bedroom didn't have much space around the bed and the shower head didn't have a locator, which made washing my hair a challenge. Other than that it was great
- Green (9/5): Wonderful and cosey home-from-home - This is a lovely cottage/tinyhouse in Ashover. It's a separate building to the owner's residence - on the same plot but sufficiently spaced to be private. It's on a hill on a narrow, quiet road (there's just enough parking by the side for one car). It's a really lovely little place - small but very cosey. It's a fully equipped home-from-home - just enough for one person or a couple. It has a small but well fitted kitchen, with a washing machine (no dryer but there's a rack), a small dining/work table, two seater couch and a smart TV. Internet is good enough - I got about 20mb/s. Double-glazed throughout so its very quiet, although its a very quiet lane anyway. The kitchen has cutlery, pans, knives, spatulas, kettle and a toaster - pretty much everything needed.
Upstairs is the bedroom with a double bed, and the bathroom. There's a bathtub and a handheld shower - no shower cubicle. The bath is against the sloping roof, which makes showing a bit of a challenge - you have to kind of lean over due to the sloping roof line, or kneel in the bath. This is my only criticism - it would be better if it were a wet-room with the shower in the middle where the roof is highest, but it's not a big problem once you get used to it.
It has central heating with a combi-boiler - so there's always hot water on demand, and being a small place it didn't take long to warm the whole place up.
The views are really nice - looking down over Ashover. There's three pubs in the village - I only went in the Crispin (very very nice), and the Black Swan (ok). Didn't get around to the Poet. There's a cafe/post office/newsagents (does not take credit cards - only cash or debit cards), and next door is the grocery store - although I didn't visit this. I had very nice breakfasts in the cafe, very friendly.
The nearest place with a supermarket is Matlock - about 10-15 mins drive away. Showering was a bit of a challenge!
