Guest Reviews
- Sheila (1/5): Too far too old big damp patch on the wall by the front door. Wouldn't recommend the house . - We didn't stay there beds were old style like grandma's feather bed and duvets looked ancient so didn't duvet covers. I didn't like the beds so never stayed there. Didn't like the duvets or covers looked old when out
- William (8/5): Nice quite break - Location was perfect very quite and close to supermarket House was very cosy
- Paul (5/5): Extremely disappointed - It was in a good location There was no welcome pack of any description, not even a drop of milk for late arrivals unlike the many other places iv booked in Donegal
There was no WiFi
The tv didn’t have one single channel
The host wasn’t much help
Definitely a lot to do to compete with other cottage’s for rent
- Fiona (1/5): Without water - I was with Spanish friends and had been travelling all day, was looking forward to having a shower and there was no water.
Owner was in Dublin and not much help. Told me that there's often a problem with the water supply in the area. Think this should be something put on the information so people can check before arriving!
Fortunately we'd a 5 litre bottle with us to do some cooking and have tea. There was no firewood or matches even though the owner replied that yes there was, after me texting her that there wasn't!
Nearest shop and pub were closed. There was heating in the cottage but I'd Spanish friends with me and they were looking forward to having a cosy night in so we drove to Dungloe, the nearest town and found lovely helpful young staff in the Cope who carried the firewood and kindle to our car. Fortunately we got to fill bottles of water from a lake to use for the toilet.
Had stayed at the cottage a few weeks before with my son and enjoyed it but I definitely won't be back after this disaster with no water and no real backup help from the owner. Hugely disappointing especially when I was bringing friends who were on holiday.
- Seána (8/5): - The property was very homely and comfortable. The bed in particular was so soft and nice! The cottage was very cosy and the check-in/checkout was super easy. Thanks so much for having us, would love to come stay again for longer.
- Deirdre (10/5): - Beautiful cottage, very good value for money. Me and my mum stayed for one night and went to Burtonport for dinner (10 minute drive) we really enjoyed our stay.
- Muhammad Rehan (4/5): Ok - location stuffy, not cleaned at all. Sheets were not changed.
- Maria (9/5): -
- Ciarán (10/5): -
- Owen (10/5): My wife and I stayed here with our 2 young daughters. It was exceptional, and great value for money - Cosy, clean, nicely decorated interior.
- Sean (7/5): -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - It was, for me, the perfect location. It's central to a lot of areas in Donegal, with none of them being a long drive.
- Fiammetta (10/5): A great stay in a cozy cottage in a stunning area - A lovely cottage well equipped in a very tranquil area
- Gearóid (10/5): Perfect to stop over or to explore the area. - Had everything we needed, perfect for a place to rest on our road trip. Cooking facilities, comfy beds, easy access, seating area outside to relax in. Yes there were some bugs but it's rural Donegal folks! Shower was weak but hot. Still had a decent shower!
- Thomas (6/5): Suited me perfectly in many ways; I arrived after 9.00 pm and left at 8.30 am. - V quiet location. Area at the back needs attention. Some flowers/shrubs in the walled area would help a lot.
Green carpet/artificial grass lying on ground, not a good look.
Wardrobe door not attached.
Broken tile in bottom of shower.
Dishcloth beside kitchen sink appeared grubby, not a good look.
Bed was very comfortable!!
Attention to these fine details would help a lot .
Property has a great location for the outdoors: hiking, cycling etc.
It has considerable potential but interior decor needs a spruce up; for example the clock wasn’t working!
- Euan (7/5): Nice for an overnight stop off but make sure you have food with you to cook as the village facilities are very basic. - Stayed here one night on a motorcycle trip. It was the one day it rained so it was handy to have a whole house with room to dry off and organise our wet gear. There was safe out of sight parking for the bikes and if the weather had been better no doubt it was a nice place to sit outside. There’s a friendly pub in the village but be aware it does not serve food and the little shop has very little other than the basics. Never saw the owner though we spoke on the phone to locate the key and she sounded lovely and let us have access to the place early which was a relief due to the bad weather. It’s a nice house in a great location but it’s in need of a little tlc now and maybe a declutter outside.
- Donna (1/5): Don’t waste your money. There’s luxury stays. There’s basics. And then there’s you should have gone straight home. Go ho - Nothing - I didn’t say- I drove 3 hrs home instead after ringing for an extra 30 mins to get to the property Straight away smelled of damp on opening door. Didn’t want to stay.
No wifi. Bed not comfortable. Looks and feels abandoned
- Leeann (1/5): Lawns were all overgrown with weeds - Place was dirty and hair in the beds and lipstick on glasses and smells damp
- Andrew (7/5): Good -
- Lena (7/5): Enjoyed our stay over all. - Location is amazing, beautiful views, very peaceful and quiet. Beautiful garden. Comfortable beds. Kitchen and bathroom could be a bit cleaner. Garden is beautiful but could be better maintained.
- Nathan (9/5): Superb -
- King (9/5): Superb -
- Neil (2/5): Disgusted - Nothing much Pictures of the property must have been old ones as the property definitely wasn't anything like the pics..... rubbish all over garden, garden furniture held together with duck tape and garden completely overgrown, inside the property mould, cobwebs, other guests food & half drunk water, wardrobe broke and headboard, no blinds/curtains for privacy in kitchen/living area either.
- Meister (7/5): Good -
- Terry (1/5): Bad - Place was smelly and dirty linen and towels
- Philip (8/5): Very good -
- Philip (2/5): Horrible filthy and disgusting - Nice location. Relaxing place to stay Cottage was filthy. Dog hairs and human hairs on the bedding. dust everywhere. Bird poop inside worktops and plates. Food particles on sofa. Floors have not been hoovered or mopped. Mould and dam over walls to where paint has started chopping off walls and has been left on the floors. Bathroom floor disgusting. Hairs and dirt everywhere. 2 towels left for 2 nights. One towel has bleach all over it. 1 toilet roll. No washing up liquid for dishes. No milk, teabags had expired with mould on them. Tv has no stations or internet. No welcome pack or anything. Host very rude when contacted and tried to say she was concerned for her property with us staying just because we reported the issues off the cleanliness to her. Bed was comfy which was the only great thing.
- Joanne (9/5): Superb -
- Aoife (8/5): Great location for heading out to explore Donegal. -
- Mary (10/5): Slice Of Heaven - Loved the homely atmosphere throughout the house. Beautiful scenery and so quiet N/A
- Flora (7/5): Good - Beautiful house, very well decorated
Very good bed
Good location
Peaceful place Lack of cleaning in the house
Insects, Spiders and spider webs everywhere, dirty floor
The garden and terrace are very poorly maintained
- Larry (8/5): get away from it all! - Comfortable and quiet.
There's no Internet or TV but that was not a problem. We enjoyed the serenity.
- Raquel (3/5): Poor - Was very cute No towels even if the booking said that it has. No heat at the main room because the electronic fireplace wasn't working. The products like coffe and tea were expired for 2 years. The cooking space was dirty and some of the stuff like saucepan was broken. The location from the app was wrong, so we needed to call the owner and then they send us the correct eircode but not before. The shower didn't have a curtain neither shampoo and gel.
First look was very cute the place but not functional at all.
The room for two people was okey, no regrets with that.
- Moira (8/5): Very pleasant - The quiet location
House very comfortable but could be better with a microwave and washing machine No microwave or washing machine
- Manjula (9/5): Superb -
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. The house was perfect especially the open fire which was so relaxing at night time. The wild gardens were outstanding which helped encourage birds and other wildlife. The village itself was beautiful and so well kept with lovely walkways. If you are looking for a nice quiet relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the city then this is the place for you. The negative reviews were misleading property was perfect in everyway.
- Satish (7/5): Good -
- Vytautas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sidhu (3/5): Poor -
- Lloyd (8/5): Very good -
- Bobby (4/5): Disappointing - Location was perfect, remote and quiet Was extremely unclean, dusty and dirty. Received a message from property late in the evening day before we were due to arrive stating that checkin was not available until 5.30pm as they had somebody 'doing a job' at the property. We delayed iur arrival and got there at 5.45pm to find a woman cleaning the property. She said we had to wait about 30 mins as she was not finished. She informed us the owner had requested she clean between 5-6pm. Her cleaning must have simply involved mopping the floors, as place was covered in dust, spiders webs and fleece throw in bedroom had multiple large stains on it.
Wood burning stove and outside wood burner were full of ash.
Facilities advertised included flat screen tv and dvd player - we found a remote control and handful of dvds, but no tv or dvd player.
On the second night we heard a car pull up the driveway and people getting out and chatting outside. After few minutes we asked if we could help or if they were in the correct property, but it was the owners cousin dropping off some things.
Shower/bathroom is a fully tiled wet room, which is great, except the drain for the shower is blocked, so anymore than 30 seconds in the shower and the room floods with water then running into the hallway. The shower wall looks unstable as the tiles are bulging as if wall has collapsed behind them.Toilet seat was also broken.
Septic tank maybe needed emptied as there was a very stronge smell of sewage from bathroom and drains the entire 3 days.
- Joseph (9/5): Superb - It was quiet, peaceful and relaxing It had no TV and microwave
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Shauna (5/5): Passable - Bed Gardens were completely different in the pictures than in person.. hot water wasn't great
- Thoke (8/5): Value for money!! Nice clean comfy house with good location - Value for money!!
Nice clean house with good location. Shower water pressure was very low.
- Peter (3/5): Discussed - The location No tv,dvd, dog bed or bowls as listed in facilities , broken toilet seat, no single bedding, there was double duvets folded over, and the pillows were fusty, missing drawer in main bedroom, the settees were collapsed underneath and the cushion covers were filfy, the outside was an overgrown mess, patio area stunk from the smell coming from the inspection chamber, and all the patio furniture was broken and unusable, this is disgraceful to charge people for, we have a special needs son who rely on tv to relax, I was totally shocked by the state of this place, and very dissatisfied 😡
- Alan (9/5): Superb -
- Oliver (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerry (5/5): Passable - The bed after we changed the linen Not cleaned, no smell of freshness
- Magda (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful home decor which gives you a good mood and relaxation
- Bronagh (1/5): No tv no internet house really unclean ! Cigarette stubs and ash tray under bed. Really dusty -
- Angeline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (9/5): Superb - The location. Good garden for dog.
Comfortable beds. River walks close by. No microwave. TV did't work.
There was a smell of sewerage in the morning . No WiFi.
- Angie (8/5): Comfy cottage, great location - Beautiful peaceful location comfy cottage Little signal and no wifi lack of fuel for log burner
- Aleksandr (8/5): Nice and cosy cottage.Garden is just a great place for meditation. - Perfect location-in the middle of the County.
Beautiful river walk nearby.
Very good hospitality from all the locals.
- Claire (10/5): Excellent cottage and host was great and very accomodating. -
- Alison (8/5): Very good - Lovely house, beautiful location, we'll definitely be back!!
- Stephen (10/5): Everything you need quiet getaway. Will be back. - Warm comfortable and quiet A few more pots for cooking but we managed well.
- Anonymous (1/5): Disappointing is an over statement. The host blew my mind with how rude and unhelpful they were and just could not under - Nothing as never got to see it The host . Not helpful what so ever and never apologised for not being attentive
- Fiona (1/5): Rude and bad - I booked the wrong day and tried to swap it and was told I’d have to pay nearly the same. Also I was asked to revolut straight to them
- Melindaki (8/5): Lovely and quiet cottage - The bed was super comfortable, the location was great, and our host was lovely! The whole place was very cute!
Ideal if you are looking for something quiet! The shower in the bathroom had very low pressure and it was straight on the floor without anything around it so the bathroom floor would be full of water after a shower.
The phone data was not working inside the cottage and since there was no wifi, we didn't have any internet connection in the cottage.
Nothing too bad though.
- Oliver (10/5): Exceptional -
- Umesh (7/5): Good -
- Karmelle (8/5): Overall, perfect place to stay. It’s a type of property that you would want to go back and let your friends know. - Charming and spacious for group of 4 people There was no microwave and TV
- Hannon (10/5): The most beautiful stay in the most amazing cottage. The views were amazing the food was amazing I couldn’t fault it at -
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Carmellita (1/5): Bad - Nothing Needs a total revamp.
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Serena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (10/5): Beautiful place to stay - Beautiful home so clean. Very comfortable. Would highly reccomend
- Jacqueline (6/5): Pleasant - The house was okay, the beds are good.
Location is good. The description of facilities states that it includes towels and toilet paper, but not. There were 3 towels on the bed for the whole week. Marie said it is not a hotel it is a self catering house and that I should just wash the towels etc. NO service at all. There aren't really any pans for cooking either and it is a self catering house.
When you take a shower the whole bathroom is wet.
I found that Marie was very ruth to me on the phone.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Quiet, sleepy hamlet but a great base to discover the area! - Perfect, refurbished Irish cottage. Very close to pub.
- Daly (7/5): Good - The house was lovely. Very clean and cosy and best of all we could take are dog with us. It would probably benefit from a few channels on the TV or maybe a few dvds. When the weather is not good there is little to do. Other than that we had a great stay.
- Yeates (9/5): Superb - House was beautiful. Extremely comfortable to sleep in at night. The views around the area are absolutely spectacular. We all really loved staying here.
- Niamh (6/5): Nice stay, good location, comfortable house. - Good location, good communication with host. Lacking certain items normal to a bnb - sharp knives for cooking, extra bin bags, extra tea towels. No internet access and a tv that didn’t connect to any service.
- Ian (8/5): Very good - Beautiful, peaceful, quiet location. The building has been recently restored and the owners have obviously taken a lot of care and effort in their choices.
Bed in the main bedroom is wonderfully comfortable The cooking utensils could have been a bit better. We stayed as a couple but with maximum occupancy the pots and pans might have been a bit small.
Some more shelving in the bathroom would be handy
- Eveleen (4/5): Disappointing - Too far away hard to get taxi Too far away from town no taxi
- Al (8/5): Very good - Convenient location for hiking. Very clean. Nice touches such as fresh milk and butter in fridge, portion of dog food in cupboard. Very comfortable bed. Very low pressure in shower. Kitchen utensils need to be replenished: eg no chopping knife or can -opener. Pots and pans old with non-stick surfaces worn off.
- Mary (9/5): Very nice but weather not very favourable. - A bit remote but ok when we were driving ourselves TV not tuned in. No Wi-Fi
- Pawel (9/5): Superb - Fire place was awesome Hard to find using booking.com. eircode is required to find the place
- Edel (9/5): Superb - Such a clean, cute and modern little cottage house. Nothing.
- Croeser (9/5): It was a lovely stay, could easily have extended our stay, if we had the days available. - Lovely house, spacious and comfortable. The location was peaceful - loved the bench in the garden; suitable for meditation.
Loved the jigsaw puzzle that was available for building - pity that we didn't have the time to do so. Obviously a house that is being newly upgraded, so short of a few minor things, ie wine glasses, but no juice glasses. Definitively not a train smash though
- Bridget (7/5): Good - Excellent Location
The rooms and decor were very nice
Lovely outside area Water flow to Shower very weak
Toaster didn't work
No TV signal
Dog dirt on driveway
- Serena (10/5): Exceptional - Highly recommended for peaceful stay. Over looking the country views.
The place is spotless and has everything you need.
Excellent attention to detail on the design and decoration of the cottage. Nothing
- Mcdonald (9/5): Superb - Lovely setting. Very pretty house. The Google directions directed us to a derelict house further up the road. My husband went to the local store nearby, and the very helpful young man (after seeing a picture) directed us to the correct house - however I have been having problems with my phone, so that could have been the issue.
- Ian (7/5): Good -
- Lynsey (10/5): excellent stay would definitely recommend - very quiet peaceful and well maintained property nothing
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Great location across from the local pub and the geewbarra river which was my purpose to come for salmon fishing. Dooey beach 6 minute drive.
