Guest Reviews
- Budge (10/5): Comfortable, cozy & beautiful views - We had the most beautiful stay at TV Palm ecolodge. Chloe and Kian were so helpful throughout the stay and made us welcome. The views were incredible and the room felt so cozy. The journey up by taxi was fairly easy but not very accessible if you are trying to avoid taxis.
The restaurant room was gorgeous & the balcony bar had amazing views!
We also went to an ancient tea house whilst we were here and had a great experience.

- Tony Barker (10/5): Traditional wooden constructed place with lovely staff and good food - highly recommended - Fantastic, if rather remote, location, everything about the place was great nothing
- Caroline (Thanh Binh) (10/5): Excellent place - If you like to have a memorable & remarkable trip in Ha giang, you have to stay at least one night in this place. It's on the high mountain, about 990m completely isolate in a beautiful eco green area, so ethnic in character. Nature explorer can not skip this place and the way to TV Palm is one of the most beautiful. Also we were welcoming by Chloé, a nice, warm and attentive receptionist. We had really memorable stay with help of Chloé and Kien. They are both excellent! Thanks million!
- marie (10/5): -
- Vium (10/5): Lovely, comfortable and relaxing - Very beautiful - the nature and lodge. The service was impeccable.
- Daniel (9/5): A quiet spot in the mountains to recharge for a few days whilst travelling. - Fantastic service, staff were all very kind. Food was nice, and the views were amazing (when the cloud lifted!)
- Frederick (10/5): -
- Zoé (10/5): Amazing ecolodge in the Ha Giang hills - Can't recommend it enough. This is not a hotel you can find everywhere, so don't just come here for a place to sleep - but to experience the amazing nature and wonderful hospitality of the kind team that made our visit something really special.
Once reached by car or trekking, you are presented with amazing views of the rice terrassed hills and mountains where you can enjoy vietnamese tea or coffee. The hotel manager, Mrs Ivy, was so kindhearted and even gave us fresh grapefruit.
The food is amazing - you have to try the fried spring rolls! We also loved the sustainable approach of the lodge - many of the building materials come from the surrounding villages, like stones from the lake to build the fireplace in the common room (which is also so nice to sit by after a long day of trekking) or water from the mountain for the pool. The room itself is very cozy.
We were also lucky to meet Mr. Trung, the owner of the ecolodge. He provided us with a lot of information and insights about hiking possibilities, the communities and his projects for education and sustainability. He even made it possible for us to visit and sleep at one of the local families in the Xa Phin village.
Thank you for everything! We hope to come back someday 🙏
- Denis Hmns (9/5): - Lieu enchanteur.
Le calme.
Le personnel.
L'engagement écologique Le prix du ha giang tour.
- Andreas (10/5): Great lodge in the mountains with pool - Very nice people, arranged everything perfectly and were extremly helpfull; meals were delicious. Great view, marveously kept and great pool A bit too far away from Ha Giang.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (7/5): Lodge good, restaurant great, tours - so so. - Nice eco lodge - very remote location with great views. Good hiking access. Great kitchen for breakfast and dinner. We booked tours thorough them and would caution others about their price/value proposition. (The 8/10 score is for the ecolodge which we really did enjoy).
Please note that I raised the concerns noted below and management was very responsive and took full responsibility for the shortcomings of the provided guide. They also provided a partial refund and really seemed to listen to my (hopefully) constructive feedback.
We booked a one day hiking tour that was good with a well informed English speaking guide however the price was simply outside of anything else we have arranged in Vietnam. (2-4x). Having made similar arrangements in Sapa and Ninh Binh and Cat Ba - the price was difficult to justify. . (90 usd pp). Competition for hiking tours in the area is light - which is a huge opportunity for the company that will get it done well. This lodge is perfectly placed for wonderful hikes.
4 day 3 night ha giang loop tour - this I knew was on the very high end of price range when I booked but I thought that perhaps the advertised “high quality” tour would translate into a very professional and skilled guide and a smoother experience. Our guide, Kai, was “fine” and we did move safely around the loop to my preferred (and self booked) accommodation. Please note that We loved doing the loop - however, our “Informed, English speaking professional guide” left a lot to be desired. We waited for him 2/4 mornings (he simply didn’t get up in time), at a number of rest breaks to finish cigarettes and drinks after spending the first 10 minutes taking his own photos. 2 of the specific stops on the first day (planned and not impromptu) he had zero information about. For ethnic weaving he simply said that it had a lot of steps and he didn’t know what the were, and for the “film” location he said they made a movie there - did he know more? Nope.
The equipment was good as was the safety equipment provided. Our helmets were better than all others we saw in the loop.
- Jean (1/5): Bad -
- Marya (8/5): Bumpy road with a reward at the end of a lovely newly built homestead. Thank you for your hospitality. - The staff was absolutely wonderful. There’s a fire in the dining room, which is very cozy. It is fun to stay ina stilt house. The breakfast included with excellent. We arrived in early March after the rainy season the rooms smelled musty. You could hear everything through the thin walls and it was a little cold.
- Arnoldus (10/5): Natural, pure, sincere and best views imaginable - Amazing location in the middle of nature. Out-of-this-world sceneries and views and extremely friendly staff. It all feels very pure, warm and dedicated. My mum and I were very impressed and delighted. Thank you Joe and all the staff. Best price-quality imagineable. -
- Kelly (10/5): An experience we will always remember - From the moment we arrived, Joe made us feel welcome, his chefs cooking us up lunch and lighting the fireplace for us. He took us to a beautiful room and told us stories about life in Vietnam. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas and we were even invited to Christmas dinner with him and the staff. It was something special that we will always remember. Joe goes over and beyond to make your stay pleasant and I hope to visit again. I would highly recommend this unique location of Vietnam, and witness the life of the Vietnamese people and lifestyle.
- Sangster (10/5): The staff treated us so kindly, the food was excellent, the view was incredible, the rooms were very nice and clean, and - Very beautiful and scenic Nothing
- Nick (8/5): Very good -
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional - Joe was fantastic, sorting out our transportation leaving and giving recommendations for walks and lunch. All staff were very attentive and the chef was great. The location was unbeatable, so beautiful and so peaceful. I very much enjoyed the pool too. Will be recommending this place to everyone I know N/a
- Wiebke (9/5): Superb - Even so it was mostly rainy and cloudy the location is amazing! Everyone was lovely, the food was great! The place is really beautiful! I personally didn’t like the mattress.
- Chris (10/5): Very enjoyable stay in a beautiful location. We wish we could have stayed longer. - We really enjoyed our stay at TV Palm Ecolodge.
The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. A special mention to Tung who went out of his way to make our stay a great one including a trip to nearby green tea plantation.
The location of the property was great - very beautiful setting amongst rice fields and mountains.
Thank you for a great stay. NA
- Alena (7/5): Beautiful lodge - but little privacy - The property is in a beautiful landscape and everything is incredibly well maintained and taken care of - the gardens are beautiful! The staff is very friendly and provided good vegan food for us. The cats that belong to the lodge are very cute. The rooms have no noise isolation at all so that you can hear anything anyone in the lodge does or says. The rooms are very small and have no ensuite bathroom. Our toilet had sh*t stains when we arrived and they were only removed a couple of days later.
- Alexandra (10/5): Amazing peaceful experience. - This place is a hidden gem for sure. The views are incredible and the atmosphere is so peaceful. It’s a great place to go to escape after the busy Hanoi. We want to give special recognition to Tung/Cady for his kindness and the amazing hike he took us on. The Ecolodge organised a private full day hike to local villages through rice terraces and we got lunch provided by a local family. We felt extremely welcome here and would definitely recommend this place. Just note there are a lot of large insects as it’s so remote but this isn’t really a negative.
- Elodie (10/5): Lost in a paradise - Amazing and calm place. I needed a place to disconnect and relax. It was the perfect place. A little paradise that is worth the detour with Ha Giang. The staff is infinitely kind. Service of rare quality. Thank you very much for this special moment in the heart of the nature.
- Simon (10/5): Superb. - Everything! From the buggy ride to the top to the tent to the view and bar. We didn't use the pool, but looked very inviting. Food was great. Highly recommend. Nothing!
- Doris (9/5): Very relaxing spot well off the beaten trail. Staff are very welcoming and the pool is very nice and relaxing. I would - Lovely spot in a remote setting. Nice swimming pool and patio to relax in and enjoy the quiet. You are assigned a bathroom when you arrive. They are very clean and nice but other guests seem to get confused about which bathroom they should use so someone else was using our assigned bathroom. Not a big deal as they felt very new and clean but the system doesn’t seem to work exactly as planned.
- Niamh (9/5): Superb -
- Anna (10/5): Beautiful property with good values - Stunning location at top of hill. Beautiful gardens and food was really good. The place was immaculate and staff very attentive. Lovely pool and bar area to sit and watch sunrise (note not always guaranteed). Nothing as was excellent- wifi not the strongest but we didn’t come away to sit on our phones so not a problem- you are at top of a mountain after-all. Relax with the vibe there!
- Betty (6/5): Lovely place in the mountains above Ha Giang - The location in the mountains was quiet and beautiful. The taxi cost $200,000 It wasn't clear that you have to call their "hotline number" at the gate so we walked up carrying my luggage where there was a golf cart that could have come and got us. Thankfully I took it down to meet my taxi.
The bathroom was separate from the room and downstairs. Not ideal for those like me that have to go in the middle of the night.
The pool is lovely but there was no ladder or steps to get out. It is about 4ft deep and I hurt my ribs trying to crawl out.
Their restaurant is only open at set times and they asked me to pre-order my dinners. Bring snacks.
Minor things include...
1. A free bamboo toothbrush but no tooth paste.
2. Spotty wifi (and yes they're in the mountains but it wasn't an issue at homestays on the Ha Giang Loop)
3. Thin walls so I could hear the couple 3 doors down from me.
4. Only one electrical plug right up beside the bed so I had to have all my devices laying on the bed to charge. Thankfully there was only me and I slept on the other side.
I was looking for a relaxing place after completing 4 days on the Ha Giang Loop by motorbike. This place is beautiful but it didn't quite deliver.
- Vít (7/5): Good -
- Scott (10/5): 5 star homestay - Beautiful scenery, fantastic facilities and friendly staff. 5 star experience Enjoyed it all. No criticism at all.
- Louane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elise (10/5): Exceptional - Incredible place in the hills near Ha Giang city. Very peaceful and beautiful. Staff is very nice and helpful and we had amazing dinner and breakfast. We unfortunately book only 1 night here whereas we should have stayed longer!
- Bernhard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing spacious room with large bed.
Style morden and luxury. Friendly staff, Joy professional
- Franziska (10/5): Exceptional ! - The best part of our trip was the owner. He really goes the extra mile to help with everything. He was so helpful and such a great cook. We enjoyed the nights in the dinning hall a lot. The owner speaks English very well and if you ask him he can tell you a lot about the area and the food he is preparing.
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): Lovely place with fantastic staff. Highly recommend. - We absolutely loved our stay at The Palm Ha Giang. We ended up spending 4 nights there and had the most incredible time. The staff was fantastic and helped us organize multiple tours that really defined our experience in the Northern territory of Vietnam. We ended up being some of the only guests during New Year's and Joe built us a fire and supplied us with some fantastic celebratory beverages. The chef that runs the kitchen was a standout, he made us local dishes prepared with fresh ingredients - some of our favorite food in Vietnam. Lastly, the view from the property is unbeatable, well worth the journey up the hill. N/A
- Chris (8/5): Beautiful property, which must be fantastic if the weather cooperates. - Stayed two nights and never saw beyond thick cloud (not the lodges fault though). I understand it has an awesome view though. Property is gorgeous, with a deck that would be amazing to admire the view from on a clear day. There was a cozy stone fireplace in the dining room that we sat in front of for on a cold, foggy, and wet day, feeding the fire while stuck in the clouds. If you’re someone needs to pee at night, it is super inconvenient to walk to your private bathroom that’s about two minutes away. The meal situation could have been better explained - we were not aware that we were paying for each dish (which was not ordered but placed in front of us) while we assumed we were paying a price per person for a set menu. Food is quite expensive, but there’s no other options.
- Jaroslava (10/5): Excellent - Beautiful location, clean, staff very helpful and nice.
- Kasia (9/5): Superb - Beautiful hidden gem in the mountains of Ha Giang. Perfect place to rest after Ha Giang loop. Very friendly and helpful staff. Met the owner and it's incredible what he's doing for the community and environment. You can tell that the owner and staff takes great care of the place. It's 20 mins by car from Ha Giang city but you are rewarded by being isolated in nature. Like what others have said, the bathrooms are private but not connected to the room. A bit inconvenient but not a dealbreaker.
- Barbora (9/5): The location is everything, spectacular view - The accommodation is amazing! Really unique experience. Stuff was very nice. You're in the middle of nowhere, but still near Ha Giang. Great rest before Ha Giang Loop. The ONLY thing we didnt like was the pool - it was quite dirty, not suitable for swimming, so I was disappointed cause it was the main reason why we booked this place.
- Phuong (9/5): Superb -
- Phuong (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (10/5): Loved it. A highlight of Vietnam. - The staff are lovely, the food is authentic local Vietnamese, and the place is spotless. The Palm is one of the nicest places I’ve stayed. Sure, it’s a bit out of town, but that's a good thing, as Ha Giang City isn’t why you make the journey. It’s for the views and the escape! My wife and two children stayed five nights. It wasn't a problem for us, but If you have ambulatory issues, just be aware there’s a short hill to access the property.
- Anonymous (10/5): Giang and all his staff were very helpful to me while I recovered from an accident, I highly recommend this resort - The property is quiet and secluded
Beautiful , natural flowers and native plants
Lovely natural swimming pool, but needs a swim ladder for less agile guests.
- Kenneth (8/5): Very good - Mr Giang, the manager is a very nice person. The Ecolodge is located up the hill overlooking karst geopark. The scenery is breathtaking. We love it.
- Eve (10/5): Exceptional - The most beautiful location and the staff couldn’t do enough to help the property is a little while out of Ha Giang town but as long as you know that and are looking for a relaxing break it is perfect
- Neil (9/5): Magical views, comfy beds and brilliant service, setting and food. - Paradise! Beautifully located, excellently run, clean and brilliant service and food. Don’t stay in Hi Giang town when this piece of paradise is a twenty minute taxi and offers a a brilliant start or end to the loop. Loved every moment All was brilliant
- Harchaoui (10/5): The best place in ha giang - it’s a very cosy place with the most beautiful view, it’s very clean, the beds are very comfortable and warm
it’s the perfect place to connect with nature and with yourselves.
- Rita (10/5): Peaceful time near the rice fields - The place is beautiful, the view is fabulous and the hosts are super friendly. We had some nice tours arranged by the host Giang and visited the rice fields and villages around the homestay with him. We had a really nice time in his company and left full of good insights about the country. Would love to stay in Palm Ha Giang again!
- Mercedes (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location way up in the hills above Ha Giang .
Extremely relaxing environment.
Helpful and professional staff The bathrooms are private , but not joined onto the accommodation, so a bit inconvenient.
- Trần (10/5): Exceptional - Mr. Trung - The host is very friendly and enthusiastic. The staff are also lovely. There is a swimming pool that does not use chemicals. Comfortable bed. The location is about 7km from the center but this is an extremely great place to watch the sunrise.
- Andrea (10/5): One of the most amazing places we‘ve stayed at, beautifully designed and cared for with incredible view! - Very very beautiful place, one of the nicest places we‘ve ever stayed at! It is beautifully designed and cared for, with amazing plants and an absolutely incredible view, lovely terrace and indoors, very clean and lovely owners. The food was delicious, staff were super friendly.
We decided to stay longer, because we enjoyed our stay so much.
You can take a beauty walk/ hike through the mountains and rice terraces right from the hotel, with great views.
Overall amazing! Would absolutely recommend to go there!
- Ary (10/5): Unique experience in beautiful north Vietnam - Unique location and views over the mountains and valleys.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
They managed to arrange a perfect private Loop tour in just 1 day.
- Collings (10/5): A must if in Ha Giang - Fantastic place attentive staff nothing to much the views are great booked it to get away from the madness of Ha Giang food was amazing recommend the local smoked sausage dish brilliant.Met owner and he gives alot back to the local community the way it should be.Also the sun rises across the mountains infront of you Nothing
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Unbelievable views in the middle of the countryside. Cannot recommend enough.
- Anaïs (9/5): Superb - Incredible views from the lodge. Staff was super nice. A bit difficult to access but worth it !
- Richard (10/5): Gorgeous! - Food was excellent. Best on the loop. No hooks, cubbies or storage space in the room for clothes and things.
- Jack (4/5): Lovely scenery, subpar hospitality - The scenery is beautiful, the place is very pretty. I didn't like the way the place is managed and the lack of genuine hospitality.
- Huyen (6/5): Not worth it if you want some privacy. - the view is beautiful there is no privacy, due to extremely poor sound proof. We couldn't sleep well because the voices from next room keeps coming in, regardless how hard that couple try to talk in low voices. I don't blame them, I blame the facility's virtual lack of sound proofing.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing views overlooking rice paddies and mountains, and perfect peace and quiet. Also, the service was exceptional, hats off to Joseph and the rest of the crew!
- Hendrik (8/5): Amazing view in the mountains - Really beautiful place with a fantastic view in the mountains around Ha Giang. It was nicely build with a terrace over a cliff. There is also a possibility to eat dinner. The internet only worked near the router and it appeared, that the swimming pool had no filter system.
- Jesse (10/5): Beautiful stay above the clouds! - The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I love the view, the food, the whole vibe.
- William (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location, wonderful staff, comfortable accommodation, and great food. We can't wait to come back to this peaceful lodge in the Ha Giang hills.
- Liana (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect. The view is amazing and the owner is so nice and friendly. I really recommend this place <3
- Mattia (9/5): Superb -
- Han (10/5): I enjoyed 1 night at the hotel. The staff is so friendly and kind - The hotel view is so beautiful and is close to naturw Only the pathway to hotel has not developed yet as it is new.
- Yndia (8/5): Very good - Beautiful hotel on top of the mountain.
Super friendly people.
Good food.
- Anonymous (10/5): Me and my friend stayed for a few nights and we had such a wonderful stay. The views are incredible and the staff are so - Beautiful location and super lovely staff
- Rosanna (8/5): Natural escape in the middle of nowhere - The view is nice, although really far from Ha Giang center. You are surrounded by nature in the Ecolodge, with no noise We didn't understand that the Ecolodge was this far out from Ha Giang. You need to get a taxi from Ha Gian for about 20 minutes drive and then walk a road up to the Ecolodge for about 10 minutes (cars are not allowed to arrive directly at the hotel). The toilet is outside the room (and downstairs), also it wasn't very clear when we booked and not very clean. The bed is just a mattress on the floor
- Jeremy (10/5): Our favourite accommodation so far in Vietnam :) - This place was paradise in the hills! We recommend it as a good spot to recuperate after doing the Ha Giang loop. The view is amazing, it’s very peaceful, the staff are lovely , the property is stunning, clean modern bathrooms etc . Our favourite accomodation in Vietnam so far. Also, you can walk down the road and swim at a lovely waterfall. Please note the property is up in the hills and you’ll need to get a taxi. But it is so worth it for the view and tranquility and because they’re isn’t a lot going on the city centre honestly.
- Svenja (9/5): Superb - Was a very nice stay in the mountains, the view and the ecolodge was beautiful. The staff team was very friendly The only thing we dont like was the bed,
the mattress was very uncomfortable.
- Alice (10/5): Excellent - Really nice place with truly great people! Joseph is our beloved host, he took us for a trek and a two day motorbike tour around Ha giang loop. We had an amazing time with him, lots of laughing, good food, great moments. The ecolodge itself is beautiful, confortable, with respect for the environment. Food is delicious too! Hiiighly recommend ! Arsene and Alice
- David (9/5): Good! Go there! - We were forced to cancel an earlier booking in Hoàng Su Phì due to an impassable road 60 km from the property. A quick check led to several choices near the city of Hà Giang. The Palm Hà Giang Ecolodge caught our attention. Bumping along in the car it was hard to scrutinize the pictures and get a clear idea, mainly attracted to the property by its name. As we passed by the city in the direction of the place, it became clear on Google Maps that 6 km remained on a now dark, winding, twisty, up-and-down road (read roller coaster). When we finally got to the gate, it was pitch dark and heavy rain started to fall. We were apprised that a steep walk up a well-built rocky trail was necessary (height said to be 9 floors on my iPhone health app), carrying basic luggage under umbrella, the rest to be wafted up later by the kind and very accommodating hotel staff. So our arrival was steeped in some mystery. We were warmly welcomed by the outgoing, vociferous owner Mr Trung. We got our reward upon awakening in the morning to a spectacular broad view of vanishing mist and stately mountains. Nothing to complain about. Everything was great, except maybe for me, now 74, the low bed and lack of a chair in the room.
- Filippo (10/5): Magic! After 2 days in the caotic Hanoi this place was like a paradise, beautiful building, swimming pool with a spectac - Everything It’s not a proper cons but pay attention about the distance from the center (about 20 min by taxi/scooter)
- Oberegelsbacher (10/5): Absolutely recommendable. - Great Place with a fantastic view. I came here from Austria. The staff is very friendly, helpfull and competent and pampered us. We felt like part of the family. Good support for things to do. Modern location with lots of wood and very clean. It's a pity that we were only there for such a short time.
- Alīna (10/5): Very lovely stay in beautiful surroundings - The Palm Ecolodge is a tranquil property up in the hills of Ha Giang away from the city buzz and heat. We had a lovely stay there, the views were absolutely stunning all around and there is a lot of greenery at the property, so the place really invites you to slow down and relax. The rooms were cute and cosy with wooden decor and the whole property had a lovely style. Pool was great and refreshing. We enjoyed delicios dinner at very ambient restaurant at the property. We stayed one night, but I would deffinititey recommend to stay two days to unwind before or after Ha Giang loop.
- Michele (10/5): The most magical place in Ha Giang - I think there is not such a place in all Ha Giang province. The staff is absolutely awesome, adorable. The lodge is stunning, the atmosphere is magical. We had the best time there, it’s a place that deserve to be known for its beauty and service /
- Michael (10/5): Mini getaway of peace and tranquility - Incredible location to relax and unwind away the bustling cities, staff were friendly and looked after all guests.
Food portions and taste were the best so far in vietnam.
- Rai (10/5): It’s a great place to stay in ha Giang, the host is extremely friendly and helpful, the whole family is there to take of - Everything
- Karl (8/5): Very good -
- Marta (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful place in the middle of nowhere with amazing views. Everything was very new and clean. The stuff was very nice.
- Helene (9/5): Peaceful - Serene surroundings, beautiful view, eye for sustainability and a warm welcome :)
- Tatiana (10/5): Exceptional - Words can’t describe how welcome the staff made us feel! The place is so lovely and quiet in the mountains and the hosts made us feel at home. We can’t recommend this place enough. If you’re looking for some relaxing time in Ha Giang with amazing views, this is your spot.
Thanks again Hung Thanh for helping us out and arranging things and we hope to see you again!
Tatiana & Lawrence
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome location, beautiful place and incredible views. That probably sums it up. You need to be OK with shared bathrooms as there are none in the rooms.
However there are enough of those shared ones, these are clean and easy accessed, so it's just a personal thing.
