Guest Reviews
- Peter (7/5): -
- John (9/5): Delightful accommodation, comfortable, great location, short walk into town and station, good restaurants walkable dista - Everything! Location, decor, facilities, comfortable, loved it! Nothing.
- Chris (1/5): Appalling - Still waiting for Booking.com to contact me regarding this stay to follow up our complaints about this accommodation. It was dangerous, unsafe, unclean and needs to be removed from.the listing The lack of communication, no heating, filthy kitchen, broken appliances and unfit for accommodation
- Nicolas (7/5): Ideal for a weekend break at the heart of town - Good location and good response from the host in case of problems. Good set up for a weekend but if you stay for longer a bigger fridge would make a difference.
- Andrea (9/5): Perfect place for a few nights stay in Shrewsbury - A lovely clean apartment on 3 floors with everything you need. Kitchen well equipped. Included a thoughtful gift pack. Excellent communication with the host when we struggled with the heating system Very close to town centre. We had a lovely stay here heating was a little difficult to understand even with instructions.
- Daniel (9/5): Little gem - Lovey old property...full of character and perfect location for exploring the town Nothing to dislike...simple and charming
- Nicolas (8/5): -
- Nicolas (8/5): Great location allowing you to enjoy the town and also enjoy some relaxing time in the flat. - Great location and welcoming host. Decoration is really nice and great to have 2 floors if you want a bit of time to yourself. The fridge arrangement is a bit confusing.
- Glynis (10/5): Wonderful stay would recommend - Close location to town, lovely old building, lots of historic character. Would definitely recommend.
Tea, coffee and toiletries provided. The complimentary drinks and snacks was a nice touch.
- Alison (1/5): SHOCKING . DIRTY . NO BATHING FACILITIES - NOTHING! No bathing facilities !! Not acceptable. the bath leak’s terribly and cannot be used the water floods the floor and leaks through the floorboards into the entrance hall . Spent our time cleaning and mopping rather than relaxing. Dirty cups (only 2 of them) half full bin . TV doesn’t work . Filthy bathroom sink with someone’s toothbrush on the side . Sour milk in the fridge. Bed dips in the middle (badly) thick dust on skirting boards. Came home feeling tired and dirty. I’ve never left a bad review before but little liberty’s is shocking
- Gregory (7/5): -
- Hannah (8/5): Lovely place to stay, great location. - Great location, lovely to stay in a house with such history. Not really a dislike, more information for future guests, the house is 3 storeys with narrow stairs, my partner uses a crutch to get around it was manageable but tricky for him.
- Cherry (7/5): - Lovely quirky apartment over 3 floors. Very spacious living room and bedroom. Great location. Wasn't keen on the opened/used milk left for us and some condiments that had been left opened, possibly from previous guests?
- Ashleigh (8/5): Beautiful place and gorgeous memories made for my partners birthday - Gorgeous cottage with lots of character. Nothing we didn’t like, floor in the living was uneven made feel a little dizzy after a few drinks but can’t be helped with how old the building is.
Would have been better making the bathroom into a shower room rather than the bath but not bad as the bath was lovely.
- Mr Andrew (8/5): We really enjoyed it as found plenty of pubs and restaurants yo get warm in. Lovely house, certainly great value Leave a - Great location close to City centre plus great local shops on your doorstep.
Comfy furniture and great bath and hot water.
Great microwave and grill!
Lovely welcome pack and well equipped kitchen
Thankfully great WiFi as no tv. See below… Oven didn’t work (element?) neither did the hob.
Tv didn’t work after the first night?
Bath overflow leaks, so be careful.
Bed needs a new mattress and bedroom heater set to 12 degrees, maybe intentional to make you cuddle up?!
- Cei (7/5): -
- steadybreeze (7/5): Interesting propery but needs a freshen up, a bit of TLC. - Great location. Quirky building full of charactor. Large kitchen with good oven & hob. Good value for the price paid No welcome pack that others have mentioned. No idea what to do with rubbish or how to change the heating, seemed to be locked at 13 degrees in the bedroom and 15 in the lounge. Kitchen never got above 12. Ended up dragging an oil filled heater around with me. Freezing cold but it was January i suppose.
Fridge didnt work, switched on so smelled bad, there was another smaller fridge that worked! out of date sauces and flour on the shelves

- Emma (8/5): - The property was absolutely stunning with quirky interior. We had a really comfortable stay and would highly recommend to anyone I don't think housekeeping were expecting us. The property was clean but no key had been left for us to access the property. We had to call a few times to get this sorted. The gent while came with the met was lovely and very apologetic. Secondly, was expecting a welcome box as advised on email but we don't receive this
- Dave (8/5): Winter short stay - Lovely old building and great location. Nice spacious rooms, and good blend of historic and modern. Wasn't clear how to use hob (we could not get working) so some instructions would have been helpful. Also some guide for the TV - was fine Thurs but not Fri (although that might be down to the weather).
- Heather (4/5): - Quirky rooms near town centre. Noisy due to road, bed v soft and uncomfortable, bedding in open bags under bed, bedding the floor under the bed, rooms were dusty, bathroom not cleaned properly, only 2 towells in the bathroom - 4 would be normal. Wifi very erratic.
- Beth (10/5): -
- Adam (8/5): Would stay again, lovely place, really happy we stayed here. - Beautiful house in a perfect location right by the bridges into the centre of town. Period features with comfy modem furniture and fittings that go well with such an historic building. Only that there were some scuff marks on some of the walls and that the traffic was noisy on Monday morning, could hear commuters going past and the windows are of an older period so they don't stop the noise getting through. Just needed ear plugs.
- Hat2 (10/5): overall a excellent place to stay. - everything was perfect the heating could have been a little warmer
- tilly (5/5): Disappointing - Great location It was very cold only had night storage heaters that didn’t throw out much heat. During our stay the weather was very wet but nowhere to dry our cloths
Had to drag the quilt off the bed & drag it downstairs to lounge to watch TV just to keep warm
- Mark (9/5): Cozy and Characterful - Very cozy, characterful flat in a great location for parking and getting into the city centre. Will definitely be booking the next time we're in Shrewsbury. The shower/bath situation. Lovely as it looks, it's not very practical as a shower. It can't be used standing up without splashing everywhere, and the shower head itself get scalding hot.
- Paul (10/5): - Quirky accommodation opposite a good pub. Couldn't work out how to use the radiators.
- Dranidis (9/5): - Almost everything Street sometimes noisy
- Kathryn (10/5): - Great location. Much bigger rooms than expected. Bath is amazing
- Jo (8/5): -
- Ian (6/5): -
- Steven (10/5): - Fantastic stay in a building with so much character! Really added something unique to our trip
- Nic (8/5): A characterful property. - The property had plenty of character, providing modern facilities whilst retaining the historical features. It was within easy walking distance from the town centre. The clay tiled kitchen floor was cold in the morning without any floor mats. (I didn't bring slippers). Traffic outside the bedroom was a bit noisy during the morning rush hour .
- Stephen (9/5): Great location for exploring Shrewsbury, it was my first time visiting the town so great location - Lovely building just a short walk across the river to town Parking restrictions near property but I found a side road with no restrictions so it was ok
- Catheryn (10/5): A beautiful house right in the centre of a fascinating town - The property is beautiful and is very clean and comfortable. We really appreciated the milk and snacks that had been left for us. Plenty of towels and extra pillows and blankets were available and we felt very relaxed in the house. We had everything we needed. The property is located very close to the town centre and it was very easy to get into town on foot.
- David (7/5): - Location was very good and the lounge was v comfortable and welcoming. Lovely welcome tray. On arrival were hit by the smell of bleach/cleaning products used on the kitchen floor (still damp) which was overpowering and the smell continued for the whole break as the kitchen had no opening windows. Kitchen was used for making hot drinks only. The bed was not the most comfortable but fresh and clean. A lot of external.noise.
- kevin (9/5): - Quirky little cottage over three floors , has everything you need .Great location ,just over the bridge from the main town ,only a few minutes walk from Frankwell main car park Bathroom could be a bit of a mission if your not very agile
- Rebecca (10/5): Wonderful stay in a beautiful period property. - Fantastic location. Beautiful period property.
- Jan (7/5): - Great location and tastefully appointed apartment I am writing this as a fairly fit over 70 year old. I can easily manage stairs but found the bath very difficult to access due to the height of the rim and absence of any hand rail. I suggest that this is noted in the information as it is a safety issue.
- Peter (8/5): Wonderful Olde Worlde Apartment - The location is very handy for town. The property is charming and beautifully decorated. Some nice touches with the welcome pack. Loading and unloading from a car is awkward. If you have a lot of stuff or heavy cases it will be a problem. Nearest car park is a 5 minute walk away.
Check in was difficult. Booking.com gave the wrong pin for the key safe and the contacts telephone number was invalid. Booking.com were not available to help when I contacted them leaving me and wife without anywhere to stay. This may be a booking.com issue but the owner needs to rectify this. Fortunately I received the welcome email from the owner and was able to get the correct PIN.
The internal stairs are steep, not a problem for us but unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues.
Can be noisy with it overlooking a busy road and opposite a busy pub.
Only two cups in the kitchen.
- c (10/5): Perfect, will be back - Everything, facilities were clean and accessible, the area was perfect, everything was comfortable and it was great value for money Nothing
- Brian (9/5): A home to take you back in time but with modern conveniences to make your stay happy and comfortable - The place is amazing, clean, tidy and comfortable. We loved the welcome gifts and the uniqueness of the whole place. The location is ideal, not too far from the train station and within comfortable walking distance to all the beautiful places we wanted to visit. Although we loved the bath, as older travellers we found it a challenge to get in and out. But that should not put you off staying here as the bathroom was very well suited to the property.
- Andrew (7/5): Beautiful central character house, really needs to sort out their key handover system - Lovely ancient building in a central location, with a nice pub opposite. Really silly system for collecting the key: they give you a false code a few days before, then send the "real" code at some point the day you check in. Spent an hour wrestling with the lockbox with our baby. wondering if we needed to book a different hotel and couldn't get in touch with the host. Such a shame, really spoilt the arrival.
- Sue (8/5): An enjoyable stay in a character home within a fabulous location. - There was a lot of character in the building and the use of the kitchen was a bonus meaning we didn't need to eat all meals out. It was comfortable and convenient. Many thanks x
- Claire (10/5): The ultimate, relaxing retreat. - Beautifully decorated apartment. Full of charm. Welcome tray was a lovely treat. The mattress on the bed was much too soft, which made it difficult to settle to sleep.
Although the bath looked very attractive, I didn't dare use it, as the splayed, curved edge would have made it very difficult to get out of safely.
The VERY load live music from the bar in the tent opposite. Fortunately the music stopped at 23:00
- Malcolm (8/5): Very good -
- Samantha (7/5): Good -
- Denise (8/5): Nice accommodation - Nice place. Close to town. We were over 2 hours late getting into the property as we didn't receive the code to the lockbox and couldn't get in. There was no signal in the area so had a hard time contacting the host. He did offer a late checkout but we couldn't stay later as we already had plans. Also the fridge didn't work.
- Sarah (9/5): Needed to get away to relax and it fit the bill. - Good location on edge of town within easy walking distance of local amenities and sights. Said it was easy to pull up outside and unload but on a busy road with double yellow lines both sides so it wasn't. Said there was a DVD player but couldn't find one. Struggled to find the WiFi code as it wasn't left out in an obvious place.
- Helen (9/5): Great shorty stay loved the property - Great location and lovely cozy apartment The bed was really uncomfortable
- Gordon (9/5): Superb -
- Sian (6/5): Charming but lacking in care. - The properties location was great for getting around Shrewsbury. Located just the other side of the Welsh Bridge from the town.
The property itself was beautiful and appealing due to its history. No expected ghosts were sensed. Though I am still not sure if this was a plus or a negative. The property felt lazily prepared. Though clean to a standard it appeared on going deep cleaning was not a priority.
The kitchen had everything you needed. However there were two fridges. One stunk and the other had a black mould like substance coming out of the freezer drawer.
The stair carpets were very dirty. I understand you have a high use of the carpets in a rental property but they were bordering on disgusting. The lounge and bedroom were roomy with beautiful leaded medieval windows. The decor was a bit blah. With everything painted in greys.
The bed mattress was appallingly uncomfortable. It was so soft that it felt like an under filled water bed. If I or my partner moved the other would feel the ripples across the mattress and be awoken.
The cushions and pillows showed in depth staining from over use and repeated washing. They desperately need replacing.
The bathroom and toilet were both functional. The bathroom had been badly painted grey. The claimed supplied toiletries consisted of hand wash and a third full bottle of cheap bath foam. I think it was fair to expect a small shower gel or shampoo. If you aren’t providing it, don’t say you are. The bin had not been cleaned or lined with a bag.
This property has so much charm and appeal. I felt it was being used rather than appreciated. Some small changes and maintenance would improve it no end and probably lead to it commanding a higher price from visitors.
It is a very noisy location. It is clearly a main route into the town and opposite a beer garden.
- Wayne (8/5): Very good - Location, price, privacy, lovely old building decorated in a modern style to match. No bath towels provided
- Bethan (8/5): More pros than cons - Quirky apartment close to the centre of Shrewsbury Old fashioned bed not the most comfortable.. Found the roll top bath difficult to exit due to being OAP's. Wish the wi-fi password was written on the wall as it was difficult to access it on router.
- Martyn (3/5): Poor - Local to amenities The bed was like sleeping g on a trampoline an tv not working took ages to figure it out
- Paula (7/5): Good -
- Sharon (8/5): Very good - Location was perfect Bed could do with replacing
- Susan (8/5): A quirky little property with untapped potential. Suited our needs on this occasion. -
- Claire (10/5): Unique and cosy stay near the vibrant and bustling town of Shrewsbury - Such a beautiful and historic little house. Finished to a great taste inside, making it super cosy and comfortable. Location was great - parking just around the corner - £6.50 per day. And a short walk into town over the bridge. Absolutely brilliant :)
- Linda (7/5): Needs a little TLC. - It was very well situated for the central facilities of the old town. If you are visiting the theatre, it's particularly handy, being a very short stroll away. There are also two restaurants close by, both of which are somewhat less expensive than the ones in the town centre. And we were kindly left welcome snacks and drinks. The bed needs replacing. It dipped so much in the middle that in order to sleep, we had to lay it on the floor and sleep like that. Even so, the stress springs made it rather lumpy.
There was a problem with the fridge, but as I notified the owner, hopefully that will be rectified.
Curtains in living room are pretty, but coming off curtain rings in places - hopefully the fastenings will be mended.
The pub opposite was not noisy while we were there, but there is a fair amount of traffic noise during the day - as is the case in much of Shrewsbury town centre. Just something to bear aware of if you are easily disturbed by that.
- Llin (9/5): Superb -
- Alan (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyable - Breakfast was very good.
- Drew (10/5): Exceptional - Such a beautiful and cosy place to stay. I was so lucky to find this place, I loved every second of being here
- Shaun (8/5): Very good -
- Adam (10/5): Fantastic quirky one bedroom house - Fantastic property, much bigger than it appeared from the photos and description. Good to have the front door in a quiet courtyard round the back so it felt more secure. Nice and clean when I arrived and the snacks were a thoughtful extra touch. A short walk to the town centre and railway station. The host was friendly and responded quickly to my questions. Be aware this is a one-bedroom house over three storeys with some steep stairs and uneven floors, which are part of its historic nature and quirky charm. It may not be suitable if you have mobility issues. The bed has a big metal frame with coil springs which matches the rest of the decor. It could do with a firmer mattress to provide more support for sleeping.
- Bethan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (9/5): 114 Frankwell - Location , old charm of area, large rooms. No reference to Little Libertys around the location, further in the email actually found 114 Frankwell road
- Banner (8/5): Lovely stay in a Tudor house, really close to Shrewsbury centre. - Fantastic location. V responsive host. Lovely extra snacks/milk/water wine.
The building is tudor, so full of character 😀 The key code had changed the day we arrived, so we spent a while trying to get in before contacting the host, feeling a little silly. Correct code and, bingo, we were in.
The bed is a sprung mattress on a spring base. Very bouncy and tend to end up in the middle.
- Haylo2704 (6/5): Pleasant - 10 minute walk into the town centre. Parking nearby.
- Lily (10/5): Lovely short getaway - The friendly touch of snacks, lovely location. Bed was springy (not what we’re used to) but was still comfortable.
- Aoife (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (8/5): Staying in history - Location great. Beautifully presented home. Classy. Staying in history. Really well done. Fizz in the fridge and goodies too. Lovely touch. Very welcoming host. The bathroom looked amazing. But was challenging. Great rolltop bath, but for a tall big guy like me a shower attachment didnt quite work. Missed having the ability to shower.
- Colin (6/5): Good value for , money located close to local ammenities, some improvements to mattress and heating would have improved - Property was nice and close to local facilities It was very cold inside on arrival 9 degrees on heaters. Heaters were not simple to understand and took time to get to a comfortable temperature.
The mattress on Bed was very soft which made sleeping uncomfortable.
On the Saturday the pub over Road had a rock band on that went on until very early hours and was very very loud.
- Emyr (8/5): A charming period property in Shrewsbury - Fantastic period property within easy walking distance from the centre of Shrewsbury. The decor is charming. The host, while sometimes slow to respond is kind and helpful. The bed is very soft, which is fine if you like that - it's a personal preference after all, but I would have liked a firmer bed. I did manage to sleep ok, but the springs make a racket when you move, and woke my wife a few times - she is a light sleeper though. The kitchen could do with a few more drinking glasses. If you're looking for an early night, beware of the pub over the road - it usually has bands playing in the marquee, and can be quite loud on a Saturday night until closing time.
- James (8/5): Very good - Excellent building, loads of room, just amazing, really Can't think of much I didn't like.
- Thatbabejasmine (9/5): Thanks for our Christmas stay: - Provided us with welcome gifts such as crisps (pigs in blankets flavour to represent our stay for christmas eve to boxing day, with also two bottles of alcohol spritz which is very much appreciated.
We loved our stay. Bed little uncomfortable, not firm, very bouncy for our liking, and water temperature on taps is far too hot, needs turning down.
- Uonsirimongkhol (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzanne (10/5): Lovely stay at little liberty's - Lovely, comfortable place to stay, car park only a short walk away. Not too far to walk into the town. Nice touch providing snacks and little bottles of fizz. Would definitely stay again.
- Cristian (9/5): Friendly and helpful host. Fun house! - I liked the house and layout with kitchen, living room and bedroom stacked. Beautiful and quirky, as to expect from a Tudor house. Bathtub showering isn’t my favorite but it works. It was winter and the bathroom got cold.
- Stephanie (7/5): Great location, beautiful building, but the bed was uncomfortable - Great location, very spacious and well equipped Toilet seat didn’t fit and the bed was very uncomfortable!
- Breuer (10/5): Exceptional - Gorgeous historical house/apartment, great location, good directions and easy parking nearby. Cosy and welcoming, great decor, comfy bed and luxurious bath. (Take some bubble bath with you to get the most out of it) Loved it all, no complaints.,
- Marcus (8/5): Old world charm - lovely old place, set over 3 floors, bed was a bit bouncy but didn't detract from my sleeping, heating can be a little problematic and having no shower is not only an inconvenience but a bit wasteful, and the cooking facilities could do with a rethink and some newer utensils.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - We liked the accommodation as we had the whole apartment which was comfortable and decorated to a high standard, the apartment is literally next to the river in the town centre with plenty of bars shops and restaurants to chose from, would definitely stay there again. There was no negatives with this property
- Phil (5/5): We didn’t receive messages from the owners to advise how to get into the apartment and there were no instructions how to - Beautiful old 3story apartment with full kitchen, lounge and bedroom The property was freezing on arrival and the bed was the worst we’ve ever slept in
- Ramshaw (5/5): Was ok ish - Heating, no shower, bed. Needs decorating
- Beverley (9/5): Shrewsbury and the accommodation were a triumph. We highly recommend both! - A gem of a place to stay. Thoughtfully and tastefully presented; the photos do not do it justice. Great location with easy stroll into the town centre or along the river. For us the bed was definitely on the too soft side, but I fully accept that is personal preference and it did not detract.
- Jasmine (8/5): Can’t wait to stay here again: Thank you!x - We liked that it was convenient to town centre, just a short stroll over bridge to Quarry, and close to take aways if needed, if you love the pub and live bands you can sit in bedroom at top of apartment or living room and listen to bands play (until 11pm) or directly walk over the road and join the buzz of the evenings for yourself, not guaranteed every evening! Thursday was busy, Friday was dead, Saturday was lively again as it was halloween weekend.
Loved how it was so unique and building was original, and full of character! We enjoyed the arrival gifts, that was super nice..I enjoyed the spritz wine.
Also for the price for a full apartment with no hassle, it was a good price to pay when visiting back home to see parents & friends.
We loved the front room, the floors are uneven, so just beware if you have mobility issues. Bathroom had no proper shower, you had to bend over the bath to wash hair with shower hose OR take a bath…we have an L shaped bath ourselves at home and proper shower door and we felt this could easily fit in that space to improve these regards as its a huge struggle really.
Struggled with oven also - had to have fan and oven on to cook a pizza my partner said? Otherwise it never worked..Hope this is fixed for our Christmas stay!😂
No parking, but we did find parking on round about after 6pm which is free until next morning, before 6pm you do get 40 minutes free that we used for dropping luggage off, there is also free parking about 10 mins walk away past that round about, this road is opposite houses without road lines, had no issues - plenty of parking for those that live there and people like us 😂its a big road - its just past the bricklayers arms pub (maybe the granville st or Lindale ct or Bromley ct) hope that helps anyone after free parking.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good - Quirkiness. Location, hospitality package left. Needs a little attention in places, but overall a charming place, full of character
- Paul (9/5): Lovely apartment close to the town centre - Apartment close to the town centre.
Parking close by.
Apartment clean and everything was provided.
Lovely welcome pack on arrival - thank you.
- Josephine (9/5): Superb -
- Camilla (10/5): Gorgeous property, lovely location. - This is honestly one of the best stays I've had. i was really impressed with the cleanliness as well as the little touches. The property is gorgeous, it is clean, full of character and just lovely. Nothing
- Maureen (8/5): Very good -
- Tamhas (8/5): Very good - Very clean, smelled good. Thin windows. Double glazing needed to keep out noise. Police sirens very loud going down busy street
- Gary (9/5): Beautiful quaint characterful accommodation with excellent facilities and space - Lovely layout, simple clean facilities and separate kitchen. Central position within easy walking distance of town. Car parking nearby was reasonable and free on Sundays. The bed mattress, whilst comfortable was a bit soft for my taste.
- Emma (9/5): Beautifully maintained character property, a close walk into the heart of Shrewsbury. - Beautifully maintained character property, a close walk into the heart of Shrewsbury. loved the uniqueness of the property, went to the live music in the bar directly over the road, enjoyed sightseeing and shopping around Shrewsbury with plenty of coffee stops and restaurants. lots of information provided by the property of places to go and the history of Shrewsbury. Great little welcome basket provided for relaxing in the evening. It didn’t feel very secure, due to alley entrance and no double locking system so we could feel safe at night.
- Nicholls (9/5): Home from home - Comfortable home from home style property. Fantastic historical features. Great little touches such as a welcome pack from the host. Easy check in and good communication from the host throughout the stay. Unable to use the shower as the shower head leaked and I didn't want to cause any water damage. Not a huge issue as the bath was great. Also had an issue with the oven I could only get the grill to work I'm not sure if the oven element has gone as it wouldn't heat up.
- Jane (8/5): Spacious, stylish accommodation in beautiful Shrewsbury. - The space, the decor, the central location and the lovely extras of wine and biscuits--thankyou! With any central location comes the buzz of 'city life'--even in a medieval market town! I know the area well, and expected noise from the pub opposite--you can't fit double glazing in a beautiful old building like this! So while I was prepared for it, it's probably worth flagging up for visitors who are new to the area,
- Karen (10/5): Fabulous property, can’t wait to return - Fabulous character property, tastefully furnished. Great location, easy walk to town. Nothing at all
- Laura (8/5): Comfortable, convenient, characterful. - The location is not right in the centre- but excellent as it is within walking distance of most of the town.
Lovely property, nicely decorated, good facilities, cosy, convenient. A few complimentary supplies made me feel very welcome. another saucepan would be useful, One of the windows in the lounge is rotten, and needs fixing before the weather turns.
I much prefer a shower to a bath. The front door lock is a little tricky.
- Sean (9/5): loved the property & stay ,,,, ,,,, will definitely stay at little liberties again -
