Guest Reviews
- Ally Shewan (9/5): May Holiday Weekrnd - It was booked primarily for the number of beds and it delivered on that score.
It was situated within easy walking distance from virtually all of the local amenities. Nothing worth mentioning.
- Angela (10/5): it was a very lovely house, bedrooms are very modern. - I would say the kitchen could do with an upgrade - the rest of the house is very modern.
- tracie (9/5): Had a great stay very comfortable well equipped house - It was laid out really well plenty of space
- Lisa (9/5): Excellent stay! Will definitely return 🫶🏼🥰xx - Great location & decor lovely. Very homely. No instructions about heating system & how to turn this on - but did text owner & had a very prompt reply.
- Frances (10/5): We had a family get together in this lovely home - The house was comfortable and spacious, a very well equipped kitchen with more than enough crockery, cutlery etc A welcome booklet to explain how to use the central heating control. The house was lovely and warm but we couldn’t find a timer
- Richard (9/5): Great value place for big family weekend. -

- Kkupscyte (10/5): - Beautiful location, spacious house
- Elaine (6/5): - Location, nice sized bedrooms, good games room, plenty of dining space Layout - small kitchen and living room for the amount of people staying.
Toilet on middle floor shower not working (scalding hot water) - 11 of us using one shower took forever
Kitchen outdated and cooker not fully working
- sally (8/5): - All amenities as described, central location. Enough bedrooms to sleep all family members.
Quick response ad help from owners if any questions. Some areas in need of a bit of TLC - kitchen and bathrooms in particular.
Not a big lounge sitting area for size of property/party.
Difficult to work heating and TV's - manuals would have been better and saved sending questions to host.
- Dick (9/5): Quiet town lovely stay. - This house was lovely living room to the left as you walk in and dinning and kitchen to the right. Straight in is garden area down stair toilet and shower and spiral stair going up it’s a toilet bath and over bath shower. Keep going up the stairs is 5 bedrooms, 4 double and one single go up the stairs again is double with sofa bed and a single room and the games room. Everything was great he had a lovely family get away. I couldn’t get the internet to work and the owner was down with in 5mins and fixed it for us. There no down stairs room all room have stairs to get to them. My own fault for not checking.
Some of the beds are nosy
- Michaela (7/5): Perfect for our needs - very happy ! - We found the accommodation very comfortable. Inside was nice and clean and we had everything we needed. Our host was helpful and responsive to our needs. Location was fabulous for the Oyster Festival and for the town.
- Katy (10/5): Great place to stay with a big family - caters well for children - Every one of us had a room that suited our needs and the house catered so well for children. We had children ranging from ages 1 to 13 and the house was safe and fun for all of them. The games room is such a great addition to the property. There were 14 of us in total (9 adults and 5 children) and there was ample seating and plenty of towels etc for us all. From the outside you'd never guess how big the property was inside. The hosts were very communicative and easy to get a hold of. Even when there was a mix up with dates they were extremely co-operative and even gave us alternative options at a reduced rate which was very kind but not necessary. Thank you. The bathroom doors were a little sticky so we had a few occasions where we got stuck but there is a knack to opening them, which we soon learned, but we had to be careful when the kids were using it.

- Jason Coles (6/5): Disaponting. Needs more TLC and cleaning. - Good sized property and most rooms were of decent standard. Proximity to marina was good and shops/pubs etc. Nice area out back. Comfy beds. The place was filthy. Some very run down rooms and botched jobs to fix things. Not a lot of pots/pans etc in the kitchen. Questionable electrics and wiring. Half of the cooker didn't work properly. Wifi wasnt good. The external noise was unbearable at times with boy racers and seagulls all night. The sensor lights are not a good idea, go to the toilet in the middle of the night and a bright light switches on making you dazed....and wakes others up if they left their doors ajar to let some air into the rooms. The rubbish clearly hadn't been taken away before our stray so the bins in the back garden were stinking. Very run down back garden area, needs TLC. Could be miles better.
- David (8/5): Good experience and would recommend it to friends. - Location was good and the host was great didn't have any problems except for one half of the cooker not working however the air fryer and the rest of the house made up for it. Could have done with a hot tub. Otherwise it was ideal for the family.
- Catherine (6/5): We were disappointed but made the most of our stay. - Bedrooms were big and bed were clean and comfortable There was a huge hole in one of the ceilings that we were only told about on arrival. Many item of furniture were broken. I.e. child's chair in the games room and handles coming of drawers. The garden was awful an not child friendly. We had 4 children with us of which 2 were toddlers. There are nails sticking out of the decking and old seating set outside. The garden was unusable.
- Kay (8/5): We enjoyed our stay. Great situation. Good price. - the fig and olive cafe across the road was excellent. Henry's for an evening meal. Gillespie bakers across from house great tattie scones. wild swimming in Lady Bay, Castle Kennedy gardens. Need more seats in lounge, more glasses, hanging space in bedrooms.
- Billington (10/5): Brilliant location - Very spacious, had everything we needed for our stay
- Molloy (9/5): Superb - The bedrooms were all done to an excellent standard, the one I had was extremely comfortable. The kids particularly enjoyed the games room, The location was excellent within 3 minutes you were by the sea; which was fantastic for an evening stroll with dogs. I was there with an elderly person with some mobility issues. Therefore, just a small suggestion of putting another rail on the stairs so that there was extra support on the wider part of the spiral stairs. The bathroom down on the ground floor I would say was the only accessible bathroom for a shower. Did not affect the stay but a consideration of going with someone that has mobility issues.
- Gill (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely house. Beds very comfortable and lots of space to enjoy family birthday
- J (10/5): Exceptional - The house was beautiful and everything we needed was there. Originally from Stranraer so the visit was for my 60th birthday so was special.
- Stella (8/5): Very good -
- Patricia (9/5): Lovely family time in a very relaxing environment, be back soon ❤️🩷🧡 - Plenty of room for family members , loved the kids play room , all amenities at door step. Easy access to Main Street , beach , parks . Something for everyone ❤️ Nothing
- Amanda (10/5): Holly Jess Hoose - The house was much bigger than we thought and was perfect for our stay. It had all the amenities you could need and communication between the owner and me was excellent. The location was great and close to alot of amenities. Would definitely recommend. There were a couple of little niggles like handles coming off the furniture in bedrooms and radiator in bathroom became loose but other than that we found the property of great value for money. Would definitely stay again. On New Years Day, we drove to Port Patrick to watch the swimmers. Stunning scenery and great views at the top of the hill overlooking the sea.
- Ross (9/5): Superb -
- Lorraine (9/5): Fab house. Fab time. - Location was excellent
- Denise (10/5): Lorraine's 60th - very warm and cosy, plenty room, all rooms and decor were lovely, very central sofa bed wasn't comfortable and not enough bedding
not enough forks and cups, upstairs bathroom the shower leaked and we didn't feel safe with the back door, which was opened when we arrived .There was nowhere to hang clothes.
- Helen (10/5): Great stay ,hope to return one day - We loved everything about this property,it was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean .The kitchen was very well equipped .
The location was ideal for accessing beach
- Shirley (10/5): The property was like a home away from home. - The property was spacious, clean, warm and inviting. Excellent for a family group of 10.
- Sian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mcgirr (10/5): Lovely big modern house! Fab location! - The house was very spacious, great value for money and clean too. The location is central and 2 minutes from Agnew Park and the beach. Highly recommend this property.
- Marcia (10/5): Fantastic house in an ideal location to visit our family - Was a spacious house in an ideal location Personal preference there was no washing up bowl. I prefer to hand wash as I go.
- William (8/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at HolyJess Hoose. The children enjoyed the games room and the short walk to the lo - There was plenty of space for us all and the bedrooms were very comfortable. N/A
- Syed (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (10/5): beautiful spacious hidden gem - the house is amazing and in a great location. all bedrooms are huge, clean, tidy and modern. The common areas are lovely and comfortable and have everything you need. The accommodation was more than I expected for the price I paid. absolute hidden gem. we stayed as a family for a reunion and everyone loved the accommodation.
- Sandra (6/5): It was functional and did the job. It was in a good central location. The outdoor area was very disappointing. In genera - Central location. Bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen were functional and did the job. Plenty TVs in each room. The outdoor dining area’ was very poor. Concrete, messy and old rickety chairs. Needs time and money spent on it. There was a gym advertised, however this is false advertising. Instead there is a foosty/damp outbuilding with an unused mattress (gross) and a few weights lying around.
- Emma (8/5): Great stay - Fantastic size house for big parties. All bedrooms clean and comfortable beds. The outdoor space could use some tlc especially the drain from the kitchen sink.
- Tony (10/5): Exceptional -
