Guest Reviews
- Christophe (8/5): Idéal pour se reposer et profiter d un coin reculé - 10 minutes de bateau de la ville - Calme tranquillité dîner et petit déjeuner exceptionnel gentillesse du personnel
- Faramarz (10/5): Thank you chef Chris, Guapo Danial, Captain Eddie, and the lovely lady for your amazing hospitality and service. Chris i - Amazing Amazing
- Ian (10/5): -
- Justine (9/5): Amazing Villa in the middle of the jungle - We had a wonderful stay at the villa, even though it ended up being shorter than planned. We had originally booked two nights, but unfortunately couldn’t stay the first night due to our late flight arrival in Bicol and the low tide, which made access to the villa impossible at that time.
It’s important to note that the villa is only accessible by a 10-minute boat ride from Pilar port, so arrival times need to be planned accordingly. Thankfully, Baltazar was incredibly responsive and not only arranged a hotel in central Pilar for our first night, but also covered the cost, which we truly appreciated.
The team made our stay truly special. We received a very warm welcome from Stifanny, who also organizes airport transfers, Daniel, who manages the boat trips between the port and the villa, and Sylvia and her colleague, who prepared delicious meals throughout our stay—they are fantastic cooks!
On our last day, Stifanny even organized a private tour for us around the volcano and Legazpi while driving us to the airport, which was a perfect way to end our trip.
The location is absolutely stunning, right in the heart of the jungle, offering a peaceful and unique atmosphere. The villa itself is clean, comfortable, and very inviting.
We highly recommend this place to anyone looking to relax, disconnect, and enjoy nature for a few days.
- C (10/5): A Real Hidden Gem - Absolute hidden gem and perfect for a few days of relaxation and quality family time. The Villa is beautiful with very tastefully crafted furnishings and stunning views. All meals exceeded our expectations and was freshly prepared and cooked onsite daily - delicious. Big thank you to Chris & Gemma for looking after us at site and for whom nothing was too much and a big thank you to our host Baltazar for wonderful remote support. Would definitely love to visit again. We loved the 10 minute boat ride from the port and the arrival which emphasized the wonderful seclusion and tropical vibe of the place from the outset. There are several breakout places which added to the overall Villa, grounds and views experience. Our intention was to immerse ourselves in the Villa experience which for us was perfect for our 2 night stay. For those seeking trips out of the Villa these will need to be planned and coordinated around the tides and if we stayed longer we would have been very interested to do.
- Michael (10/5): Adventurous, exciting, delicious and fun! - Location and staff! Nothing.
- Ryann Steffensen (10/5): Remote stay - The best part about the villa is the staff especially Chris the manager and chef. The meals were delicious and he even made a few special requests for us. The moment you are picked up at the airport you are taken care of. The villa itself is nice with wonderful outdoor spaces. The location is unique because it takes 10 min boat ride to get there. Come for the house but stay because of the staff. The tours that the owner sent had doubled in price from the tour company with no explanation. The tour operator was rude when I questioned her about it. The owner made it right and scheduled a private boat right away.

- Tammy (10/5): Would highly recommend! Loved every minute ! - We loved our stay here! Property is beautiful, staff are very helpful and professional. The food was delicious! Everyone went out of their way to make our stay amazing 😊😊
Baltazar also recommended an airport transfer and an island hopping tour with two exceptional companies! Both are highly recommended!
Would would have loved to stay for a week, thank you to everyone at the villa, we hope to come back 😁😁
- Ella (7/5): -
- Sid (8/5): - The staff are absolutely incredible.

- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely amazing! Chris is the best Host and Cook, delicious Meals and wonderful Villa! Also the cleaning / Assistant Ladies are super nice and helpful! Nothing :)
- Frances (10/5): Exceptional - This place is a serene haven! Wake up to breathtaking sunrises and the sweet songs of birds. Its peaceful atmosphere will make you want to linger. Plus, it's a steal to book the entire villa at such an affordable price, considering its stunning views and top-notch amenities.. One potential drawback is the occasional power fluctuations due to the villa's remote location. However, rest assured that there's a backup generator to ensure uninterrupted service during outages.
- Matt (10/5): Absolutely 10/10, tranquil, beautiful, unforgettable. The staff are the superstars here. - Villa Kulintang is hands down one of the most magical places we've ever stayed. From the moment we arrived by boat, we were blown away by the beauty and tranquility of the setting. The location is absolutely perfect – remote enough to feel like a true escape, yet Chris is happy to accommodate any requirement to go back to town or any other island.
The villa itself is immaculate – clean, well-maintained, and beautifully designed. But what truly makes Villa Kulintang unforgettable is the incredible staff. Chris and Sylvia are absolute stars. Their warmth, kindness, and attention to every little detail made us feel right at home. They go above and beyond in every way to make your stay special – nothing is ever too much trouble.
And the food... just wow. Every meal was a delicious, fresh, home-cooked masterpiece. Dining here felt like being spoiled by a private chef every day, because that is exactly what it is!
If you're looking for somewhere truly special with world-class hospitality, stunning surroundings, and that extra something that makes a holiday unforgettable – Villa Kulintang is it. We can't wait to come back. Thank you Chris and Sylvia for everything!
- Jacqueline (7/5): Friendly and quiet - Very nice view and good service/food. We had a wonderful stay and were well looked after by Chris and his team. However, we do have a few notes that are specifically aimed at overdue maintenance and the room downstairs is very bad and smells terribly of mould and damp. This room should not actually be rented out. Also, the path from the drill to the house is difficult to walk and should be expanded better.
It should also have been mentioned that you can hardly leave the house at low tide, so you are very much at the mercy of the tides.
- Charlotte (10/5): A slice of heaven - The Villa is one of the most tranquil places we’ve been to, the views are breathtaking. If you want peace and quiet with no interruptions this is a great place to unwind. Chris looked after us - he was the perfect host, an amazing chef and was always on hand if we needed anything. No negatives but it essentially in the jungle so there are inevitably a lots of bugs. And a highlight for us is how remote it was, Chris made some amazing meals but if you want any extras we would advise to bring it with you (snacks, drinks etc) as there’s no easy access to a shop.
- Leonor (10/5): I recently enjoyed a wonderful family vacation at Villa Kulintang! - I recently had the pleasure of staying at Villa Kulintang with my family, and it was a wonderful vacation! The homestay is nestled in a quiet, serene, and tranquil location, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. If you’re a nature lover, this place is definitely worth booking.
One unique aspect of getting there is the boat ride required to reach the homestay. While it adds to the charm of the experience, I found it a bit challenging during low tide, so be prepared for that. A highlight of our stay was the culinary experience provided by Chris, the chef. For just P500, he prepared all the meals we requested, and each dish was delightful. His cooking truly enhanced our stay, making us want for more.
Additionally, Villa Kulintang is pet-friendly, which was a delightful bonus. Pidong, the resident dog, is charming and friendly, making it a welcoming atmosphere for animal lovers. Overall, Villa Kulintang is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to unwind and immerse themselves in nature. I highly recommend it! I loved every aspect of my stay at Villa Kulintang, but there was one minor issue: when I inquired via Messenger, I was informed that toiletries were provided in the villa, so we didn’t bring any supplies; unfortunately, there were no toothbrushes or toothpaste available when we were there.
- Hendrik (9/5): Superb - Silence of remote location
Good service and cook
- Ester (9/5): Very warm and accommmodating host. Great local cuisine - The location and the attention to details re our travel needs by the friendly staff specially the site manager Chris Fahrh and the owner Bal Pelayo. Nothing not to love
- Mark (5/5): Not what we had envisioned. - The staff were really nice and helpful. The food was tasty. The owner helped with arrangements for excursions. Its a nice property. The description of this place makes it sound like a property that has all the amenities of a hotel that it is surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches, restaurants and coffee shops when in fact the reality is completely different. It is a nice villa, however it is not for everyone. We were told we had to catch the boat before 2pm due to tides, once we arrived we discovered that you are stuck there until next morning. There is literally nothing to do there. Its a villa on an incline in a jungle, not a beach in sight, No coffee shop, no grocery shops, no bar, no Restuarant no 24 hour reception, just you and nature. You need to inform the owner the day before what you would like to eat so that he can bring supplies to the cooks who will prepare your meal in the outdoor kitchen.
if you want almost complete isolation, then this is the place for you.
- Robby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Juhani (9/5): Superb - Nice and relaxing nature view and atmosphere. Friendly staff who also made really tasty food. It was fun to explore the port town and wander the villas coast in low tide. We left the villa very relaxed! AC noisy and a bit underpowered for the hot weather, but does it's job the best it can. The electricity fluctuates in the evening but it wasn't a big issue.
- Vivian (10/5): Excellent stay in a safe and comforatable villa with a staff providing excellent service. - Villa Kulintang provides modern, comfortable, elegant, and chic accommodation in the middle of a jungle but next door to a busy port, providing the best of both worlds: a quiet place to comfortably relax but near enough the city center to actively engage in city life, tours, etc. We felt safe, island hopping in boats captained by local fishermen (Roy, Ronel) who understand the waters, and swimming with whale sharks with local whisperer (Omar - strict!, but hey, you are dealing with wild life), and dining in style with Chris our chef and tour guide, Sylvia, and Gemma. In low tide, docking the boat can be a bit of a challenge. It is part of the fun though to meet up with the boat and live the island life as the tides ebb and flows.
- Joern (10/5): Exceptional - Outstanding standalone Vila with excellent staff for breakfast and service in general.
Do not miss the extra charge chef named Chris for lunch and dinner. Delicious Filipino food and international dishes like never seen before.
You have to be in good condition to enter the area. It is only available by boat and depending on tide.
Quiet location, around the Vila all natural, full equiped house, thanks for everything. AC for the upper floor not big enough. But I didn't use it anyway. It could be important for others.
- William (10/5): A magical, serene place - The property is located exceptionally well on top of a hill of an island, hence only accessible by boat
It is beautiful appointed in a European style
The views from the property are amazing- and it is so quiet
But the highlight must be the staff who took care of me incredibly well, nothing was too much; and the meals cooked by Chris were all delicious
I have stayed in many 5 star Hotels around the world, but this is certainly something very special
Thank you Chris and Team for an unforgettable experience Nothing-but having kayaks available for guests would further enhance the list of activities
- Tri (9/5): A lovely stay on a secluded island. - This place is tucked away on a private island, accessible only by boat. A team of very lovely, welcoming staff greeted us upon our arrival and took care of all of our needs. They cooked meals for us and made sure that our stay was comfortable. The staff will even take you to any excursions in the local area and make sure everything is being taken care of. A really lovely experience. There is no reliable wifi unfortunately. Luckily we could still use our phone data, but if you wanted to watch netflix or stream videos, your data will go pretty quickly. Apart from that, our stay was very pleasant.
- Mei-ya (9/5): A relax cozy place makes you enjoy. - The staffs are super friendly and make you feel relaxed. The decoration and meal are also very enjoyable. The access to the villa is only through boats. It's not walkable to the other parts of the town.i also enjoyed this different experience but didn't expect it when I booked the accommodation.
- Marikki (9/5): Peaceful stay in the beautiful nature - The villa is surrounded by beautiful nature and it is in such a calm and peaceful place. The staff are incredibly helpful and really want to make your stay perfect. We had delicious meals cooked for us at the villa every evening and it was heavenly! Definitely come here if you want to get out of it all for a while and relax. To be noted that to get to the villa you will need the villa staff to pick you up by a boat from Port Pilar. There is no road to the villa and depending on the tide, the journey will take 15-20 mins. We were not bothered by this and anytime we needed to go, the staff was more than helpful to accommodate us moving around!
- Gidget (8/5): It was worth the trip. -
- Vladimir (10/5): Exceptional - We were lucky to stay with this villa. Team - Chris, Silvia and Gem were very helpful. Place is a piece of nature, palms and plants around but safe and enjoyable. Villa has authentic oriental interior but with good European influence. I recommend. Nothing. Probably for somebody seems not so comfortable, for example you should go there by boat, but it makes your vocation more adventurous.
- Quigaman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jodie (10/5): A beauitful paradise and a really special experience - Villa Kulintang was truly a once in a lifetime experience, if you like nature, peacefulness and local experiences you can’t miss it.
It is tucked away in a remote area, after arriving at Pilar port you are transported by an outrigger canoe to the Villa, a really special experience. The villa itself is beautiful, and you have it all to yourself. It’s located at the top of the garden with two floors overlooking the jungle with a glimpse of the water. The terrace on the lower floor is perfect for chilling out, doing yoga and enjoying the surroundings. We spotted several collared kingfishers flying around the garden which was amazing.
While we were there we also enjoyed some tours around the local area in the villa’s outrigger canoe. We went to some local white sand beaches and sandbars which were really beautiful and were shown some of their local sea grapes agriculture.
The thing that makes this place really special is the people. The owner was always available for communication and ensured things were running smoothly. Further, there is a whole team of people who stay on premises (at the end of the villa’s garden) and I immensely appreciated their hard work and talent, which really made our experience in Villa Kulintang that extra bit special. They tend the grounds beautifully and made lots of suggestions for what local experiences we could have while we were there. In addition, we opted to have our meals cooked for us and I’m so glad we did! Chef Chris cooked us an array of incredible feasts, allowing us to try some local delicacies in the comfort of our ‘own home’. In addition, a special thanks to Sylvia and Gemma who provided us with fantastic company every day and coordinated to ensure our every need (and more!) was met. Gemma also gets credits for her amazing artistic skills when it comes to decor, every day the dining table was a new work of art! Nothing, it’s great.
