Guest Reviews
- Margaret (10/5): It was a great little place - The little unit was ideal for my needs. Very comfortable, warm, with a good assortment of kitchen equipment and exceptionally clean. The bed was so comfortable and warm. There was no outside noise. All the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I hope i will be able to stay there again on my next trip to Hasting. There was nothing that I didn't like
- Michael (9/5): -
- Kate (10/5): Lovely place to stay - It was very comfy and clean
- Mark (10/5): - Plenty of room, spacious but compact
Comfortable couch to relax on, read a book
Just around the corner from family we were visiting
Quality furnishings; comfy bed & spacious as well
Also got a few ideas for our own homel 😀
Owners were very accommodating & helpful
Instructions for access accurate.
Would use again, no major issues
A lovely place to stay. Thanks guys. Off road parking was not available. Thought it may have been an issue but a trouble free event.
Not a biggie but used to hand basin in bathroom. Kitchen sink had to be used. May have been a space issue in the bathroom but a small sink could be considered.
- Leanne (8/5): - Limited number of tea and coffee condiments
- Grace (9/5): Would recommend as a place to stay in Hastings - Nicely presented, comfortable, easy to find and access.
- Veldhuis (8/5): Was good - Nice, clean and comfortable, close to everything TV, couldn’t get free to air, couldn’t watch the news
- Anjana (9/5): - Quite There was no sign for the property only the address ,and no instruction given
- Antonia (9/5): -
- Natalie (10/5): Will definitely stay there again. Really clean and comfortable. - Clean, comfortable and just lovely!
- Shannon Rochelle (10/5): Cozy stay at Hastings and great way to get to Napier for the Art Deco Festival - The property was exactly as shown in pictures. A very comfortable stay and the host is very prompt. She gave us clear instructions of what needed to be done to checkin and all the facilities were excellent. The unit was clean and tidy. The bed was comfy and the linens were clean. The kitchenette had all basic items required and cleaning supplies. The bathroom and toilet were also clean and there were sufficient towels. It had a TV and all the necessary appliances such as kettle, microwave, fridge, iron, toaster etc. Would 100% stay again and recommend to anyone visiting Hastings. Nothing.
- isobel (9/5): great little find - the studio felt faultlessly clean and cosy and i couldn’t have asked for a better one-night respite from backpacker hostels. well stocked with nice crockery and bedding and the complimentary tea coffee and biscuits were a sweet touch. any and all communication from the host via both booking.com and the booklet in the studio was helpfully specific and welcoming truth be told it did feel odd to be without a bathroom sink having to wash my face next to the microwave. the lockbox for the key also had a maddeningly awkward mechanism
- Steve (8/5): Comfortable and very quiet lovely atmosphere. - Quite and very comfortable. Something happening with the hot water we couldn’t get any on the last day of our stay.
- Derek (9/5): Great spot would happily stay there again. - Extremely clean and well presented. Good communication with the vendor.
Lovely little place, very quiet and central. Not much!
- Bob (9/5): Great stay in a very clean and comfortable studio. - Very clean and tidy accommodation, quiet location, perfect for my business trip.
Instructions timely, clear and straightforward.
- Mravicich (10/5): Gorgeous Cabin - Gorgeous wee cabin perfect for our overnight stay. Nothing
- Rex (9/5): A pleasant stay, once we finally gained a very late access to our accommodation - good bed, modern furniture No handbasin - had to use kitchen sink for everything. Booking.com didn't send the entry key code email and instructions until the day of our arrival, therefor we had left home to travel before the email arrived and had no way to accesses the accommodation for two hours after our arrival. Fortunately, another guest arrived and we were able to get a contact phone number, to gain entry instructions. We had assumed the owner would be on the premises, but as this wasn't the case, we were fearful we would not get to use our prepaid accommodation at all. This was very stressful for us. The app on my phone was not even showing the booking, and we had no idea that an email had even been sent, until we arrived back home Very poor, and late, communication by Booking.com
- Ramirez (10/5): -
- Rebecca (9/5): - Conveniently located. Modern and clean. Perfect for a weekend stay. When I arrived the property had been shut all afternoon and it was extremely hot. They did provide a fan and it cooled down once all the windows had been open for a while.
- Gaylene (7/5): - A great wee place to stay. Clean and comfortable with lovely decor. I appreciated the prompt and friendly communication from the host.
- Muller (9/5): Good - I like the studio, comfortable and clean The parking
Not really safe to park on the road, also not fair that other guests could park on the driveway whereas for us to park on the road. The studio is at the back, quite a distance to walk to and from the car🥲
- Graham Ford (6/5): A nice studio but there are some limitations. - Close to town. Very comfortable bed. Excellent shower. Nice quiet garden setting. There is no wash basin in the bathroom, so you have to clean your teeth and wash your hands in the kitchen sink. Not hygienic. No portable hot plate to cook on, and far too many does, don'ts and rules.
- Devonshire (10/5): - It was lovely and quite. Nicely set out. Beautiful place to sleep Not enough towels for 2 people for 3 nights. But if we where holidaying and not working it would have been okay with only 4 towels.
- Catherine (8/5): -
- Sharon (9/5): Cute and very clean studio - Very cute little studio No parking apart from street
- Jessie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Cute self contained space - The Unit was super clean, easy to check in and the bed super comfy
- Neemia (10/5): Excellent - We had a little bit of change of plans but host was super understandable so thank you so much Kelly for and you have a lovely home as well very neat
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely decor, very cosy with electric blankets and heater. Compact, but has everything you would need for a single/couple. Super clean and was a pleasure to stay.
- Jennifer (10/5): Cleaner than a motel! - I LOVE how clean it was, no cobwebs, no leftover droplets or streaks in the shower, and no dusty window sills. 11/10 for cleanliness!
Bed was super comfy, unit was bright an homely, host left little treats, super easy check in. Theres also a dehumidifier, but would be good if some instructions were stuck to it because I had no idea how to use it 😅. With no heater on overnight, its super cold getting out of bed in the morning.
Fan in bathroom bangs in the wind.
- Scott (9/5): Great place to stay. Will be booking my next holiday in the Hawkes Bay here. - Clean and tidy, well-appointed with good furniture and a comfy bed. Only a short walk into Hastings CBD and New World.
- Danny (9/5): Cosy and Comfortable - Very cosy and extremely comfortable bed No basin in the bathroom.
- Hollie (10/5): Exceptional -

- Libbie (9/5): Superb - Comfy bed, close to all amenities, very clean and tidy. Kelly is really easy to deal with and any comms are responded to super quick No complaints at all!
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant - Great location
Very comfortable bed , lovely decor , clean and tidy Didn’t like having to park on the road
Didn’t like not having a handbasin in the bathroom ,think having air conditioning in the room would be much better than having 3 different types of heating/cooling fans that weren’t that effective, and limited space for them .
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
- Lee (8/5): Very good - I had to park my vehicle on the roadside. With a van full of tools this is not ideal.
- Evan (10/5): Comfortable and relaxing. - Nice quiet spot, great little studio. The bed was incredibly comfortable!
Everything i needed was there. Lynne was also very kind and helpful in making sure i was good to go. Would definately come and stay again in the future.
- Carla (8/5): Very good - Magnolia studio was perfect for what we needed for our night away. The studio was clean and tidy bed was comfy.
Communication with host was great.
Thanks
- Ai (7/5): I enjoyed staying there. - It is private, and quiet if you want to have a low key weekend away. There isn’t a sink in the bathroom- I wear contact lenses and it made it a bit difficult wearing them in the morning not having a sink. And bathroom makes a lot of noises when you use the toilet.
- Rob (6/5): Pleasant -
- Andrew (8/5): Overall it suited most of my needs. - Overall pretty much everything was good.
Bed was really comfortable, shower nice and location ideal for me. Having no basin in the shower/toilet area. Didn’t like washing my hands in kitchen sink.
The listing showed parking was available but this was only street parking, may have chosen somewhere else if I’d known.
- Temaleti (10/5): Wonderful! - It was such a cute and cozy studio. Very clean and new! Didn’t feel like I needed to sanitise everything before unpacking. We really enjoyed this little studio Nothing - the only thing I’d probably suggest to anyone staying here is pack your clothes in a duffel bag as the drive way is made of unsealed gravel and we had to carry our big heavy suitcases down the long driveway because we couldn’t wheel it down and it was a pain in the butt 😅😂
- Tanya (10/5): Gorgeous studio, homely and comfortable - Everything that was needed for a one night stay. Comfy bed, great shower, clean and well appointed.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eliaquim (8/5): “It’s a modern , cozy, clean place at Hastings.” -
- Catherine (10/5): Lovely quiet stay thank you - Easy to find. Nice and quiet and very comfortable
- Ingrid (7/5): The Wifi factor affected our enjoyment of the property. - Nice central location. Close to my family in Havelock North and within easy reach to Hastings CBD and Napier.
The owner was forthcoming in dealing with our problems and discounted us for the stay which we appreciated. Unfortunately the WiFi/TV was not working the first two nights of our stay, but was fixed for the third night. This affected the scoring of the property for us. The decor was tasteful, but we felt not having a washing basin in the bathroom was not so good and the waste system pump was annoying.
- Libbie (9/5): Safe, secure, comfy and clean :) - Comfiest bed I've slept in in a long time. Communication amazing, as always! Super tidy. Everything has been thought off! I shall definitely be back :) Cockroach sneaked in through an open window, YUCK! My fault for leaving the window open, no reflection against the property or owner :)
- Tina (9/5): Superb - Beautifully done. Comfortable bed. Internet was patchy. TV wouldn't stay connected so couldn't use it.
- Natalia (9/5): Perfect stay for a night away. - Loved the way the studio has been made to feel like a little oasis and great location with an easy walk into town.
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (7/5): Nice. But probably wouldn’t rebook for those two reasons. - Location was perfect for us.
Super cute/stylish and clean. When booking we didn’t realise there was no off street parking.
Was disappointed in that.
The bed was made beautifully but too soft.
- Ritu (1/5): Bad experience - It’s was a bad experience after spending that much amount of money. No power, wifi didn’t working , neighbours noisy. Didn’t expect this. Not recommended to anyone.
- Ruth (7/5): Lovely self-contained unit with lots of nice touches. - It was beautifully decorated and very comfortable with lots of nice touches like an iron and ironing board. The bed was extremely comfortable with lovely bed linen. The macerator for the toilet/shower was very noisy. Perhaps it could be boxed in? It would have been nice to have a basin in the bathroom. We were traveling for work so my partner had to shave in the kitchen sink.
- Ann (10/5): Cosy getaway - Lovely peaceful location, comfortable and cozy, helpful courteous hosts. Very enjoyable one night stopover, would recommend to others.
- Libbie (9/5): Outstanding - Communication with Kelly was excellent, super speedy as I've experienced before. The bed is so super comfy, pillows are very luxurious. Everything I could ask for was included. Also thank you for the mini packets of biscuits, they were a real treat :) It was freezing whilst I was there, I understand this is completely out of Kelly's control but the room didn't feel like it warmed up much even with the heater on.
- Steve (9/5): Superb - Beautiful and the bed was really comfortable!
- Ruiha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Libbie (10/5): Exceptional - Comfy bed, exceptionally clean room, instructions super clear, correspondence was actioned promptly. I liked everything 🙂
- Stacey (9/5): Superb - The place was beautiful. Perfect. The internet kept on going in and out of service. I ended up turning it off 😬 and there was only half a roll of toilet paper so I had to buy some.
- Tash (7/5): Comfortable and affordable - Nice clean facilities comfy bed very reasonable procing Sky tv would have been great
- Theresa (9/5): Perfect weekend getaway - Our host was so friendly and helpful. We were impressed by the delightful and very comfortable unit. Perfect weekend getaway
- William (8/5): Very good - Very clean and tidy. Well furnished No hand basin a bit of an oversight in bathroom. Only issue
- Carl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Niranjan (10/5): Exceptional -

- Laura (10/5): Overall enjoyed staying at the Magnolia Studio. It was a well thought out little studio. - Location was great. The bed was comfy and the amenities provided were perfect for one night. The accomodation was really close to Havelock North which was a nice spot for meals. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
- Mahla (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (9/5): Superb - Note there is only one studio at this venue. We were warmly greeted by owner Kelly, the studio was small and cosy, very clean and comfortable. We would use this venue again and recommend it to you.
- Jhoanna (10/5): Exceptional - Really clean and tidy room, really nice place to stay Nothing
- Sister (4/5): This place was booked by a third party, expected a hotel complex -
- Kath (8/5): Very good - Lovely comfortable bed Wifi was a bit patchy
- Heiko (9/5): Superb - Tomatoes in the Garden and safe parking have been important to us, plus very clean place. Easy to find and as per description. Will be back and good reply on the hair dryer that was missing and will be there for the next visitor.;-) n/a

Absolutely beautiful, clean place, decorated lovely, has everything you need, good location, easy access, simple descriptions. Was very very happy and could have easily stayed a whole week if I had the time.
- Martin (9/5): Quiet and comfortable - Host very helpful, especially when I was delayed and arrived quite late. Good instructions for accessing the property, and a very good information booklet inside. Quiet and peaceful location, but not far to go into town. Very comfortable bed and a good shower. It was all pretty good.
- Nick (9/5): Superb - The self contained unit and the proximity to the centre. Well within walking distance
- Vegard (8/5): Home cosy in a fantastic bed - Spotless and feeling of everything being brand new Not much, really. But in an ideal world the shower would also include a sink
- Katie (10/5): 10/10 will book again! - great linen and bedding, extremely tidy and the owner was very helpful and accomodating. The shower pressure was fantastic and it felt just like home!
