Guest Reviews
- Catherine (10/5): Beautiful cottage in a great location to explore the North East - Such a comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage in a beautiful quiet location and really helpful owners.
- Wendy (10/5): Delightful cottage close to Durham - Delightful cottage - thoughtfully designed high quality barn conversion. All home comforts with thoughtful touches - fresh milk & eggs, tea, coffee, etc. Lovely and clean.
Country walks from the door whilst still being less than 15mins to central Durham.
We will return. Loved it all!
- Louis (10/5): Beautiful visit to the Durham countryside! - The property was so charming! It was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay, and very comfortable. Everything was done to a high standard. A great location from which to explore the Durham country side and the beautiful view right outside our door. Not to mention the cute sheep, chickens, and horses.
- Katie (10/5): Welcoming and comfortable accommodation in scenic area just outside Durham - Absolutely beautiful accommodation. Bedrooms on ground floor so no need to hike luggage upstairs. Kitchen very well equipped, and fresh eggs from the resident chickens a lovely bonus. Parking very easy on gravel turn-in - plenty of room. Lovely views from both main bedroom and living space upstairs. Really is a well thought out conversion. Very clean throughout and lots of useful local information, walk books, history etc. As we were visiting our son in Durham, we didn't get to make the most of the immediate location, but would definitely like to visit again to rectify this!
- Victoria (10/5): Comfortable and relaxing stay! - Host Vickie was brilliant, great communication with all of our questions. The property was finished to a very high standard and had everything one would need for a comfortable stay. Fresh hens eggs, biccys and a jug of fresh milk for us on arrival. We had a lovely comfortable stay and will return!! There was nothing we didn’t like.
- Andrea (10/5): Perfection - Location was fabulous, the cottage was beautiful Having to come home, there was nothing not to dislike
- Susan (10/5): Really enjoyed our stay here! - Lovely location and very comfortable accommodation.
- Katie Lois Ibbotson (10/5): -
- Ricardo (10/5): Perfect! - Comfortable and cozy cottage- we loved it!
- James (10/5): Beautiful farm lodge, great for families and convenient , quiet location. - Beautiful location, lovely countryside and nice walks to the nearest village. Nice easy drive into Durham. Bed was so comfortable and kitchen well stocked of equipment. Wifi was a little touch and go on a couple of occasions but didn't affect us too much.
- Vicky (10/5): Country escape - We were upgraded to Cross Cottage which was beautifully decorated, warm, inviting and cozy. Lovely peaceful countryside and would have liked to have stayed longer. Country cottage close to all attractions. Perfect in every way
- Alison (10/5): A lovely cottage in a great location. It was extremely well equipped and comfortable. - Great views, quiet location but with easy access to road to drive to other locations. N/a
- Nigel (9/5): - Very comfortable and clean. Excellent location. Very limited space in bedrooms, difficult to get around bed.
Shower door difficult to open .
- Rodriguez (10/5): - Everything - home from home Nothing
- Maryvonne (10/5): - Son emplacement, son aménagement et son confort Rien, tout est parfait pour moi
- Gordon (10/5): -
- John (10/5): - Practically everything. Nothing to dislike.
All the little extras in the cottage we're brilliant.
Great quiet location, just a few miles from Durham . Not so much a dislike, but a handle in the shower is probably a necessity. (Nothing to grab if one fell)
- Meuryn (9/5): Excellent - appreciated little extras on arrival -
- Barbara (9/5): Superb - Spacious, clean.great location. Good communication with host.
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (10/5): Excellent - The cottage had been decorated and furnished to a really high standard and was extremely comfortable. We enjoyed the view from the seating outside. The hosts had thoughtfully left biscuits and milk for us. There was also a supply of tea, coffee and sugar. It made a perfect base for a long weekend of sightseeing and relaxing. Even though it was on an active farm, it felt very private and peaceful. A basket or shelf in the shower would have been helpful to hold shower gel, etc. Also, perhaps a thought to add grab-rails for anyone who appreciates a bit of help with balance. But those are minor comments - we were so pleased with the cottage overall and how comfortable and well-equipped it was.
- Filer (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - Very well equipped. Super clean. Straight out the door for beautiful running/walking/cycling route. We will be back. Many thanks Bathroom door in twin bedroom is super noisy to open and close
- Anwen (10/5): Homely - Beautiful, clean cottage with ample amenities. Well presented and comfortable.
- Sheila (10/5): Beautiful, comfortable property in a gorgeous location. - The cottage is beautiful and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. It was perfect!
- Ross (10/5): Hayloft 5+☆ - Amazing little cottage, very warm and cosy AND clean.
Great facilities. Didn't actually meet up with hosts, but communicated several times by email, very hospitable. Def recommend and stay again if ever back in the UK.
- Rob (10/5): Will be back next year -
- Jenny (8/5): Absolutely beautiful - An absolute gem ❤️ the location is beautiful and perfect for exploring Durham. Inside is beautifully decorated and furnished really thoughtfully - I can't believe they have a washing machine and a dishwasher! Everything was really well stocked, it was a really enjoyable stay.
Our only personal issue, was the beds were really hard and for us, it caused disruptive sleep. Obviously, mattresses are a really personal thing so this would not stop me from recommending this place! However, for us, the comfort was just not right.
- Jessica (9/5): A hidden gem near Durham - Tranquil location, just a short drive from Durham. The accomodation itself is well furnished; the beds were firm and very comfortable. The hosts can be easily reached and are approachable!
Thank you for an enjoyable stay!
- Patricia (10/5): Lovely accommodation, fantastic location. - Well appointed, beautiful rooms. Lovely location. Bathrooms and bedrooms were beautiful but small. Twin bedroom had a chest of drawers in it but difficult to access.
- Kay (8/5): Very good - Spotlessly clean, great showers, very comfortable beds, and great location. Don't miss Brancepeth Castle!
- Dryden (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely property, clean and well maintained. Everything we needed.
- Jacqui (9/5): Superb -
- Eleanor (10/5): Beautiful location and lovely space, fittings and decor. - Space and quality of furnishings were great and location was perfect. The kitchen was well designed and had everything needed. Bedrooms and bathrooms were hilariously small, but it’s a farm so not surprising, and not too bad for one or two people. The bedroom curtains didn’t close fully which allowed some light in and lacked privacy. The bedroom door had to be closed at night because the bed could be seen from the window in the front door which also wasn’t great for privacy.
- Elaine (10/5): Excellent - Immaculate, warm & cozy, very comfortable beds, wonderful shower. Nothing
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elaine (9/5): Superb -
- Leighton (10/5): Fantastic place at a fantastic price - Everything was immaculate and the owners fo friendly. Loved seeing the sheep and horses too. Nothing
- Purves (9/5): Beautiful cottage - Everything, cottage and location great. Only problem was the en-suite doors, very noisy to open and close.
- Jorge (10/5): Excellent conditions -
- Debra (9/5): Excellent property, warm and very well equipped in a lovely location. - Very good location, extremely comfortable, and great attention to detail.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Denise (8/5): Warm and cozy bolt hole on a windswept night - Loved the rain showers in the en-suite bathrooms. Appreciated that the bedrooms were on the ground floor as the last night was very windy which was evident upstairs in the great room but quiet once we went to bed. The view was lovely. Directions were very easy to follow to find the cottage. Kitchen well kitted out. Sofa very comfy and lots of selection of books and games if needed. No trouble with the Wifi even on the windy evening. Very close to Durham and Beamish museum which were our two aims. Appreciated the discount coupon for the museum. Nice to have a cloakroom upstairs so we didn't have to go downstairs to the bathroom. Shelves in the bathrooms would have been handy. The en-suite barn doors were noisy and hard to move. Those of us on the shorter side had difficulty seeing the views from the great room windows - maybe a wooden block for people to step up onto? There wasn't much room to walk around the end of the beds.
- Mary (10/5): Homely farm stay ideally located near to Durham. - The cottage was beautifully kitted out, very cosy, warm and felt very homely but also clean and modern. The location was great - on a quiet farm but easily accessible to everywhere else. Cute little doggy came to greet us as we were checking out!
- Vivienne (10/5): Perfect for relaxation & easy access to surrounding attractions - Everything
- Julie (9/5): A great location and a beautiful cottage finished to a very high standard. - The cottage location was perfect for exploring Durham and the surrounding area. It was very spacious with the added bonus of en suites for both bedrooms. There was everything that you could need for a shot or longer stay. The host were very helpful and easily contactable. The cottage is finished to a very high standard and I would recommend it for couples and families. Nothing
- Johnson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antonella (10/5): Wonderful, relaxing stay! - Beautiful, comfortable cottage. Lovely hosts. Wonderfully quiet area. We loved feeding the chickens.
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carole (10/5): Spot on - The cottage was gorgeous extremely clean and well appointed the hosts were lovely and the location perfect we had no complaints at all There was nothing we didn't like

- Kirstie (10/5): Just what we needed! We will be back - Beautifully decorated, fabulous location, spotless and had everything we needed for a family of 4. Vicky was a lovely host and very helpful. Plenty of information left to help us enjoy our stay. We will definitely be back! Can’t think of anything! So peaceful
- Helen (10/5): Superb barn conversion - Exceptionally clean and comfortable with all amenities, character beams and spacious lounge-diner, ensuite rooms, comfy beds, walk-in shower with plenty of hot water. Nice outdoor seating area with lovely views. On-site parking within courtyard. Fantastic rural location yet close enough to Durham, Beamish, Corbridge, Hexham Abbey and Hadrian's wall. Friendly hosts. Perfect. .
- Colin (8/5): Very good -
- Kate (9/5): Good quality accommodation in a beautiful location - Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well equipped. Nice gesture to provide teabags, milk and the fresh eggs. Nice friendly welcome.
- Megarry (10/5): Fantastic place, highly recommend it - This property is beautifully and thoughtfully appointed, gorgeous My only very minor issue was that I had no shower gel with me and none was supplied.
- Paul (10/5): 100% spot on.... everything that one could need and more! - Fabulous location
Superb Accommodation Standard
Vicci the host couldn't be more wonderful Nothing.
All perfect
- Anna (9/5): Superb -
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (10/5): Perfect stay! - We were so happy with our stay here. The cottage was in a quiet location (close enough to Durham for us) and so close to the lovely little village of Brancepeth and its golf course. It had everything we needed, was super comfy, and it was lovelier still than the photos. The hosts were so friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend and will stay here again when we next pass through Durham. Thank you!
