• Marilyn (10/5): Lula is so hospitable, welcoming and friendly. A lovely stay and we will be back for sure. - A charming,very clean apartment with an amazing hostess who provides an exceptional homemade breakfast. The view from the terrace is beautiful and the whole area is so quiet and quaint. A few minutes walk up a very steep hill to the castle. Once you know the area, there are shortcuts to the old town. Parking available.

• Anika (9/5): Jederzeit gerne wieder! - Die Lage zum Zentrum ist perfekt. Familie Lula hat uns total herzlich empfangen und täglich mit einem anderen hervorragenden selbstgemachten Frühstück versorgt. Die Wohnung ist sehr geräumig, es fehlt an nichts. Die Anfahrt mit dem Auto und das parken, aber das wird in ganz Gjirokastër so sein, nicht nur an dieser Unterkunft. Ich war froh dass mein Mann das Auto gefahren hat ;-) Aber auch hierfür haben wir vorab ein super vorbereitetes Video bekommen und Hilfe beim einparken.

• Sebastian (10/5): - Unser Aufenthalt im Lula Guesthouse wird uns lange in Erinnerung bleiben. Die Lage ist perfekt, um innerhalb von 5-10 min die Burg und die Altstadt mit dem Old Basar zu besuchen. Wir haben vorab eine Wegbeschreibung erhalten, um das Guesthouse problemlos zu finden und wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen Die Wohnung ist schön groß und sehr gut ausgestattet, alles ist sehr sauber und in einem sehr gutem Zustand. Es gibt genügend Handtücher und Decken. Vom Balkon aus hat man einen tollen Ausblick und man kann in Ruhe dort sitzen. Das Frühstück war sehr vielfältig und super lecker. Wir haben auch an einem Abend selbst gekocht. Wenn wir etwas brauchten oder eine Frage hatten, waren die Gastgeber immer da und sehr hilfsbereit. Unsere 2 jährige Tochter hat es sehr gut gefallen und sie sagt immer noch begeistert den Namen der Gastgeberin. Eine Waschmaschine gibt es auch. Wir werden das Guesthouse hier und in unserem Freundeskreis auf jedenfall weiter. Es hat den Aufenthalt in Gjirokastra unvergesslich gemacht!

The hosts are very kind and helpful. Parking space is nearby, but the access road is very steep and narrow, only for confident driver.

• Natalia (10/5): Great apartment with amazing view, wonderful hosts and breakfast - The location, apartment and mostly the family that owns the accommodation are all amazing. Each morning they served us breakfast that we amazing and so big that we always took half of food with us during the day as snacks. They were super nice to us, our daughter found her Albanian granny there :) also the view from the balcony is wonderful 😍 The only thing we would change is the bed and pillows, as they were not very comfortable.
• Marco (10/5): Visit Gjirokaster - Very nice location nearby the center of Gjirokaster. Wonderful and very helpful and friendly host despite language problems. Luckily we have Google Translate . Lovely breakfast ( a bit too much for 2 persons) . Very quiet and clean appartement Reading the previous reviews; they are true: a wonderful location and lovely host.. A bit difficult to find and limited parking spaces. The host helped us with the parking.
• Alistair (7/5): Good - The host was very friendly, and the breakfast was huge and excellent - easily enough for us for lunch as well. The small terrace at the back had a lovely view and was a nice place to sit. The location was nice, up a steep hill, about 10 minutes walk from the touristic centre. Despite the issues I describe we still had a nice stay. General maintenance was a bit of an issue - there was no toilet seat during our stay - not the first time it's been mentioned, I note. Several other things were broken e.g. the kettle, which does not turn itself off (bit of a hazard, needs replacing), the AC unit sometimes does not turn off and has to be turned off at the circuit board - that sort of thing. A couple of hob rings were out and I don't think the oven was working either (not 100% sure, was fiddly to operate). We stayed in a rather cool March and though the heating from the AC worked, it wasn't naturally a warm place - but obviously that won't be an issue in the main season.
• Stanley (10/5): Perfect place for vacation. - Nice and cozy apartment in a unique location. Very friendly and helpful host despite language barrier, helped us with parking and with washing mashine. Nice view from balcony. Rich breakfast. Apartment isn't new, some things already worn, but it's still worth the visit. Impossible to get there by car using google maps, but host helped us. Bed mattress with springs, so wasn't very comfortable.
• Beckett (10/5): Wonderful people and delicious breakfast - Really spacious place with everything you could need. Lovely view from the balcony looking over the mountains. It was a real luxury having a washing machine and dryer in the place! Really easy to wander down to the bazaar and up to the castle. Hosts were really warm, hospitable people even bringing treats when we arrived. The breakfast was really incredible, we couldn't eat it all there was so much of it. I couldn't recommend this place more. Tricky to park given a really steep narrow street, but found parking up the top about 100m away.
• Agnese (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay, right next to the fortress, in the historic center with a beautiful view of the mountains. Lida is a wonderful person and surprised us with a very tasty and varied breakfast every morning. Lida welcomed us as warmly as at home. We are happy that we met such a unique person and stayed in such a place that we will never forget.
• Leigh (10/5): Great hosts and an amazing location. - The location was great! Our hosts helped us park and with our luggage. The huge breakfast was delivered to the apartment. Our hosts went out of their way to help us with parking getting settled in. They do not speak English but use google translate. The toilet does not have a regular seat. The location is great but it is up a very steep cobblestone street so if you have any mobility issues it could be a problem. Driving up is a challenge.

• Chester (10/5): Exceptional - We consider ourselves fortunate to have experienced the warm and gracious hospitality of this host family during our visit to Albania. Also, the property is well located for seeing the sights of Gjirokaster, has a washing machine that we gratefully made use of, and includes a terrific breakfast.

However the host very kindly solved that for us and parked our car for us.
• Baffour (10/5): Best Albanian experience ever, it was wonderful! - This was one of the best places to stay in Albania for us as a family with a 1-year-old son. The host is warm-hearted, kind, and sweet. We loved every minute of our stay, especially the breakfast, which was always freshly made. Just incredible! Be aware of the steep road up the hill. There is a parking spot really close, but it's not an easy climb for the car. There are other parking spots close enough on the main road up the hill, so you don't need to make the climb by car :-) All in all, it was the best experience in culture and hospitality we had in Albania. Faleminderit shumë!
• Ellie (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment was amazing, the lady who owns the property is one of the nicest people ever. She's so helpful and kind even with little English. The breakfast each morning was something different and always delicious. The location was excellent and just a short distance from all the main sites. Though it says private parking is available when we turned up, a guy parked our car for us on a very narrow, steep hill (almost right outside the apartment) which is not what we were expecting. Although no damage was done to the car we were quite nervous it would get scratched. To get out we had to drive the wrong way down a 1 way street. Everything else is perfect so just something to bare in mind if you're expecting easy private parking!
• Richard (9/5): Lovely stay near the heart of old town - Very friendly host, we originally just stayed for one night but decided to extend our stay as she was so nice and brought us huge feasts for breakfast every morning. Nice and warm. Pleasant view from the window. No parking, but we found some about 500m down the hill. Word of warning the hill leading to the house can be slippery at night!
• Troy (10/5): Incredible ❤️ - We loved everything about this incredible place. The apartment is clean, spacious and very comfortable. The balcony view is beautiful and it's a lovely place to sit and relax. Parking close by, nice location close to the castle. The breakfasts....wow, just so good,......all this alone is fantastic..... but then what made this stay our best in Albania was the incredible hosts. Mailinda and family are kind, generous and welcoming in a way that made us feel so cared for and at home. You should book this great place for the privilege of meeting and spending time with these wonderful people alone. It's worth more than 10/10!!!

• Thabet (10/5): A 10+++ APARTMENT BASED ON ALL ASPECTS. - Mdme Majlnda our hostess is exceptionally hospitable, friendly and prepare tons of delicious food for breakfast with variety. Location walking distance to The Castle ,Bazaar, and restaurants. Spotlessly clean. The view is SPECTACULAR. Apartment is good size. In ALL HONESTY NOTHING. Having to leave so we extended our initial reservation from three nights to four.

It’s possible to park near the house. The hosts are so kind and lovely!! Always willing to help. Breakfast is amazing. Plenty of food, traditional, homemade and delicious. Thanks for everything!!!
• Maciej (10/5): Best place in Gjirokaster - Amazing place, with a great view. All the facilities worked well, and it's in a good location for getting to the castle and the old town, but not too close (so quiet at night). The small boy Nico helped us park the car <3 and his grandma was lovely, and made us huge and delicious breakfast with pancakes, fresh bread and locally grown vegetables. Stay for a whole week if you can!
