• Claudia (10/5): perfect stay for those who want to relax and for those who want to do water sports such as Kitesurf. - very welcoming and helpful manager and staff. fantastic location on the beach, from the bed in the morning you can see the sunrise over the sea. very rich breakfast with many choices (I took: a very good fresh fruit juice, fruit salad, cappuccino, pancakes with peanut butter).
• Robertas (1/5): Never again!!! - Breakfast is good, and the coffee is tasty, but only when there’s electricity. When there’s no electricity, the breakfast options become very limited. You won’t get juice or coffee, and the tea selection is reduced to just one type — not even basic black or green tea was offered. If you enjoy sleeping on a hard mattress, that’s a plus. Beyond that, I can’t say anything good about this place. First of all, the owner is extremely unpleasant and seems to live in a world of her own rules. The staff appear very tense, almost as if they are working under harsh conditions, creating a constant sense of unease. Secondly, and most importantly, something that is not mentioned on their listing is that they do not have a power generator. As a result, most of the time, there is no electricity or water on the premises. Due to this, we ended our stay after just two nights. The owner blatantly lied about when the electricity would return and refused to refund us. We had to contact Booking.com, explain the situation, and eventually got a partial refund through them. The cleanliness and hygiene here are seriously lacking, primarily because of the frequent lack of water and electricity. Additionally, the inner courtyard is surrounded by several large garbage dumps that are not separated from the living area. The view and smell are extremely unpleasant. At night, it is necessary to keep the doors closed because rats run around the building. There are also serious concerns about the hygiene of the café’s food. Old freezers are placed in shared spaces where anyone can open them. Access to private rooms requires climbing steep stairs that resemble a ladder, making it a very dangerous place. As for the beach and the sea in this area, they are far from appealing. The seabed is soft and muddy, and the sand on the beach is dirty—probably the worst beach I have seen in Zanzibar. To end on a lighter note, there is no electricity, no water, but you can purchase water from the café for $2 per bottle, even though the standard price at other hotels is $1. I would advise the owner to try being more pleasant, learn how to compromise, and realize that much better accommodations can be found for a similar price. Also, stop claiming that your breakfast is worth $10 just because you set the price that high—it’s really worth $2–$4 at best.
• Daniel (10/5): Dream Location Right on the Beach - Coconuts Bandas is located right on the beach. The whole team is very friendly and works hard to make your stay special. The included breakfast is freshly prepared and delicious. The shared bathroom is clean and well maintained. There is a Kite school, a restaurant, and a lil Spa and boutique. Team is very helpful with organizing transport and activities like swimming with dolphins, BBQ on a small white sandbank, snorkeling, shopping tours. It is all these little things making a stay at Coconuts Bandas very special and priceless. Big value for money. Nothing
• Anne (10/5): Perfect place to relax! - I stayed 2 nights at Coconuts Bandas which is such a lovely place right on the beach of Jambiani. Breakfast is served in the little restaurant that belongs to the accommodation with cozy sofas and great atmosphere.The breakfast was great with different options, i had lunch and dinner there as well, everything freshly homemade cooked with many vegan options. The staff was very friendly and gave me recommendations for the area plus they helped me to arrange a taxi. Wake up and take a long walk on the beach at sunrise, you will definitely enjoy this beautiful spot. Highly recommended:)
• Alessandra (10/5): Wonderful stay - nice and clean basic accommodation, amazing beach! all rooms are first line, excellent restaurant/bar closeby and part of the property, watersports center available and with great quality equipment, all for a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is perfect for a barefoot holiday! Very recommended!
• Melanie (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed in the loft accommodation which has a huge comfy bed and it's very cozy. The accommodation is straight on the beach, the restaurant has a lot of food choices and is always serving food. Breakfast was very good and the coffee amazing. It is an excellent accommodation choice if you want a chilled vibe, being on the beach, for a good price. The staff is wonderful and they always try their best to help out with anything. Definitely recommended!
