• Ylona (2/5): Good spot given the price but be carefull with the host.. - Good value for money on a nice location, could be more clean The host insisted to provide me with a beach towel which in itself was a nice gesture. After check out, she accused me of using bleech on the towel and kept sending me messages that I have to pay 40 dollars to her to replace it. I did not do anything with the towel other than use it on the beach. Given the requested amount to compensate for a very old towel it seemed like a scam rather than a misunderstanding to me..

• Bradley (7/5): - Location great for travelling around the island. Use all bus types 3.50BBD each trip regardless of length if trip. Surfers Cafe must great for food at a reasonable price. Place on top of a hill ok for us but if anyone has mobility issues please be aware. Room basic and in need of doing up. Limescale in bathroom sink and bathroom tiles needs fixed. Microwave available and kettle but no proper cooking facility as was not allowed to cook in the kitchen. Budget hotel thought was expensive for what you got.

• Cheryl (9/5): Friendly and great value stay in Oistins - Our 2nd stay at ShkyBlue (we topped and tailed our trip to Grenada with a couple of days in Barbados) and this time we had a superior room with a balcony where you could sit and see the sea. The room is spacious with a TV, fridge, kettle and a nice walk in shower room. The hostess Shane was there to greet us when we arrived and makes sure there are thoughtful touches in the room like some bottled water in the fridge, beach towels, hairdryer and if you've forgotten something just ask she can usually help you out. A massive plus was being able to store our bags and have a freshen up there after we checked out which meant we could spend our last day at the beach before our late night flight. Shane and her lovely dog Jax made us feel right at home, there's a nice little garden area with herbs and plants growing and even gave us some cooking ingredients to take home as we really love Caribbean food. We're glad we chose to stay at ShkyBlue on our return leg. Nothing really. Other reviews have mentioned road noise and yes there is some but honestly we weren't in much and after about 10pm it was really quiet so didn't disturb our sleep at all. The property is at the top of a hill so perhaps not good if you're less mobile however it's not too bad and there are steps. Taxis and buses are plentiful and it's not far to go to get into Oistins market for amazing food - 5-10 mins tops so very convenient for everything and only 15 mins from the airport too. .

• Cheryl (8/5): Great little place just a little away from the noise and bustle of Oistins - Our hostess Shane is great, very friendly and helpful and a fellow Brit so we felt instantly 'at home'. And we loved her 'guard' dog big soppy Jax. The location is a little up the hill behind Oistins market so pretty convenient for everything (although I wouldn't want to try and lug a suitcase up the hill). The room was simple but comfy and had everything we needed. As we were only there a couple of nights on our way to Grenada so we weren't too fussed about not having a balcony etc. but on our way back through we have booked a balcony room with view so that will be nice. We can recommend Shky Blue if you want to be in Oistins. Nothing really!!

• Ameika (9/5): I would book again - Shane was an amazing host. She was very helpful, quick to respond, and answered all of my questions. Communication was smooth from start to finish. The location is great: about a 5-minute walk to Oistins Fish Fry and the beach, and roughly a 15-minute walk to Miami Beach. Just a heads-up that the hill directly across the street is how you get to and from Oistins, and Miami Beach. I would suggest good walking shoes when going to Miami since parts of the sidewalk cut out. The room had everything I needed and was comfortable and clean. The only minor issue was lighting when doing makeup and hair, so if you’re a makeup girly, I’d suggest bringing a small travel LED mirror. Ask ahead of time if wash clothes are available if you do use them. Getting around was easy by walking and using Uber, BimRide, and collecting taxi cards as backup in case the apps didn’t work. Overall, I had a great stay and would 100% book here again. Highly recommend! Nothing I could think of that I didn’t like

She was very helpful in arranging a car rental and taxi driver. I would highly recommend staying here for the location, facilities and comfort.

Hidden charge 4% with the credit card (you only learn that around the time of checking-in. Mattress frame: bigger than the mattress and sticking out as I walked into it. Mosquito Faucet: tight and not smooth to maneuver.

• Tah (9/5): Superb - Close to Oistins centre: the bus terminal, Massy Stores supermarket, beaches, and Oistins Bay Garden for the famous Friday fish fry. Spacious bathroom and bedroom, equipped with microwave and mini-fridge. It's on a small hill and requires some stair climbing from the main road. Gentle ascent. Not a problem for me but might be for others.
• Briana (10/5): Exceptional - Shane's place was lovely - a great base in Oistins. Really close to airport and lots of great food options around, easy to get the bus to Bridgetown etc. The room was really nice and much bigger than anticipated. Powerful shower and a nice balcony with a view of the sea. Shane was really friendly but not overbearing, she gave us some good tips. The wider guest house has darts, a pool table and a big kitchen so plenty to do. Some extra pillows would have been great but I'm nit-picking - we loved our stay!

Appreciated the mini fridge, kettle, and coffee provided. Not a fancy venue but very helpful staff that let us leave our luggage for the afternoon after checkout. Located on a busy street so was difficult to get into driveway initially. Cockerels noisy from 4am- but this appears to happen everywhere in Barbados.

Good location central to beaches and food places like Oistins Fish Market. Easy to get to various other spots on the island. We were advised of the location on a hill and did not bother us at all, helpful and very friendly host. Balcony views all day! The games area was great for a few rounds of pool in the evening. Great communication prior to arrival. There is noise from the main road at busy times but again this is explained and we quite enjoyed people watching from the Balcony!

• Daniel (10/5): Balance escape - The rooms are perfectly setup for a greatstay with all necessities available. Lots of lovely common space as well, including the outdoors. Shane and her partner are creating a beautiful bajan inspired escape in a gorgeous family villa. This is supported by the most adorable, playful mastiff puppy, Jax (sp?), who is just a dream dog! Chase him till your heart gives out, or let him slobber kiss you into giggles! The location is amazingly close to Oistins and Miami Beach (for swimming). Please be aware this is on top of Oistins hill, and the steps can be steep. But we only did them once or twice a day, so it was a great workout! Pay the extra AC fee! Totally worth it :) Use the Pickup app, and the cabs will find you in minutes. The hosts interact as much as you'd like - but be sure to connect with for booking any services. We hope to keep returning to see Shane continue her wonderful journey! Not really "not like" because the roosters are gorgeous, but the 5am crowing can be jarring. We did get used to it, and it's a Barbados thing, and so charming.

The beach and a good supermarket Massy are near & convenient, local transport is near, including to an airport - no need for expensive taxi for a solo traveller. The Booking.com did not make quite clear that a payment for stay is taken on arrival by the host & not taken by the Booking.com direct as in Europe. The room was basic but ok for a short stay. There was an old dusty armchair but no small table with a chair to sit down. No lamp. Nowhere to put things on, only a cloth rail so all my possesions were in the suitcase - ok for a short stay only. Only one smallish towel on a hook so it never dried (no towel rail) , no bathroom shelf eg. for toiletries, toilet paper holder got stacked, ceiling fan was noisy.The house is on the short but steep hill with 50 steps to climb- problem for some with bad knees & is standing on the corner of two road crossing and as such noisy at rush hour-ear plugs can solve this.

• Tiana (10/5): Exceptional - The place is exceptional and my partner and I was very satisfied. Shane was very responsive and get back to you very quickly upon any request. There is an open area where you can play. My partner and I made use of those board games and pool table. It gave us that time to play with each other and it forced conversation. Just down the street, everything was a blink away. I'm talking food, bus, everything.

Good hosts for a very basic accommodation Facilities not much beyond the room, although I did not require anything as I was just passing by, arriving late in the day, enjoying the fish Market in the evening and leaving early next morning
• Grant (10/5): Friendly, comfortable, easy and value for money! - First of all the welcome and the hospitality was immense. Shane and Anthony are the nicest people and made me feel more than welcome. I was very tired as well, having just been offshore for 5 weeks, and just wanted to watch the darts and Shane made sure I got it in my room. Amazing. The fact that I only got 2 days there. Genuinely, for the money I paid it was great and couldn’t have asked for more.
