The only problem we had was the unreliable TV signal. It was also difficult to open two windows. Well done to the hopusekeeper who does a brilliant job. see above

• Elizabeth (10/5): Lovely well equipped flat ideally situated for visiting York & surrounding area. Owners very helpful - Flat had everything that you needed. There was a garden to relax in at the end of a busy day. We enjoyed coffee and cake at the cafe downstairs. Two pubs close by for evening meals. A nice peaceful village but within easy reach of York and the coast and lots of interesting places to visit. We also appreciated the welcoming pack of local goodies.

Naomi, Anthony & Charlie For me, the bed was uncomfortable, but that's because i have health problems, especially in my bones, joints, and muscles. The boys loved the bed and how comfortable for them it was. Easy to get a bus into york. However, we wish taxi and Uber were slightly cheaper.

• Natasha (9/5): Lovely cosy place which suited us perfectly! - We loved how spacious & clean the apartment was. Had everything we needed really. Also a lovely tea room/ coffee shop underneath which was lovely! Nice little touch to provide books and games also! Can’t really fault the place. Only one tiny thing, we couldn’t see a kitchen bin. We did find rubbish bags which were provided so we used one of them.

• Stephen (10/5): Very relaxing and comfortable - Very clean and well decorated. We were very comfortable and very much enjoyed our stay. There was no traffic noise so it was very peaceful. It is an excellent location for visiting Helmsley, Malton, pickering etc. We did all of our own cooking. The equipment was adequate but we would have liked more saucepans. There were instructions for the heating but not the microwave. We eventually worked this out! The fridge is a larder fridge which does not have a freezer compartment. This needs highlighting as we brought some frozen food for the second and third evenings e.g. frozen chips.

Saw the host who was lovely and checked we were happy. Great shower and a little treasure trove of a stay to go into York! Nothing :)

Clean, beautifully appointed, quiet apartment. Good breakfast & cake available at Hearts Cafe on-site. Comfy beds & excellent shower. The only one possible addition would be to provide a standard-lamp or similar in the lounge . Reading is difficult with existing lamps & main lights are rather bright in an evening.

• Tracy (8/5): A pleasant stay apart from some minor issues - Liked the position of apartment. The hosts were very welcoming. Some areas around the apartment that requires a little freshening up. Use of garden when bistro / cafe closed Hearing the local church bells chime on the hour every hour during the night( I know this is beyond the owners control but if your a lighter sleeper it impacts upon your sleep quality

• Phil (10/5): Cosy, comfortable, high quality accomodation at very good price in rural - Cosy and comfy first floor apartment. Immaculately clean and furnished. Lovely shower. Well stocked kitchen. We planned on eating out / in cafe downstairs but ended up staying in as facilities so good and accomodation so pleasant! A bit more info regards parking in advance would be helpful - neighbour was upset where we were unloading car. Other than this, flawless!!

• Karen (9/5): Very charming apartment in a quiet village. - Lovely village location. Very clean and tastefully decorated. Everything was provided (towels, crockery, tea bags etc). Welcome pack of biscuits and jam was very much appreciated. Slightly creaky floor boards (but it’s an old building) and a little noise from the cafe downstairs but only until it closes at 4pm so didn’t disturb us.

The adults found the bed uncomfortable but the kids loved theirs and I had to request the code for the key lock box.

• David (10/5): Lovely accomodation in a beautiful area, we will consider a longer visit in the future. - Property exceeded our expectations and located in a lovely area. The owners have clearly given a lot of thought to the furnishings and facilities. We didn't receive any directions on finding the property other than the postcode, however I saw from the reviews that is was located above a teashop so that made it realatively easy to find.
• Sally (10/5): Comfy cozy apartment with a garden and easy parking. - Lovely apartment in quite village. Nice tearoom below with a lovely garden which we could sit and enjoy a glass of wine. We loved the quirky decor and finishing touches . There was nothing we didnt like. As we were two ladies we would have liked a waste basket in the bedrooms. But that was all .
• Philippa (10/5): Acorn Apartment Ampleforth - Absolutely adore the location! Ampleforth and surrounds are in their own bubble of exceptional beauty. Hearts of Ampleforth Cafe is a must for breakfast. Thank you to Simon, his younger brother and team, for true Yorkshire hospitality and friendliness. Thank you also for the welcome basket. The village is a gem of quietness if that is what you are looking for. The White Swan, which is two minutes walk away, for dinner is a must, and we are sorry we didn't get the opportunity to go again. The only downside, and this is NOT a criticism, because we knew exactly what we booked. There is no off road parking but parking is not an issue outside Hearts of Ampleforth cafe. The village is so quiet we knew our car was safe.

If we were to stay again we would book for 2 nights and use the cafe below for breakfast. An excellent, friendly pub was just 2 minutes walk away and there are so many places to visit nearby. Tea,coffee,milk,small bread loaf,jar of jam and bag of crisps was a nice touch. Code not sent,tried calling office but closed for a week,local post office rang round and found someone we could call. We were above the cafe but it was closed for 2 weeks,we weren’t told of this as would have changed dates.had to drive to Helmsley for breakfast. Couldn’t get heating up so was a little cold.
