Guest Reviews
- Teresa Moore (7/5): A rustic tranquil stay amongst the trees and the birds . - Private little retreat
- stephen (9/5): -
- alexia (7/5): -
- Danielle (10/5): -
- Rowland (8/5): - How quite it was ,seeing nature ,set in such a beautiful setting, had everything you needed, Their was nothing we didn't like, if you looking for cozy and quite
- John (10/5): A lovely little place and a hidden gem, kept beautifully clean and big enough for two people - The location and tranquility were fabulous There was nothing negative about this property even was what I wanted it to be
- Clare (9/5): Lovely- would 100% stay again in if the area - It’s a wonderful, cosy little place which is well equipped, comfortable, nicely styled and very clean inside. It’s a fab location, so peaceful and we saw deer, a squirrel, rabbits/hares and a range of birds from the property. It’s an easy walk to the pubs in the village and the brewery is worth a trip too. Would be even better with:
Some bbq cooking tools, higher quality duvet, pillows & 100% cotton bedding.
- debbie (5/5): Disappointed - The views, peaceful and being able to let our 2 little dogs roam free . Not being able to park next to the hut as I have a bad knee and waiting for a replacement. It should be stated that tou have to park and walk at the time of booking . I stripped the bed when we left to save the host having to, and I was horrified at how dirty and stained the mattress was it looked a health hazard.
- Lisa (8/5): - The views were amazing! We had a few hiccups along the way, but the owners were really accommodating
- Claire (10/5): Perfect retreat. - Perfect! Nothing
- Kate (3/5): Let down by the poor cleaning standard. - Location perfect for touring the area. Dog friendly although step into property could be problematic for a small dog to negotiate. Lovely in the wooded area in the hot weather. Although cobwebs on the outside are to be expected due to the location, the inside clearly hadn’t been cleaned for sometime. There was dust, dirty shelves, cobwebs, filthy washing up sponge and the bedding didn’t smell fresh (though the owner assured us that it had been changed). The external drainage from the shower and sinks appeared very crude, and ran straight down into the ground below (see picture). A replacement sponge was provided along with some dog treats and an apology from the owner. However, no extra cleaning was offered. The overall poor standard of cleanliness is not something I have ever experienced with a Booking.com property before. A very disappointing stay.
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Jocelyn (8/5): Peaceful rural short break retreat - Although it is a tiny cottage it was well designed and very peaceful. A few things were lacking ; ie hairdryer. Clothes airer, ahampoo
- Matthew (6/5): Fantastic it could be as ideal setting and right concept just lacking touches to make it worth while - the setting was anazing, very quiet and peaceful.
evreything that was required for a happy short stay was there. Dont think this had been cleaned sice last occupants.
dirty sink upon arrival, floor was filthy and crumbs in the bed !!
Sun loungers outside 1 is broken.
Could do with a deep clean and painting and generally alot of tlc.
The last day there was a vile smell of rotting meat from the drains, not nice at all.
- Matthew (7/5): Location, location, location - We very much enjoyed our time in Reedham and the location is excellent. The shops, cafe's and pubs (The Ship and The Lord Nelson) are only 15-20 minutes walk away from the Rectory. The shepherd's hut is located is a quiet rural area. It was Spring when we stayed there, and were surrounded by bird song (e.g., wrens, chiffchaffs, and Cetti's warbler) and we even had a barn owl visit us and sit on the fence right in front of the hut. In addition, Strumpshaw Fen was only 15 minutes drive, where there were booming bitterns, marsh harriers and lapwings aplenty. The hut is a bit cramped, so maybe not a good choice for anyone with mobility issues. We received some useful directions but what3words and/or a Google maps pin would have been helpful to find the place.
- Adam (8/5): Cosy and warm - The shepards hut was lovely and cosy, log fire was lovely, wish the glass was no sooty so you couldn't see the flame, but heated very quickly, pathway down could do with being defined and the remains of the tree stump removed as my partner tripped over it twice lol, overall great place, beautifully quiet, so peaceful, lovely food and drink at the ship public house.
- Emma (10/5): Had an amazing time with my partner everyone is so friendly it was perfect - Loved how small and cosy it was the views were amazing Loved everything
- Taylor (9/5): Superb -
- Lianne (10/5): Beautiful place in a beautiful location - It was all just beautiful Nothing not to like
- Eliza (10/5): Perfect quiet cosy getaway! - The location is just spot on! It was so quiet and peaceful, we absolutely loved it. The hosts were super friendly and helpful, everyone in the area were also very friendly, great local pub too. Everything you needed was provided, towels, tea coffee etc. There are some previous reviews about the toilet but it seems they’ve taken that on board and changed the toilet to a fully plumbed toilet. Plenty of wood for the fire too making in such a cosy experience! We definitely plan to be back!
- Jason (10/5): Quiet warm countryside gem - Clean calm and peaceful location , kitchen with microwave hob and fridge and everything you need to cook , cosy log burner fire , warm welcoming host
- Emma (10/5): Quiet, relaxed, peaceful weekend, just what we wanted. Hosts were excellent and couldn’t do enough, would recommend and - Well equipped, cosy, comfortable and quiet, just what we were after Nothing to dislike. Only disappointment was that we didn’t see the owl that we were told about 🙂
- Phillip (7/5): Good -
- Susan (5/5): Perfect location and surroundings for nature lovers. - Location was just great, peace and tranquility.
Hosts kindly offered to deliver food one evening when the heavens opened 🙂. The cleanliness of the accommodation wasn’t great to be honest. The hut didn’t look like it had been cleaned from the last guests!.
- Sonia (8/5): Really enjoyed our stay and the location - Shepherds hut was well appointed and set in a little clearing which was quiet and private with a nice view . Easy to walk into Reedham which was a lovely place to visit Not too keen on the composting toilet but ok for a couple of nights
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (8/5): Enjoyed the location and peaceful surroundings. - Everything you needed, good WiFi, shower spot on. Kitchen well equipped. Dogs welcome. Compostable toilet.
- Bell (10/5): Perfect retreat - We loved the excluded location, it was so peaceful, waking up to the cows in the morning. Some lovely walks from the location. The owner was so lovely and helpful and didn't mind our dogs popping to say hello! The bed was very comfortable and roomy! Everything we needed for a long weekend. My partner wasn't a fan of the composting toilet but I didn't care, and there was one large spider who I took a dislike to. However you're going to get all of this in such a lovely location.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Pippa (8/5): Excellent, thank you. - Breakfast not included, but there was a lovely cafe a short walk away in the village centre. There were also a couple of good pubs with nice food locally.
Really rural and pretty location, nice and relaxing. A good spot to unwind and chill out. We were lucky enough to see a barn owl hunting one evening too. The weather! But this is the uk... what did we expect from a British summer! Nice and cosy in the hut though.
- David (9/5): Quiet cosy and relaxing - Quiet pretty location with good amenities and places of interest nearby. Hut was compact but clean, comfortable and had everything most people will need. Host was friendly and helpful and I was able to enjoy a relaxing few days in a peaceful location with the bonus of perfect weather. Would recommend the walks (and pubs) and you will be treated to the sights and sounds of many of nature's beautiful creatures around you. Nothing related to this specific accomodation, but as I'm getting older I have become less tolerant of insects and have a history of allergic reactions to some. So be mindful of the rural location and be prepared with insect repellent etc. But that's a small price to pay for the tranquility of being amongst nature.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - Great location comfortable and hosts were great too will def use again when we are planning our next visit
- Clare (9/5): Lovely little peaceful hut. - Lovely little hut in the middle of nowhere, very peaceful, lots of walks and pubs nearby, 25 mins away from great Yarmouth and other places. Lovely little place to stay in has almost everything you would need in a small space, very well made.Very lovely owner, I would definitely come back. Could definitely do with a bit more storage space, drawers or something under the bed, I only stayed for 2 nights but if I stayed longer, I wouldn't of liked living out of my suitcase.
- Susan (9/5): Superb - The location is lovely and they allow dogs The path is muddy when it rains
- Alan (10/5): A warm, cosy hideaway. Great for scenery and walks nearby. - The remoteness and comfort of the cabin. Warm and cosy. A great host too! The weather!
- Beatrice (10/5): Exceptional -
