- Rob (8/5): Unique woodshed experience in beautiful setting. - A unique experience in a beautiful setting.
Very friendly host and trip in side by side to view farm was an unexpected treat.

- Sheila (1/5): We didnt stay there & found a lovely motel in St Arnauds which was far better value for money. - A weka walking around. It was very basic & shabby compared to motels we usually stay in & felt we had been misled by the description of it being an apartment. It had steps up so not that suitable for people our age (70’s) lugging suitcases upstairs. There was a mouse in the trap in the wool shed right by the “apartment”door which the owner said “was a good thing but put me right off! It felt cold & the heater made a terrible rattling noise & smelt of burning dust. The furniture looked old.

- Marc (8/5): Quiet and remote by the river. Quirky but comfortable. It was a woodshed after all - Remote and rustic The bed could have been better

- Janet (10/5): Perfect rural break! - It was just as described.. rustic and perfect in every way. Beautifully done with a comfortable bed and everything you needed to cook a simple meal. Microwave and mini oven with 2 elements. Lovely picture window looking out at the view. Great location near the Owen River. Only comment i would make is about the local tavern...Owen River Tavern. We had thought we might eat there but decided it didn't look too good, Wouldn't recommend.....So we got food in Murchison and made a nice meal at 'home'.

- Gregory (10/5): - The Woolshed is an absolute gem of a place and its owners are a delight. If 5-star is your thing don't come here. It's one step up from an operational shearing shed with a self-contained 'apartment' grafted into the shed. It's very NZ and your grandma would probably feel right at home in it.
- Nicole (9/5): Perfect stopover on route, great for parking with trailer. Exactly what we were after - Everything we needed, nothing we didnt, communicating with host was so simple and accommodating.
- Libby (10/5): - A very comfortable and well equipped place to stay. The hosts were very friendly and keen to make our stay really enjoyable.

- Mark (8/5): Rustic and comfortable great place to unwind. - Awesome value unique and comfortable.
- John Guy (4/5): You have been warned - Described as “rustic”! This was not a pleasant experience and clearly our definition of rustic differed with the owners The wooden steps leading to the main entrance were dangerous for the aged - bit slippy
The main woolshed area (cooking area/microwave) was not conducive to holiday mode it would have been a good idea to signal the first bed presented to us was not in fact the bed meant for guests There were heaps of bugs etc and a decent blast of fly spray throughout the cooking area, was resulting in beetles scuttling across the dirty carpet The main room was barely acceptable - pokey area for handbasin but too narrow to stand square on! Look at the disgusting plug!

- Alison (10/5): - Beautiful location and just what we wanted for a 64th wedding anniversary getaway :) Helen and Rod were excellent hosts and the cabin was tidy and clean. We were also lucky to have perfect weather! My husband (aged 92) is a retired trout fishing guide from Rotorua so he was in paradise with the Owen River right on our doorstep.
- Massias (6/5): -
- Mouland (8/5): - Plenty of room for what we needed
- Jakub (9/5): We loved our stay and we hope to come back one day. Thank you -
- atlanta (10/5): Perfect 😍 - Everything! Was a comfortable unique stay with beautiful views lovely hosts and just perfect!

- Emma (7/5): Leuke overnachting.
- Farida (10/5): A unique experience and the opportunity to stay in a real woolshed with a built-in ensuite room - Amazing place. Very clean, cozy, and spacious room with everything you need (kitchen utensils, stove, small oven, fresh towels, board games ets), very comfortable bed, good pressure of hot water. Very quiet and peaceful. As expected, there was no Wi-Fi and a weak phone data. But this can be a plus, as it allows for a digital detox :)
- Lucas (10/5): Genial! - Por afuera parece un peli de terror pero no se preocupen! Por dentro es muy cómodo y con una vista increíble. Vale la pena quedarse más de un día si te gusta la tranquilidad.
- Jacinta (8/5): We had great stay with the sound of the animals and birds in the morning it was very peaceful -
- Benjamin Neville (10/5): - Lovely clean and simple accomodation in a beautiful secluded valley. A really unique little spot.
- Jack (8/5): I enjoyed the Woolshed. - It was what it was described as. Really comfortable, quiet and peaceful listening to the river. Had everything I wanted. Hosts where helpful and friendly. N/a
- Peter (9/5): Great escape - Great location. Cosy apartment in a clsaaic woolshed.Fantastic hosts, Helen and Rod.
Rod's surprise farm tour was a highlight. Everything was great.
- Erridge (9/5): Living History - Such a great idea to convert part of the woodshed to give people the opportunity to experience the history. Completely authentic & loved it thanks.
- Michael (8/5): Very good value for money. - We really liked staying in a woolshed on a working farm and having the place to ourselves. Very comfortable apartment with wonderful views. A real treat was a guided tour of the farm on Rod's Polaris Ranger..
- Keri (9/5): Fun, quirky place to stay. - A fun place to stay, loved the woolshed environment. We thought the access to the river was easier.
- Jocelyn (9/5): Memorably rustic and rural with home comforts - Exactly as presented on the booking site, this is a comfortable well equipped unit within a woolshed, in a lovely rural location. It's located between Murchison and St Arnauds, so planning to self -cater, we were grateful for the full kitchen.
- Ross (10/5): Soaked up the sun and the view in the shearing shed door, warm and peaceful. Lovely get away! - The hosts have done a great job in adapting a shearing shed to a rustic place to stay. Lovely setting, beautiful river.
- Heather (8/5): Very good - Property was clean and warm. Very rustic being in the woolshed. Great value for money and fun with the card and board games provided.
- Kelleher (6/5): So peaceful real wildlife night activity and we should have booked longer - The trickery was great. What you see first up is a worry until you open that secret door WOW A coffee plunger and plunger sachets “cafe de sol plunger coffee” would top it off. Then the rocking chair could be used to perfection on the viewing deck
- Sheryll (10/5): Lovely Hosts and a Unique experience! - So extraordinarily different, so interesting full of character and so unique. This is a one off and we highly recommend you try!
Beautiful dark skies for stars too. A simple screen to give privacy to any vehicle on the hardstanding as well screening its view from the cottage would be a very beneficial addition.
I’m sure this is something Rod will look to do.
- Andrew (5/5): Beautiful location -
- Flinders (10/5): A real bucolic experience, allowing for comforts. - Peaceful rural
Swimming in the creek.
Good host
Characterful shearing shed
Washing machine 😀😀😀😀
- Tracey (10/5): Brilliant paddle in the river, and an exceptional tour of the farm. - Quirky, unique experience in an old sheep shearing shed. Amazing location with stunning scenery and the host could not have been kinder. Nothing, we expected rustic and that’s what we got!
- Deven (7/5): A cheap stay in a decent location, comfortable but doesn't have wifi (good place to switch off) - Good central location if coming along the Murchison highway. Was a good price, spacious, clean, had hot water and the bed was comfortable. Good for a one or two night stay if exploring the surrounding area. On the door step of Mount Owen, so a good place to stay for any hikes in the area. Its setting is a bit unnerving, as it looks a little creepy from the outside. It's a room inside a working woolshed (not working when we stayed), so gave us a bit of a shock when we first entered the woolshed. The room is beyond the main door so have to walk through the shed to get to the room. No wifi and very little signal (only really get it when the phone is left on the window sill).
- Marshall (10/5): A wonderful, authentic woolshed stay that provides a comfortable firsthand glimpse into NZ history. - This property fit our needs PERECTLY. It is quite rustic but is a completely authentic woolshed that was historically used for shearing sheep. The apartment is a walled off corner in the larger shearing shed. We were able to make great use of the extra covered space in the shed for repacking our tramping gear while enjoying the comfort of the well-appointed apartment. Some travelers who are expecting Five Star accommodation are likely to be put off by farm odors and somewhat dated fixtures. We felt blessed to experience the inherent authenticity of the property. We could not have been more pleased with our experience. No fault of the property or the owners but be aware that you will want to be prepared for fairly healthy concentrations of sandflies.
- Adrienne (9/5): The perfect peaceful retreat with the rural experience. - The Woolshed was a perfect place to unwind after a long trip with lovely peace and quiet. It brought back many fond memories of my childhood.
- Sarah (8/5): Rustic - Views and ability to walk to river. Would be perfect for an planned stay to get off grid. Wasn't aware that there was limited cell pH coverage and no tv - however appreciated books provided.
- Faye (8/5): Very good -
- Charlotte (10/5): Fantastic - Amazing place, beautiful views, loads of space had everything we needed. Hosts very responsive to messages
- John (8/5): Very definitely rural and rustic, with a good degree of comfort. - The contrast between the as-advertised Rustic Woolshed and the luxury lodge across the road with its guests arriving and departing by helicopter was indeed interesting Nothing notable
- Gemma (10/5): Wow! Gorgeous! Loved the location & the accomodation. - An absolutely stunning location. The wool shed was clean, comfortable & had everything we needed. So much character. A wonderful experience. We loved everything about the property
