Guest Reviews
- Zoe (7/5): -
- Linda (7/5): Comfortable bed and great location -
- Michael (7/5): Had a lovely time and would definitely stay again - Location was amazing, short walk to the sea and easily drivable to other seaside towns, some lovely walks there too, local pub was very friendly and small shop was well stocked Property wasn’t as clean as I would of liked
- belk (9/5): Quaint cottage in great location. - Lovely quaint cottage house, perfect for a base.
Has everything you need for the stay. Great location
Peaceful, slept very comfortable and peaceful sleep. Local shop. would be happy to return. Could do with some maintenance here and there, bedroom radiator may be faulty. Otherwise I'm happy with the stay.
- Eric (9/5): - The kitchen, sitting room and bedrooms were all very comfortable while retaining the original cottage charm. The beds were very comfortable. The shower was difficult for somebody 6'4" and there were a few minor signs of neglect - freezer totally iced up, bathroom handle liable to fall off (reported years ago)
- Lucy (7/5): -
- Wayne (5/5): More remote than expected, but rewarded with stunning views - Nice village location, very quiet and short walk to beach, log burner keeps living room nice and warm and cosy, double bed very comfortable Cottage overall needs some love, some general maintenance issues and a deep clean would help, especially the carpets and small outdoor area
- Laura (5/5): -
- Michelle (7/5): - Close to a store, pub and train station Nothing I didn't like. But the cottage had some maintenance issues, toilet seat. Toilet door handle, bedroom lamps and plug for the radiator in the kitchen a little dangerous
- debbie (8/5): -
- matthew (8/5): -
- James (7/5): Would be amazing with a bit of maintenance - Lovely little cottage. Quiet, but convenient village. Perfect for a couples retreat. Advertised as having a washing machine but doesn't. Small repairs needed such as loose or broken door knobs, crack in log burner and no mirror in bathroom.
- Marice (6/5): - The location Quite cold as one of the plugs in the kitchen had melted, so the heater didn't work.
- Burns (9/5): Great little house in rural location. - House was in a great rural location with lovely village pub and local shop both within a minute's walk of the property. Loads of great walking routes and train station nearby.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Excellent -
- linda (8/5): Enjoyable - Good location No mirror in the bathroom
- Robert (9/5): Comfortable cosy and well equipped! - Clean, insanely comfortable bed! Well equipped. Log burner made it ultra cosy! I'm 6ft so struggled showering. With the ceiling height it is what it is. Just worth noting. Other than that it was perfect!
- Damian (10/5): -
- Peter (7/5): Cosy place in a quiet village with excellent access to North Wales/Snowdonia. Good pub and shop near - The location of the cottage is excellent with easy access to some of the most beautiful areas of Wales. There is a nice pub just 100 yards away, though the kitchen was being serviced during our stay so cannot vouch for the food quality. There is also a very wells stocked village shop next door. It's an easy and pleasant walk down to the beach (5 mins).
Beds are very comfortable.
There is frees parking about a minute's walk away.
Railway station a couple of minutes walk away giving access to Barmouth, Aberystwyth and beyond. Given it was January, it's no surprise that the house was cold on our arrival but once we were settled that wasn't a problem.
The front door opens out directly on to the road but it's not a busy one. You would have to be careful when leaving with dogs or small children. The traffic is pretty light and slow moving past the door so isn't a big issue.
- Sally (8/5): - The location was perfect, local shop, local pub, train station close.
- Prakash Neupane (10/5): - Bedroom The shower electric switch was not working.
Unable to take shower.
- mark (8/5): Enjoyable stay in good location good value for money - Good location comfortable bed and furniture Kitchen could have been cleaner
Logs should have been available on arrival
- Elizabeth (5/5): - Location. Size of cottage. Beds comfortable & clean Dirty & grubby downstairs- not cleaned properly
Tea towel in kitchen filthy & smelt offensive. Bin & bin area dirty. Kitchen floor & cupboard doors grubby. Kitchen sink & bathroom sink didn't drain properly.Toothpaste stains on bathroom floor. Fan didn't work in bathroom. Toilet seat loose. Shower head attached to fan with string.Shower door off rollers.Bath mat filthy. No mirror inbathroom.Bedside lights in one bedroom didn't work. Front room & landing window blinds broken. Landing lights didn't work.Plastic take away tub wedged behind wires in front room.Duvet covers weren't buttoned up !! No cleaning products available Moss made outside courtyard very slippery. No baking trays for oven.
Location basket had rubbish in it.
- Stephen (10/5): Fantastic little cottage in beautiful location - Loved the decor in the cottage the beds were so comfy. The village I fell in love with so close to the sea. The log burner was fab at night and the kitchen was amazing. Loved the whole cottage. Went to the local pub for dinner and it was one of the best meals I've had. Totally recommend this cottage wish we had booked an extra night or two. The only thing I would say was because we are a tall family the shower was a little small but considering everything was was excellent it did not spoil the holiday
- clare (7/5): - The location was great, lovely cottage. Little shop next door to the accommodation, lovely walk to the sea. George the III pub was amazing!
- Pauline (10/5): A sweet spot in Llwyngwyrl - Perfect little cottage with a very comfy bed. Walking distance to the village shop/ pub/ train station and beach via a lovely walk.
Host was super helpful and we would definitely return in a heart beat. The rain
- Ian (8/5): -
- Riley (2/5): - Needs half the place fixing and cleaned
- Zoe (9/5): Superb -
- Linda (7/5): Enjoyed our visit - Location was nice and the bed was very comfy Lighting on stair landing did not work, and the carpets could do with a good cleaning
- Jenean (7/5): Good - Location and it's quiet relaxed house. No parking or outdoor space. Only 1 double bed and uneven floors upstairs
- Justyna (8/5): Lovely and cosy - The cottage containing everything we needed for our stay. Lovely and cosy living room with log burner. The cottage is on the road. You literally walk straight out of the front door onto the road.
Needs a mirror in the bathroom.
- Slade (9/5): A longer stay would of been even better - It has everything you need Great location next to shop pub and river. Fab Village with its bank holiday fare going on inc duck racing .. 👌
- Jacqueline (3/5): Needs deep clean, replace loose toilet seat, fix toilet door handle & lock, fix hall door handle - The beds were comfortable. The area is beautiful. The house itself is a lovely little cottage. There were stains on the sheets and a pillowcase. The kitchen floor was dirty, the cooker hob was rusted, the door of the dishwasher and other appliances were dirty. Broken lid on bin in kitchen, All the windows were filthy, including the back door window (I cleaned a 'porthole' to look through). The seating area (a small gravel strewn yard) was so dirty my husband could not sit outside while I visited friends. There was an old used disposable barbeque left in the outer seating area.
The carpets need a good wash to remove stains. When we were ready to leave, the handle on the (new?) glass panelled door leading to front door stuck and would not open for over 15 mins. Very scary!
The toilet seat was like a bad magic carpet ride (very loose and potentially dangerous) and the string pull for the bathroom light had no handle - just dirty string. The door handle on the bathroom door was broken. I had a message just before I travelled to tell me this and advising not to shut the bathroom door!
No handwash in bathroom or kitchen. No mirror in bathroom.
(Don't expect logs for the woodburner, as shown in photos. Lucklily we didn't need them during our May visit). One sofa in the front room had a layer of gritty stuff, possibly sand?
The main issue for us was the lack of detailed cleanliness and care for this lovely little cottage, all of which could easily be put right to make it a great place to stay. On arriving home, I was very disappointed to see that these are not new issues (check previous reviews) and despite being raised by previous guests for at least 2 years, no action has been taken to remedy these matters.
- Krzysztof (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cassie (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cottage with a very peaceful surrounding and beautiful beach that is an easy little stroll, too. The people around were ever so friendly, especially the people at the pub, which was a very warm welcoming. Overall, the cottage was pretty perfect, and I can't say I have a bad thing to say about it. I would 100% recommend this cottage and location to anyone.
- Sammy (8/5): Lovely cottage /location - Near to the beach very cosy cottage and beds are so comfortable
- Maria (8/5): Very good - Lovely cottage great location
- Paul (2/5): Very disappointed in the cleanliness - Great location
Very poor cleanliness dirty sheets dirty and damp towels dirty kitchen and floors
No working ventilation in bathroom
- Batt (5/5): Have had better. - Beds comfortable, log burner was welcoming Shower, struggled to stand up straight as ceiling very low. Lack of parking, on main street. We were lucky to be out of season on the double yellow lines and pulled up to unload otherwise the car park is down the street and would have had to carry everything from there.
- Karolina (8/5): Very good -
- Lisa (8/5): Beautiful little cottage, close to amenities and nice walks. I would stay here again (but with some fluffy socks and my - The cottage is lovely, in a perfect location with a shop next door, a pub 5 mins away and a beach 10 mins away. The cottage is quirky and lots of character in it. The living room was so cold. Although there were blankets for the couch I felt they had previously had dogs sitting on them as my allergies kicked off.
A little heater in there would take the nip out the air but the rest of the cottage heated up lovely
- Emma (6/5): Pleasant - Lovely spacious bedrooms, good sized kitchen with good oven and decent size fridge
Comfortable sitting room with log burner If you stay in winter check that there will be logs provided, or whether you have to take your own
- Martin (8/5): Very good - Price. Hosts always respond. No logs so the lounge was always cold. Both sinks don't drain very well. Shower extractor fan doesn't work. No tea, coffee or sugar. No washing up liquid.
- Helen (8/5): Value for money. - Lovely cottage nicely decorated for Christmas. Much bigger than it appears from outside Comfy beds and shop next door now open which is really well stocked. Village pub has reopened too. It was so cold. A wet stormy December weekend and when we arrived at a pre confirmed time the radiators were all off. We had to spend a fair bit on logs from the shop to get downstairs warm. We slept in our jumpers both nights.
- Ella (10/5): Wonderful cottage and amazing location. - Really sweet cottage with a lot of character, it’s lovely and cosy. The Christmas decorations were a nice bonus too made it feel very festive.
- David (7/5): Comfy cottage but cold - Nice cottage, Clean and Comfy beds and sofas, good location for exploring, pub and shop nearby which is handy. Very cold at property on arrival only 9c in the cottage, struggled to warm it up, glad we took wood for fire so could start log fire immediately, as shop closed 530 and no starter pack. . However struggled to get it anywhere close to warm while we were there. But great for a short stay in winter.
- Stephan (10/5): Amazing!! A must stay if you are wanting to spend time in a lovely quiet little village. - The place was amazing, in a great little village location with a shop next door that has everything you need for essentials.
The owner was very kind and helpful.
I had a great time staying here. More wood for the fire would have been a plus but otherwise everything was amazing.
- Kevin (8/5): Very good - tv reception poor
- Petri (7/5): Lovely and kids love it - Lovely close to the beach and the location was ok It can be done with some more cleaning and at least with some few little bits like soap, bin bags and even a washing up liquid but overall was pretty good
- Maureen (8/5): Good place to stay, access to local train station so you can have a break from driving and still see the sights - Good walks to the beach, very cosy, comfortable and clean
- John (8/5): Magical weekend in a warm and sunny west Wales, with a wonderful train trip to Criccieth - Comfy lounge.
Bed very comfy
Access to train station
Friendliness of village
Good sized cottage.
Knives and chopping board v good. No mirror in bathroom
Frugal with supplies such as handwash in bathroom, pods for coffee machine etc.
Doorway straight onto road
- Rachel (6/5): It was all OK - location was nice and a good position for accessing the wider area without too much travelling. The house was reasonably comfortable We had great difficulty finding somewhere to park on the first day, though we got a spot a couple of minutes away the rest of stay. We had to keep remembering to put hot water and heating on and off as they requested.
- Ifor (9/5): Superb - Ideal location, short walk to train station and next door but one to shop Everything was fantastic..maybe for a family of 4 an extra toilet paper would be great, and a starter kit for log fire
- Ian (8/5): Lovely little break - Lovely location, so close to the beach. Easy driving distance to tywyn/barmouth. The side terrace would make a little ideal place for drinks in summer if it was tidied up.
- Nicola (8/5): Lovely holiday - We loved the location of the property and that we could bring our dog, Obi, with us. Good facilities and warm water! Cute furnishings and quotes around the property. Andy was really helpful and great at communicating quickly and efficiently. It could have been cleaned better, before our arrival.
- Staves (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (7/5): Great little cottage in a great location and if you plan to use the train it’s perfectly located. - We lucked out with the weather which made the location perfect with the 10 minute walk to the beach. We made use of the train to explore wales and although the service isn’t frequent the view is fantastic, the fact the village had a station made it a bonus. Barmouth is 13 minutes on the train compared to the half hour drive via the toll bridge. Alternatively use the miniature railway at Fairbourne and get the ferry across. We also visited Twywn and this is probably best place to go for a nearby supermarket. The Talyllyn railway is also here and worth the trip to Dolgoch to explore the waterfall and stream. The house is comfortable for a family of four (and a dog) the nice addition of the Xbox is great but the kids did find the controllers were a bit glitchy. Beds where lovely and comfortable and the kitchen table could seat 8 easy.
From the photos you can gather it is on a main road literally at the front door but the village is 20mph and there is a narrow bridge on the corner so nothing comes through fast (apart from the t**t at 2 in the morning who must have been doing 60.) There is a courtyard garden possibly shared with a neighbour it’s a bit scruffy and overgrown and someone who has stayed previous decided not to clear their fag butts up. On a nice sunny evening this could be quite enjoyable I’d imagine if smartened up.
The shower is cramped from anyone over 6ft (not much the owners can do more of a warning) also there isn’t a mirror in the bathroom that would be nice.
The hob dials have worn away there is a guide but it still gave us a bit of trouble.
On our first night there was an almighty crash at 2.45 in the morning we thought one of the kids had fallen out of bed but they were sound asleep. We could find no source of the noise, we have our theory what it was sceptics may draw their own.
The local pub is unfortunately closed and the shop was being refurbished during our stay which was a bit unfortunate as its next to the house (it wasn’t noisy more for convenience)
There was a battleships board game but it only had one playing board. (I’d assume someone mistakenly took the other half home)
These are all just small quibbles otherwise I nice place to stay.
- Christine (9/5): We had a lovely quiet relaxing weekend - Lovely and cosy Needs a mirror in the bathroom
Toilet seat was loose
- Deborah (7/5): Good - Cosy living room with log burner
Comfortable bed
Spacious kitchen Garden space unusable
No logs for fire (not even welcome pack) or advice to bring some
Dogs not allowed upstairs not mentioned on listing only when arrive at property
Beach all pebbles not suitable for dogs
Pub and shop mentioned in advert closed down , advice would be good as arrived after a long journey on a Sunday and no t bags/milk, no logs for the fire and no shop for supplies
No pub for a drink and meal, had to drive another 30 mins to find food
- Karen (8/5): Very good - The cottage was a lovely place to stay with the beach very close by. Our dogs had a great time. It would have been useful to have known the dogs couldn't go upstairs. We have 2 dogs and one is a young Labrador who is happy to settle wherever he is left. The other is an elderly JRT who finds settling hard if she is not with us.
- Melanie (9/5): Lovely Weekend in Llwyngwyril - The cottage was great. Really clean and nicely decorated with loads of space. Nice bedding and towels provided. Everything we needed was there and the instruction manual to operate the cooker, heating etc. was really helpful. Proximity to the train station was perfect as there's not much in Llwngwyril, especially now the pub has sadly closed. It was in a quiet location and the yarn-bombing was lovely to see. Easy walk to the beach and local farm shop. Hosts are very responsive. I can't fault the property or the hosts. There wasn't really a garden to speak of but that didn't affect our stay.
- Ahmed (9/5): Superb -
- Hugh (8/5): The cottage is quite comfy good value for money - The property is on a dangerous corner right on a main road No on road parking No mirror in the bathroom
The rear and side of the property needs to be tidied up
- Murk (5/5): Would not recommend. - The bedding was very poor quality and also had a blood spot. The shower room can barely fit a 5ft 4in person. The carpet had stains. Hand wash was less than half a bottle.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Higgerson (10/5): A great place to stay and go exploring from - The front door opens onto the road, apart from that (which can not be helped) everything was great.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, lovely cottage very comfortable 👌 dog friendly and very close to sea.we enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Finding out when we arrived the shop in village had shut and the pub,out of cottage owners hands, would have liked up date.could do with a little token welcome milk dog 🐕 treat this did not take away that this is worth every penny for a stay.
- Susan (8/5): Comfy cottage - Comfy reasonably clean cottage containing everything we needed for a short break. Beach about 10 mins walk, good base to visit local attractions.
Free parking is nearby, and wifi is available in the cottage. The cottage is on the road. You literally walk straight out of the front door onto the road. So we had to be careful with the dog but it wasn't a problem for us.
The tv signal/arieal wasn't very good whilst we were there. We managed to watch a little tv one night but not the next.
The area outside the kitchen door needs a little attention.
The pub and shop are currently closed.
- Shauna (8/5): Very good -
- Diyan (7/5): Good -
- Luke (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Zoe (7/5): Great cottage in a nice location! Cosy, warm and idyllic. - Cosy, warm, well equipped! Main access straight out on to the road - have to be careful of fast coming cars coming round the bend. Only local convenience store was closed for refurbishment, would have been handy to know in advance.
Make sure you take a snapshot of the key cabinet code before arriving as no signal to open e-mails outside the property! Rookie error!
- Barry (4/5): Disappointed - Lovely cottage in a lovely location. The cleanliness was awful, do not know what the cleaner does, very very little.
- Liz (10/5): Great cottage in a lovely location. Would definitely come again - Lovely cottage right on the beach which the dogs absolutely loved. Great facilities and the kids enjoyed the Xbox. Not a problem at all but my husband is 6ft 6 so the ceilings upstairs were too low for him to stand straight but he's used to it!
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Jayne (7/5): Quaint cottage in beautiful village - Beautiful cottage in a gorgeous little village. Beds very comfy with nice fresh clean linen. Kitchen well equipped, with gorgeous wooden table. The cottage wasn't cleaned very well before arrival. We had to hoover all the white dog hair up from all over before we could settle. We arrived late Sunday and was looking forward to getting the log fire burning but there were no logs for it. Given that it's a small village with no shop and it's late Sunday, a nice touch would have been a small starter pack for the fire, especially as there's no other form of heating in the lounge.
- Tobiasz (8/5): Very good - Very cosy accommodation with a wood burner, good space. Comfortable location to explore. Got everything you need for a short stay. Good WiFi and TV with Netflix if the weather is not the best. Free car park just two minutes walk from the property.
- Tammy (8/5): Very good -
- Tracey (8/5): Wonderful, relaxing weekend here - The location was perfect for us, close to beaches, beautiful rural settings, excellent for walks. The village is lovely and quiet. The cottage is so relaxing and comfortable, log burner is great, and accepts dogs :) Nothing really but just may be worth mentioning as other guests have previously the TV can be difficult to get working due to reception and it took us some time to work out the leads were left in the wrong place at back of WiFi router and then had to press WPS to to connect TV to internet following instructions on the tv settings- once that was sorted it was fine- and also the owner Andy replied instantly to our email about it so not really anything negative to report as I say
- Ollie (8/5): Very good -
- Amy (8/5): Very good -
- Yzzy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kay (6/5): Cosy cottage in a very tranquil area - The cottage itself was lovely and cosy, the beds were so comfortable, the kitchen had everything you need, clean towels provided with lovely clean fresh linen. a complementary selection of drinks were left ,tea , coffee and sugar which were appreciated The location was about 15 miles away from Barmouth or tywyn. The bag yard was unkempt with dog poo not picked up and litter strewn. The shower was quite small compared to normal ones ,not much space if your a bigger person, the oven tins need to replaced but the everything else in there was great and clean. We had issues with the TV ,hardly any channels apart from the BBC ones, no mirror in toilet ,and lack off throughout the house, nice pub a stones throw away but was closed and only open weekends ! The entrance to the property is very dangerous and its more or less on the main road,no little fence or gate ! Be careful as cars speed by .
- Herdlicska (8/5): Very good -
- Laura (10/5): Cosy coastal cottage - Warm, cosy, comfortable, peaceful.
Amazing location to walk along beach and coast path with bus and train on doorstep.
Really comfy beds and bedding. No first night logs/kindling.
- James (9/5): Lovely cottage, quiet and peaceful. - nice little spot, very quiet, just how we like it ... nice little bar down the road as at hendre hall, around 5 - 10 min walk from the property.
- Devon (8/5): Very good - Log burning fire, cosy night couldn't be beaten. All facilities and bits and pieces you could need included for cooking. Although bring extra logs for the fire if coming for a short stay and it's a main attraction as you will be obsessed and not want to use up all of theirs!
Cottage very cosy. Heating worked well. Lovely addition of old school xbox, games and other amusements!
Quaint little area, though didn't get the opportunity to explore much.
Lovely reading guest book, as usual I forgot to sign myself! Unfortunately the Internet was down during our stay, which was a little disappointing but not under anyone's control. Hosts were very apologetic and explained the situation, however for only a two night stay nothing could be done as engineers were required to come out. There was also no signal at all for phones, so struggled with sending/receiving timely updates on the issue but again not in the hosts control. So apart from being stuck with each other's company on a romantic getaway, it was wonderful!
Bathroom a little small and no ventilation/windows, or scent fresheners to mask any smells...
Some of the crockery needed a freshen up before being used. Last guests did not pay attention to detail - coffee mug put away in the cupboard with coffee drip stains down the outside!
- Megan (8/5): Lovely cottage. We enjoyed our break away. Only downfall was there was no wifi as it was broken. - The location was really nice and the shop next door was handy. The biggest let down was that there was no wifi and also no signal in the cottage so we could only use our phone when we walked 5 minutes down the road.
- Lucy (6/5): A cosy base in a beautiful place - Set in a very pretty little village with the friendly local pub within easy walking distance, this house is in a superb location - Tywyn 15 mins away, lots of beautiful walks nearby, a little shop almost next door - but not obtrusive - a great setting to get to various activities. The house itself is a lovely cosy traditional cottage and well furnished with attractive and welcoming decor. It was warm and comforting after a day out in the brisk autumn air and very peaceful, despite being right by the road side you could barely hear anything outside! The best thing after a long day of hiking (apart from being able to have a pint just round the corner!) was the gorgeously comfortable bed, amazing! A real cosy cocoon. A few things were broken or not working (we were informed about tv remote before arrival) the kitchen bin lid was broken and therefore open constantly and the wifi didn't work due to no connection to property. We're not the kind of people that rely on wifi constantly but it would have been nice to have the option to at least play some music. We actually brought along our own dvd player (a habit of travelling) so we could watch some films in the evening, but sometimes it's nice to have some background noise. Maybe a radio in the kitchen might be a good idea?
Cleanliness, the property didn't smell clean - husband even commented that it smelt of cigarettes when we first walked in. The kitchen floor was a bit grubby, toaster had smears on the chrome, a couple of the blinds weren't attached to any string so they didn't roll up you had to roll the fabric up yourself, the bathroom sink had tooth paste drips underneath, there were cobwebs down the side of the bed, but I'm afraid the icing on the cake was a mouldy frying pan and rusty sieve in the kitchen cupboard, very off putting! It felt like the property had received a quick wipe around (although, excluding the sink, bathroom was very clean), and hadn't been checked over recently. Such a shame because it is a very beautiful property in a great location but these little details tended to would have made it an excellent stay.
- Anonymous (10/5): Amazing property and location will definitely be staying again in the future - lovely property, really cosy and nicely decorated, comfortable beds slept great
- Michelle (10/5): Lovely little break - Cosy, clean and welcoming Nothing
- Gary (10/5): Excellent will return - Exceptional and comfortable Parking close by but heavy rain meant getting very wet
- Evelyn (8/5): Very good -
- Sean (9/5): Great value property - Value & location Hardly anything maybe a couple of electric fans due to heat
- Rachel (10/5): Cosy cottage style property that enhanced our stay - Excellent near shop and pub and so close to sea. Very welcoming village TV reception poor until we found Welsh stations
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dave (9/5): Glasfor Cottage - Lovely cottage in a beautiful village. Clean and tidy and everything you needed. We were near to a shop and the pub.
Some nice touches including computer games to play. Need a mirror in the bathroom.
There was a broken toilet seat.
- Bernard (8/5): Very good - Quiet and comfortable No mirror in bathroom made shaving a bit awkward.
