Guest Reviews
- Jan (7/5): A great place to stay for a large group, right in the heart of. Whitby. - The location was brilliant- only a short amble to the centre of Whitby. The road at the front of the house was very busy, but for a couple of nights we weren’t bothered by that.
The bedrooms were lovely - spacious and attractive. The bathrooms, too, were great - our only niggle was the lack of shower on the second floor. Again, for a short stay it didn’t matter.
The kitchen was well-equipped, and had plenty of space for food storage. The dining area was a great size. First impressions were really off-putting. The step outside the front door was littered with debris, bits of paper, etc, and the two planters were really unloved, with poorly (dead?) plants in them. When we first entered the house, it was extremely dark and musty, and there were items of post on the floor that were covered in dust and cobwebs, and seemed to have been there some time. Once we’d opened doors and windows, everything improved, but it might be worth considering how to make arrivals less disconcerting.
There were no towels on the top floor, but I left a message on the given helpline and towels were delivered the next morning.
There were conflicting messages about how to deal with linens on departure - one note asked for linens to be placed in bags in bedrooms, whilst another said to fold back the bedding on the beds. As there were no bags that we could find, we followed the second instruction.
Finally, the cupboard containing the vacuum cleaner, washing machine etc was very chaotic, and it was difficult to access.
