• Pierre-Luc (10/5): L'appartement est parfait, sauf le bruit! - Très propre! Moderne et confortable avec tout ce quon peu avoir de besoin! La route est beaucoup trop bruyante, c'est ce qui a gâché notre séjour. Avec le speed bump en face, les gros camions qui ralentissent sur la compression, les motos qui accélèrent le gaz au fond... C'est vraiment désagréable.

• Jennifer (8/5): For the value, it was a comfortable place to stay and close ro town and activities - The property was fairly modern with comfortable furniture and nice fixtures. The location is great but it is a very noisy street. It was difficult to sleep. There was an unexpected cockroach when we got there but did not see anymore.
• Lise (8/5): Beautiful sunsets! - Beautiful sunset view. Comfortable bed. AC unit worked well. Don't be fooled by other reviews. You are right next to a busy roadway. The trucks and motorcycles are insanely loud (especially on weekdays), to the point where you can't even talk on the deck when they are passing by. The owner provides earplugs which are a must for proper sleep. If you're ok with the road noise going in, you'll like this place.

• Nicole (10/5): Great Stay, Great Host, Great Vibes - We loved our stay at Monstera Apartments Monteverde. The place was beautiful and super clean so it felt really cozy and well put together. Our host was awesome and super friendly, left us snacks when we got there (which was so nice), and was always quick to respond. They also helped us figure out fun stuff to do in the area. Totally recommend if you’re heading to Monteverde!

La atención fue fantástica, nos proporcionaron snack, refrescos y café. La cama es súper cómoda, también nos encantó que tenían diversidad de juegos de mesa ya que íbamos con niños, tiene todo para pasar una estadía fantástica. Todo nos gustó.

Es gab Leckerlis, Kaffe und wir wurden super unterstützt, was man in der Gehend unternehmen kann. Wir hätten auch Restaurantvorschläge bekommen, was wir aber garnicht in Anspruch genommen haben. • Kay (7/5): Gute Lage, Wohnung mit 2 Stockwerken etwas ausserhalb von Santa Elena - Gute Lage gleich ausserhalb von Santa Elena/Monteverde. Wir waren zu dritt für 2 Nächte im Dezember 2025 dort. Vom Gastgeber erhielten wir vorab einen Schlüsselcode, ansonsten hatten wir keinen Kontakt. Leider hatte es sehr viele Ameisen (auch die gösseren roten) im Haus und auch in der Küche, die wir zuerst einmal loswerden mussten. Ein Spray war vorhanden. Die Küche war etwas älter und ziemlich einfach gehalten.

There is a gas station and grocery store close by. The property is about a 5-7 minute drive from downtown Monteverde Property is very nice but lacks storage space so if you plan to stay for a few days there are no cabinets or storage for clothes etc.

The room was full of bugs: roaches, ants, and earwigs. We also struggled to get the door to lock due to a technical failure in the electronic mechanism.

• Sebastian (7/5): - Sehr schön gestaltetes Appartement. Viele Spiele für Kinder vorhanden. Die Vermieter standen mit Empfehlungen zu Aktivitäten und deren Organisation zur Verfügung. Treppe ohne Geländer macht die Unterkunft für kleine Kinder unsicher. Die Nähe zur Hauptstraße an einem sehr steile Abschnitt bringt einiges an Straßenlärm mit sich. Auch bei Regen und Wind wird es sehr laut durch die Kunststoffvordächer und das Blechdach. Das erklärt auch, warum in jedem Bad Ohropax auslagen 😉.
• amanda (9/5): Lovely apartment - This is a lovely, modern and clean apartment (apartment 1). It was well designed and tasteful with nice bed linen and towels. It was lovely to sit out on the large terrace at night. The host, Daniella, is very helpful and communication with her was excellent. There were some welcome drinks and snacks. Only issue we had was it was fairly noisy and hard to sleep as the property is close to the road.

• Anneke (9/5): Fijn appartement op een prima locatie - Ruime slaapkamers met goede airco. Groot balkon. Dicht bij activiteiten in Monteverde Het enige kleine minpuntje was dat het moeilijk was om 2 auto’s te parkeren naast het complex. De oprit was steil en onverhard en de bocht achteruit was moeilijk te nemen.
• Karin (7/5): Prima uitvalsbasis voor Monteverde - Leuk appartement net buiten Santa Elena Host Danielle was heel goed bereikbaar via whatsapp, kwam met nuttige tips en regelde zelfs de reservering voor onze tour zonder extra kosten. Echt heel fijn. Hygiëne liet helaas echt te wensen over. Ongedierte zoals moeten snappen we vanwege de locatie en daarvoor kregen we ook meteen een spray. Maar badkamers waren echt niet schoon, de voegen laten nu al los en overall was het niet heel hygiënisch. Denk aan vlekken in het beddengoed en vieze kruimels in het hoofdbord van het bed. Jammer, we hadden op basis van eerdere recensies en andere verblijven in costa rica wellicht een te hoge verwachting.
• VarsityTraveler (8/5): Comfortable for three-night stay - The apartment is attractive and appears to be newly-built. High marks for placing power strips with multiple outlets and USB-C ports at all four bedside tables! The downstairs bedroom is a bit cramped, but does have two storage shelves and a rod to hang clothes. The upstairs bedroom has more floor space, probably because it has no closet, shelves, or drawers. Both bathrooms are large, although there was an unpleasant odor in the downstairs bath. The full-size deck on the upper floor is great. The owner stocked a number of board games in the apartment, suitable for children and adults. While the apartment does not have a washing machine, the Sparkle Laundry directly across the street provides an excellent and fast wash, dry, and fold service. As other reviewers have noted, the apartment can be very noisy because the house is on the principal road. The sound of cars and motorcycles is constant - day and night. The owner provides earplugs. Also, during the day, the neighborhood dogs bark constantly. None of this can be helped, but one should be aware of it. The kitchen has a problem with tiny ants on the counters. We saw them on the first night and put our sealed food up high, atop the microwave, but it didn’t help. We resorted to storing food inside the microwave or inside the refrigerator. We advised the owner, who said the ants come in because of the rain. The parking area next to the building is extremely tight. It is possible to park two cars side-by-side; however, it is not possible to open both the driver and passenger side door. There are parking spaces on the roadside, but that requires a walk to the apartment up a steep driveway. A welcome booklet with area information would have been helpful.
• Laura (9/5): Great apartment and good value for the money - would recommend - Fabulous apartment with great views of the valley (when the clouds lifted) The apartment contained everything that was promised, including an umbrella - which was needed for our stay in late Oct. Quite noisy road outside, although quiet after about 10pm. This has been acknowledged by the owner, who thoughtfully leaves ear plugs for guests. Was just a little bit too far out of town to walk anywhere, you definitely need a car for this location
• Allison (9/5): Lovely apartment but noisy - We loved the two separate bedrooms with two full bathrooms in each. The apartment was comfortable. The design aesthetics were very nice and appeared to have been recently remodeled. A lot of thought was included to accommodate travelers. The upstairs deck was superb for watching the sunset and enjoying some outdoor time. Daniela was responsive to questions and very helpful. The apartment is located directly on the main highway through town. We could hear traffic, loud trucks, motorcycles, construction, and barking dogs. The host was nice enough to leave earplugs, however, if you are not used to wearing earplugs this is off-putting. Had we been aware of the noise in this area we would not have chosen this location.

• jackie (10/5): - It was a beautiful apartment, very modern with everything you needed for a comfortable stay. The double bedrooms were large and comfortable with nice bathrooms. The balcony was amazing. The surrounding area is spectacular. We did El Tigre and had an amazing day. Launderette straight opposite. I hadn't realised how far it was from the main area of pubs restaurants etc. Without transport it was about a 30 minute walk up hill, often in the rain on a very dark road. Very noisy for traffic as it's right next to the road. It has a beautiful wide open wooden staircase which might not be suitable for children.
• Timothy (10/5): Very clean and comfortable two-bedroom apartment; we would return. - Very clean and modern duplex. We liked the upstairs balcony and quiet location. The provided snacks, drinks, and excellent coffee were a nice bonus!! If we had stayed longer, we would have taken advantage of the fully equipped kitchen. Not in walking distance to restaurants, convenience store, etc., but we were only there for one night so it didn't matter much.

Al llegar había una bolsa con comida y hormigas en uno de los muebles de la habitación. La habitación y el baño de la primera planta olían muy mal. Estaba el baño lleno de moscas.

Heerlijke bedden en in beide slaapkamers een smart tv, ideaal voor een regenachtige avond. Op loopafstand een supermarkt en enkele restaurants. Pannenkoekenmix konden de kinderen waarderen.

• Jarmila (9/5): Superb - The place was spotless, has parking, coffee was provided and has an AC for temperature control. Location is amazing, I walked 30 minutes to all the restaurants via a secure sidewalk. There is a grocery store up the road 3 minutes walk. The hosts are amazing, they will give you the best service and answer all of your questions. They helped me with tours and have an open communication channel. This applies to most of the area in general, unless you go to a very remote location,is the sound of the motrocycles going up the road starting at 4am. Understandable, these are all of your guides, hotels and restaurant workers. Most stays are next to the main road. The hosts provide earplugs and the AC can be dialed to turbo mode and this solves that issue.
