Guest Reviews
- Francesca (10/5): Felt like a home from home - Spacious, clean and lovely thoughtful details! Nothing.
- Melissa (10/5): - One of the best places we have stayed. Nothing not to like. Big area for parking, beautiful home, nice garden, No big rules for dogs like alot of other places. Just a relaxing place to spend the last days of our holiday. Would definitely recommend. Nothing not to like.
- joanne (7/5): Great position for us to get to see all our family in Yorkshire, but the property needs some improvement. - The property was lovely and warm, cooking facilities good. Good size fridge/freezer, and good size kitchen for family coming to visit. Wasn’t a private garden, shared with owners which having two dogs and one being nervous wasn’t good for us, this should be put in the advert. Bathroom needs an up grade.

- Susan (10/5): Perfect property for a weekend stay for a family wanting to chill or explore - Great location for walks on the doorstep. Pubs and restaurants by car.
The property was easy access by key code. Great car parking area. For me the kitchen was the best feature. Well equipped with plenty of extras. It was nice to be able to take the dogs at no extra charge.
- Ellen (10/5): Perfect - Beautiful house to stay in and very friendly host and community definitely would recommend and definitely will be staying here again
- Tan (9/5): Clayton West family visit - Great home for our family visit. Everything was provided and to a high standard. Lovely teas and coffee and biscuits. It was easy to get in, super clean and very warm during a snowy, icy visit.
Would not hesitate to book this home again. Thanks Naomi!
- Amanda (8/5): - Spacious house for family get together.
Very functional and perfect for what we were looking for. Loved wooden floors, big kitchen, huge TV for cold nights and great mattress in master bedroom. Lovely garden under snow. Would be awesome with log burner as owners are planning. Bathroom smallish for size of house and a bit tired but not an issue for us.
- Chris (10/5): Absolute gem - We had a fantastic stay at Holmfield House. The house is very homely with bags of character. The hosts have done a great job of ensuring you have everything you need and more.
The surrounding area has some stunning scenery and wonderful attractions.
We'll definitely be back I would avoid the fish and chip shop just down the road. We went on our first night as it was so close to the house. Unfortunately, it was probably the worst fish and chips I've ever had.
- David (8/5): Great location. Fabulous kitchen. Spacious for a family break. - Clean and spacious in lovely rural location but with easy access to Leeds and Wakefield. Good instructions regarding directions and access and lots of info once inside too . Good facilities in village and lots of farm shops close by for a cuppa or shopping. We were visiting family so it was perfect for us - especially as it was dog friendly. Great value for money. We are not tea drinkers - but did note the amazing selection of teas in the drawer as well as plenty of household items provided for washing, dishwasher etc - a really lovely and generous touch. We loved the biscuits too - thank you ! Sitting room could be quite dark and needs more lighting if you are not a fan of bright ceiling lights and would rather refer side lamps. Parking was a bit tricky with a big car.

- Isobel (8/5): Great place to stay if visiting the area. We would stay again - Very spacious, comfortable home. Host had provided good supply of tea, coffee, biscuits and jam. Parking off the main road was helpful in getting a baby in and out of the car. We were there for work but there are plenty of places to visit within reasonable distance. Lighting over stairs could be brighter
- Ingrid (9/5): -
- Williams (10/5): Excellent, no qualms in highly recomending. - Location, Ideal for Cannon Hall and Whistlestop and other attractions.
Size of property, good size bedrooms, generous kitchen. Garden and BBQ. Property spotlessly clean but only criticism would be tile grouting in shower could do with being redone.
- Samantha (10/5): - The house was very spacious, lots of seats in the lounge. The kids loved the PlayStation and the garden. The kitchen had all the appliances and was well supplied. Very Clean. We will definitely be returning. Nothing
- Warren (8/5): -
- Suzanne (9/5): It was perfect for our needs. - The house is tastefully renovated with a heap of history. I grew up in the area, so absolutely loved it.
I can't now remember your dining recommendations, but The Three Acres is exquisite and The Dunkirk highly recommended. Much changed from my era 😂. A few cobwebs on the living room ceiling. A very minor point.
- Philippa (10/5): We had a great stay and would definitely stay again if in the area again. - Big and cosy for a family. Nice garden and welcoming towards our dog. Lovely walks nearby. Nothing
- Caroline (10/5): Large, spacious dog friendly property. - This was a clean, spacious property and excellent value for money. There was clear communication about how to access the house and some nice biscuits were waiting for us when we arrived.
It is perfect if you have a dog and unusually they don’t charge extra for bringing your dog with you. There are some lovely walks nearby.
I liked that the owners had some photos and history of the house on the wall.
- Dan (9/5): Superb - The house is lovely, fully working kitchen, outdoor garden space with BBQ. Very quiet location which is exactly what we wanted.
- Natalie (8/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would you hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. - Really lovely spacious house, great location and hosts very responsive to any questions asked. Loved having a bean to cup coffee machine and a great selection of teas. Welcome goodies were also very much appreciated.
- Steve (10/5): Beautiful house - Just perfect Nothing
- Sheena (10/5): Exceptional - Very spacious and comfortable. The host had provided lots of added amenities that were very nice (Jams, coffees, toiletries)
- Stephen (10/5): Excellent accommodation and fantastic owners - The communication by the owners was excellent. We were at a wedding in the local area and although we weren`t able to check in early, the owners allowed us to drop our bags off which was a massive help nothing
- Neville (10/5): Very comfortable ideal for a family weekend get - together - Spacious, comfortable, well maintained and equipped. Ideal for a family get together Nothing
- Ananda (10/5): wonderful experience - the property was so very well maintained and the highlight was the Kitchen with abundant supplies and facilities
The next in the list of goodies was the back garden….Great stay and experience. host was very courteous and responsive.
we enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend to others too. keep it up!! NA
- Raj (8/5): Very good -
- Deborah (10/5): Highy recommend. Clean, comfy, warm, spacious. . - Lovely place. Very comfy beds, very clean throughout. A lovely blend of old and modern. Under floor heating was a lovely treat, it was so cosy and warm for such an old house. Loved reading the history wall! Great to have quality kitchen equipment and there were a few goodies on arrival which was a lovely treat. Great local walks in beautiful countryside. Sculpture park is well worth a trip. Nothing
- David (9/5): Brilliant house, lovely location! - The decor is stunning! The house is in really good condition, it has great facilities, and is very practical for children with the fixed stair gate. The location is ideal for village amenities, as well as the Whistlestop Valley railway (our main reason for the holiday). There are still some finishing touches needed that would make this property perfect, such as a blind/curtain for the back door, and I’d love to see the bathroom brought up to the same standard as the rest of the house. Also, just a minor point, all the pillows were incredibly soft, so if you’re a side-sleeper like me you may need to bring your own pillows.
- Lee (9/5): Superb -
- Josephine (9/5): Superb - Comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. A lovely property in a great location. The beds were comfortable but squeaky.
- Bethany (10/5): Perfect family holiday house! - The house is perfect for a family trip! It has everything you could need - well stocked kitchen, adventurous garden with a tightrope and fruit trees, bbq and herbs! The house is lovely and has things like a high chair, baby gate, travel cot and even baby spoons. There are loads of games and puzzles. We simply had the best time ever!! Great location close to lots of attractions. Naomi was super friendly. The price was fantastic for an August weekend - we couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you!! Nothing - it was just perfect
- Lisa (9/5): Lovely property - The property was great, was a little unsure about having the owners next door, but a beautiful house and garden , The neighbours were shouting at us due to where we parked
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katie (10/5): Lovely stay in this beautiful and well equipped property. Naomi was lovely and made arrival easy and checked that all wa - Beautiful, spacious and well equipped property.
