Guest Reviews
- Jesmond (5/5): - We loved the location and the lovely views. The bathroom is in a very awkward place and the spare bedroom was very damp and cold.
- Suzanna (4/5): Whilst I understand the roof leaking was probably unpredictable it did spoil my stay as I slept in fleece pyjamas tucked - The location The roof had leaked in the double bedroom I was supposed to be staying in and as a result the bed and bedding was wet, as a consequence I had to stay in the twin single room, where I had to take down the fold and slide under second bed, having first moved the bedside cabinet to allow room for the bed to be moved, so that I had enough room to put up my dogs crate (their bedroom)
This second bedroom was a converted annex of some sort and was a very cold room, I had to pull the bed away from the wall as the room was so damp it was making the duvet damp where it was touching the wall.
It was really hard to stay warm in this room, whilst the room I was supposed to be sleeping in was so much warmer and the bed more comfortable.
It was so cold in there that I even had to put coats on the dogs as they were cold and shivering.
There was also a very bad I assume coffee stain on the carpet.
I do feel in view of the fact that I was not able to stay in the ‘adults’ room as I had booked for and instead had to stay in the ‘children’s’ room that I should be offered some financial compensation.

- Kelly (10/5): Wish we could of stayed longer - Perfect location and beautiful cottage we will be returning We didn’t get any information about getting into the property lucky we bumped into a local man who helped us find the key safe
- Duncan (5/5): Passable -
- Michael (8/5): Very good - The surroundings Location was beautiful just quiet far to any shops or garages
- Karl (10/5): a week in arkengarthdale - lovely cottage in a small village. location was good with private parking. pubs and shops close by.
- Neil (9/5): Superb -
- Caroline (6/5): Basic and reasonably comfortable, but could be better for the money. Drive too small: - Liked the location, the cleanliness, the thorough, careful handling of the booking. Also, the bedding and towels were reasonably good. The sewing box in the sittingroom cupboard is excellent and very well equipped. Quite of lot of improvements needed: the double bed mattress feels quite old, is creaky, and uncomfortable and bumpy in the centre - poor night's sleep. The 'driveway' is extremely small and very difficult to get into, because of angles and wall positions. You need a very small vehicle to do this at all. Not possible to park elsewhere close by. There were no kitchen handtowels. The Wi-fi was more often out of order than operational. The control knobs on the cooker have their individual identification marks virtually rubbed off, so it's hard to work out which is which for use with what! The sittingroom sofa is old, and sagged in the centre, and cushions were thin. The kitchen's wooden seats were uncomfortable, but no cushions were supplied for them. Overall price too high.
- Robert (10/5): Idyllic location - Great location well appointed Bed ver small for a couple however room wouldn’t allow anything else
- Martha (10/5): Beautiful surroundings and comfortable accommodation - The cottage is in a lovely village in a beautiful dale. There are excellent walks right from the door. The view from the garden is wonderful, and we enjoyed most of our meals outside whilst the weather was fine. The kitchen has all the utensils etc you might need. There wasn't anything 'we didn't like'. A suggestion though, is that it would be great to have a sun awning or parasol in the garden or over the bench. We constructed our own from bootlaces, a kanga (pareo), and some pegs. :-)
