Guest Reviews
- YI (8/5): - great location, within 30 min walking distance of major tourist attractions in the center of Rome city. Two bedrooms with large comfortable beds and sheets. Restaurants around the corner of the alley are very good. A grocery store is also around the corner. WiFi. works well. Check-in agent is very helpful communicating issues with apartment. The most inconvenient is having to keep kitchen faucet water running in order to get hot water for shower. And in such case, the bath water flow is too slow. The renting office could not fix it after contacting them.
The interior is older than the pictures show, which is okay considering the history of buildings. A new kettle was brought in to replace non usable one for our use after two days.
- Denizcan Yücesoy (10/5): Comfy but authentic apartment located in the heart of Roma - Comfy but authentic apartment located in the heart of Roma. Few steps from everywhere. Two bathrooms is great for families. Hot water was not available in showers.
- Jiawu (6/5): - Good location Cutleries are not washed
- Diane (10/5): The hostess and accommodations were perfect for our stay. Definitely would recommend! - I didn't get the memo on the breakfast!! I was unaware of that benefit, so I can't comment on that.
The location was AMAZING. The shops and restaurants around the corner were so nice. At night the lights were everywhere and the outdoor tables were full of happy people enjoying life. It was not far from the Pantheon and Piazza Novona. And the Compo del Fiori. There is also a small grocery store on the block.
Must try Mastroiaccia Osteria, the food was very good. And for shopping, Dolce Vita Rome, Ale Giordani is a new designer. The shopkeeper was delightful.
The apartment is spacious and clean. I loved that each room had a private beautiful clean bathroom. Be prepared to walk up 2 flights of beautiful marble stairs! There is no elevator. The building is very old, 1400's, so the plumbing doesn't allow for long showers! But who wants to waste time in there when you have Rome to explore!

Absolut empfehlenswert.
- Martyn Ashley Taylor (9/5): Enjoyable and a nice place to stay - Very spacious and good location. Shops and restaurants very close. Not noisy at night. all the main attractions are within reasonable walking distance. Nothing not to like but be aware that that there is no lift and so the stairs are the only way up to the second floor and heavy luggage needs an effort to take up. It didn't detract from the place.
- McNutt (10/5): -
- Quintin (10/5): Stay at Villa Agape - Very comfortable rooms, friendly staff, very very good food. Accommodation set in a beautiful and tranquil lansdscape. I would highly recommend this place to my family and friends. There was nothing I did not like.
- David (8/5): -
- Leonie (9/5): Great spot in centre of things but still very quiet so no traffic noise. - Great location. Stones throw from restaurants and good walk to both colloseum and Vatican. Comfortable beds in bedrooms. Very quiet despite the central location. Some dishes in the cupboard weren’t washed properly so we needed to re-wash. The sofa bed was a single. Better if it was a double.
- Rita (1/5): Filthy, unsanitary apartment NOT fit to be rented. Rude, threatening owner. - Location, spacious. The apartment is filthy. Totally unacceptable! The pillows had never been sanitized or replaced and were full of dna drool from many people. So disgusting! I complained and they did bring new pillows and pillow covers the 2nd day. We asked for more towels and I was told we each had 1 towel for the duration of our 4 night stay. We asked for bedding for the pull out couch and they brought 1 flat sheet, NO top sheet or clean sanitized blanket. The couch is very old, worn out and filthy. The furnishings are a weird mixture of old flea market findings and dirty. Every room is overcrowded and full of old, dirty personal items that have no place in a rental apartment. The kitchen is full of very old, used items. Overall the kitchen is unclean, we only used the refrigerator.
I had a question regarding the tax. I thought I had already paid it on line. I received this threatening message from the owner:
If you do not pay the tax now, I will advise the police and they will contact border control and have you removed!
I have attached pictures showing proof of what I have stated. This place should NEVER be rented to anyone in the condition it is in. Our stay in Rome was negatively impacted because of this place!
- Stephenson (10/5): - Great location and the owner was very communicative. Lovely apartment. Nothing was bad
- Prestifilippo (10/5): - It was very clean. The staff was excellent with helping us with getting in early to room, baggage storage (arrived 1 hour early 6 am)and hotel transfer. Petra stayed in touch throughout our trip helping along the way!
Location was excellent, easy walking to anywhere and even grocery pharmacy and taxi stand within a few steps. Thank you very much!

- andrew (9/5): Charming Apartment - We had a pleasant stay. The location was perfect. We walked everywhere every day. The hosts were super-friendly and welcoming. The beds were comfortable, and the air conditioners were quiet, which was amazing, as we had to survive 39°C heat. The apartment could benefit from a bit of TLC, and having a lock in the bathroom would be a bonus, but we loved the charm of this historic apartment.
- Adrian (10/5): Excellent - Location, size, check in/out. Comfort Loved it all
- Florent (10/5): - super emplacement, très bon accueil, bel appartement
- Moana (8/5): Excellent experience that would have been perfect if the provided facilities were fully functional. - Location was unbeatable. Central to everything and excellent for supermarket, public transport, and proximity to all the iconic landmarks and places of interest. The second bathroom shower was not operational and despite having a hairdryer present, it was taped off and unable to be used. The shower issue was a major inconvenience with 5 people staying. The hairdryer not being able to be used was a minor inconvenience but would have been useful if it could be used. The only suggestion for improvement is that for a multi day stay, fresh towels could be provided each day for the guests.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruane (10/5): Exceptional - The host and assistants went above and beyond with communication and making sure we were comfortable. They were excellent! Secured a car for us to transport to apartment and gave us suggestions were to eat, visit etc. I can't say enough about this place. It was excellent and we would stay again. Thank you to Luigi and his team for making our visit so special.
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Water pressure
- Christine (9/5): Great stay in Rome! Our host was excellent and kept in communication with us. - The location was excellent and the apartment very spacious and nice. We knew about the 40 steps so that was okay. Paper towels or hand towels in the kitchen would have been nice. The en-suite bathroom shower was very slow to drain but we got by.
- Odhran (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing couldn’t recommend the apartment and staff more
- Monika (10/5): Exceptional - Really nice apartment in very good location. Owner was really helpful. Really enjoyed our stay.
- Tania (8/5): Great location & excellent hosts - The location is brilliant. We walked everywhere - close proximity to key landmarks, restaurants, shops - just easy and taxi rank at the end of the lane. Apartment has everything you could need. Long time since I’ve used a whistling gas kettle 😊 Curtains in the bedroom on the street side would be great
- Louise (10/5): Fabulous accommodation in the centre of Rome. - This is a lovely property in a great location. Ideal for 2 couples or a family. Memory foam topped beds and comfy pillows meant we all slept well!
The host was great at communicating and we booked an airport transfer with them that was also great. We would definitely stay again. Nothing
- Jane (8/5): Great location in the old part of Rome - excellent hosts to make sure you have a great stay. - The location is fantastic - in the heart of the old part of the city and walkable to everything. We didn't need to use any form of transport other than walking for our whole stay - apart from getting there from the airport and a taxi to get bags to Rome Termini.
Luigi and Alessia were wonderful hosts - extremely welcoming and very informative. Luigi sent a great guide to things to do and where to eat ahead of our arrival via WhatsApp. He organised a transfer from the airport for us on arrival and both he and Alessia were very responsive to any questions we had throughout our stay.
I was traveling wth three tall adult sons - one used the sofa bed which was set up for our arrival and very comfortable.
There is a good supermarket (Pam) just a few doors down from the apartment and a laundry service across from the entrance (we used this and were very happy with the service). Many of the key TikTok eating spots (Frigidarium, Two Sizes and so on) are just around the corner from the apartment however Luigi's recommendations meant we found some great places that were less hectic (among them: Bar Amore and Forno Monteforte (best pizza bianca with mortadella we had - tried it a few times to make sure....) for breakfast ; Cesare in Pelligrino for a lovely dinner - head to Dar Poeta in Trastevere or Pizza Re near Piazza del Popolo for great pizza and value - 15 minute walks unless you get distracted en-route).
The apartment is well set up - it has a rustic charm and could do with some refreshing, however l believe the price point recognised this and we appreciated the location and general space as good value for the price we paid. With the understanding that this apartment is in an old apartment building in the old part of Rome the bathroom situation was the compromise of the apartment. The main bathroom (shower no bath) was fine, however the second bathroom which was en-suite was not great. You cannot have both the main and ensuite shower operating at the same time (there was an info sheet that explained that this is due to the difficulty with the plumbing in buildings of this type) and the lighting in the en-suite bathroom was so minimal that if you did want to use that shower you are virtually showering in the dark. There is no natural light or venitilation in either bathroom. It was good to have two toilets though.
- Ana (8/5): Very good -
- Michal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hannelie (5/5): Passable - Great location. Very good communication. No electric kettle. No warm water at the basin in the main bathroom. Lights not working in main bedroom. Dishes unpacked & dirty cutlery in the drawers. No washing machine as indicated in the listing they try to compensate by giving us 1 complimentary washing at laundromat. Internet was extremely slow or not working.
- Michael (10/5): Excellent large space in a location that is hard to beat. - Excellent location, very good price point. Large space which in a city centre can be hard to find. Good bathrooms and strong shower, again can be difficult to get a good shower either by size or water flow. Hosts were always attentive and fast to respond and helped us manage a difficult arrival due to a national strike by private transfer providers. Property is as you see it, could it be updated? Sure, but you get what you pay for and most likely like us you will only be using it as a base to go off for the day and somewhere to sleep. No lift, but an old building and no where to put one. Bedroom at front can be noisy from street below as windows are old and do not stop much of the noise, but again, an old building with limitations.
- Anne (8/5): Excellent location, property with character - Location was superb, we could walk to all the sights and lots of restaurants and shops on our doorstep.
Plenty of space (but we were two friends) and two bathrooms.
Communication excellent and quick responses.
Better value at November pricing (and the weather was still fabulous)
Secure with locks on downstairs doors. Looking a bit tired and needs some maintenance (for eg staining in bathroom, on doors, window latches, shutters etc)
Bedding was looking a bit tired
Some items not working such as dishwasher, kitchen table
Old plumbing so can’t have showers at same time (but this is a very old building so to be expected)
Noisy at the front from local restaurants and construction site
- Stefan (10/5): Perfect Location to discover Rome! - Perfect Location to discover Rome! Central location.
Clean apartment with everything we needed.
Thank you.
- Lindsey (9/5): Fantastic location with kind and helpful hosts - The communication before and during the stay was exceptional. They are very helpful and I was able to arrange a car for my family members to the airport easily via the host. The location is great for exploring Rome on foot and there are some nice restaurants and gelato spots very close to the apartment. It's nice to be able to stop back in the apartment for a quick rest during the day. This is one of the few apartments available with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which was exactly what we needed. The sofa bed was prepared for our 5th person on arrival and there were enough bath linens for everyone. The woman who met us at the apartment was friendly and made sure we knew how to work the AC and the Wifi. The AC worked well and was quiet. We had drainage issues in the second bathroom shower and sink as stated in another review, but we were still able to use it. There is a bit of maintenance needed in that bathroom for it to be perfect. The Wifi was slow at times.
- Roberto (8/5): Excellent Apartment in brilliant Location! - Excellent Location to all areas of Rome - Close to bars and restaurants - Fast and easy communication - Assisted us with all our requirements. Just a needs a little bit of TLC - maintenance and ensuring that things are working in the apartment. But were very quick in responding to our requests.
- Joanne (8/5): If it’s location you want. This is the place. - Location location location. It was amazing. Room not ready for check in. Did not have sheets for pullout and no dish towels. Hair dryer non functioning
- Saxon (8/5): Perfect location for a long weekend away! - Location was amazing Could do with a freshen up in terms of decoration and upkeep
- Elizabeth (5/5): Passable - Location Beds were very uncomfortable. Unit needs a good clean and declutter.
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (8/5): Great place to stay in Rome - The property is a great location, close to many bars and restaurants and a short walk to Piazza Navona and the Pantheon and bus stops. The apartment is in a lovely old building.
- Jorge (10/5): Beautiful, comfortable apartment in central location - We loved our stay at Governo Vecchio, very nice two bedroom, two bathroom apartment in very central location, close to trendy restaurants and bars and short walk to Piazza Novona and Pathenon. Highly recommend it for families. Air conditioning, block out shutters and TV in every room, good security and very responsive host. We didn’t find the apartment noisy considering how close we were to the action. Nothing
- Mandy (8/5): Very good - The location was fantastic, Mr Luigi and his team were very responsive and helpful throughout. His recommendations for nearby food and drink were very appreciated during the stay.
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Angela (6/5): We had a nice stay in Rome. I understand it is an old building but that is no excuse for dirty walls in bathrooms. - The location was great and the staff were attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. The AC worked well. The bathrooms were not clean. The shower in the ensuite could not be used as it did not drain. There was also significant mould build up. Consequently we had to use one shower for 5 people.
- Andrea (10/5): Wonderful Rome stay - We had the most incredible few days at Governo Vecchio. The location was the best and we were able to easily walk to all the sights. The apartment was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The air conditioning was excellent as it was a very hot few days in Rome as we stayed in July. The communication prior to the trip and whilst we were there was also wonderful and I really liked the information links that was sent to me too. We would absolutely stay here again. Noting at all!
- Kerry (9/5): Fantastic location, comfortable apartment, good value for money - Location
Size of rooms
Cleanliness
Air conditioning
Friendliness of host No electric kettle
Dim lighting in bedroom
Not enough sofa seating in lounge for 4 people
- Nicole (9/5): Great stay-would highly recommend! - Great location! Benedetta was so friendly, helpful and understanding. Would recommend! Lots of construction noise on a neighboring apartment.
- William (9/5): Fun neighborhood! Great communication with the staff. - Terrific location. The flat was very comfortable. Communication with the staff was excellent.
- Shira (10/5): Exceptional - Big apartment suitable for 6 people.
Located in the heart of Rome (we actually goes everywhere by foot)
The staff were very helpful and gave us a great recommendations.
The apartment is full equipped with everything we need .
- Buğra (10/5): Excellent location, staff. - Great location, great decoration. Very friendly staff. Small bathroom could use some repairs. Big bathroom has no problems.
- Giedrė (9/5): Superb -
- Orla (9/5): Superb -
- Plt (9/5): We had a great time and it was convenient to the center of Rome for walking. - The location was close to everything in central Rome and quiet at night
- Anthony (10/5): Great location and accomodation in the centre of Rome. - Great size and amenities for a family travelling to Rome. The hosts were incredible. Nothing was too much.
- Malgorzata (9/5): Superb -
- Desirae (9/5): Perfect location in city center with 5 star host and staff. - The location was amazing! The host and team were beyond helpful and accomidating. The building was very quiet for being in the middle of restaurants and bars. So many great food options right outside the door, 433, frigidarium and two sizes were our favorites. Luigi set up taxi service to and from the airport that made things so convienent for our family of 5 with small children. Internet was fast. I really appreciated not having to strip beds or have any kind of check out obligations/chores that so many short term rentals require of the guests lately. Very professional staff! The smaller bed was a little hard for my comfort level but my partner found it comfortable. That was my only problem.
- Philip (10/5): Everything you need for a perfect stay in Rome. - This is a delightful apartment in a superb location within 25 minutes walk of just about every historical area of Rome. It is scrupulously clean, beds are very comfortable and the decor is very tastefully done. Locally there are many excellent restaurants and 2 small supermarkets within 3 minutes walk. The communication from our host Luigi was excellent (many great recommendations for restaurants etc) and Alessia made sure everything we needed was taken care of. We booked airport transfers through Luigi which were punctual, very friendly (felt like a guided tour from the driver on the way in!) and good value. The apartment itself is great value, particularly for this location and we will definitely be coming back - coin safely thrown into the Trevi Fountain to ensure that! Electrics and hot water were a little quirky - but the building is 600 years old so to be expected!!
- Wenye (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): Everything was wonderful, location, space in apartment - Loved everything! There was no lift, but we knew ahead of time
- Sandie (10/5): Warm welcome, great location, beautiful, spacious and well equipped apartment - The apartment was beautiful; really spacious, high ceilings, interesting decor and very conveniently located close to lots of restaurants, cafes and shops. Most importantly as we stayed during a heatwave, the air conditioning was incredible and such a welcome relief after being out in the heat! Nothing
- Jennifer (10/5): We loved our stay here. - The location was exceptional. We loved being right off of via del governo vechio and right by piazza Navona. It was such a cute neighborhood that had a wonderful vibe. Check in was super easy and there was great communication about how to get to the place from the train station as well as good restaurants in the area. The apartment looked exactly like it did in the pictures. The beds were comfortable. My family of five was very comfortable at this place. I would highly recommend. Thanks for a great stay.
- Sára (10/5): Family trip - The accommodation was perfect. The apartment was big enough for 6 people. The location in the city center was great due to the proximity of most sights. Great communication with the host. We will definitely be happy to return on our next visit to Rome.
- Ruth (8/5): Very good - Traditional Italian apartment in a fantastic location near Piazza Navona. Clean and comfortable with great facilities, including 2 bathrooms. Plenty of useful information from the host regarding what to see and do and where to eat.
- Tennafay (10/5): Great location. Luisa, our apartment manager was very accommodating. - Fabulous location. Old world charm. Great host No washer! There is no washer even though it states there is in the description. When I was searching for apartments, I was specifically looking for an apartment with a washing machine.
- Afef (5/5): not too bad, a little expensive given though - the location and the historical building
it was like spending the night in a museum
Alessia who welcomed us was truly lovely and welcoming. thanks Alessia! the sheets were old even though clean
the bed sofa uncomfortable
we didn’t succeed to warm the water for shower
- Blanck (10/5): Great apartment in Rome - The location was great, staff was great. No washing machine
- Martin (10/5): Highly recommended - Great place at an amazing location!
- Amina (10/5): This is the perfect place to stay in Rome. please look no further, - Beautiful historic home in the most wonderful location, walking distance from the important sites. very responsive host who gave excellent local information and support. very comfortable beds , elegant furniture and excellent air conditioning and all amenities nothing
