Guest Reviews
- Karim (1/5): Not great at all - Room was relatively clean and comfortable No security smart lock door didnt work bathroom dirty and no support out of hours despite the fact i just checked in
- Przemysław (9/5): - Clean, good value for the price A little cramped
- Teklit Markos (8/5): -
- Guest (1/5): Not good. - On arrival the room was not clean, stains on the sheets and furnature, pubic hair on the bed. Attempted to cancel the 5 night stay, was ignored, couldn’t contact the owner. Had to book another hotel, still haven’t received my money back.
- Darren (10/5): - The house is floor less close to town and takeaways and shops perfectly cleaned by Patricia and anything I needed help with she was there 24/7 just make sure u don't ring the London number given The management service that runs the house is diabolical the internet went down fir 3 days they didn't repair this luckily I knew how so I fixed it they asked me to move rooms and didn't refund anything money wise as the room I was in was a double and moved to a cheaper room a single and when I went to rebook for the same length of time I've stayed and the price had increased by over £100 and when I asked them they gave a lame answer saying booking.com had put the price up so if u stay here don't call them as ull get excuses after excuse
- Andreas (8/5): Very good - This was my second stay at the property in Barnsley. As someone who travels frequently, I’m always looking for accommodation near the city center that offers the flexibility to prepare my own meals, and this place ticks many of those boxes.
The property is clean and functional, with a TV in each bedroom as well as in the shared kitchen. Although the kitchen is compact, it is well-equipped with everything needed for basic meal preparation. Each room has its own designated fridge and cupboard space, which makes storing and accessing personal items convenient.
Location-wise, it’s well-situated—only a 5-minute drive or a 15-minute walk from the city center. While traffic noise can occasionally be heard, it’s not excessive.
One positive aspect of the experience is the professional communication. The property management is available via text and responds quickly if any issues arise. During my second visit, I had difficulty accessing the property using the door code, and they responded promptly to assist, which I appreciated.
However, I did find the door code system to be somewhat inconvenient. Although it's secure, the codes are lengthy and cannot be customized. This means that every time you leave your room—for the kitchen, bathroom, or to exit the property—you’ll need to have your phone or a note with the codes on hand. Realistically, most guests won’t easily remember two long codes (one for the front door and another for the room), which can be frustrating if you're momentarily locked out. The property could also benefit from general maintenance and more consistent cleaning of shared spaces. The backyard, for instance, could be made more usable with the simple addition of a chair or bench. Shared areas such as the kitchen and bathroom depend heavily on the habits of other guests, which can affect the experience. For example, during a previous stay, kitchen pans were often left dirty by another guest, limiting access for others and requiring extra cleaning.
Clean towels were provided at check-in both times I stayed, but were not changed during the week-long stays. I ended up washing them myself, along with taking out the bins and cleaning shared spaces. While this is not a hotel, a basic level of upkeep—like towel refreshes and bin emptying every few days—would elevate the guest experience.
That said, I want to emphasize that this feedback is offered in the spirit of constructive improvement. I genuinely enjoy staying at this property, having chosen it for two consecutive summers, and will definitely consider it again in the future. Its location, amenities, and responsive communication make it a strong option for short-term stays.
- Darren (10/5): - As said the place is floor less Patricia the cleaner awesome the management company rubbish The management company absolute joke
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and spotlessly clean. Bed very comfortable and our room 4 was nice and fresh. We slept very well, excellent value, thank you.
- Boylen (7/5): Lovely change of scenery, museum 's, lovely Alhambra, square, lovely MetroDome market on Wednesday r - We are after walking/ visit to around national park . Took our own air fryer ,lots of cutlery/ towels /soaps. Really nice break. Thank you. Chatted with gentleman staying there.we laughed a lot. Met lots in MetroDome, staff,. Explained where we were from, also at polish store, good bargains there, ( just around corner). Also at another further up road.Their lovely ice cream, left some for Barry. Stairs were pretty steep. Only negative is the Mattress, in No 2 room. Very bony. I suggest you invest in a deeper 23 " mattress. There are a lot of on- line do these.I guess from the depth of yours it is quite old. Also I like cotton sheets. As the temp, of the whole apt, is very warm. I shall bring my own sheets and duvet cover, whenever. As we are from high north/ fell,/ moor we are used to cooler room.Of course window and door kept open. For air. Thank you.Little things don't bother us much,. We accept what life brings. But I just suggest all lthese factors.
- Scott (8/5): Very good - the property is very clean the kitchen is very nice the room and bathroom is very spacious My only concerns are the WiFi signal is very bad in room 3 keeps on losing connection when trying to send emails also the wardrobe door needs fixing at the bottom looks like screw's are missing
- Raj (9/5): Superb - Good value for money.

- Bruno (1/5): 1 out of 10... very bad - Nothing I didn't get to spend any one of the 3 nights at Tropicana house due to guests in room 2 chain locking the door. The cleaner apologised and said she had to call the police. There were 4 people in a room meant for 2 people.I demand my £90 back
- Daniel (7/5): Good - The place was very clean The microwave didn't work for the entire duration of my stay and when I tried to tell the owners they just didn't seem interested.

- Mackay (7/5): Good - Clean and comfortable Codes
- Khumbulani (1/5): Bad -
- Oladotun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Greg (3/5): Poor -
- Glenn (5/5): More like Hotel Paradiso.... - Tropicana house had a workable kitchen and each resident had their own fridge, an absolute must as the place has 3 double bedrooms and a single so up to 7 residents at a time. The shower was spacious, hot and powerful. The property management team is not local, so problems are not resolved very easily, and communication was poor. The heating was sporadic, to say the least, essentially heating was withheld due to previous residents running up a high heating bill. Also, each bedroom has a coded lock rather than a key, this didn't feel secure and I was anxious about leaving my possessions while working.
- Nnaemeka (1/5): Bad -
- Raj (7/5): Tropicana house - Cheap, good value for money. Kitchen facilities were handy. Near town centre, very conveniently located. Was.made to change rooms a couple of times during the stay. So re-packing and unpacking was indeed the last thing I wanted to do. The beds were uncomfortable with the springs.
- Barry (5/5): Passable - Despite several requests No toilet roll appeared in the bathroom all week
- Justina (8/5): Good place for a last minute stay - The room was nice. It had a comforting and peaceful vibe to it. We felt very secure and private within our room. The parking was easy - being on a road only a 30 second walk to the house. The cups & plates were a nice touch to the room (very useful). Maybe some cutlery would’ve been an extra bonus. Well decorated and furnished. Overall it was great. They were some slight damage in places. It was also very cold, the radiator didn’t work for us. 2 of the lights in the room didn’t work. The sensor light on the stairs was very sensitive, it comes on when you least want it. No toilet paper - so bring your own. Overall you get what you pay for at the end.
- Gutridge (9/5): nice clean cosy room shower spot on just exactly what ya need for working away - clean room someone trying to get into my room at 2am
- Nichola (6/5): Pleasant - like the kitchen useful to cook and lovely kitchen the stairs too deep and extra for upstairs to Attic to the bedroom
I have reported to the staff about the room was so cold as the heating in the room was not working we had to wait but they never turn up to sort it out
