Guest Reviews
- Yvonne (10/5): fantastic little place -
- Susan (9/5): - Great location, close to everything we wanted to do.
- Thompson (6/5): - The bed was comfy and shower was great. The yard was'nt clean, fridge on the floor and small, no plug in wash basin, no room for our clothes, wardrobe small, toaster dirty,so did'nt use it,wouls have liked another small table in lounge for coffee cup.Rug slipped under foot which was dangerous.
- Kerry (8/5): Clean and central, good for your dog with the enclosed courtyard. Be prepared 2 walk up & down hills - The location was good. My main concern was for parking. The host left parking passes to enable us to park in the street. The parking is in zone areas. This was zone W. We always managed to find a spot to park, however, I can imagine in high season it could be more difficult. Saying that though, there are very few parking spaces reserved in that area, and indeed, Whitby at all.
You can reach the back of the property via a back single road access that runs through the block of houses in a cross shape. We drove a WV T6 camper, it was certainly very tight in places, but we did manage to get through, anything any bigger and you would struggle. But there is also the possibility of parking and walking in.
The property has been renovated nicely, and the courtyard was ideal for our dog. The weather was good, so we left the patio door entrance open, as the courtyard was secure. The property next door had access, and did leave their gate open, which was annoying, however, I blocked it with a stone that could be removed either side.
The bathroom is lovely, and I would think that it was renovated approximately 2 years ago or so. Bedding was clean, as were the towels. The grill could have been cleaner, so we used the frying pan instead. There was provided some oil, washing up liquid, a washing machine (we didn’t use), hand soap, washing up sponge and towels.
The wardrobe was a rail, which was ok for our 3 night stay, but for longer, may be a bit small. There was a good set of drawers and bedside cabinets.
It was warm and comfortable. It was very strange, as all rooms were in a line. You entered in the lounge/kitchen, to the right a storage cupboard with cleaning equipment, which needed a dustpan and brush maybe.
On the left was the bathroom, and then the bedroom. But you need to walk through the bathroom to get to the bedroom, with two doors either side of the bathroom. This meant that if someone else was using the bathroom, you couldn’t get into the bedroom. So a bit of planning was required in the morning.
The property also needed a USB port, so remember to take your own.
- Anna (7/5): Good location. The bins in alley a bit of an eyesore on arrival as some overflowing - It was clean and bright The sofa was a little to low for my husband with having Parkinson’s
- Sarah (7/5): - Very convenient location. Could do with a deep clean.
- bobby (10/5): WILL BE BACK EXCELLENT - THE PROPERTY IS ONE LEVEL NO STAIRS
SO VERY GOOD FOR A SMALL DOG AND A LOCKED YARD SO CAN KEEP THE DOOR OPEN AND THE DOG CAN NOT GET OUT BEDROOM FLOOR NEEDS LOOKED AT BUT NOTHING THAT GETS IN THE WAY OF YOUR STAY
BUT NOT A COMPLAINT IT WAS EXCELLENT THROUGH OUT . JUST NEEDS LOOKED AT BEFORE IT GETS WORSE.
- Sarah (5/5): -
- Margaret (10/5): Had a fab few days away. Will be back soon - Location was great and suited us great
- Philip (9/5): - Near to the centre, perfect outside area for the dog All good
- Hannah (10/5): -
- Peter (8/5): - Did not like ally way bit rough parking bad no near places
- Larisa (8/5): -
- Sue (10/5): Happy comfortable weekend away - Had everything we needed including an outside area for the dogs which was secure which is a big plus and why i chose this property My partner found it too far out from the town centre, but he needs to get fitter.
- Liam (8/5): -
- Charlotte (5/5): -
- lucie (9/5): lovley! - ideal location ,perfect to get on beach with our dog & into town ..lovedthenrw localbarr at the Royal Hotel ..we had a lovley 2 night stay, very cosy & warm..loved the little Christmas tree too..its rare to find somewhere with enclosed outdoor space which made my stay easier with my dog will definitely return & recommend ..host communicated very well. I personally would have struggled driving the car up the back alley to upload car bit snug but my partner was totally fine especially with road being blocked off he has to reverse out it wouldn't prevent me from staying again.
- Clint (1/5): Think before you pay. - Nothing, couldn't gain entry. Couldn't gain entry due to a bent key, standing in abysmal weather after a 4 hour drive. Host said, "not my problem. It will take an hour to get someone out , so park up somewhere." Try parking round there! More traffic wardens than cars. Didn't stay and went elsewhere. No wonder they don't refund.
- Mitchell (10/5): -
- samantha (6/5): Pleasant stay, great location, cosy property - Comfortable bed, good location, nice shower , think some of the negative comments about the mat and sofa are not justified, lovely property for a few days in great location The gate to another property was opened on our third night, this looked like the occupants of that property had opened it, it was closed the first three nights. This was only a problem due to having two dogs and thinking it was a secure yard. We did contact host who said it must have been window cleaner from before we arrived, however it was closed the previous three nights. We were also sent a contract to sign by host saying no noise after 10 and some clauses about us waiving any fault for personal injury or damage caused at the property and that we would pay for his solicitor, I contacted booking.com who said not to sign it and then I received a message from host saying it was an automated message and this would soon to be normal practice , the contract also said no noise after 10 but the house to the left were extremely loud and appeared to be having parties. The yard could do with some work, the wall has large parts of plaster coming off. This was made worse by a really heavy downpour during our stay , I would recommend a stay here for a few days but perhaps a lock on the gate preventing it being opened would be helpful , we didn’t feel unsafe just worried this could have caused issues with dogs.
- Nicola (9/5): excellent location - Excellent location, very comfy sofa and bed.
Good communication regarding the location and how to get in needs a deep clean and the duvet and pillows new renewing
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Dave (10/5): - Close proximity to everywhere local pubs/shops within walking distance. 10/10 Could do with a better tin opener....had to buy myself one while we were there..
- Jason (7/5): -
- Patricia (10/5): -
- Pat (10/5): loved it ! - Very easy to access the property. Owner sent key code for box prior to arrival A shower mat would have been nice as the shower floor is very slippery when wet. We had to put a towel in the shower to stand on to avoid slipping.
The Settee is very low...and slightly uncomfortable. As a slightly older disabled lady I did struggle with the Settee. There were a couple of cushions on the Settee....but they were very soft and provided no support, they were purely cosmetic.
Our stay was only 4 nights, it was tolerable, but think if it had been longer It would have caused me great pain.
When we were in for the evening after being out all day, it would have been nice to feel comfortable when sitting down with a glass of wine watching TV. 😪
The Freeview signal was very intermittent...although I realise this isn't the owners fault.
We had to ring the owner to ask how the heating worked...as it was chilly in little treasure on our first evening.
Owner was lovely and talked us through the instructions, evening ended up nice and warm.
But apart from the Settee issue, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Little Treasure 😁
- Dawn (10/5): Lovely little gem - Ideal little bolthole stop over for 2 nights. Comfy bed, secure little courtyard and nice modern shower room. Parking permit handy Friendly good communication hosts Needs a non slip shower mat, plug for sink in bathroom and a socket to plug in microwave . Entrance down a narrow back road, tight for car to drop off luggage
- Natasha (8/5): Lovely little home away from home! Perfect for a couple with a furry companion. - Clean and cute. Very comfortable bed and lovely big shower. Love the washer/dryer available also. Really could have done with a tv in the bedroom. Sofa in the room was too small for myself and my husband to get comfy on together so would have been lovely to be able to cuddle up in bed and watch something together after a long day out.
Also, the WiFi was terrible to begin with but this did then get resolved with an email containing a different WiFi that did work. Thank you!
- Eve (6/5): Mixed experience. - We loved having the privilege of a little private courtyard area for the dog. The bed was insanely comfy and the bed, kitchen and bathroom were spotlessly clean I had seen previous negative reviews regarding the rug but had seen the host had stated it had been recently cleaned before our stay. However this is not apparent at all, the rub was filthy- maybe it’s time to get a new one or get rid of the rug all together?
When we entered the apartment there was a strange smell, almost urine like which we assumed was from the rug. As well as this the flooring in the apartment has been very poorly laid and is coming up at various points in the apartment. As well as this some of the walls could’ve done with a lick of paint due to stains on the wall. All of these issues may not greatly impact your stay however with the price the hosts are charging I do believe these issues should be addressed as they do impact the overall look and experience of the apartment.
- Elliss (5/5): Little Treasure = Big Disappointment - Secure courtyard.
Good shower. Upon arriving at the property the floor had not been cleaned and the rug in the main living area is filthy. I had to mop the floor myself. Bedroom full of dust and cobwebs, headboard on the bed had not seen a damp cloth for months. Bedding stained. Dust balls everywhere so had to hoover too.
I notified the host of the issues and their response was that these were 'minor'. They did offer to send a cleaner round the next day but I had already done the cleaning myself! Looking at other reviews online and the reply from the host, they will no doubt not like my honest review and make more excuses.
The photos found online do not reflect the current condition of the accommodation. It is in desperate need of a deep clean and some TLC. Courtyard is full of weeds and the dirty doors are not very inviting.
So disappointed with accommodation when I paid £370 for 2 nights. Have been visiting Whitby for over 15 years and never stayed in somewhere so grubby.
- Joanne (7/5): - Apartment itself was nice and decent size. The entrance at rear not good. Sounded like we were near a hostel or something. Yard area needed good clean and patio door where you walk in was very dirty.
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andy (10/5): We had a lovely time would definitely stay again - Lovely place near the sea front down a back alley though so a bit hard to find Was great but not as pristine as the photos but still good says in brochure when you arrive no dogs on furniture or bed I would suggest throws included for couch as it’s hard to keep dogs of furniture if there allowed to at home
- Claire (10/5): Great little treasure - Great little treasure. Excellent location and everything you need for a quiet few days break.
- Natalie (8/5): Lovely place to stay for a weekend away. Great location with free parking. - Great location, only a 10 minute walk into the centre. Very quiet for a restful nights sleep. Would have liked a tv in the bedroom.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb - Great location Poor wifi
- Katherine (6/5): Lovely location, bonus was having free parking . - Location great Needed a deep clean , wasn't to my standards
- John (4/5): Disappointing - On arrival the location details made the accomodation extremely difficult to find. On entering the yard we were disappointed with the tidiness of it even although this has already been mentioned in past reviews nothing has been done about it and also the state of the door handle to get into the property, it looked as though the handle had been damaged. Inside the property first impressions were that it felt unclean, the rug was filthy, the decor bore absolutely no resemblance to what we had originally booked and there was no mention that you had to walk through the bathroom to get to the bedroom. There was a room at the end of the kitchen where you could see the vacuum cleaner and a Christmas tree, a door on here would be better. The kitchen could have done with a cutlery drawer rather than a cutlery tray being placed inside a cupboard. The sofa was far too low and felt dirty and again was totally different to that shown in the photos. The bedroom decor had also changed, which I hasten to add for the worse, a whole new portfolio on the accommodation needs to be updated. A small lack of attention to a door curtain that was far too short !! The thermostat on the wall that is no longer being used should have been removed and the new one put in its place. I do not expect to go away for a couple of nights to a worse place than my home and both myself and my husband feel that we have overpaid by at least 50,%. We have never complained about any other property that we have stayed in but feel that people should be warned what to expect, Little-absolutely, Treasure-absolutely NOT.. Alison Wilson
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - Nice little place to stay, for a few days. Liked that it was quiet, liked the help from the host, liked that a parking scratch card was provided for two days. It's up on the hill, but close to everything if you are fit enough to climb the hill every time 🙂
We didn't like the fact that they ask you to strip the bed and clean when you are leaving. We spent all morning cleaning to leave the place how we got it on arrival. ( They asking that with instructions of what to do, just a day before your arrival) 😞
Other than that, was a cute tiny place to stay.
- Stuart (7/5): Enjoyed it would go back - We enjoyed our stay at the property nice warm cosy great shower Stepping out in to backings ... backgarden needs abit of tls which would have made us feel a bit more on holiday 😊 tap not working stains on carpet was the first impression even tho we cover everything for dog and did love the property windows need cleaning blinds dusty
- Luke (9/5): Lovely place, with a secluded courtyard. - Great little place, all to yourself. Bed was very comfy. Felt nice and secluded. Perfect for the dog too. What else could you need? Could have been a little cleaner in some places. The rug was filthy, definitely time for a new one. But would 100% stay again.
- Kevan (8/5): Great - As before, it is great ,location ideal , tidy bed , great shower, and all the basics you need to spend a few days relaxing Nothing
- Linda (9/5): Will be staying there again - Loved the apartment. Comfy bed. Lovely walk in shower. Apartment was great for my dog. Host was brill emailing me information I requested before my arrival. Will definitely be going back.
- Vinod_karsondas (4/5): Could have been much better with a little bit of TLC and clean. - Good location Bathroom radiator was leaking, bathroom sink plug would not come up and needs fixing, outside yard needs a serious clean aswell as the windows and door entrance. Front room was very doggy smelling and sofa was really itchy as a result which made the stay uncomfortable and needs a regular wash. We have a dog which did not come with us, and even we struggled.
- Anne (7/5): Comfortable but not special. - Comfortable bed in a nice bedroom. Rather scruffy in the little yard outside. A light bulb had gone and the sink trap in the bathroom didn’t work. There was no door or curtain to hide the contents of the storage area off the kitchen which spoilt what otherwise would have been a nice room.
- Lucia (4/5): Disappointing - Location is very good and parking not a problem with parking card provided.
The apartment has comfortable bed and get nice and warm very quickly when the heating its on. Poor cleaning of the property in and out ...
- Julia (8/5): Lovely birthday stay in Whitby - When we arrived the key code given by booking.com didn’t work I called the office and spoke to Gary who quickly helped us and we got the keys with a different code thank you Nothing everything was good
- Cheryll (10/5): Little Treasure indeed! - Hosts were very professional
Location
Bed linens and towels smells so fresh!!!!!!!!!!
Comfortable bed
Clean
Spacious bathroom
Very good shower
Quiet area
Well equip kitchen
Free parking None
- Susan (9/5): Relaxing and enjoyable - Lovely cosy apartment. We were provided with a parking permit to park on the road. Clear instructions given on how to access the property and where to park.
- Elizabeth (6/5): Good location. Disappointing apartment particularly cleanliness - It was very convenient location There was definitely a smell of dogs once you enter the apartment. The floor rug was quite stained. We found quite a lot of the crockery, cutlery and pans needed washing before use as they hadnt been cleaned properly. Very difficult to identify which bin was for the property. The entrance to property is off putting with so many bins and so much rubbish nearby.
- Sinead (9/5): Superb -
- Hayley (8/5): Met our needs for this little get away with the dog 😊🐶 - Nice comfy sofa
Decent size tv
Comfy bed
Great big shower
It has a garden for the dog
Nice and warm with heating on
Free parking
Handy location for beach and shops
Hand soap already there to use 👌
Good communication from the owners Just a few minor things really.
The ally entrance was grubby and rubbish all over (not the owners fault)
Garden could do with a jet wash and brighten up
Odd lay out with bathroom in the middle of the rooms but I guess it's limited space.
The 2 keys could do with a way to tell them apart like a colour key cap so you know which is for the house and which is the garden key.
No welcome pack with milk for a cuppa
Over all, nice little place that's fit for our needs
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - Cosy and warm, great location and easy to park. Took a while to locate but got there with help from locals.
- Ryan (8/5): Decent stay - The location of the property was very good with just a short walk to the centre. We had all the facilities that we required. The property is not huge but was more than enough for 2 of us. Also has a secure garden for the dog to go out to. The bedroom got a little chilly but found once the heating was on and doors all left open it soon heated up. I think the shower would benefit from a shower mat as was quite slippy. We also had issue with bathroom tap but the guy came to fix it straight away which was good.
- Tim (9/5): Superb -
- Melanie (6/5): Basic and could be cleaner but good location - The location and outside area is excellent. No parking scratchcard had been left but communication with the host was faultless and this was sorted quickly. Very basic property acceptable for very short stay. The property was only “surface clean”. There was an old dusty sock under the bed. Under the bed was FILTHY and under the sofa cushions were smarties and other food. The fake plant on the dining table was also covered in dust. There was no bin liner in the bin (or made available) and there were no basic items like kitchen roll, tin foil, salt & pepper.
- Anne (9/5): Would stay again - Excellent location and comfortable accommodation Cold bedroom
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Kat (8/5): Exellent bolt hole for a whitby stay - Clean, comfortable and just right for a few nights away. Heating was ace, toasty warm. Great location and easy to park. There was nothing to dislike, perfect for a couple,
- Aimee (8/5): Great little cottage for couple, helpful hosts. - Close to the beach, affordable and good for what we needed. Only issue we had was the TV and remote wasn’t great - remote wouldn’t work properly (not sure if it was batteries) and couldn’t use all apps on TV (such as YouTube).
- Grace (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tina (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and perfect for parking and dog. Nothing
- Kevan (9/5): BRILLIANT - THE PROPERTY IS IN AN IDEAL LOCATION FOR THE BEACH AND THE TOWN. THE PROPERTY ITSELF IS IDEAL, THE BED REALLY COMFORTABLE, THE SHOWER BRILLIANT AND THE KITCHEN FACILITIES IDEAL FOR A SHORT STAY..There was only the 2 of us and I no people take pets so facilities are great for all. If people take pets try and keep them off the sofa and bed as pet hair sticks.
- David (4/5): Could be better - Good location, close to town. Parking okay, not sure what it would be like during summer season. Nice Internal space clean and tidy. Bed room, living area & shower good size. First impressions..... The entrance to the property is through a back alley lined with bins. Could do with a tidy around door, bin overflow and nettles removed before guest arrival. The courtyard needed sweeping, windows cleaning, maybe a periodical jet wash to remove algae growth. Agree with other reviews, the sofa is small, low and uncomfortable. Noisy with building works next door. Store room could do with a door, lessen noise from the house. Small details: Kettle could do with descaling, shower sealant mouldy in parts, unidentified solid object in freezer compartment and the portable appliance testing (PAT) ran out ten weeks ago!
- Joanna (8/5): Great location with free parking and good facilities - Nice comfy bed. Location perfect.
Parking convenient. Very nice shower room. Nice and private. Smelled damp when we first got there but that disappeared once the heating was on.
- Janet (8/5): Very good - Excellent location close to shops and the beach. We had noisy builders next door but understand places need overhauling.
The raised up storage room would benefit from a door of some kind to hide the hoover etc.
- Jackie (3/5): Poor - Location is brilliant and very comfortable bed We had 2 maintenance issues during our stay. First sorted in a few hours but we did have to delay our first night out. Second although very good maintainable man attended problem was not able to be resolved. Due to on going problem with the floor that had been a issue many times according to maintenance. Also kitchen walls very damp .Do have photos.
- Geoffers (7/5): Good -
- Hazel (7/5): Was a great stay, Little Treasue is lovely and we managed eventually to get a parking spot right outside the property. L - The shower was excellent and location very good. I think it has some damp issues. Our bed linen felt cold / damp on top which I think you need to check. We noted damp in the end room..
- Sean (10/5): Brilliant, we will be coming back - Close to everywhere. Private, quiet and dog friendly One small thing, the WiFi signal could have been better
- Geoffrey (8/5): Excellent location close to the beach and the sea front - The location The sofa is too low and too soft
The bedroom door does not close
We had to leave the property unlocked because the door mechanism was broken
- Keith (7/5): It was enjoyable and adequate for what we needed - Good parking facilities
Very nice bathroom The smell of dogs could have been handled better and the settee covered in dog hair
There was no hot water
there was a stain on the duvet
- Carol (8/5): Lovely stay - Very comfortable , lovely well contained apartment, everything you need there for a self sufficient stay, just lacks a little TLC, while we were there are lass weeded the garden and did a little cleaning, but she is slightly ocd, but over all a really nice place to stay, would definitely recommend, and would love to stay here again. Ps the bathroom is awesome Very, very slight upkeep issues, but by no means dirty at all, I just think overlooked little details
- Bori (10/5): Little gem - Great location, walking distance from all of the main parts of Whitby, comfy bed and lovely walk-in shower. Parking permit provided for free parking on surrounding roads.
Bonus point for being pet friendly, our little dog enjoyed her stay as well.
The host has been incredibly accommodating and helpful, we would definitely return.
- Katarina (8/5): Very good - Great location and you get a parking permit.
Nice courtyard for hot days when you want all doors and windows open No coffee or tea. Would be nice to have that and maybe basic salt and pepper.
Also there wasn't any cleaning supplies to clean/disinfect the sides and the table with, just a cloth.
- Richard (10/5): Super Little Treasure! - Lovely quiet apartment. Modern decor. Comfortable bed. Very close to the town. Parking convenient. Wifi was poor. Perhaps it needs an upgrade. Otherwise all great.
- Diana (4/5): We won't visit again - N/a The sofa was uncomfortable. The bathroom was inbetween the living area and bedroom
We left after 2 nights booked 4 nights because it was persistently raining
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (7/5): Good - Bedroom lovely and comfortable with nice linen . Cutlery was in drawer in a cupboard , small sofa for 2 people.
Would have been nice to have been left a couple of teabags or coffee, rather than the 4 sachets of milk .
Ok for max 2 nights but too small for any longer period.
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - Was very clean
Everything you needed
Loved the shower
Location was close to bars and restaurants short walk to beach Nothing
- King (8/5): Whitby Treasure - Very good location, near seafront with fairly short walk to harbour and town Entrance to the property was at the back and its pretty run down, although Little Treasure was clean and secure
- Mcewen (9/5): Superb -
- Davidson (8/5): Small and cosy - Bed was comfortable.
Great communication with the owner/agent. Difficult to find.
Nowhere to hang wet coats, maybe a couple of hooks in the utility area.
Some of the crockery and cutlery was dirty.
- Lisa (10/5): Cosy, great location, dog-friendly - We had a great stay at Little Treasure. It was perfect for myself, my husband and our two cavapoo dogs.
Although small, the property had everything we needed including a beautiful, cosy bedroom, large bathroom with new walk in shower, plenty of towels and toiletries provided too. The studio-style living area was plenty large enough with great access to the secure courtyard garden from the patio doors. It was lovely to be able to let the dogs roam freely without having to worry about putting them on a lead to let them out.
TV and Wifi worked fine and was adequate for our stay.
The location was really good and only a short 5 min walk to the centre of the town. We would stay at Little Treasure again. A pen would have been really useful to be able to write the registration number of our car on the parking permit. We didn't have a pen with us so had to park a little further away. Not a big issue though.
- Donna (9/5): We lived it. It was so comfy. Extremely private even though we was surrounded by property. - Lovely property. Well set out. Extremely comfortable bed. Everything you need for your stay. The only thing I found which is my opinion is that the bedroom could do with a curtain as with the light mornings and lighter evenings it can be a little bright in the bedroom.
- Anne (8/5): Really enjoyed it would definitely stay again. - Clean, peaceful and we’ll maintained property in a great location. Bathroom and bedroom beautifully furnished. Television didn’t work poor reception and handset not working.
- Lindsay (8/5): Very good - Bed so comfortable Dog hair on sofa
- Simpson (5/5): Passable - The accommodation is a lovely little apartment tucked away in a alley it's clean, modern & decorated lovely. PLEASE BE AWARE THERE IS DEFINITELY NOT A BATH IN THIS ACCOMMODATION.
MISS LEADING INFORMATION!!! my partner suffers with arthritis & a bath is an essential part of our preference when spending good hard earned money on time away . VERY DISAPPOINTED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT.
- Seago (9/5): Superb - Well situated in Whitby with enclosed yard. Clean and tidy. The property advertised a bath but there is no bath.
- Deborah (8/5): Perfect for couples on a few days away - Quiet and convenient location, warm and cosy, comfy bed, hot powerful shower, very clean, enclosed yard/garden. Good facilities. Free parking. Location down back alley which looks unappealing with wheelie bins and litter. WiFi is 4G and not landline so is poor and sporadic.
