- Jill (3/5): Too many disappointments and a poor manager/host for such a beautiful property - The location was excellent, within walking distance of shops, pubs, restaurants, walking routes and the sea. Dolawel is a beautiful (somewhat neglected) property with surrounding garden and pasture. We have visited Newport many times staying in pub accommodation and self catering accommodation. The host was in London and was unsupportive. We had difficulty opening a jammed key lock on arrival and subsequently found that there was no hot water or heating which lasted overnight and the promised travel cot was broken hidden in a cupboard. We asked for these problems to be fixed and they were eventually - not without upset on our part. Since leaving Dolawel, I have contacted the owner again about the poor standards of care along with other comments about the general upkeep of the house and grounds including the summer house (which is inhabitable), and am awaiting a reply.
