Guest Reviews
- Muhammed fairoos (10/5): - No electricity
- Agnieszka (1/5): Scam - Totally scam! I’ve booking this property for a Christmas. After we arrive on the place turns out the property it’s not for renting for a winter time! Why it was available on the Booking? We lost fuel, time and Christmas Day ! Horrible Owner was very rude when informed us after arriving, property it’s not available. He even didn’t want to help and this was his fault because he wasn’t informed Booking it’s not off when it’s winter time. Horrible service, awful guy and place to
- Kelly (10/5): Lovely and isolated which is why we booked this stay - The house was clean and comfortable! The host was lovely and welcoming! Couldn’t do enough for us! There was no electricity we can knowing in advance! And it really didn’t affect the stay as we took a charge bank!
- graham (9/5): We had a lovely 2 nights, Margaret was lovely and very welcoming, plus it’s a great area for discovering - Quirky, we knew the property wasn’t connected for electricity so we went armed with everything we could think of, so the lack of power didn’t cause us any issues. We loved the bath, lots of hot water. Our dog was well catered for also both with safety issues and acceptance. Also the bed is amazing. I loved the property so not a lot to say on this one.
- Françoise (8/5): - Cosy chaleureux super accueil Pas?de possibilite pour recharger le tel. Ennuyant lorsquon voyage

- Mercedes (8/5): Great for a romantic getaway. Bring portable chargers! - It was cosy and very comfortable. Lots of little “home comforts”, extra blankets, hot water bottles, (we didn’t need them but it was nice to see they were offered). It was quirky making a brew using the old style kettle on the stove, and the free standing bath tub was lovely. We stayed out late into the evening playing cards on the veranda and it was lovely to wake up in the morning open the curtains and look out into at the field views. We wasn’t aware there was no electricity and we only figured this out around 10pm when it started going dark and we wanted to charge our phones. We put the car on and charged our phones in the car (otherwise we’d have no access to phones in an emergency), and we used the headlights to continue playing cards! It was actually very funny and unexpectedly romantic (always make the best out of every situation!). If we knew there was no electricity we would’ve planned ahead and bought our portable chargers. Other than this it was a refreshing break to be “off grid”.

- Roderick (1/5): Most awful place I have rented on booking .com - Nothing. It’s a dump. Ripoff owners. The owner lied about the fact it had no mains electricity which wasn’t mentioned in the listing and photos of the place showed electric sockets. They sent me a robo-message stating this and I responded I needed power to charge my electric bike. They didnt respond for 22 hours until 3pm on day of check in.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - The location is great. The host was lovely really welcoming. We attended a concert in Llangollen, so we crossed the horse pass, and the views and whole area are amazing Needs brighter lights in the kitchen area
- Adrian (8/5): Very good -
- Dean (1/5): Bad - Only found out after booking via the Owners that this place DOESN'T have Mains electricity! When I queried this with them they informed me that it stated this in the Advert however I couldn't find any such detail. Upon requesting them to point out where it states this I have since been ignored. Interestingly the pictures show electrical wall sockets and side lamps which are obviously not working. Additionally if you read some of the reviews you'll notice other people have also been caught out by this to their surprise!
Needless to say refusing to Refund so I will be seeking Legal Advice!
If your advertising your property that doesn't have electricity you need to be clear and not mislead people just for a sale!
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darren (10/5): A Wonderful and Pleasurable place to stay. - On arrival we were treated with warmth and kindness from the Wonderful owner. The Owner "Margaret" was so Comfortable to interact with and it was a Joy to Speak to her. It was such a pleasure to stay at her fantastic lodge and treated like Royalty we will definitely Return with out Question. Honestly, there was Nothing to dislike, it was so rewarding to stay at the secret hideaway...we would do it again in a heartbeat....it was a pleasure to stay at this fantastic lodge.
- Andy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (8/5): Very good -
- Irene (7/5): Good - Location , welcoming, No electricity, place was very cluttered
- Margaret (8/5): Very good - It was so unusual, really fun
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - Margaret was a lovely host and very friendly. It's a really nice place to stay and a bit quirky. The outside area is lovely and not overlooked. There's a fab bathtub which was much appreciated after a long day's hiking and plenty of hot water. Margaret left us with supplies for breakfast as well as some snacks which was really kind. It's a bit tricky to find and was a good half an hour from the offas dyke path but Margaret was very kind and picked us up.
There's no electricity but if you're prepared for this then it really doesn't matter especially for one night. There are some candles and lights but it might help to also bring a torch.
- Ian (5/5): Pass - No electricity
- Jen (8/5): Amazing location, warm welcome, no power ☺️ - Amazing location. Super warm welcome from the host. Bit surprised there was no power as wasn’t expecting it - but didn’t impact our stay as we were out all evening.
- Mrs (8/5): Perfect for my one night stay while walking Offa’s Dyke. Friendly , helpful host . -
