There was a garden to relax in at the end of a busy day. We enjoyed coffee and cake at the cafe downstairs. Two pubs close by for evening meals. A nice peaceful village but within easy reach of York and the coast and lots of interesting places to visit. We also appreciated the welcoming pack of local goodies.
- Naomi (10/5): Chris & Daves Wedding 30-08-25 - We absolutely love the apartment. Was so clean, tidy, and a lovely colour scheme.
Apologies, we couldn't come down to the tearoom. But we will pop into say goodbye before we leave. đ â¤ď¸
Thank you so much for an amazing stay in your apartment, and we will definitely stay here again again in the future.
Naomi, Anthony & Charlie For me, the bed was uncomfortable, but that's because i have health problems, especially in my bones, joints, and muscles.
The boys loved the bed and how comfortable for them it was.
Easy to get a bus into york. However, we wish taxi and Uber were slightly cheaper.
- Carol (9/5): We had a lovely stay in this really clean and very comfortable apartment. - A slight issue with cooking equipment which was immediately addressed by the owner
- Kerry (10/5): -

Nice little touch to provide books and games also! Canât really fault the place. Only one tiny thing, we couldnât see a kitchen bin. We did find rubbish bags which were provided so we used one of them.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Location was excellent for cycling and local tourist towns. The apartment had everything we needed. it was nice that our host left fresh bread, milk and jam to get us stsrted.

- J (9/5): Superb - Location excellent.
Apartment warm and comfortable. Spacious for 2. Awkward lock on door.
Heating instructions hidden under menus in kitchen rather than on shelf by heating controls

- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Stephen (10/5): Very relaxing and comfortable - Very clean and well decorated. We were very comfortable and very much enjoyed our stay.
There was no traffic noise so it was very peaceful.
It is an excellent location for visiting Helmsley, Malton, pickering etc. We did all of our own cooking. The equipment was adequate but we would have liked more saucepans.
There were instructions for the heating but not the microwave. We eventually worked this out!
The fridge is a larder fridge which does not have a freezer compartment. This needs highlighting as we brought some frozen food for the second and third evenings e.g. frozen chips.
- Oliver (10/5): It was an excellent facility and kind staff. 10/10 stay very cosy and good value for money m. - Very cosy and warm That itâs not actually York itâs Ampleforth and a 40 min drive out from York
- Reece (10/5): Comfortable and spacious, lovely area. Thir enjoyed the stay. - lovley apparentment, spotlessly clean. Home to home. Amazing host, very friendly and lovely. Nice welcome pack. Everything you need. Amazing food in the cafe down below. Will book again, a little tresure nothing not to like
- Lucie (10/5): Gorgeous cosy apartment perfect for visiting York! - Loved the little personal touches left by the host, lovely decor and had been deactivated for Christmas. Saw the host who was lovely and checked we were happy. Great shower and a little treasure trove of a stay to go into York! Nothing :)
- Elizabeth (10/5): We plan to return - Everything in the description of this property is correct. A welcome from the host, Elliott, on arrival with a basket of treats to set the tone of the stay. Clean, beautifully appointed, quiet apartment. Good breakfast & cake available at Hearts Cafe on-site. Comfy beds & excellent shower. The only one possible addition would be to provide a standard-lamp or similar in the lounge . Reading is difficult with existing lamps & main lights are rather bright in an evening.
- Sheila (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gaynor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanne (10/5): Would definitely recommend this apartment - Lovely clean apartment. Excellent welcome basket. Very good location
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tracy (8/5): A pleasant stay apart from some minor issues - Liked the position of apartment. The hosts were very welcoming.
Some areas around the apartment that requires a little freshening up.
Use of garden when bistro / cafe closed Hearing the local church bells chime on the hour every hour during the night( I know this is beyond the owners control but if your a lighter sleeper it impacts upon your sleep quality
- Robin (10/5): excellent - Breakfst and location were good All good
- Peter (10/5): Great place to stay - Very clean, all looked new.
- Barbara (9/5): The property and location perfect in every respect - The location was excellent - lots of places to visit within a short distance from the property, good local walking opportunities
The apartment fantastic - very clean, well equipped, comfortable - home from home I did not like parking on the street and the booking.com information did not make it clear that it was street parking.
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was excellent, a real home from home
- Julia (8/5): Very good -
- Liz (8/5): Very good -
- Phil (10/5): Cosy, comfortable, high quality accomodation at very good price in rural - Cosy and comfy first floor apartment. Immaculately clean and furnished. Lovely shower. Well stocked kitchen. We planned on eating out / in cafe downstairs but ended up staying in as facilities so good and accomodation so pleasant! A bit more info regards parking in advance would be helpful - neighbour was upset where we were unloading car. Other than this, flawless!!
- Jacqueline (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing, beautiful, and comfortable accommodation.
Thoughtful welcome pack.
Wonderful location.
Amazing food in the tearooms below.
Fabulous pub.....
I could go on xxx Having to leave x
- Karen (9/5): Very charming apartment in a quiet village. - Lovely village location. Very clean and tastefully decorated. Everything was provided (towels, crockery, tea bags etc). Welcome pack of biscuits and jam was very much appreciated. Slightly creaky floor boards (but itâs an old building) and a little noise from the cafe downstairs but only until it closes at 4pm so didnât disturb us.
- Otafranz (10/5): Exceptional - Is in a small town so you don't here anything from the outside, pretty good place to spend some days outside of the city Is 40 minute ride to York city, so keep in mind if you need to go there
- Libby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bridget (10/5): Lovely cosy, clean, well decorated apartment - Lovely complementary pack on arrival
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katie (9/5): Great location and great place to stay for a short break away. - The property was lovely and spacious offering lots of home comforts and lovely complimentary gifts on arrival. The adults found the bed uncomfortable but the kids loved theirs and I had to request the code for the key lock box.
- Daren (9/5): Superb - Lovely apartment with excellent attention to detail.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Lovely accomodation in a beautiful area, we will consider a longer visit in the future. - Property exceeded our expectations and located in a lovely area. The owners have clearly given a lot of thought to the furnishings and facilities. We didn't receive any directions on finding the property other than the postcode, however I saw from the reviews that is was located above a teashop so that made it realatively easy to find.
- Sally (10/5): Comfy cozy apartment with a garden and easy parking. - Lovely apartment in quite village.
Nice tearoom below with a lovely garden which we could sit and enjoy a glass of wine.
We loved the quirky decor and finishing touches . There was nothing we didnt like.
As we were two ladies we would have liked a waste basket in the bedrooms. But that was all .
- Philippa (10/5): Acorn Apartment Ampleforth - Absolutely adore the location! Ampleforth and surrounds are in their own bubble of exceptional beauty.
Hearts of Ampleforth Cafe is a must for breakfast.
Thank you to Simon, his younger brother and team, for true Yorkshire hospitality and friendliness.
Thank you also for the welcome basket.
The village is a gem of quietness if that is what you are looking for.
The White Swan, which is two minutes walk away, for dinner is a must, and we are sorry we didn't get the opportunity to go again. The only downside, and this is NOT a criticism, because we knew exactly what we booked. There is no off road parking but parking is not an issue outside Hearts of Ampleforth cafe. The village is so quiet we knew our car was safe.
- Barbara (8/5): We simply loved to stay here! -
- Nichola (10/5): Little gem - Could not fault this little gem. Lovely village, amazing teashop downstairs. The local pub does a fab take out if you want to stay in on an evening.
The team was so welcoming and genuinely wanted you to have a great time. Lots of facilities including a washing machine which meant we came home with minimal washing. None
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional -

- Harry (9/5): my sons and partners stayed here to attend a wedding just over 2 miles away in Coxwold. beautiful village and neighbouri - conveniently above a cafe which was open for breakfast
- Jai (10/5): lovely apartment, enjoyable stay. - lovely apartment in a quiet village. very well appointed. Welcome pack was appreciated. Heating on when we arrived. All cleaning products there to tidy up after yourself. lovely stay. would have appreciated a Dustpan and brush for the kitchen to clear up after my children.
- Debbie (9/5): A relaxing retreat. - Lovely welcome from the owners.
Apartment spotless and extremely well equipped.
If we were to stay again we would book for 2 nights and use the cafe below for breakfast.
An excellent, friendly pub was just 2 minutes walk away and there are so many places to visit nearby. Nothing to dislike.
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent Stay
- James (10/5): Great apartment! - Just a lovely apartment - would stay longer next time to enjoy the tea room below. Elliot is a great host and was available for anything we needed - which we didn't. Went into York - a lovely city with so much to see and do. Nothing.

Tea,coffee, milk, small bread loaf, jar of jam and bag of crisps was a nice touch. Code not sent, tried calling office but closed for a week, local post office rang round and found someone we could call. We were above the cafe but it was closed for 2 weeks,we werenât told of this as would have changed dates.had to drive to Helmsley for breakfast. Couldnât get heating up so was a little cold.
