- Alice (10/5): - Lovely guesthouse in a quiet yet central area of the town, close to the UNESCO Site.
The staff is very friendly, the room is comfortable, nice and clean, and breakfast is delicious! Highly recommended! All was perfect
- Simone (10/5): - Una bellissima famiglia molto accogliente.
Colazione super.
- dong (10/5): 非常值得 - 非常好的主人,房间干净卫生,有蚊帐。早餐非常丰盛。 房间里需要有一个垃圾桶
- Imre (10/5): Exceptional - The owner was very kind and super helpful. I really loved the breakfast. It was enough for dinner too. The double bed was great and it had mosquito net on. The internet was slow and unstable.
- Siobhan (8/5): Great location - Lovely, hard working owner of this Homestay. It is located in what seems a very rural area with lots of wildlife. An easy walk from the bus stop and very close to the entrance of the historic site.
- Dawn (10/5): Great stay with Ravi and with lots of perks - The guesthouse is close to the main sites.
Ravi makes delicious breakfast with lots of fresh fruits. He even made us a takeaway breakfast when we had to leave early for elephant safari.
Ravi organized bikes for us to use to see the ruins.
He also set up an elephant safari with an excellent guide, Shiron. He was knowledgeable and showed us some incredible birds. He had a knack for getting us in the right spots for elephant viewing and was respectful to give the elephants space. Highly recommend a trip with him. We also recommend the morning trip as he said in the afternoons sometimes there are 200 jeeps! Everything was great.
- Hope (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benedict (5/5): Passable - Host and his mom were friendly breakfeast very fresh and you can rent scooter car bicyle hire a guide etc by the host very convenient. It's in walking distance to the ancient city. In the aircon room and especially the bathroom the mold was so bad we had to keep the window open at all times and i do not recommend staying in this room for long since it is very unhealthy
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Very warm welcome. The host is super cool, he made us feel comfortable in his establishment. Ravi took the time to inform us about our itinerary before we left the hotel. The breakfasts were very good and plentiful. We recommend this hotel!
- Margi (9/5): Highly recommended for on-the-budget travellers looking for authentic and relaxing Homestay - I had a wonderful stay at this Homestay! It’s a perfect choice for budget travelers looking for a clean, comfortable, and welcoming place. The family atmosphere created by the host and his lovely mother makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive.
One of the highlights was the delicious Sri Lankan breakfast—fresh, flavorful, and a great way to start the day. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly, which was a big plus. The host strikes the perfect balance between giving you space and being incredibly helpful whenever needed. The only small downside is that there’s no grocery store nearby to buy water, but that’s also the trade-off for staying in such a peaceful, green location.
- Jil (10/5): Exceptional - It is located really close to the ancient town and to a beautiful lake where you can watch the sunset. The host is incredibly friendly and helps you with everything. The breakfast with the fresh fruit was exceptional.
I would always come back.
- Sonam (10/5): Mr Ravi the owner is so kind, humble and very compassionate human being. - Breakfast is excellent with huge fresh fruits. Location is very good and very quite peaceful place. I like everything at the property.
- Melanie (10/5): A second Home in Polorannuwa - I can't recommend Villa Ravichini Homestay enough! The place is fantastic. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom nice with good water pressure, and the breakfast was delicious. But what truly sets this homestay apart is Ravi. He's the heart and soul of the place — so patient, kind, and helpful. Despite the heavy rain on my arrival, he suggested a safari to the Eco Park nearby, where we saw many elephants and plenty of birds. Shiran, our driver, was great too — knowledgeable and respectful of animals and of nature! Ravi also made amazing tea, rented me a bike, and even took me to the Shivaratri Festival at the ancient temples. If you're in Polonnaruwa, stay at Villa Ravichini. + Everything was wunderbar +
- Poppy (10/5): Exceptional - Wow, what a hidden gem! Comfortable, clean rooms and an incredible breakfast, by far the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka! Ravi is the most genuinely kind host and goes above and beyond to help you during your stay, nothing is too much! I seriously couldn’t recommend this place enough :) Everything was perfect!
- Recker-widjanarko (9/5): Superb - From the beginning the communication between us worked very well. Ravi always tried to do his best to help me reaching his place etc. The accommodation is located directly at the edge of the rice fields. Ravi Immediately arranged a bike and we went off to the laundry whose work was not satisfying. Dinner and breakfast prepared by Ravi were very delicious and, with a lot of variety, especially the breakfast. Thx so much ravi
- Wojo21 (10/5): Totally recommend. - A great place to stay, the owner is very kind and helpful. Breakfast is tasty and it's possible to rent bicycles for a reasonable price.
- Barbora (10/5): The owner and his mother are the kindest people we met during our trip. We really felt like home. Fast internet. Best br -
- Francesco (10/5): Exceptional - Very helpful and honest owner! Quiet place in nice neighborhood. Great breakfast!
- Petr.hryz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sebastian (10/5): Villa ravichi - Great place to stay, owner very friendly. Breakfast perfect. Close to main atraction, bikes avalible for hire.
- Seelan (10/5): Exceptional - The owner was friendly and helpful, superb srilankan breckfast.
Nice location and the room was very neet comfortable bed,
highly Recommended💙
- Dilshan (8/5): Very good -
- Sonya (9/5): A very welcoming homestay - Ravi was a brilliant host and we felt very welcomed and supported to have a great stay with his help and advice, including accompanying us to make sure we got where we needed to be. The rooms were simple but nice and good value for money. We had delicious breakfasts that were tailored to our preferences. We felt that the place could be improved by some small touches to make more comfortable and homely. Ravi bought new pillows while we were there to replace some quite hard pillows, and we both asked for and were given a top sheet for our beds.
- Schöpf (4/5): Disappointing - The mother of ravachini wad very sweet A lot of Black MOLD in bathroom!!! No sheets (extra pay). AC (extra pay). The owner (and actually all people in polonnaruwa) tried just to get money. We didnt felt the warm welcome of sri lankan people here. Hard beds. The archeological sites are not worth the visit.
- John (10/5): Dry good home stay which ticks all the boxes - Great location very close to ancient city ticket office. Great host family - attentive and gave local advice. Appreciated the air con which worked super well. Awesome breakfast - of our best so far. All was good. minor observation is that the pillows were a little hard. Still, we slept very well.
- Shelly (7/5): Good -
- Bienvenido (10/5): Exceptional - The genuine warm reception by the hosts was very touching. They paid attention to every little detail to make this an unforgettable stay. They also got me a rental bike and a safari tour to my outmost complete satisfaction.
- Barruel (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great, the manager was super friendly and always there to advise you and the food was super good and inexpensive, I highly recommend.
- Indre (10/5): Exceptional - Nice, simple and very clean homestay, close to the ancient city. Possibility to rent a bike.
I stayed only one night. Ravi the owner is very kind, humble and helpful, he even showed me around the lake with bicycles. And he always finds the solution;-)
- Leo (10/5): Great place to stay. - I very much enjoyed staying here. It’s comfortable, quiet, clean, and convenient. Darshana and his mom are very hospitable and easy-going. Nice, friendly atmosphere. If you’re tall, you’ll appreciate the long bed. You can walk to restaurants and the entrance to the old city. Also you can rent a bike if you like.
