Guest Reviews
- Kelly (9/5): - The owner is extremely friendly and helpful, she gave us great suggestions for the best baths and restaurants. It is a very short walk to all the baths and the room was very comfortable and spacious
- Silas (10/5): -
- Tim (9/5): Truly magical, already planning how and when to return. - A wonderful magical experience, I intend to return as soon as circumstances allow. The only drawback, and I do not fault the proprietor for this, was that they did not carry a yukata or sandals in my rather expansive size.
- Jonathon (10/5): - Extraordinarily welcoming and homey Ryokan. The staff is lovely always there to make sure you are comfortable and have lots of recommendations for things to do and eat. The experience is personal, rather than anonymous. The room we had
was was so sweet. You could see layers of the history of the Ryokan in the room.
- Martín (10/5): Incredible Ryokan with the best host - It was such a lovely and personalised experience. Ryoko was such a lovely host and helped us reserve dinner while we were there twice.
Would definitely come back. The rooms are cozy ans located next to the best Onsen! Nothing it was the best time we had in Japan
- Ramírez (10/5): - The owners ' kindness and dévotion to make one feel like at home , yet experiencing the tradition of Japan s culture. That we had to leave. Wish we could stay longer.
- Tim (8/5): -
- Leonell (10/5): -
- Winai (8/5): slow life and simplify - The breakfast was simple. The location is a bit far from the train station, but it's walkable I like the simplicity and charm of the owner.
- yuuki (7/5): -
- Vitchayut (10/5): - Amazing ryokan experience! Staffs and owner are very nice and helpful. There is no bath in this ryokan but it is just 1 minute from public onsen bath. Owner is very kind.
- Anita (10/5): Exceeded expectations and would definitely return. - Breakfast was included and in a lovely restaurant across the street.
The owner Reiko is very friendly, helpful and speaks excellent English. She made a dinner reservation for us, before we got to the Ryokan, at an excellent local restaurant, a truly memorable meal.
All in all a Wonderful stay! Everything was fine but you have to be comfortable sleeping on a futon on the floor, as this is a traditional Ryokan.
- Reuben (9/5): -
Siamo state molto bene qui e torneremmo senza dubbio in futuro.
- LUN CHI (7/5):
- Stamena (10/5): Beautiful ryokan with stunning view onto the river and the most amazing host - I enjoyed the view from my spacious room, the style of this ryokan in general and it’s location. The host topped it all though with her warmth, gentleness and her help. She truly is a host! I just felt so comfortable!
Thank you! Nothing
- Derek (10/5): - Super kind hosts. Clean Room, awesome experience.
- Ngo (10/5): The host family warmth and friendliness stood out the most, coupled with clean facilities and amenities made our stay qu - Great English-speaking hostess who helped us navigate the public Onsens and recommend restaurants based on our dietary preferences. It felt like coming home - so many personal touches that made the stay extra precious! Nothing to dislike
- Enni (8/5): -
- Samuele Maria (7/5): La signora era gentilissima e accogliente.
- matěj (10/5): - Very nice friendly host who spoke English and explained to us everything we needed.
- Jacqui (10/5): Beautiful authentic stay with wonderful hosts! - Wonderful hosts!
- Harriet (9/5): -
- Harriet (9/5): -
- Kusumo (10/5): -
- Dominic (10/5): Super friendly, great location. - Amazing
- Denny (10/5): The host lady was very nice 😊 she helped me deal with my unique situation and I am forever grateful and appreciative! it - I liked that the city in general is straightforward to navigate. This ryokan was 15 min approx from the train station, very close to three public onsets (1 min approx walk), and very close to Kinosaki ropeway. facilities were clean!🧼 No complaints!
- Oscar (10/5): -
Wszystko super, adekwatnie do miejsca.
- Thomas (10/5): Quaint and comfortable. - Quaint facility, excellent location with friendly staff who helped us navigate the onsens and beat the afternoon rush. Comfortable futon beds. We also loved the included breakfast and enjoyed the sitting area overlooking the canal.
- Roxan. (9/5): - Es cerca a varios onsen
- peak sim (10/5): glad that i have make a right choice - the host is really superb friendly and helpful.provide us recommendation of day spent .location is superb, its at the end of the street.but we enjoy so much as we could explore shops along the way to hryokan from the train station.and the most beautiful onsen is within 2 to 5 minutes from ryokan. We arrived around 1pm,stroll along the street, shopping, eating, photo shooting..then reached hotel check in time.room are spacious and clean and we love so much the tradition japanese style room.
Host provide us yukata.oh ya...the ropeway oso just right opposite the ryokan.to summary, its really a great place to stay.will be back here if coming to kinosaki again.location is just superb.and most important host is friendly. nothing
- Clementine (10/5): -
- Lachlan (10/5): A beautiful place to stay and a wonderful town to explore - The location and the lovely couple that run the place were wonderful! They were so helpful and kind and really made our night very special. The room was clean and had a beautiful view over the river. The onsens were all within walking distance and the provided Yakata were comfortable. Overall a lovely place to stay. The pillows were a little uncomfortable as we slept traditional form on the floor and I have a bad neck but everything else was wonderful.
- Knox (10/5): Great stay. - Old school. Traditional style. Staff was amazing. Nicest person I’ve ever met. It was all great.
- Matthew (10/5): - Wonderful lady that would go out of her way to help, chat and share her household.
Made the stay
Great view and location.
Decent price. Shared toilet
Smaller room than most
- Timothy (10/5): A perfect stay - I had a wonderful 2 nights here. Very comfortable and a perfect location for visiting the onsens. The owner was very kind and welcoming and enjoyed learning about the history of the ryokan. Grazie Mille!
- Helena (10/5): Great host and comfortable stay - Very nice host was lovely perfect location Shared bathroom very small toilet,

- Igor (9/5): -
- Vanessa Jane (10/5): The highlight of our Japan trip. Highly recommended - Everything. None
- Atticus (10/5): Absolutely fantastic place, lovely host, and perfect location. - The property itself was gorgeous and set up well. The rooms themselves are lovely, the perfect size, and very very clean. The owner, Raeko, is an absolute delight, and is incredibly kind and easy to talk to. I would happily stay again just to see her alone! The location is perfect, right next to the gorgeous temple and the Main Street. Nothing at all to dislike, the stay was perfect.
- Jack (9/5): The owner was so nice... - The owner of the Ryokan was so nice and friendly that it made the stay worthwhile. She was happy to tell you where the nice spots in Kinosaki Onsen are and she was also able to tell me which Onsen's were quiet and nice for a nervous first timer Onsen customer.
- Fershad (10/5): -
- Indra (10/5): A Perfect Stay in Kinosaki Onsen! - We had a wonderful stay at this charming traditional ryokan in Kinosaki Onsen. From the very beginning, Reiko, our host, was absolutely amazing. She warmly welcomed us, allowed us to leave our luggage before check-in, and took the time to explain everything about Kinosaki Onsen in great detail. She shared helpful tips, local insights, and even helped us plan how to make the most of our day and how to wear the Yukata.
Throughout our stay, Reiko made sure we felt comfortable and truly valued. She even made restaurant reservations for us and surprised us with a delicious Japanese cookie. Such a thoughtful gesture that made us feel very appreciated.
The ryokan itself is a beautiful, close to to two ( and also our favorite onsen). It’s a traditional old house full of charm and warmth, exactly what you hope for when visiting Kinosaki Onsen. It had everything we needed and more.
We felt at home from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. We can only recommend this place to anyone who wants an authentic, relaxing, and heartwarming ryokan experience.
- Demelza (10/5): A perfect ryokan stay - The warmest welcome from Raiko and her husband! It was privilege to stay in their historic Ryokan which comes with a free pass to all the onsens. I loved the retro decor and the river views from my traditional tatami mat room. The futon was very comfortable. The breakfast was a wonderful addition to the stay (delicious french toast and coffee in a beautiful nearby cafe). The ryokan is located just off the main onsen street which is wonderfully peaceful. All the onsens were a 5-10 minute walk away Nothing!
- Katherine (10/5): - Very friendly staff, we really enjoyed our stay here! The location is perfect and the Ryokan is clean and comfortable. The breakfast (served across the road) is filling and the coffee was delicious.
- Matthias (10/5): Very nice, ancient Ryokan in good location. - The nicest guest lady is so kind and helpful.
- Myeongkyu (9/5): -
- Oliver (8/5): -

- erica (10/5): - Ryokan bellissimo, tenuto bene e molto pulito.
Potessi, tornerei subito!

- bv (10/5): Perfect - We literally want to adopt these people. If you ever go to Kinosai Onsen, stay with Tachi and his lovley wife Reiko at the Migumiya Ryokan. Ive stayed all over the world, but never before with such nice people.
- George (10/5): - Wonderful host, she was very kind and put in a lot of effort to show us the key spots within the town, how to access the onsens, provided us with discount tickets for the rope way and booked a restaurant for us that evening. The property was incredibly clean, very traditional and made us feel like we were experiencing a typical Japanese home. We wish we could have stayed longer! N/A
- Gian (10/5): Charming place very Japanese style exactly how i imagined it. - The beautiful views, the classic touch from every corner of the property which make feel in the old Japanese century. Everything was great is what expected
- Vesa (9/5): Superb - Nice stay in a nice hotel with good value. Nice owner greeting us at arrival.
Second visit to Kinosaki and it was as delightful as I remember it. Nice stumbling along the roads in yukata on the way from one onsen to another. Breakfast outsourced to a café near by. Breakfast included, but not very much in the menu was included, so it was difficult to avoid spending money on extras. For instance, only one drink included, so if you take coffee, you have to pay for juice.
- Cindy (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, friendly, and accommodating. One of my favorite places I've ever stayed in!
- Natchanon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful spot. We had a view of the mountains and canal to drink our tea too each morning. The owner was super welcoming, aided in finding restaurants, and helped us map the onsens and pick the best bathing times. A wonderful stay in a magical place.
- Frederik (10/5): Exceptional - Incredibly warm and friendly place
- Kerry (9/5): An amazing stay in a traditional lodging in a stunning location. - A traditional property run by a 4th generation family with incredibly helpful and caring staff who made recommendations and reservations for meals. Room was large and had amazing view of cherry blossoms and the canal. Included breakfast was at a new cafe across the road which was delicious. Easy 5-10min walk to all the onsens. Nothing!
- Gabriel (8/5): Very good -
- Laurence (10/5): Exceptional - We absolutely loved staying at this place. First of all, the hosts couldn't have been nicer. They spoke very good English, which was helpful. The room we had was spacious and well appointed, with a lovely view of the canal. Migumiya is slightly set back in the quieter part of town near the ropeway. We very much preferred this. And our favorite Onsen was only a minute's walk away. Very reasonably priced. Breakfast was in a beautiful and clean Cafe just across the street.
- Julie (10/5): Unforgettable stay :) - The best experience and stay we’ve had in Japan. Maybe ever. From start to end the host was so welcoming and sweet. Always made time for us for helping us with reservations, how to wear our typical Japanese yukata. Also the room is so clean and close to all the onsen. The breakfast and coffee is delicious, just 10/10. Everything was perfect, the only thing to mention is you will definitely miss out if you don’t sleep here during your stay in Kinosaki!!
- Raymond (10/5): Beautiful and relaxing - How kind the staff was
- Esmeralda (10/5): Amazing location and incredible host. Would stay again. - The host was amazing. She worked with us to get a last minute dinner reservation. I would 100% come back in the future and I am recommending the place to all my friends. None, stay was perfect.
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- Connor (10/5): Exceptional - Reiko was an absolute delight. She was so welcoming and her english is excellent! Definitely a highlight of the trip.
The ryokan is in a very nice corner of the town, you can walk along the main street to get to all of the onsens very easily.
- Fangyuan (10/5): Absolutely amazing - The owner spoke a bit of english and was extremely helpful. She gave recommendations on the onsens to go to, how to wear the yakutas, and much more. The ryokan is near a lot of onsens that close late. Boots and umbrellas are provided to help you navigate the small town. The rooms had adequate heating and was very comfortable. Highly recommend this ryokan!
- Eric (9/5): Transported back in time for amazing experience! Raiko is amazing hostess! - This stay was like being transported back in time in the all the best ways! This is a stay for those who want to embrace the whole old world Japan experience and Onsen town. Raiko was the most amazingly sweet and attentive host! She made our stay feel extra special from the moment we arrived till waving to send us off. Fantastic partnership for breakfast just across the way as well. The bathroom down the hall presented some challenges but mostly due to having a night where I was feeling a little jet lag so having to maneuver in middle night when cold was a bit tough but small inconvenience that was far overshadowed by everything else.
- Jldown2 (10/5): Exceptional - We loved our stay at Migumiya Roykan and would absolutely stay again. The roykan is not in the center of town, but just a few minutes walk away. It is near two onsens and within easy walks of the others. Our room was large and the futons provided some of the best sleep I had during the entire trip. I loved sitting by the large windows with a view of the cable car and river. The roykan provides some of the best value in Kinosaki Onsen, but realize it is an older, traditional roykan - the (immaculately clean) shared bathrooms are down the hall and there are no showers. Reiko is a fantastic hostess - the fourth generation in her family to run this hotel. We had wonderful conversations with her and she was always ready to help with whatever we needed - finding vegetarian-friendly restaurants (and making reservations), thinking through travel plans, and more. We visited in December and found the bathrooms to be so cold! I felt like I had to steel myself for the trip.
- Florencia (6/5): Pleasant - Location was good. Nice breakfast (outside the premises). The room was dated. Only small hand towels provided.
- Mitchell (8/5): A great spot to explore Kinosaki from - Reiko was an amazing host and was super helpful giving recommendations and offered great advice for exploring Kinosaki. The rooms were clean and tidy. The Ryokan was away from the main city part in a more chilled out which was cool For the price I would have expected a more comfortable mattress and a few more amenities in the facility. However it is an older style Ryokan and wasn't expecting anything too crazy anyway!
- Alessandro (10/5): Cute and cozy ryokan with fantastic management. - The place is really cute and exactly as advertised. The owner is an incredibly kind and helpful person who will help you navigate a town that has some ‘instructions for use’. You are located a 2 min walk all from the best two onsens and a great cocktail bar, as well as right under the cable car. The value for money was staggering for me and speaking to other travellers in town I felt really lucky.
Also you get a traditional Japanese dress to walk around town for the duration of your stay!
- Michelle (8/5): Old historical charm. Lovely place. Lovely owner. - The room is very large. We had one for 4 adults. The tatami mat and futon is very comfortable and the quilts are thick and warm. Close to the cable car ropeway. The staircase is wide and easy to bring up large luggage. Near to 3 of the 7 public onsens. Has the charm of and 80 year old building. The room has its own sink where u can wash your face and brush teeth.
The owner Reiko, is very nice and friendly. Her family owned this land for more than 4 , possibly 6 generations. She came back to run the business 2 years ago when her father passed away . She has very interesting stories of her family who managed to continue to live and work on this property during the wars.
Lovely western style Breakfast included at the cafe across from the hotel. For the common toilets, there was only one small sitting toilet on the first floor. The other one is squatting only. The taps were not warm but ok just for washing hands. It’s possibly one of the last few hotels from the station. We tried to catch a bus back to the station as we had large suitcases but the bus didn’t come.
No showers in the hotel ( I now realise it’s expected of an old guest house, so its not really an issue ) as everyone goes to the onsen for showers and soaking.
- Nicholas (10/5): Beautiful Kinosaki Ryokan experience - Wonderful host! Very authentic and comfortable room, great location next to my favorite Onsen in Kinosaki. All good
- Nicholas (10/5): One night wasn’t enough! - The woman at the front desk, who I assume is the owner, was so incredibly kind. She spoke to me in great English and was so helpful and accommodating. I absolutely recommend if you’re looking to stay and enjoy Kinosaki Onsen. The location is a little far from the station and convenience stores, so the view from the room wasn’t of the Main Street. However, it was close to multiple baths and a walk through the town certainly isn’t the worst thing.
- Uma (9/5): Fantastic host, great location, authentic experience - The standout feature is the host. She takes care to see that you are comfortable and goes all out to make the visit feel personalised. If asked for, she gives recommendations. The location is just off the Main Street which makes it a bit quieter. Everything is close by as Kinosaki Onsen is quite a small town. Breakfast was at a nice cafe opposite. The room was big, with a full length balcony as well. As there's an Onsen nearby I didn't have a problem with no bathroom in the ryokan. The toilets were absolutely modern and clean. I would recommend this place for an authentic ryokan experience.
